Personnel Sub areas as per the departments...

Hi
is it correct to have personnel subareas acoording to department wise. ex :- Can hr, finance, sales departments be made as personnel subareas in enterprise structure. ???
Regards
Mohammed

Hi,
Personnel Subareas are the subdivision of Personnel Area and it is a must to define a pay scale  area, pay scale type and one holiday calendar for each personnel subarea.
It is also important to keep the control features in mind while defining the personnel sub area:
1. Specifying the country grouping; this controls the dialog for entering country-specific personnel data and the setting up and processing of wage types and pay scale groups in Payroll; within a company code, the country grouping must be unambiguous
2. Assigning a legal entity to differentiate between the individual companies from a legal point of view
3. It specifies groupings for Time Management. This enables you, for example, to set up work schedules, substitution types, absence types, and leave types on the basis of a specific personnel subarea.
4. The personnel subarea is a selection criterion for evaluations.
5. The personnel subarea is used to generate default values for pay scale area and pay scale type for an employeeu2019s basic pay.
6. It specifies the public holiday calendar.
7. Defining personnel subarea-specific wage types per personnel area
8. It assigns a legal person for payroll.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

  • Doubt  with Personnel sub areas

    Dear Experts,
Here we have a requirement to change the existing  Personnel Sub Areas  to new PSAreas. In the existing system we have 5 PSA and as per requirement we have to delete  the existing  PSA and have to include around 10 new PSA s.How we have to map the new psa for already existing employees.
What is the implications  for the existing employeeswhen we delete existing psa and inclusion of new ps areas.
    Please advice me
    Regards,
    V Sai.

    Hi,
As you said you have 5 PSA before and now you want to create 10 new PSA and assign the employees to these new PSAs.
    1. Create the 10 new PSAs and maintain all their attributes as you did for earlier 5 PSAs
    2. If you want to keep a track then probably you can create an ACTION with text CHANGE PSA and in the INFOGROUP for this action use the INS for IT0000 and IT0001 in COPY mode .
Now you can create a BDC program (  ask your ABAPer) and upload all the data for employees with new PSAs
If you dont wish to create an ACTION then as earlier suggested by other members you can just load data to IT0001 with LSMW .
or BDC using PA30 with IT0001 copy and only change the PSA and begin date.
I dont think deleting the old PSAs will be advisable as it would be required for historical data.
    Hope this helps.

How does this functionality work in the new module of OSA . can anyone help me out?

  • Changing Personnel Sub Areas Post Go-Live

I have a situation where the client wants to discontinue use of certain Personnel Sub-areas and do a mass change of employees in those PSA's to existing PSA's, as well as possibly reassign Employee Groups and ESG's.
If PA/OM integration is turned on, what is the easiest, least painful method of accomplishing this?
I'd like to make the change on the OM side and have it be inherited on the PA side, IT0000/0001.
    Thanks.
    Tom

This is not a solution but rather sharing some experience.
I am in a similar situation in my current place: Company Code was created excessively without knowing the actual usage of it by FI. Most of it doesn't represent actual legal entity. Because of this mess this client has issues when wanting to implement other SAP modules like logistic,SD etc. Now they are in the 'clean up' process. But because it has impacted HR as well, situation becomes really messy. To make things worst in HR, Personnel Areas are also created not in a manner that it should be. Now these too need to be cleaned up (not because of logistic, SD implementation but now their users make noise because their employee data are so messy .... users are HR professionals so they can see..). But we proposed the clean up of Personnel Areas to be done at later stage once the Company Code is cleaned. This is also because changing Personnel area, subarea for a productive system is more risky as you need to consider retroactivity when it comes to Time Eval and Payroll. In our case for example, as Company Code need to be cleaned up retroactively, this impact all payroll, time, and Travel & Expense clusters.
    Moral of the story:
    - Adequate end user training as well as IT support training must be provided
    - System procedure documentation must be provided and followed by the client
    - Good IT support who knows the business process is required so that any enhancement to the delivered system is done in a manner that it should be. Not just anyhow create!

