Phantom engineer

Way back in July (after several telephone calls to half a dozen different people in two continents, one of which lasted 1 and a quarter hours - but that's another story for the complaints department) I managed to get an engineer booked for Monday 20 August 2012 between 1pm and 6pm to come and replace an old junction box with a new master socket (this, I was informed, is known in the trade as 'Conversion of hard-wired master socket to Linebox and Regularisation of illicit master socket'). BT confirmed this appointment on 18 August 2012 both by email ('Get ready: our engineer's visiting soon‏') and by voicemail. So, yesterday on 20 August, I 'got ready' and waited...
No engineer.
Shortly after 6pm I telephoned 0800 800 150 (the contact number given on BT's web site for 'tracking an order'). The first assistant couldn't help, but put me through to a second assistant. After some time she informed me that the appointment was confirmed, that an engineer had been assigned, and that the engineer 'was at the exchange' (why?) and would contact me.
No contact.
At 7pm I again telephoned 0800 800 150. A long conversation with two different assistants on two continents proved utterly futile.
I hung up and tried again. The first assistant couldn't help, but offered to transfer me. I hung on in a queue for about 15 minutes and hung up close to 8pm.
This may be the time to part company with BT, unless anyone can get this fixed now.

Well, an engineer turned up, unannounced, at 8am this morning and did the conversion in a half hour or so. He was fine, but didn't appear to be the one 'assigned' yesterday.
I've absolutely no idea whether this is the result of any of my numerous telephone calls or emails to BT, as they simply do not communicate. And this will be the subject of my complaint. I've needlessly wasted time on telephones and computers fruitlessly trying to establish what was happening, when all that was required was a simple call from BT along the lines of 'Sorry, your engineer won't / couldn't make it today, but will be round first thing tomorrow.' You expect, though you do not welcome, non-communication from Banks, the NHS, etc. (add your own baneful institution), but not from an organisation whose core business is, after all, COMMUNICATIONS.
As far as I am concerned, BT are on probation with me. A previous occupant set my house up for cable and I receive begging letters almost daily from Virgin: up to now these have gone straight into recycling, but I'll be taking a closer look next time.

    Hi Sandeep,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have checked all three possibilities. Item is not Engineering item and already assigned to Org. Also the BOM doesnot exist. Kindly note that I donot have any issue in creating bill of a standard item. We are using phantom item for the first time so tell me if phantom item need some special setup or some profile option to be active etc? I am using below attributes in inventory. Kindly go through it and suggest.

  • Engineer to Logical Model in SQL Developer EA4 causes problems

    I'm working with SQL Developer 3.0 EA4 (Build MAIN-03.97)
Unfortunately I fond out, that it would be impossible to use the function " Engineer to Logical Model" any more after I change the relational model. In datamodeler.log I got the error message line "[AWT-EventQueue-0] ERROR MDBAction - java.lang.NullPointerException" for each time I use the function "Engineer to Logical Model". I try it out with the sample model "sh_cre_all.sql" and with following steps:
    1) Import via DDL File – no problem
    2) Engineer to Logical Model – no problem
    3) Change some attributes in the relational model – no problem
    4) Again Engineer to Logical Model – no problem
    5) Save, Exit an Open the sample – no problem
    6) Again Step 3 and 4 – no problem
    7) Add a table via drag&drop from an oracle schema – no problem
    8) Save, Exit an Open the sample – no problem
    9) Engineer to Logical Model no longer possible!!!
    Bernd

I have experienced similar problems with 'Engineer to Logical model'.
    The scenario was following:
Creating Logical model using 'Engineer to Logical model' from existing Relational model.
Modifying the Relational model and 'Engineer to Logical model' again. No exception occured but the Logical model wasn't updated accordingly.
Removing all entities from the Logical model.
Trying to 'Engineer to Logical model' again. No entities were created in the Logical model (even after few tries).
So I got to situation where I was unable to generate a Logical model, which was quite frustrating.
The workaround was to create new Data Modeller project and import to it from the original project - the 'Engineer to Logical model' worked again.

  • My iPad is double downloading iTunes TV series shows and when I delete, the extra show does not delete from the available memory.  I have lost almost 30GB of my 64 to this phantom shows.

