Personas 2 and local file transfer

Hi All,
On Personas 2, I am unable to download any file locally (on user laptop). I'm keep getting strange error messages:
[Unknown] ses[0]/wnd[0]/usrUSRAREA/ctlcPlease wait. You will be forwarded automatically.
This page is included for technical reasons.
Do you know if any specific configuration is required for local extractions to work properly?

This was most likely an old issue.
If you have updated your installation, i guess you should not see this.

Local file transfer speed slow on E1200

On a local file transfer (computer to NAS or NAS to computer) my file transfer speed with the E1200 is way too slow. I would expect the Wireless N speed to be at least 54mbps (megabits per second), which would be equivalent to 9 MegaBytes per second.
In practice the speed of transfer appears to be at 8mbps (1 MegaByte per second). Here is a screen shot:
The speed is the same whether I copy from the computer (on a wireless N link) to the NAS, or from the NAS (on a 100Mbit ethernet port on the E1200) to the computer. The NAS is brand new, auto configured to a RAID-1 setup with two new drives.
Anyone know why this is? is the encryption (WPA2-PSK/AES) slowing down the transfer? The same problem occurred with copying a folder of photos as with copying this large file. I don't think I can upgrade the firmware on my device, as I have the first version of the E1200.

There is no option to set the Qos to zero. I can set it to "auto" in which case the number has no effect.
I could set it to manual but it restricts me to a range as you can see from the graphic.
In case you are wondering, my internet speed is 10Mbps downstream, 5Mbps upstream. So I am getting the same speed for the internet that I am getting for a local transfer.
The next troubleshooting step is to bypass the wireless and hook my PC to the router. I will let you know if that makes a difference.

Problem with File panel and Local files

I am having a couple of problem using Dreamweaver (which may be related) and can’t find any appropriate help on the web site.
I have created a small website and have it up and running.    I’m now trying to do some minor modifications.     But Dreamweaver seems to have lost the address of my local files on my home computer (although files are still there in the same place.)     In the on-line training material it shows how to define where the root directory is when you start developing a site, but I can’t find where these setting are so I can check and if nessessary amend them.   If I go to Define Site from the Site drop down options, this does not allow me to check or define the root directory.
Secondly, in the File panel (lower right on the screen) the address bar at the top only shows the remote files and the icons to the right (“put”, “get”, etc) have disappeared and I can’t seem to get them back.   Also that lower panel seems to be floating rather than being fixed like it was.     I have tried clicking on Classic View in the Workspace layout options but this doesn’t move things back to how they were when I first started using Dreamweaver (just a few weeks ago).
Can you offer any advice on what the problem is and how to manage it? Many thanks.   I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 and an iMac.

Immediately below the Tabs saying "Files" and Assets" is a small box
with arrow on the right to show the drop down list.        In the box
on the right there's an icon of two networked computers. Then it
says, "ftp://Hill farm Web Site" which is the name of my website.
If I click on the arrows to pull up the drop-down box, I get four
options divided by a line.   Above the line the options are Computer,
HD and ftp://Hill farm Web Site. Below the line it says manage sites.
Below this is list of files that make up my website in a directory
structure.   The header for the first column reads, "Local Files",
which appears to be untrue, because the top line in the directory
structure below reads, "ftp://Hill farm Web Site".

"The file [name of file] may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." Issue affects both network and local files.

When a certain user saves a file in Excel 2010, she gets a message: "The file <name of file> may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." She can choose to save as another file or overwrite with her changes.
This just started happening a week or so ago. She was concerned that someone else was accessing her files, but we did several tests that opened, made a change and saved in a matter of seconds, and she still gets the message. It happens on
most files, but not all – both network and local.
We already tried the QFE_Saskatchewan registry fix. I also checked the file server for Services for Macintosh.

You may be confused by the error in Excel saying “another user”. Actually Excel cannot tell who (the real human) is editing the file. Based on my research the No.1 possibility of the error is KB2626998.

For Excel 2010, follow these steps:
a. Click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
b. Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options
c. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click Dword Value .
d. Type NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then press Enter.
e. Right-click NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then click Modify .
f. In the Value data box, click Decimal , type a number value, and then click OK .
Note This registry subkey sets the time, in seconds, that Excel waits for the network to resume. For example, if you type 15 for the number value, Excel waits 15 seconds for the network to resume. You might have to do some tests in your own environment to
determine an appropriate value. You may have to try multiple numbers.
g. Locate and then select the following registry subkey.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\Internet
h. Repeat step 2C through step 2F again. Reuse the same value that you used previously.
i. Exit Registry Editor.