  • Can NUMKR feature be used for personnel sub areas

    Hi All,
Can you please help in finding out if NUMKR feature be used to assign the number ranges for personnel sub areas??
Currently we are using company code to determine the Number ranges. I have also tried with personnel areas. Its working fine.
My query is, if, a company has about 5 personnel areas, and each personnel area has about 3 sub areas, then how to proceed with the number ranges. Sub areas should be capturing the number ranges respectivily.
    --Pranitha

    Yes we can
we can assign based on the following only
    BUKRS     Company Code
    WERKS     Personnel Area

  • Create/Copy Personnel Sub Areas

What is the difference if I create Personnel Sub Areas using the two options available in  SPRO > Enterprise Structure> Definition> Human Resources Management > Personnel Sub Areas > 1) Copy, delete, check personnel sub area and 2) Create personnel sub areas?
It seems that if you select Copy, delete, check personnel sub area, it allows you to copy from one sub area to already existing sub area. Then why should i not create the sub areas with second option only?

    Hi,
There are many parameters (like see below)  attached to a personnel subarea. If you create subarea from scratch then you have to maintain them manually, if you copy from similar personnel subarea they are copied as well.
Personnel Subarea Grouping for Leave Types
    Pay Scale Area
    Pay scale type
Personnel subarea grouping for absence and attendance types
Personnel Subarea Grpg for Substitution/Availability Types
PS grouping for attendance and absence counting
    Legal Person
Grouping of Personnel Subareas for Time Recording
Grouping of Personnel Subareas for Time Quota Types
    Personnel subarea grouping for premiums
Personnel Subarea for Primary Wage Type and Wage Maintenance
    Statistics Modifier
    Personnel Subarea Grouping for Appraisals
    Public Holiday Calendar
Personnel Subarea Grouping for Work Schedules
    Cheers

  • Creation of sub departments under personnel sub areas

    Hi
One of my client want to maintain the sub departments under personnel subareas, Is it possible then please tell me the paocess Otherwise what is the another wayto maintain the sub departments like PSA is F & A under this sub area client want to maintain sub departments-Excise,Accounts,Finance,Taxation,Secraterial,Banking,Accounts marketing & sales.

    Hi,
PSAs are the sub divisions of PA. you can not bifurcate a PSA again.
if you want to bifurcate then in OM you can create a structure like this but the last one will become your PSA.
because PSA has many dependency like TIME MANAGEMENT and PAYROLL.....
and as Mr.Salil suggested you can create a custom field in infotype 0001 for the look n feel and for the reporting you have to insert the custom table in PQAH for reporting based on the custom field.
create the custom field and name it as sub PSA or 2nd PSA, which does not have any dependency only for the information.
Consult your ABAP consultant to create a custom field in infotype 0001.

  • HR master data authorizations Personnel Sub Area (PSA) wise

    Hi Experts,
The requirement is to restrict HR masterdata access PSA wise.
    Example:-
There are 2 PSAs i.e. 1000 & 2000 for which, there are two different HR admin who are responsible for the maintenance of the HR masterdata for their respective PSAs.
The requirement is, the HR admin of 1000 PSA should have the authorization of create/change/display of 1000 PSA & should have only the display authorization for 2000 PSA. HR admin of 1000 PSA can not modify the details of other PSAs.
Like the same way, HR admin of 2000 PSA should have the authorization of create/change/display of 2000 PSA & should have only the display authorization for 1000 PSA.
I have managed to handle the same through org key (VDSK1). But the issue is, the HR admin of 1000 is only able see the data upto the period when the employee was in 1000 PSA. For e.g. if employee no. 789654  was in 1000 PSA from 1.1.2014 to 31.03.2014 & he was transferred to 2000 PSA on 1.4.2014, then the HR admin of 1000 is able to see the data upto 31.03.2014 only. And HR admin of 2000 PSA is able to see the data from 1.4.2014 onwards & not the past data.
During a transfer action, I am manually changing the org key when I am transferring the employee from one PSA to other PSA.
    Requirement
My requirement is that, after the transfer also, the HR admin of the 1st PSA (1000) should be able to only view the current employee data & but he can not change anything and the same way HR admin of 2000 PSA should be able to view the past data but should not able to change the past data.
How it will work in Training & Event Mgt? Will the system restricts the HR admin from booking an employee of other PSA also?
    Please help..
    Regards,
    Daniel

    Hi Omid,
Thanks for your reply. I saw your link where you have suggested for custom authorization object. Does it require any other development other than creating the custom object?
I have managed to achieve the PSA wise authorization by using org key. But the problem is, the current HR administrator is not able to see the past data. For e.g. if employee no.
My requirement is; the current HR admin can view all the past and current data but not authorized to create/change or delete anything once the employee is transferred from his PSA.