I am losing available memory on my iPad (64 GB 3rd gen) and it appears to lose memory because some TV shows that I have downloaded from iTunes are appearing twice in my downloads.  Both download, but when Only appear as 1 show on my "videos".  After viewing the show, I delete, but the duplicate show appears to be still there somewhere (not visible anywhere) taking up the same amount of memory that showed before downloading.  It reduces my available memory to download other shows.  The general settings do not show any of these phantom shows taking any memory, but the total available is much, much less than what is showing for all usage such as music, videos, photos, apps, etc
Is it possible to delete a show from the download portion of iTunes if you have already seen a show and do not want to waste time or memory downloading again?  The only way that I know is to let it download completely and the delete from "Videos".

John0618. Did you ever get a response or solution to problem?  I have the same problem (starting about three months ago).

  • Engineer visit re: new infinity order need urgent ...

i ordered Infinity yesterday and received all teh relevant emails from BT confirming order.
One email states the engineer will visit from 13:00 and 18:00 Ive just check the status of my order and it now states the followin info where previously a time was given for the enginner:
Your appointment is no longer required, as our engineer can connect your line without requiring access to your premises. The engineer will work to connect your line at the exchange.
I am very concerned who do I call? - I dont want to call and go to India becuase people on the forum seem to have issues with enginner visits when they have been routed to the team there - Im disabled and need my connection  - My understanding is that an engineer does need to attend the property to install the bt modem vDSL?

    Hi there,
You can safely ignore that notification. The engineer does need access to your property, as he will need to install the BT Openreach VSDL modem and the Infinity SSFP (Service Specific Face Plate) onto your current master socket.
    I hope this info helps.

  • Items below to phantom items are not available in ASCP workbenck.

    Hi Experts,
I came up one issue on ASCP, consider following BOM. Assume that all below items are MRP planned , all items supply qty is zero,
FG ( finished good, WIP supply type - Push)
    |-> PH ( Phantom, WIP Supply type - Phantom)
    |-> P (Purchase item, WIP Supply type - Push)
Now I have entered forecast against FG. After running data collection and plan, I can see forecast for FG. It is suggesting work order for FG but not suggesting purchase order for P part. While going in detail, I found that BOM data is successfully imported from source instance by data collection. But in plan, I can not see any child part for FG.. either PH or P. And this will be reason of not creating planned order for P. So can you please help me to find out reason behind this behavior.

    Hi Dipak,
Check the value for profile option MRP: Explode Demand Through Phantom Component. It should be set to yes for planning to recognize the requirements for the components below the phantom.
    Prabhu Chepuri.

  • How can I make sure the engineer comes this time?

Hi there I noticed at the beginning of last week that my broadband had slowed to a crawl. I checked the phone and could not get a dial tone. Ringing our number made the phone ring but no conversation was possible. Broadband was synced at 640 Kbps I got the automated line checker which found a fault near my property - the telegraph pole in the graphic. I fault was logged on May 1st and I got a repair date for next Wednesday 9th which I wouldn't be able to make so I went to rearrange and was able to pick last Saturday morning 5th May. About 2 hours after i rearranged it I had a call from Mumbai, he said someone was going to be coming on the original date of Wednesday, I assumed that as I had just rearranged this would not now be happening, but couldnt get him to understand that the new dte of saturday 5th wasshoes ing on my fault update page. Sure enough nobody came on the Saturday . I have now rearranged it for the afternoon of Friday 11th May My question is how do I find out if an engineer is still going to come on Wednesday afternoon (I can try to take the afternoon off from work) or has that now been properly rearranged for Friday, given that last time it was irrelevant that Saturday was showing on my fault update page for the engineers visit? Is there any way I can confirm this is logged properly on the BT systems? Sorry about the long paragraphs posting from an iPad doesn't result in correct formatting!

