Pesky Fetch Art

I downloaded the widget (at least I think it was a widget...or freeware) 'Fetchart' meant for iTunes (designed to download album art) from the Apple website, but it never worked. I upgraded to iTunes 7 which then included Cover Flow, so I had no need for Fetchart anyway. However, it's become really pesky. I can't seem to get rid of it. The icon is still present on the itunes taskbar, and although this doesn't affect the functioning of iTunes, I can't work out how to completely remove it. Any ideas?

  • Removing Fetch Art in OSX Lion??? (no script folder) @%&$)#!

Ok, I'm new here and I made this account just to ask everyone about this. I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with Fetch Art and the way it sticks to your iTunes menu bar after the app has been deleted. Well, I'm running the most current version of Lion and I tried out Fetch Art, deleted it, and then saw that it was still in the menu bar. I'm pretty OCD, so I want it clean. I googled everything I could to find a solution, but most everyone says look in the "scripts" folder in the library. I did that. I do not have a scripts folder. I searched for "Fetch Art.scpt" too and again, nothing. How in the heck can I get this crap off of my menu bar????
I will dance at the wedding of any kind soul that helps me with this.

Also, is the iTunes script folder hidden in Lion? like the Library folder? Maybe its a multiple user issue with the folders or something. The script file is not in the plug-ins folder either. I'm sure someone else has had/has this problem.
    I just thought of something:
I read somewhere that if you've never used scripts before you don't have a script folder in itunes, so, could I make a scripts folder, download the Fetch Art script and put it in the new folder, then delete it? would that remove the menu bar icon? Just a thought.

  • Fully remove Fetch Art

I installed, then uninstalled, Fetch Art (after learning that the current version won't work with Amazon now). The little "S" shaped icon still appears in the menu bar of itunes, however. How can I remove this icon as well?
    Thanks.

I had the same problem and found that removing the script file found in /Library/iTunes/Scripts worked. Give that a go.

  • How to get rid of the Fetch Art Script from iTunes

A couple months ago I installed Fetchart, didn't like it and uninstalled using app zapper. App is gone but I still get this "S" looking script logo when I open iTunes. If I click on it, it says Fetchart. I tried going to library/iTunes and finding the "scripts" folder but it's not there.
I really want to get rid of this

    Anybody?

  • FR & iTunes fetched album art

I've noticed that album art fetched by iTunes does not show up in Front Row. However, album art that I've embedded manually or w/ 3rd party s/w does show up. So does the iTunes not embed art it fetches itself? That seems kind of silly. Or am I missing setting?

Yes, I understand that. However, your album art is not acting the way it should. The only difference between your fetched art and mine is your third party program. If we knew what it was, we might be able to determine if any one else has encountered the same issue. All of my iTunes album art does show up in Front Row.

  • Can't get album art from iTunes.

Ok, so we have the ability to get album artwork. I presume that iTunes contacts iTMS and searches for artwork. I have an album that is also on iTMS and I want to get the artwork. I click on get album artwork and then nothing. It is a soundtrack, so I am typing exactly what it says on iTMS and zippo, nada. Fetch art doesn't work for poop and synergy can't find the artwork either. Is there some way to directly get the artwork from iTMS, save it either to desktop or to iTunes?

Do you have an account with the iTunes store? If you do, are you signed in to your account? Those might be the reasons why you can't download artworks.

  • "Software for Album Art"

    Hello everybody,
I used to use a program called, "Fetch Art" for find album art work and I had good luck with it overall..however since the recent update of iTunes I cannot use this program anymore--it errors out.
Other than signing up for an iTunes account, is there another software package that I could try for finding album art?
    Thanks,
    Norm

    Try Clutter, at http://www.sprote.com/clutter/
Whats cool about this program, besides being free, it allows you to place album covers on your desktop that you can click on that will launch iTunes. I still use it to find album art work.

  • Anyway to get iTunes to find media info/album art like Media Player does?

I was wandering if iTunes can do this, or if theres a plugin as to be honest windows media player is **** and keeps messing up my iTunes folder..

I use fetch art which seems to do a pretty good job, although I'm sure there are probably others out there.

  • STEVE JOBS!! PLEASE HELP!! LIST OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IN FIRST UPDATE!!

