Personnel Development -- data upload
My customer have PD related data in word documents and in legacy applications. How do we upload them in to SAP HCM Q / QK objects?
Is there a BAdi or LSMW can be used
Hi,
We have used LSMW at many clients to do this. However, I suggest the data from microsoft word be converted to excel so that it is more compatible with the LSMW process.
thanks.

Personnel Development - No Data
Hello Everyone,
I am facing an issue in MSS. Under Team -> Employee Information -> Personnel Development
This iView opens but does not include any data. The iViews are all empty.
What is weird is that both 'General Information' and 'Compensation Information' show the correct data and even 'Personnel Development' was working a couple of weeks ago.
What could be the reason behind this?
P.S. I checked the log in NWA and i got a 'fatal' entry with no further elaboration. The iView works with other personnel.
Edited by: Motaz Abu Karat on Oct 20, 2010 9:32 PMDear Bala,
A new development which is very illogical!
When I remove the employee from the user and log in with the user, the data appears in all iViews under 'Employee Information'!
How can that be? I mean the iView that is not working is working without an employee assigned.
I am checking st01 and st05 but, until now, to no avail.

FI Master data upload sequence
Experts,
Please excuse me if my post sounds vague. I am a Technical Consultant working off-site independently. I couldn't think of a better forum to get functional advice.
Please look at the below list of FI Master data upload objects, and suggest:
a. the recommended sequence in which the objects are to be uploaded
b. points to consider/tips for uploading/recommendations (LSMW/BUS*/BAPIs, etc)
FI Objects:
1. Cost Centers
2. Profit Centers
3. GL Accounts- COA,CC
4. Fixed Assets
5. Bank Data
6. Cost Elements
7. Activity Groups
8. Activity Types
9. Activity Prices
Thanks in advance.
NWHi,
we have to upload first the Master such as G/l Accounts , Primary Cost Elements & Secondary cost elements.then upload the open items , then p/l balances, then B/S balances , finally asset master with balances
Pre-Check LSMW: To-Do-List Before Using the Tool
The LSM Workbench is a tool that supports the transfer of data from non-SAP systems to R/3. Basic functionality of the LSM Workbench:
1. Import old data from spreadsheet tables or sequential files.
2. Convert the data from source format into target format.
3. Import the data into R/3.
Before using the LSM Workbench, you need a concept for data migration. In particular, note the following items:
· Make sure that R/3 customizing is complete.
· Analyze the data existing in the legacy system to determine which data will be needed in the future (also from a business-operational point of view).
· Consider whether usage of the tool makes sense with regard to the data volumes to be transferred. In case of very small data quantities, it may be easier to carry out the transfer manually. With very large data volumes, however, batch input technology may lead to excessively long runtimes. Rough estimate for the required time: 10000 records per hour; this value, however, may vary strongly depending on the hardware.
· Identify the transaction(s) in R/3 you want to use for bringing the data into the SAP System. Here, it may also be relevant whether the data is required for statistical (evaluation) purposes or for further processing in the system.
· Test the relevant transaction in R/3 manually with test data from the old system and make sure that all required fields are filled. There may be required fields that do not correspond to any data window in the legacy system. In such a case, assigning a fixed value or defining the field as optional for data transfer may be appropriate.
· Check the interfaces provided by the application. Is there a batch input program and an IDoc (for example)? Which method should be used in your project?
· Develop a mapping plan in written form: Assign the legacy system fields to the R/3 fields.
· Determine the form (e.g. via u201EMOVEu201C or assigned according to a rule) in which the legacy system data shall be transferred to the SAP System.
· If applicable, define the allocation rules (LSM-internal name: u201Etranslation rulesu201C).
· Define the way for extracting the data from the legacy system. (Note: LSMW does not extract data.)
· Describe the form in which the old data are available: Will the host or the spreadsheet interface of the LSMW have to be used?
· If only a part of your legacy system will be replaced by R/3, define the functionalities to be provided by the SAP System and those to be provided by the legacy system. If required, create a concept of the data flows and interface architecture.
These questions can only be answered individually for every customer; as a matter of course, this should be done before the tool is used!

SQL Developer Data Wizard - Row terminator question
Hi all,
I'm new to SQL Developer and am using the wizard to import a dataset with a non-standard row terminator
The row terminator essentially looks like 2 spaces but its actually 2 newline characters.
In SQL Server I specified the following in the SQL Server wizard and it worked:
{CR}{LF}{CR}{LF}
What's the equivalent for oracle? Or what should I type in the row terminator field of the SQL Data upload wizard instead of the default: Windows <CR><LF>
Thanks for your help!

