Personalizing Portal Page - Restore Defaults

Hi,
I can personalize a page in the portal by adding/deleting iViews, changing the layout and changing the order of iViews.
When I want to restore the default settings by clicking on "Restore Defaults", the content (iViews) and the layout are returning to default, but the order of the iViews.
Is there a way to get the default order of the iViews back?
Regards
Joschi

Not that I know of.
It may be possible to use System admin -> Support -> PCD -> Personalization cleanup to do what you want, but I haven't tried it. I normally suggest turning off page personalization because undoing mistakes is messy!

    Hi Lexian,
I don't believe the Portal currently has any tool that can be used conveniently to create blog type content.
You are right, you could potentially use the XML Forms Builder to create a form which might just about do what you want it to, but this would be very fiddley and is not really designed for this purpose.
If you can wait, you should use the WebPage Composer that is due to released in the Portal from April.
Here at SDN we are currently looking into using it to display our blogs and I must say research is looking good so far.

When i access Portal (3.0.9) with my browser it leads me to the well known 'Welcome to Oracle Portal' page (which was installed during Portal configuration). From there i can continue to the login screen, log in and start working.

    Hello Bill.
To restore your interface layout, go into ''View > Toolbars > Customize... > Restore Default Set''.
If you can't see the menu bar, press ALT or F10 in your keyboard to make it temporarily visible. If you want it to be permanently visible, go into ''View > Toolbars > Menu Bar'', or right-click the Navigation Toolbar (the Reload button, for example) and select ''Menu Bar''.
If this doesn't help, right-click the navigation toolbar, select ''Customize...'' and click ''Restore Default Set''. If it doesn't appear right away, try pressing ALT or F10. You can go into ''View > Toolbars > Menu Bar'' to make it permanently visible, or right-click the Navigation Toolbar and select ''Menu Bar''.
If none of this helps, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Try disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal.

  • SAP EP - How to redirect in case of a reqest for a non-existent portal pag

    Hello,
I am not 100% sure if this is the right forum to ask my question but I will give it a try anyway.
I would like to customize the error handling of the SAP EP 6.0 in the following way. If a user tries to access a page of the portal that does not exist, the user should receive an error page describing the problem occured and should be redirected to the homepage after a short period of time.
In a portal environment with default configuration the user would immediately be redirected to the homepage. There is no error message displayed.
Does anyone know where to start digging? I think I need a better understanding of SAP EP error handling. I appreciate all answers, hints and suggestions.
    Cheers
    Martin

    Hi guys,
I am sorry to start discussion on that topic again. But I definitely need some help. Due to Samuli's help I have been able to modify the error handling of the portal in the following way.
    <b>Customization:</b>
User attempts to access a wrong url within the portal (e.g. http://<portal_server>:50000irjportalwrongurl). Instead of the standard "404 the requested resource is not available" error page I see my own error page. That's nice.
    <b>What did I do:</b>
I added the following lines to the portal's web.xml (/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/web-infweb.xml):
    <error-page>
      <error-code>404</error-code>
      <location>/customerrors/404.html</location>
    </error-page>
Additionally, I created a the 404.html file and put it in folder (/usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/cluster/server0/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/customerrors/.
    <b>What else?</b>
Well, I am using KM to make files accessible through the EP platform. If I access a KM file via the portal (http://<portal_server>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/Public%20Documents/Testfile.txt)an extra window opens and shows me the content of the file. In case I enter a wrong url (e.g. http://<portal_server>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/Public%20Documents/wrong_file_name.txt)I see the standard "404 The requested resource is not available" error page. But I want to see my customized error page.
    <b>How to</b>
I think I have to modify the web.xml of the KM the same way I did for the portal. But I do not know where to find the KM web.xml? Please could someone advise me where to look?
I appreciate all kinds of help!

  • How to change one iView to another in portal page by clicking the third one

    Hi all!
I have created four iViews: two speedometers with web application designer and two iViews with visual composer. I added the speedometers and a visual composer iView #1 to a portal page (default view). The requirement is that by clicking the speedometer #2, the visual composer iView #2 would replace visual composer iView #1 on the portal page. If the user then would select the speedometer #1 again by clicking it, visual composer iView #2 would replace #1 again and so on.
I have read article http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50b65a5d-f397-2910-a78a-f5544f21c33b?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true, but it is more about filtering VC iView values with BI web items. I don't need to filter anything, just to change one iView to another in a portal view by clicking a third one.
I have thought of placing two VC iView to a same portal page area and defining one of the to be visible and another hidden (by clicking speedometers these properties would change), but I haven't found the way how that could be done in portal. Is there a way to define some OnClick-method to change visibility parameters or url-address of another iView?
One solution might be¨on the other hand to transfer any value to VC by clicking a speedometer and to change the visibility of the VC iViews according to that value (the speedometer #1 should in that case transfer other value to VC than speedometer #2). I don't know if that is possible with speedometers - you can't reference any characteristics or variables with it.
If you have an idea, what would be the best way to accomplish this requirement, I would be very glad to hear about it! We are in VC 7.0.
    Points garanteed!
    Regards
    Sari

    Hi,
In the portal, create a page and place the iView having the three input fields on top. Place the second iView below. Keep differing the second iView for every page. In this way you can make the iView with 3 input fields only in the desired pages. You can use EPCF to invoke / navigate to another iView.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to create an external link which opens in new window and the content of the window is an Page which has iviews.