DEAR STEVE AND APPLE DEVELOPMENT TEAM,
I have been a loyal Mac customer for almost 20 years. This is the first time I have been extremely unhappy. My thoughts are listed below......
In giddy excitement, I rushed home from work on Tuesday September 12, 2006 to downloaded itunes 7 and play with the new added features, but to my dismay the bad upgrade experience began which I go into more detail below.
I just wanted to mention that I bought some new music videos and they won't play. Contacted Apple and they said that they would not give me a refund or itunes store credit. Is this good customer service Apple?? This past week since installing itunes 7.0 It's been a week of MAC DRAMA! If it's the company's fault that I'm having problems because of a bad software upgrade, should I be punished for being a good customer?? Not good business Apple. Wise up to your customers. Without us, where would you be???
BELOW IS MY PERSONAL DREAM LIST OF ITUNES 7.0 FIXES........
    1) NOT AN EASY UPGRADE. This was not an easy upgrade. itunes 7.0 removed all of my music videos from my ipod because the preferences are now in the summary and at the bottom of the music tab is a check box for including your music videos. Should this not be on by default? Because it was not, all my music videos were erased so I had to put them all back on my ipod which is very time consuming.
    2) INSTALLING QUICKTIME. Apple don't you think that you should have told your customers to install the latest NEW version of Quicktime BEFORE installing itunes 7.0?
    3) MUSIC VIDEO LIBRARY. The itunes library is now separated into different categories. Good idea if you had thought it through. Apple, if you have three video kind settings in the get info box (music video, movie, TV show) would it not be a good idea to reflect this in the new itunes library? PLEASE ADD A MUSIC VIDEO LIBRARY. I understand that music videos are music, but because they are music videos and not audio, it would just make it easier to be able to access them separately from the rest of your mp3's.
    4) COVER FLOW. Again great idea for the eye candy if it worked correctly. Every-time I try to use the coverflow view and add movie art or album art half the time itunes crashes. I have to force quit, then restart itunes. Never crashed in itunes 6.0. Please fix!!
    5) GET ALBUM ART. Get album art is a great idea if it would work correctly. I click on a song that needs art, use the contextual menu, go to get album art, yeah!!!!! oh... nothing happened? Still using third party software fetch art instead.
    6) CATEGORIES. When you are in a playlist or library and would search for a file — at the top left of the itunes 6.0 window it would give you automatic categories to refine and breakdown your search even more. For example, Music, Music Video, Movie, Podcasts. Why did you take this out in itunes 7.0? It was very helpful in refining your search!! PLEASE PUT BACK!!
    7) MUSIC VIDEOS. Even though I would have my music videos set to skip when song shuffle is selected, I could go into the music video folder of the ipod and just play my music videos and they would shuffle within their own folder. Now in itunes 7.0 they will not shuffle. So of course to get around this.... again I had to do more work than I would like to have, by creating just a music playlist with all my songs so I can have them shuffle separate from everything else on my ipod. Then I had to go into my music videos and select all of them to now not skip when shuffle is selected. Apple why are you making this harder on us?? Why are we having to backtrack and regress to do what itunes 6.0 did for us automatically??!!
    8) FRONT ROW WILL NOW NOT RECOGNIZE ANY OF MY TV SHOWS. I go to front row, TV shows, nothing is listed. Just a blank bar. Only way around this is to get info then change video kind from TV show to movie. If video kind is a TV show, then Front Row needs to reflect that. PLEASE FIX!!!
    9) QUICKTIME CRASHES ABOUT HALF THE TIME I USE IT NOW. No problems until last upgrade. I open a video file, click play, spinning color wheel of death! Force quit restart. Did Microsoft help you with this last upgrade???
    10) ITUNES 7.0 IS VERY SLUGGISH! Not as responsive as itunes 6.0. Apple what happened with taking your time. I feel that itunes 7.0 was not thought through and rushed! IF IT AIN'T BROKE, THEN DON'T FIX IT!!! Remember Coke and New Coke?
I have read numerous more complaints from customers regarding their own personal experiences with this VERY BAD UPGRADE. Apple, I really hope you are reading a lot of these user complaints and really taking this seriously. This mistake may cost you a lot of loyal MAC fans.
Steve, I hope your reading this. Please help us!!
    Sincerely,
    Jason Bowles