Edited by: 888130 on Sep 28, 2011 7:38 AMHi!
As far as I know, the line terminator for the import wizzard has to be {CR}{LF} or {CR} or {LF}.
So your best shot may be to preprocess your import file and replace {CR}{LF}{CR}{LF} with {CR}{LF}.
Another oportunity is to use SQLLoader:*

Good afternoon,
Just looking for some high level ideas. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
I've been asked to develop a unique Apex application. Well, unique for me. :-)
I work for a manufacturer and they need a quality inspection app created. I've been developing Apex apps for about 3 years and I know how to code up the main aspects of this application. I know what to do concerning the main data entry, etc., but I don't know how to best go about one key aspect.
The key aspect - this app will be used on the plant floor, so they won't always be connected to the network. The quality inspectors want to have an application on a laptop that has a graphic of the component being inspected. For example, let's say it is a stove. There will be several graphics. Front, back, sides, top, interior. Then, over each graphic there will be a grid. Numbers along the top, letters down the side. If the inspector sees a flaw on the side in the E-5 location they will click a LOV that is in that section and select the flaw. The LOV will contains things like - scratch, dent, bad electrical connection, etc. You probably get the idea. Then, at some point they finish the inspection, connect to the network, and upload the information. The information uploaded will be serial number and the inspection grid information.
I have a few main questions:
1. Is Apex appropriate for the inspection component, particularly since the user will NOT have a persistent network connection.
2. If Apex is the best solution for the inspection part, how do I go about doing it?
3. If not Apex then what? Would maybe some XML/graphic solution be best? If so, how would I get that data uploaded to the main Apex app?
I'm just brainstorming at this point. Any questions, comments, suggestions are welcome.
Thx, TonyHere's some thoughts..
1) You could use a watermark to show the image as a background and then have your controls placed accordingly.... (Layout would be interesting).
2) XE installed on the laptop and then upload to main database application from XE when you are connected to network.
3) Flex MIGHT be an option, again with XE as a back-end database is an option, since you want custom layout of the form with controls on the image.
Thank you,
Tony Miller

Team= Personnel Developent= Employee Search
Dear Experts.
I have the following question:
What is the cause for that in the Manager Self Service =>Team=>Personnel Developent=>Employee Search
the portal not update(display) the information of the employee Direct Reports.?
I made the following test:
1) Chief with personnel number 10 assign in the infotype 0105 subtype 001 the user chief_mss and display the employee.
2) Deallocate(delete) the register of the infotype 0105 subtype 001 the user chief_mss for the personnel number 10 and assign this user to the personnel number 20 that also is chief and have other employees in his responsability.
However the system follow showing the same employees of the chief 10.
I check the t.code PPEM - for know that employee have a chief in responsability.
Anyone have an idea of What is the cause of this issue?
Regards'Employee Search' iView uses a caching functionality to store the
data that was retrieved from Organizational Management.
The validity of the cached data can be define via iView property 'Cache
Lifetime'. The default value is '1' that means that the data is valid
for one day (to improve the iView performance).
If you want to have a different behaviour, you could change this caching
parameter (e.g. set it to -1 to disable the caching at all).

Foreign key Mapping based on Data - in SQL Developer Data modeler
Team
Do SQL Developer Data modeler supports Foreign Key mapping based on the Data in the Schema rather defined at the DDL ? For e.g if we implement a Objects Relation ship mapping in Data base, we don't define Foreign keys at table creation.
Toad does this feature through "AUTOMATIC FOREIGN KEYS MAPPING IN TOAD DATA MODELER" more info at (http://toadworld.com/Blogs/tabid/67/EntryId/905/Automatic-Foreign-Keys-Mapping-in-Toad-Data-Modeler.aspx)
any one know how to implement through some scripts also helps me
Regards
RajIf you have table PKs defined and the candidate columns match those PK columns, then you can use the Discover Foreign Keys utility. Right mouse over the relational model name (node) in the left browser. It is about half way down the menu. I did a blog post about it last week on kentgraziano.com.

Legacy asset data upload for multiple line items
Hello
Legacy asset data upload for multiple line items- for example Building is an asset which is having different line items for purchasing of land, constructaion or renovation etc.........now to upload the legacy data what should be consider...only one line item for Building or numbers of line item.........
which one is the proper way to do this exercise?
regardsHi,
It completely depends on clients requirement. but following are few approaches:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.
2. Create a Building at specific location at asset code and
3. create asset sub numbers for other components.
other approach would be:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.
2. Create a Building at specific location at asset code and
3. create further asset codes for other components where field description will be used for relating each other.