  • Authorization check based on personnel sub area

    Dear experts,
I would like to know if there's a way to do the authorization checking based on personnel subarea? Currently we can perform the authorization check up to Personnel Area only in P_ORGIN.
              Please advice.
              Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yen

The feature Administrator groups (PINCH) is designed to deal with such a situation.
    Example
Administrator A is responsible for personnel areas 1 and 2, Administrator B is responsible for the employee subgroups X and Y within personnel area 3, Administrator C is responsible for all other employee subgroups within personnel area 3.

  • New plant created, how to create/configure personnel area & sub area for it

    Hi Gurus,
I am very new to SAP HR, our clinet has plans to open a new plant for their organization.
Now we need to create a personnel area and personnel sub area.
Can you please explain how to configure the Personnel area and sub area through SPRO for the new plant?
Also, is it neccessary to assign the newly created PA and PSA to already present employee subgroups?
    Thanks in advance.
    Akash.

    Hi,
You can create PA & PSA thru
    spro : Enterprise structure - Definition - HRM - PA & PSA
spro : Enterprise structure - Assignemnt - HRM - PA to CC.
There is no direct relationship between a plant and PA&PSA info.
You can either create PAs inline with your plants or not.
It depends on your firms's enterprise structure.
There is no assignemnt between PA & PSA and employee groups.
You need to only assign newly created PA to company code.

  • Wage type permissiblity per personal sub area

    hi gurus
can anybody tell me what is meaning of 0 to 9 numbers in define wage type permissiblity for each PS  and ESG

Your other thread PERSONAL SUBAREA GROUPING FOR PRIMARY WAGE TYPE and this one are related...
Basically you handle a grouping of PA/PSA or EG/ESG and give it a value of 0 - 9. Using that grouping value, you determine permissibility for it.
For example you personnel area is 111 and personnel sub area is FNC and you give it a value of PS grouping 1...
You then do the same grouping to the EG and ESG and give it a grouping of 1...
When you go to Permissibility of Wage Types
SPRO -> PM -> PA -> Payroll Data -> Basic Pay -> Wage Types -> Check Wage Type Catalog -> Define Wage Type Permissibility for each PS and ESG
    or known as table V_511_B
You then set this to the wage type...
The person has to belong to PS grouping (111 and FNC) and ES Grouping (whever you set as a combo) to be eligible to use that wage type

  • ESS sub-area links yield blank pages and error in log.

We have just activated ESS:Travel and Expense (T&E)and are having issues when accessing the links in the sub-area menus via the Portal.  We are using the standard roles delivered in the Self-Service BP.  The T&E iview page returns the T&E sub-menu.  When we select for example "My Trips and Expenses" we get a blank screen.  The entry below is then written to the defaultTrace.trc file.
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [Xfs] Object not found [Root exception is javax.naming.NamingException: [Xfs] Object not found]
         at com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.PcdFilterContext.filterLookup(PcdFilterContext.java:404)
We are able to access all links under the sub-area of T&E by accessing them using the XSS menu (<host>:<port>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pcui_gp~xssutils/XssMenu.  This menthod does not yield an entry to defaultTrace.trc file.
Because the links work via the XSS menu I would suspect the webdynpro and jco setup is correct -- which would bring me back to the Portal role -- however I don't see a configuration propery that would affect the behavior of the sub-area menus as those are delivered from the backend system.
As always...any help would be appreciated.
    Greg

I've figured out my issue.  I saw a similar post w/o resolution so I thought I would post mine.  In the delivered SAP configuration for Travel Management the PCD Role URLs had a typo.  In my case there was an extra period (see below).  I updated the view V_T7XSSSERRES and removed the extra period from each of the Travel Management Resource Key PCD role URLs.
    Thanks,