You're wasting your time writing letters to Apple here as these are user to user forums.
Use the iTunes feedback form to request improvements and fixes.
It looks like you used the iTunes Store support form to ask Apple for a refund or store credit but if you think about it, anyone could ask for a refund saying their files don't work and Apple wouldn't know if they were telling the truth. You can ask for replacement copies of your purchases just like I did when I had a corrupted file one. If there really is a problem I suspect an iTunes/QuickTime update will render your videos playable again.
Most people like me are not experiencing the problems you describe and I can honestly say all my videos and music are playing just fine.
I updated to QuickTime 7.1.3 after I updated and played with iTunes 7 so that didn't make any difference. I also repaired permissions before and after the updates and permissions were changed so that may have been important.
I don't know about the erasing of videos from the iPod as I don't have a video capable one.
I totaly agree about the need for a Music Video library to go with the other libraries and I don't want my music videos in the main music library. This is preferable to using a Music Videos Smart Playlist. I currently find my music videos/behind the scenes interviews etc in the Movies library because their Video Kind is set to "Movies" and the option to change that is greyed out which is a pain. Temporarily I added a grouping tag of "Music Videos" to those videos and edited the Music Videos Smart Playlist to look for that Grouping tag, so at least I can find old and new Music Videos in one place.
I've had no issues with Cover Flow whatsoever and despite extensive use of iT7 have had no crashes so can't comment on that.
The Get Album Art feature only works if your track information is correct and the songs are available in the iTunes Store because that's where the artwork comes from. It also won't work if you already have artwork in place from another source so you'd have to remove that to make way for the iTunes artwork if you're wanting higher quality artwork than you could elsewhere.
The thinking behind the categories change is that you have separate libraries so you can go straight to the appropriate one for movies, podcasts etc. The seach box features a drop-down menu to narrow your search down to All, Album, Artist, Composer or Song so whichever library or playlist you go into you can narrow a search with that.
I am not finding iTunes 7 to be sluggish at all and having tested its cpu usage I know that's using about 1.5% when idle to 7-10% when playing a song.
Clearly something is wrong with your installation so assuming you've done the usual practices of repairing permissions and even a reboot for good measure then maybe a reinstall of iT7 and QT is in order.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you or Apple crack it and all will be well again.

  • Is there a script to...

Is there a script that could take all the artists in my library beginning with A, assign them to a playlist, then those starting with B to another, and on and on throughout the alphabet?
I'm trying to use Fetch Art to get art for everything in my library, but I have 21,000+ songs. Applying a script or a program to batch-process even 1000 songs usually makes something crash, so I'm looking for something organized I can do systematically. To find songs without artwork, I use a script from doug's applescript.
Any advice? Let me know if I need to be more detailed...
    Thanks!
    Alec

Or make 26 smart playlists with the condition "Artist begins with [a-z]" with live updating. That way, whenever you add tracks they will automatically go to the appropriate playlist. You would also need a catchall playlist for any artists that might start with a number or special character.

  • How do i get artwork to show on every album

in itunes, i have successfully assigned the artwork to all my albums, has taken me ages! but ive done it.
however, it only shows it for one of my albums wen ive taken the ipod out and looked to see if it has worked.
how do i get it to work for all my albums?

or, you can skip all the hassle of this and get a
freeware called Fetch Art (google it) that
automatically gets album art for all the songs that
    it can identify
Right, but just so you know, he/she already has the artwork in iTunes

  • Why won't album artwork import from a CD into Mac iTunes?

I used to have a Windows version of iTunes, and when I imported CDs, the album artwork was automatically added. However, now I'm using Mac iTunes on an iBook, and when I import the very same CDs, no album artwork is added on any of them. I've also noticed that when I transfer the archived songs from the Windows hard drive (via a flash drive) to the Mac iTunes, the artwork is there -- it's just not adding the artwork when I import the CDs directly into Mac iTunes. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Standard Audio CDs don't come with artwork.
Some recent CDs might, but I've never seen them.
I guess there was an iTunes plug-in or similar utility on your PC that searched for artwork and added it.
To add artwork on a Mac there are several scripts (www.dougscript.com) and programs that can find it for you.
Search on versiontracker.com for Clutter, iTunescool, Fetch Art

  • Changing song names and adding album artwork

Some of the songs that i imported into itunes by some artists, lets say for example "Less Than Jake" shows up as "less than jake" (uncapitalized) when i go to change the first letter which is an "l" to a capital "L" i successfully change the name in itunes and then when i am done changing ti and click on another song it just goes back to lower case
does anyone know how to fix that so that the names that i fix stay fixed not just go back
Another question that i have is some of my artists albums do not have album artwork and when i right click on the album and say get album artwork nothing happens. And i already registered with itunes store so its not that it wont get the album artwork because i didn't register with itunes. Is there anyway to copy the album picture from the internet and get it associated with that specific album in itunes anyway?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