Haha, the engineer turned up today, on the wednesday, which was the original date allocated!
Despite me rearranging for last saturday morning, (showing up on my "track my fault") then, following a non show, rearranging for next friday afternoon, (showing up on my "track my fault") the OR enginner phones me (on my mobile obviously) to tell me he is her at 12.20 on the wednesday.
Luckily I was at work and could get home in 20 mins, and the chap (really nice) said he would make a start. By the time I got home he told me he had fixed it - the connection was ?corroded (6 yr old house) on the BT side of the fence.
There is a total disconnect between the "track my fault" page with BT and Openreach
If my mobile had not been in signal range and I had not been able to get home to meet this really nice OR enginner, and had they not turned up on Friday with an afternoon lost from work I would not have been happy!
I have an installation date for BT Infinity in 2w time, on price alone, but hope i don't live to regret this
I would appreciate a reply as to why "rearrange my appointment" has no effect

  • How to identify difference between Configure To Order (CTO) and Engineer To Order (ETO) items

    Hi All,
We are working on Oracle Database 10g
We have to develop a code which involves Configure To Order (CTO) and Engineer To Order (ETO) items.
Can anyone advise is there any table and the corresponding column in the database which will help identify if an item is a CTO or ETO.

  • Multi Level Phantoms

Looking for guidance / lessons learned on phantoms. I have several assemblies that use multi level phantoms assemblies and the problem I am encountering is when the the BOMs all get pushed up to the top level, the shop order cannot be cut due to duplicates.
A very basic example is I have screw that goes into a plate. The plate is a phantom and used on two different sub assemblies. These sub assemblies are phantoms and report to the same top level assembly that I am building. When I attempt to cut a shop order, the screw that was all the way at the bottom appears twice on the top level BOM when the two phantom BOMs are pushed up and causes an errorpreventing me from moving forward.
I currently set my special procurement type 50 in MM03. I have heard that I could set it up on the individual BOMs, however I do not see this fixing the problem as the material and item number of the duplicate will remain the same regardless of how it was set up.
Any advice or inputs? Please let me know if you need more detail.
    Thanks.

    Hello
Can you please provide more details about the error? Is there an error message? Can you please provide the message ID, number and the description?

  • Open letter to the chief designer/engineer of the Q10

    Premises:
    - I have never bothered to post anything on any forum in my whole life but today I could not hold it.
    - I have been using blackberry devices every 5 minutes for the last 6 years of my awake life.
    - I work in a bank and half of my 2000 contacts have a blackberry as a work phone.
This is the rudest I will get in this post and I hope you will publish it: "Chief engineer, what the hell passed through your mind when you decided to remove the trackpad from the new Q10?"
One step back. Let's go back few years.
Bold 9000 was the best handset I have ever had. The mechanical trackpad was razor sharp and accurate and fast. Yes maybe I had to replace it once every 18 months but who cares, and how much can it cost you guys anyway a little ball of plastic? At that time I used to challenge any iPhone user to see who could type faster. I always won. If I still had it I could still win. It doesn't matter that I type with 2 fingers on my PC keyboard and that I have a permanent RSI on my right arm. I was lightning fast. Sometimes I can type even without looking at the BlackBerry keyboard.
Then you decided to make the keyboard smaller or remove it all together to feel like an iPhone. Not a great choice. Keyboard (together with the trackpad and instant emails) is all you had. And believe me that was more than enough. I feel crippled when using the Bold 9700 and I do not have giant hands. The software has been designed to maximize the number of clicks to do anything. Why should I waste a click to open the tray when 3/4 of the screen is empty?!? I endured 18 months of my contract waiting for the latest bold.
At some point you realized that the keyboard was important and you made it bigger again. Fantastic! Your realized that most business people do like the physical keyboard and they use their phone for writing and reading. Many of them. Very often. And they have to be quick.
But then today I go to try the new BB Bold Q10 and I realized that you have removed the trackpad. So instead of moving any of my thumbs 2mm higher to click and scroll now my fingers have to travel a much longer distance to do the same in a more awkward and wasteful way. Things keep getting less accurate. Mechanical trackpad, then the worse optical one, now what?
I went on Ebay. Some new old BB Bold 9000 are still for sale at 70 GBP. I will buy a couple today. This will keep me running for 2-3 years. By then I hope that you will have either lost your job because your company went bust or repented and produced what business people really want.
I hope not too many other people will be bidding with me today.
    E.S.

I was on BOLD 9900 before, I loved it, but moved on to Z10, and now got the Q10. Honestly - the most superb phone in the world ! Don't need the trackpad
