Phantom audio in Safari

When my wife starts Safari on her MacBook Pro she gets audio in the background from what sounds like an old CNN newscast. It is the same report every time, which eventually stops after 10 min or so. We cannot find the file or app that is playing this. Where should we look? and what for

  • WVC210 - How Do I get Audio using Safari

I have read all the posts that say audio is not supported in Safari.  I believe the primary reason is MPEG4 is not used with the Safari browser.  However, I have seen competing products that support audio in Safari browser, so there must be a way to do it.
I'm trying to get the audio in my iphone 4.  Can anyone guide me in the right direction?  Is there a third party application that will stream the MPEG4 video with audio?  It is not possible is not an answer.

    Hello community,
I would like to provide an update for those of you with Android devices connecting to the WVC210. The application IP Cam Viewer now supports listen only audio for these cameras. (Paid version only, $4.99 as of today) I have tested it with the WVC210 and it does work. I did have to lower the MJPEG video size and quality in order to get clear audio on my phone. It also appears that the application utilizes the MPEG4 stream when you don't have audio enabled and MJPEG when you do. So far I have not had any luck streaming audio from the PVC2300 camera. If you have an iPhone and get a chance to try IP Camera Viewer, please post and let us know if it works.

  • HT204291 Airplay video but no audio through Safari

I have a problem with Airplay not allowing audio from Safari based media. I am trying to steam an NFL game but the audio will not transfer from built in speakers to Airplay. I have noticed this is an issue on the discussion boards and have done all they suggest. Help!

    Hi,
Many vendors, if not all have not released drivers for Windows 8 officially therefore we have to wait. The following forum may help:

  • Download streaming audio via Safari 7

I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere but I can't find an answer. Anyway, once upon a time it was possible to download streaming audio via Safari's "activity" tab in the drop down "Window" menu. I know it's possible to do the same thing via the "Develop" menu but can't figure it out. I am trying to download audio files from a public domain language learning site and could do it easily before the "activity" tab disappeared.

Here is a link to the audio I am trying to download. As you say, this was once simple and I would be happy just having access to the website. But it inexplicably goes down for long periods and in any case, having the sound files makes it more portable.

I understand there is software that can do this but if I can download without it, I'd prefer not to spend the money.

  • No audio from Safari

    Hi,
I'm getting no audio from Safari since the 3.2.1 release.
Tested from iTunes - audio ok
Tested from same site/link that produces no audio in Safari through Firefox - audio ok
So my conclusion is that my system is ok but Safari isn't, any ideas? Thanks in advance!
    J.

Update...I reset Safari, Quit, re-started my Mac, Safari audio now working ok - great, but don't know why.

  • Using Airport Express / Airtunes to play audio from Safari / OSX?

Just bought my first Airport Express. Can I use Airport Express / Airtunes to play out audio from Safari / OSX (or other applications) to my home stereo?

    Hi Fenneberg:
Welcome to Apple Discussions and congrats on your AE purchase!
You'll need a 3rd application to stream music to your AE from other applications like Safari. It's called Airfoil and it can be found at: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/
    I hope this helps!

  • Phantom Audio...

Hi guys, I hope you can help,
I am editing a movie in iMovie and have made several successful edits previously using it. My latest project is driving me up the wall. Every time I preview the whole thing in iMovie everything is as it should be. When I export it - whether to a file, iDVD or online - it drops phantom audio clips from other sections of the movie into the background. Often this audio is from clips I have not used, or clips that were on 10 minutes earlier or later. I've tried deleting the clip and dropping it in again, and deleting the music and dropping that in again too....so nothing 'original' remains at that point. There is no trace of the audio when watching it in iMovie, but when exported....it's still there!
This thread discusses the same issue:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread....9135&tstart=60
Can anyone tell me what causes it and how to fix it? I am about to lose about a weeks worth of work if I start again, and I suspect even that might not cure it...
IMovie 8.0.5 with OSX Leopard 10.6.1 on a brand new iMac...

So, just to clarify, are you saying to only use 25%, 50%, 100%, 200%, 400%, 800%, or can I use increments of 5 per say, and nothing odd like the 57% or 82% etc??
How can I tell if it is one of the numbers with a "tic mark"?
    Thanks

  • No audio in safari or other apps

cant hear any audio streaming over the net while in safari, if I get an email attach with a .mov or .wma file cant hear the audio, I have downloaded some things to my hard drive and when playing them in quicktime cant hear audio. if I hit the volume up or down button on keyboard, it makes the beep showing you the adjustment, but cant hear anything out of what im trying to play.

    D,
Most games and browser plugins have a tendency to change your default sound settings resulting in the loss of sound for some applications,
To recover them go to your Applications/Utilities folder and click on Audio/MIDI Setup. Under 'Audio Ouput' make sure your format settings are at 44100.0 Hz. If they are not, simply click on the 'format' pane and choose the appropriate figure.
Alternately, try simply launching GarageBand. Doing this automatically resets the audio back to it's original (44100.0 Hz) default values.
    Hope this helps.