      Windows XP Pro

    Greg,
Are you just typing over the name as it appears in your iTunes library?
I am not familiar with the Windows version, but in the Mac version, the best way to edit song title/artist/genre, etc is to select a song and then "Get Info" - in the Mac version that is under the "File" menu - a right click will probably work for you. There are several tabs on the Get Info screen - go to the "Info" tab and you will see what to do.
As for album artwork, iTunes has been pretty good about finding artwork for for those albums which I purchased from the iTunes store, but was no help at all in finding art for the (many) albums I ripped from my CDs.
You COULD find the album art yourself, using Google 'Images' but I think you will find it to be too tedious, and most of the album cover JPEGs you will find by that method are too small and of poor quality.
It would be better to use a third party application. For Mac users I can recommend Fetch Art (http://members.cox.net/afriesen3//fetchart/index.html); I expect there is something similar for Windows, but I can't be specific.

  • HELP! "Original File Could Not Be Found" iTunes 7 UPGRADE

I have upgraded to iTunes 7 and now it is asking me to search for every single song in my library. We are talking about over 3k songs. I don't have the time, or want to think about doing this manually. Isn't there a fix to delete a file and then ask iTunes to re-search your files to import the library? None of the music files are missing. They are all still there in the music folder. Thanks for the help.
    Kevin

Since this problem seems to be ongoing, I wonder if pooling some information might get us closer to a solution. Here are my observations; please refute or confirm based on your experience:
    1. In every case, if one song on an album can't be found, then every song on that album can't be found.
    2. In my case, not every album is affected, but after trying numerous fixes (none successful) the same albums are consistently not found.
    3. Some have indicated that music added their library after a certain date is the music that cannot be found. That is not my observation. Sorting my library by Date Added or Date Modified does not show any pattern in my case.
    4. I believe the most (but not all) albums which cannot be found also have problems with the album artwork, but I can't tell if that is a symptom or a cause.
Whether the artwork can be seen or not is not consistent. Sometimes iTune's browser window shows the album art, but if you 'Get Info' for any track on the affected album, no artwork is displayed in the get info panes. At various other stages of troubleshooting, the browser does not show the album art either, but then at some later stage, the art reappears in the browser (but never in the get info tabs).
Many, but not all, of the affected albums have art which I have added, using one of two Apple Scripts: a. Fetch Art (v1.2 - http://members.cox.net/afriesen3//fetchart/index.html), or, b. Find Album Artwork with Google (http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts11.php?page=1#findalbumartwork).
Most of the 2000 songs in my library were ripped from my collection of CDs, some were purchased from the iTunes store, and a few are mp3 downloads or ripped from vinyl LPs. Many of my CDs are from obscure artists which are not available from the iTunes store, so album artwork was not available from Apple.
Of the 23 albums (or partial albums) I have purchased from the iTunes Store, 9 will play and 14 won't. Of the 9 that will play, the album artwork is visible in both the browser and 'get info' tabs. Of the 14 'bad' albums (which have songs that cannot be found), the artwork is visible in the browser, at first, but NOT in the 'get info' tabs. After looking at get info, on the 'bad' albums the album art often (but not always) disappears from the browser, and re-launching iTunes will sometimes (but not always) cause the 'bad' album art to reappear in the browser (but never in the get info panes).
Sorry for the long post, but maybe with more data, a pattern will emerge that may point to a solution.

  • Possible to imort the image of CD-covers via CDDB?

    Hi,
I'm a new apple user and importing my music cd's into my notebook to import them later into my ipod.
I thoughd that when you imported music while on line, CDDB didn't only find all artiest names and track tittles etc. for you, but also that it's possible to import the cover image of the cd you're importing.
Has anyone info and if it's possible, how to do this?
    Thanks for all help

You can't get the picture at Gracenote (CDDB), but there are many ways to find them.
    Some applications:
    Fetch Art
    Clutter
    Some scripts:
    iTunesCool
Find Album Artwork with Google v2.3
There might be more, but I've listed the applications and scripts I have used.
They all perform fair to good (in my opinion).
    Hope this helps.