IPod and iTunes file transfer

I just upgraded to iTunes 7 and now my file transfer to my ipod (3 genereation 15 gig) have come to a crawl. Some saying it will take hours. How do I fix this?

i have nokia 610 and i have donwloaded a ringtone from marketplace i mean song and i want to set it as my ringtone
what should i do in order to set that song as my ringing tone pls tell

Once you have downloaded and saved the new ringtone, you can set it as your ringtone by going to Settings>Ringtones&Sounds>Ringtone, Scroll to the top because this is where you will find all your downloaded ringtone. Just select the one you want to use.
Your Lumia 610 does not support bluetooth file transfer for the moment. However, this feature will be added with the next WP7.8 update which is due soon. In the mean time you can transfer files to other phones by using Skydrive or by emailing.

Making ".DS_Store" and ".localized" Files Invisible With Cocktail

I got Cocktail and I know that these files shouldn't be deleted
How exactly would I go about making these files invisible with cocktail? All I see is delete or prevent ".ds_store files". And what about these ".localize" files? does it take care of that along with ds store?

Any files that have names that begin with a "." are supposed to be invisible on your Mac.
You might have used Cocktail and gone to the "Interface" button and clicked on the "Show invisible Items" box. If so uncheck the box. You might have to log out and then back in to see a difference.
A .DS_Store file holds the information which controls the way a folder will be opened; i.e., the shape and size of the window, the position of the window on the desktop and whether file, folder or icon view has been selected. If you were to delete the .DS_Store the folder would revert to the system default next time it is opened and a new blank .DS_Store would appear (invisibly).
The only problem with .DS_Store files is that they confuse Windows users because they do show up on network shared drives, and flash drives that are formatted with Fat32.
They actually help the user keep individual folders working in a layout they choose and some people get upset when all their hard work is destroyed by having the system revert the View settings to the system default.
I don't know much about the .localized files. I suspect they are used by the system help files and other settings to know what language and measurements to use in system dialogs and messages. I could be wrong here, but they are still supposed to be invisible on a Mac.

DS_store and localized file over the place

Hi all, I got files that named "DS_Store" and "localized" all over my mbp folders, I did some research and the way that type in: "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFile false; killall Finder" in the terminal, didn't work for me. I think it was because in my case, there is no period in front of the file name, what I got are DS_Store and localized not .DS_Store or .localized icons. so I am not sure if those are hidden system files that pop up. I think I demonstrated my problem, I am frustrated, anyone help me plz... Thank you!!!

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried your command and it didn't work either. I think my problem is different from waht happened to others because the name don't have period in front. As I researched, .DS_Store is system file and cannot be deleted(will show up again in 2-3 seconds), but I can delete these files by dragging them to trash and empty them. However, there are too many of them I am tired of dragging them one by one.
any other advice?

Contribute CS4 and CS5 file transfer (publish) problem on Windows 7 64 bit

Have a problem with Contribute CS5 and CS4 on Windows 7 64 bit where upon editing a webiste for example to add a new page (or edit an existing one) and then clicking on "publish" a blank page appears on the website. To explain this further, If i make the required changes to the page and select the option to publish the file later then the file wirtten to the PC appears to be ok and has all the changes, but as soon as I publish it, only a blank page appears on the web server. ie the upload (ftp) process does happen but the content of the page is being stripped out somewhere during the filt transfer process.
I have editied the same site with CS4 on windows XP without any problems.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I seem to have solved the issue by downloading this install file
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.2/enu/AdbeRdr920_en_US.exe
which installs successfully.

ITunes match and local files

I have just signed up for iTunes match and have a question. I have a shedload of unorganized music from various CD rips over the years. None of the file names are right, tags are not filled in etc and I dont have the time/patience to go through thousands of songs checking them. Im not fussed about keeping a lot of it but dont want to just delete all of it. I want to use match to tidy this up by letting it match what it can and then deleting everything it can't forever (locally and from the cloud)
What would be the best way to go about this guys? I'm at a bit of a loss! I'm running win 7.

iTunes Match does not provide ID3 tags from the iTunes Store, so any tracks that do not have ID3 tags now will still not have ID3 tags after they are scanned and mirrored in the cloud.
If a track cannot be "matched" then it is "uploaded." To tell the difference enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser by swtching to Song view and pulling down View > View Options and selecting "iCloud Status" then closing the small window.
You may delete any tracks you choose from the library and the cloud at any time.

