Phantom Emails In Sent Box

My phone Cox mail account shows 12 emails in the sent folder, but when I open the folder it's empty. How do I get rid of the number 12 in the sent folder ?

richie72846,
I can certainly understand your hesitancy with trying this reset. The only
other option would be if Cox has an email app available that you can use
instead of using the phone's native email app. Given your details, I can see
why the account may be glitchy, as it seems to be in a conflicting format of
what may be supported. I recommend trying a Cox 3rd party app and if that is
not an option or doesn't work for you, the final step would be to reset the
email in your phone.

• Emails in sent box appear to have been sent, but are never received

I have an intermittent problem which is causing me no end of trouble for my business. Since about November last year, it seems that a certain percentage of my iCloud emails are never delivered to the recipient. There is nothing to identify failed messages -- they appear in my Sent box normally and as far as I can tell have been delivered normally. Some of them have been "new" messages, starting a new thread (which I suppose may possibly be trapped by someone's spam filter) but the majority are replies to another email, which I think are very unlikely to have been filtered as spam. I believe the people telling me that my emails have simply never arrived in their inbox at all. Messages with attachments and without attachments both fail. I am using the standard Apple mail client on my iMac.
This only happens with my Apple email account -- although to be fair I send much more email through that account so it is not necessarily a fair comparison. It is nothing to do with Apple filters for obscenity -- there is nothing at all objectionable in the emails that appear to be failing. Most of them are very standard business communications.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? I wonder if I need to BCC myself on every message to see that it has come through (and even then, would that prove that all recipients received the message?)
Many thanks to anyone who can help

• My eMail can receive - send seems to work (emails in sent box) but are not actually sent - unless I am responding to an email

I am not an iPad guy (its my wifes) but really cannot figure out what is happening. She can receive email. She can send email but it never gets there - it does appear in the Sent Messages and that "Whirly Gig" spins when you think its being sent - BUT when you respond to an email it seems to work - when you send an eMail to yourself it goes out and comes back. We had a storm last and ever since then this has been a problem. I wonder whether it was plugged in and got a power surge but cannot remember. As well when my wife downloads books from the library it seems to work but it does not.HELP

You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

• No email in Sent Box

Hi all
None of my emails which are sent with attachments are stored in my Sent Items mailbox, and therefore I can't search for them or know if I actually sent it or not. Why is this?

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

• Why dos my sent box show 140 emails when I have none?

My iPhone 5 seems to be having an issue with phantom mails, but unlike most of the questions across the forum, this relates to an empty sent box showing 211 emails (but it appears that there are none, and I have deleted all my previously sent messages).
Anyone?

My computer does this too. It also has made my Sent Button disappear and refers me to a "send later" solution. which is do not get or have. Shake the tree, maybe a nut will fall. Crack the nut and there you will find the Chinese answer!

Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Universal Access and in the Seeing tab make sure that the Display Enhance contrast: is set to Normal.
Alternatly, try holding the ⌃⌥⌘ (control command alt) keys and then pressing the , (comma) key a few times.

That changes things a little bit , login to icloud.com and see if you can find it in your sent folder.
If it is there you did send, just need to wait until you phone syncs "sent folder" perhaps on wifi.
If it is not, then I would say it is lost and you may have to send again. They have 20 megs limit, so make sure that message plus attachment is under that limit.

• Some emails I send are arriving with attachments but with no text in the body of the message. In the sent box my emails look OK. So it took me a while to know this was happening.

I have an Apple Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 with a 2.7 GHZ Intel Core 15 Processor. 8GB Memory.
Just discovered that some emails I have sent with attachments have arrived with the attachments OK but my message has disappeared from the email. In the Sent box, the email looks OK with message intact. Has anyone else experienced this? No idea what to do.

This is the Mac Pro desktop forum.
In the received message does the subject appear correctly?
Is just the body message field blank?
What app is the recipient using?
Can they try another pp?
Is there anything strange in the body? Like special characters?

• Some SENT emails do not appear in SENT box

I have the latest Mavericks OS x operating system and fully updated. Some email I send do not appear in the SENT box. It is infuriating. I do not know whether they have reached their destination until I get a reply. Somestime I don't get a reply so where has the email gone. I have search all boxes, turned email accounts off and on, shut down my PC but still this problem persists. I have an iPad and a 5s iPhone and this problem does not occur with these devices so it is not account problem. I am with SKY YAHOO. Derek

Downloading the new operating system Yosemite seems to have cleared this problem - for now !

• Why my sent emails are not showing up in the sent box

The emails I'm sending are not showing up in my sent box. Why is this happening?

- Did they show before?
- Are you sending from the mail app?
- Try sending from another account.
- Try a reset. Nothing will be lost.

Hi Linda,
This is Strange.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/MessageRules.plist.backup
Note, in 10.5 & up /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/ may or may not exist.