When I click on the external link, it opens a new portal window which has the mast head and in the content area the page is displayed.
My requirement is : I don't want the masthead to appear and I want only the page to be displayed in the new window.

  • Background image in a portal page??

    Hi,
How can I set a background image or watermark in a portal page instead of the plain background that comes by default.
    Regards
    Sreeram

Ofcourse Chris, very true. I should have mentioned the workaround in the previous post itself. Infact the solution is based on your suggestion in the previous post.
Every community page that is generated by the portal has a <div> element with a unique id. The id of div element is made up of the following string "pt-portal-content-" followed by the object id of the community page (which is unique). This <div> element has the style portalContent set to it by default.
I knew the page I would want the background to be applied to. And I knew the portlets that would go only on this page. These portlets are content portlets created from the publisher.
So in the presentation template code for one of these portlets I included a javascript function and set the background property of the div element, conditionally checking the div element's id to make sure that it is the community page I wanted to modify. And this javascript function is registered to the onload event.

I want to pass a parameter to a 'Portal' page. This parameter is a the title of the page. I found that in the page's properties a 'parameter' tab is there where we can add a parameter. But I don't know how the page will read the value of this parameter & display it.

i am trying to pass the parent_id as a parameter to a portal page but am not able to... i can add it to the list of in parameters to the PL/SQL based parent id but when i add the parent id to the url then i get no result... i created a custom attribute for the parent id since there is no attribute build other then page group and page id... when I set the Parent ID attributes default value in the attribute properties of the item type based on PL/SQL it just brings back results for the default value and if i pass a different value for ithe parent id i dont get the correct result I get the result for the default parent id.

If you are an administrator you can change the default home page to be the log-in/home page that you have created.
    - On the Administer tab, scroll down to the Services portlet.
    - Click the Global Settings link
    - Set your default home page to be the new log-in/home page that you created.
    - Click Apply.
    Hope this helps.

  • Execution order of objects into a Portal page

    Hi, to all.
I have a portal page (Oracle Portal 10.1.4) with many Areas (Items and Portlets). Every area contains one or more components (java portlet, plsql portlet,
dynamic page, plsql item, html portlet and so on). Let say 5 areas and 10 objects.
What is the order of executions of the objects ?
Who is the first object executed?
Portal executed all the objects in the first area and then started with the second area?
Which is the first area? these at the top-left corner of the page?
    Thank.

8.3.1 Managed Portlet Execution per Page
The PPE(Paralel Page Engine) uses the concept of fetcher threads. These are threads within the PPE servlet which are used to service requests for portlet content. By default there are 25 fetcher threads within the PPE waiting to service requests. If a page has 26 portlets and that page is requested then 25 of the portlets will be requested in parallel and the 26th request will wait for the next available fetcher thread.
This serialization effect will ultimately slow down the portal performance as more requests are received. This degradation will affect the whole portal site, to combat this at a more granular page level OracleAS Portal introduces a feature called Managed Portlet Execution (MPE).
This feature provides a throttle effect similar to fetcher threads but on a per-page basis. If a page has 25 portlets 20 will run the other 5 will wait for free slots then they will run, in effect they'll be throttled.
MPE is set to 20 by default, but this is a configurable parameter allowing administrators to ensure that the performance of the whole site is not degraded by over-zealous page designers putting excessive quantities of portlets on one page.

And parallel means like "all at the sime time" isn't it?

  • Search only portal pages

I want to search on Pages, not iviews/worksets. Any ideas please?

    Hi Ashish
In http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/cc/f4e77ddef1244380b06fee5f8b892a/frameset.htm you find the relevant guidelines.
If you dont want the parameter reflected in the URL, you will need to create a search options set and use it in the seach iview that should be used for portal page search.
So in the entry "Predefined Properties" of the search options set, you will need to enter "resourcetype(value=http://sap.com/xmlns/pcd/app/page/default)" if you want the search to be limited to resources defined as pages. Leave out /default if you dont want the end user to be able to change the filter.
If you want the parameter reflected in the URL, you can information about how to do it here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/thread?messageID=280371

  • What is the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page?

    Newbie here...
I am confused between NDWS and the Web Dynpro tab on the portal page.  As I don't have access to either right now, I need to know what is required by a Portal Content Admin to maintain an application.  The Basis people do the JCO setup.  Those are the only tabs I have seen when using the Web Dynpro tab from the portal, not NDWS.  Seeing as I don't have access to either tool, and I have to ask for what I need and I don't know what I need...  Been there?
I guess my question is the use of the two tools.
    Thanks,
    Amy Smith
    Haworth, Inc.

Thanks so much for a quick response!
So, the Web Dynpro Content Admin is normally a part of the content admin role.  Hmm... I get a "you are not authorized" when I click that tab, even though I can do iViews, etc. and was told I have the content admin role.  So if no one edited the rights of the content admin, I should be able to get into Web Dynpro Content Admin tool.  Is this so?  Is there any special user config, check box, etc in addition to the role?
Is the Dynpro content admin tool useful for content admins or content developers?
My Basis person does not want the content admin to be able to change JCO settings.  Is there a way to give the content admin rights to everything in the WDCA   except that?
Thanks again.  I am a J2EE developer who volunteered to take content admin and content development roles and am trying to figure out what has been done here and what needs to be done.  On top of that anyone who has been involved claims "I know nothing..."  until I ask specific questions.  It's just hard to know what the specific questions are.
I know, training...  No money. Sigh...  I am good at doing tutorials and reading manuals and experimenting, however, I need access to the right tools and permissions first.
    Thanks again.