I do not want to show all files on Image & Videos. There are lots of personal Image & Files which I do not want to show every body. But on Image & Video option in glary is showing all files. It's showing all Images wherever it is.
I've tried a lot to hide those picture & Videos but did not get any option for the same.
At the same time I want to know that can't I see my Image & videos folder wise.
Pls let me know how can I do the same ASAP. I am a loyal customer of NOKIA. If these problem will not be solve I'll reject the set and seek better option from another Handset provider.

Recording a person remotely and locally at the same time

Using the most recent version of Adobe Audition for the Mac...
I'm recording 2 people on my end, but also need to be able to record a third person that is in another city at the same time. They all need to be able to hear each other and I need a decent recording. I've got great mics on this end and I'm using Adobe Audition to record onto a Mac. The remote person has a good USB mic but I am not sure how to get his audio in and a monitor of everything back out to him. Any ideas?

Not a simple as it sounds...
The first thing to consider is how you're getting the voice from the other city into your system? Regular phone? Skype? Specialist IP transmission device? Skype (or similar) might be easier but not up to the full quality you'll get locally.
Second, you have to consider what's fed where. The remote voice will wish to hear the two people local to you but NOT his own voice returning with heavy lag. In a professional situation, you'd also have a facility to over ride the programme audio for a director (you?) to give direction and countdowns etc.
I know there are specialist pieces of podcasting software that can do some or all of this on a single computer (though with varying degrees of success from what I gather). However, depending on the resources available, if it was me, I'd use 2 computers (and a third at the remote end), a headphone amp and a small mixer with at least one pre fade aux.
I'd use one computer to set up a Skype connection with the remote end, feeding the line out into one channel of the mixer. I'd feed the two local mics into two other channels of the mixer and the main output(s) of the mixer into your Mac for recording. Up to you (and what you have) whether you keep each voice in a separate track or maybe just pan the local mics to one side and the remote to the other to keep the two locations separate.
I'd use the pre fade aux to feed to the remote location, turning up the two local mics but NOT his own voice. If necessary (and it usually is) I'd set up a third basic mic into the pre fade aux so I could talk to the far end as required.
Anyhow, that's how I'd do it.

Automatically sync local files and iTunes playlists

Is it just me, or does Spotify not update playlists and local files from iTunes automatically as you add more tracks?
This is so annoying. I use iTunes to add and organize my local files, which Spotify is not able to do. But the least Spotify could do was to do a check up once in a while to see if i added new local tracks or changed my playlists in iTunes.As it is now i have to import playlists and local files everytime i add new music. So i first need to add it to iTunes and then again to Spotify. Toooo much work.

File Transfer Speeds

I know this topic has already been covered in some of the posts but it was replied that the latest version i.e., 6.20 would solve the bug. Which obviously it failed to do hence this post.
The latest version of skype 6.20 still gives a maximum speed of upto 4Mbps even if the clients are on Gigabit LAN connection. Version 6.18 used to stuck at 1.5 Mbps. Earlier versions (6.9) used to provide full LAN speed via skype.
Secondly, earlier versions of Skype didn't pass on the sounds of programs running on one of the clients but as I tested today, version 6.20 passes client sounds (and I'm not talking about speech) like music etc etc.
Is this really how upgrades are supposed to behave? Or is it poor quality assurance testing before making release public?
Disappointments since MS acquired this brilliant service.

Been having issues with file transfers for a while, didn't find out til I went to post here that Skype is now up to 6.21 (I was on 6.20.x but 'checking for updates' didn't find anything) so I uninstalled, installed fresh, and tried again. Still no good.
Not sure what the aforementioned previous discussions covered, but when sending a file my local connection gets saturated on the upload side. So my connection properties dialog shows my connection uploading faster than my internet can (somewhere around 800KBps, while my net upload is ~100), with everything else net related predictably slowing down. And the file transfer itself slows to a crawl.
Uninstalled the latest/current version of Skype, back to 6.16.0.105 as I read in some other advice, and am currently sending a file at my normal speed without any issue at all.
So if this was supposed to be fixed it most certainly isn't.
Note this isn't an anti-MS rant - I didn't install Skype until MSN/Windows messenger no longer worked. For my needs (IM, file transfer) messenger worked perfectly. Skype has been ok until recently with this issue.