  • Display audio in Safari

When I am using a chat client in Safari the input audio in my display is not recognized. The microphone works in other programs, I can record and be heard, etc., but never when I use it in Safari. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • No audio in Safari

Checking a few sites today I could not pull up any audio. The speakers work fine (iTunes) so I know the circuits are working but when viewing embedded YouTube videos, or even YouTube itself, or PJTV (Flowplayer device). Or even a streaming MP3, nothing. This has never happened before.
    Any suggestions?

Weird. Very weird. I went to the Midi Controller as directed in the link and the instructions were:
Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the Audio Output setting.
Change the Audio Output setting to 44100.0 Hz.
    Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
My MIDI setup said the "output was not supported."
I then closed that out, went to Garage Band, plunked a couple of notes on the piano. recorded it. Played it back, and rebooted Safari.
Voila! Everything was OK again...until I played an embedded YouTube. It went silent again.
The streaming MP3 was fine. The Flowplayer was OK. Even a YouTube from the YouTube site was good. I'm back to "dead" again. Nothing works.
    Two questions:
    1) why did the Garage Band thing work? It doesn't make sense. (Thanks, though!) and
    2) what now? Any suggestions?

  • Is it possible to turn off audio in safari?

I keep getting these annoying audio ads ... no way I can find to turn them off, except to possibly silence the audio for the entire browser ...
if any of the major browsers (Safair, Firefox, or Chrome) can do this, I'd be much obliged!
    will

    Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to  " Remove saved names and passwords".

  • Unable to playback audio on Safari iOS

    Hi,
I am testing a simple Edge Animate animation that it has only 1 audio file and 1 simple button with audio playback action. Nothing more.
I test it on Safari Mac OS and works normal, but I am unable to make it work on Safari iOS 7 for the iPad.
Nothing happens when I touch the button. I tried with preload audio and not, with MP3 and M4A, and my browser works OK as a regular HTML5 audio playback file works simply fine. Now I am clueless.
I am using Edge Animate 4.1 for Mac OS 10.9
    Thanks
    Ignacio

I am using 2014.1 that creates 5.0 Edge Animate files according to what I see in the edge.js files. I think it's the latests as Creative Cloud doesn't offer me any other update so far...
I want to transform this HTML into a phonegap app, and it's not working there either, so I have no interest on testing it on Chrome, also this may work on Safari, so I'm only interested on that, I don't care about other browsers...
Same thing in Edge Animate CC 2014 works perfectly. I have read in other threads of this forum that there are some issues with latest version and audio playback on Safari iOS.

  • Phantom audio pops in FCP 7

I'm a working on an FCP 7 project with 10 audio tracks and am experiencing a phantom pop at a specific place in the timeline.
Here's the weird part: I can not isolate the pop. When I turn off any one of the tracks, the pop disappears. It doesn't matter which track I turn off, the pop is gone. The pop also does not appear on any of the original tracks. I've tried replacing each and every one from the viewer to no effect.
Also, if I play 15 frames before the pop, I don't hear it.
When I output there's a colossal sound explosion at the pop point in the timeline.
I've done the obvious things, trashed preferences. Deleted audio waveform cash and render files. But nothing works.
I'm losing my mind and have to finish on Tuesday. Any help would be very much appreciated.
FCP 7 and 10.6 both up to date. Quad-core MacPro with 16G RAM

    The likely cause is either:
    A) you have audio sources with different sampling rates mixed in the timeline. If this is the case, resample everything to 48khz/16bit.
    or
    B) You have overwhelmed the ability of FCP to mixdown the audio in Real Time. If this is the case, do an audio mixdown (look it up in FCP help) and/or increase the number of audio tracks for real time audio mixing in FCP's preferences. With 10 tracks used, I'd increase it to 12 or more. The setting can be found in the User Preferences>General section.

  • No Audio in Safari after DVD-Playback via "optical out"

    Hi,
i'm using an optical cable to connect my Mac Mini to a hifi receiver. Audio works great in Safari & Firefox and so on, even digital out (dts, Dolby Digital) is working with Mac DVD-player.
But after DVD-playback the audio doesn't work anymore in Safari & Firefox. I have to completely quit Safari or Firefox and reopen to get audio back (e.g. Youtube or Apple Quicktime Videos).
    How can i fix this?
    Message was edited by: Supercoil1

    I have the same problem.
Apparently, the "Digital Out" channel cannot be shared by multiple running applications, the first one starting takes it and keeps it. You have to stop it to allow an other (single) application to use it instead.
To me it is a bug : the front most application should take the Digital Out channel, and release it when an other one becomes front most, but this bug has apparently being going on for a long time, and Apple does not seem interested in its correction.

  • No audio in safari from flash players

    Hi,
I have Safari 6.0.5 running on OSX 10.7.5.  For some reason audio will not load from any strictly audio flash players (i.e. soundcloud) and ultimately ends up crashing Safari. Audio will however play fine via youtube or any other video format.  I have the latest version of Flash as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

The Problem is most likley the website having compadiblity issues. Try reseting Safari, or re-installing Flash. You may also need to enable flash in the safari settings. Does this happen in other browsers? If it works in other browsers try calling Support.
