Phantom Lines in CP (6.1.0.319) Software Simulations

Does anyone else have a problem with phantom lines showing up in their published CP software simulation slides?
They don't display in my previewed copy, but do in the published SWF... and only in my software simulations, not in non-recorded slides.
To see what I'm referring to, here are two screen shots. The first one shows (SWF) the phantom lines and the second one (preview) with without any phantom lines.

Any suggestions for correcting this problem?

These are usually caused by Captivate compressing the SWF file. You can try Edit -> Preferences-> Swf Size and Quality, an de-select the compression options. Then republish.

Phantom Line On PDA App

I have a PDA application that looks fine on the PC, but when I run it on a PDA a phantom line appears across the top of the screen.
Can anybody tell me where this is coming from! It has only just appeared, I have been working with this application for some time.
The main screen is made up of an oversized tab control.
I have attached images of the PC & PDA screen shots.

I may know what is going on, but it will take a little explaining. When I started reading your post, I said to myself "I wonder if he/she is using a tab control?". Almost before the thought ended, I read that you were using a tab control.
I wrote a PDA application with a non-oversized tab control with multiple tabs. As I kept adding functionality, I kept adding tabs. Eventually, I added a tab, and the line showed up. At the time, though, I didn't realize the cause. I even showed the application to a integrator who worked on PDA stuff, and he could not explain it. As it turned out, if I shrunk the font size of my tab text, the line went away. Now even when the "problem" tab was added, it did not extend beyond the right boundary of the tab control on the PDA, PDA emulator, or PC version, so I think it is a bug of some sort. I needed to leave about 15% of the entire width of the tab control free, so that the the left side of the first tab to the right side of the last tab was no more than 85% of the tab control width.
I suspect you are having the same sort of buggy issue with your tab control. I have no proof, but just a strong gut feeling based on my experiences. Do you have titles on your tabs? if so, try shrinking the font. If not, maybe you need to have titles on your tabs. Who knows? Hopefully someone from NI will respond with a real solution.

Printing to Adobe PDF issues - phantom lines and "see through"

Hi,
I have a book I'm working on in InDesign. To export it for the printing company, I'm using "Print" and selecting the Adobe PDF print driver.
I'm setting the quality to high, images to 305dpi and the transparency flattener to high quality.
However, at various places in the book I have white lines surrounding image elements (generally when one is on top of another). There are also weird issues where a background "box" (with patterned border) shows through images on top (even though I've moved them to their own layer above).

These are flattening artifacts. The white lines are called stitching and usually don't affect high-resolution printing. I've never seen the others before, but they are most likely similar.
You can avoid this problem by exporting, rather than printing, to PDF with compatibility set for Acrobat 5 of higher.

2 line carplate number recognition using vision assistant software

I am doing FYP(Final Year Project). I am using national instruments vision assistant 2010 and want to recognize car plate number.
I already try out single line car plate number ready. Now my probelm is cannot recognize 2-line car plate number. I also still trying auto detect the car palte number and recognize the car palte number. I don't want to manuals select the car plate number. please find out for me solutions.

using simple calibration model, you realize that you disregard the lens distortion? It is also advisable that the camera is perpendicular to the inspected object. Here, a telecentric lens helps too.
The simple calibration performs direct conversion from pixels to real-world units. For example, if you know a real world object that you measure is 10 mm in size and it occupies 10 pixels on the image, then the conversion factor is 10mm/10pix = 1mm/pix.
So, you want to measure an object with size U (in pixels), you use the equation:
X = 1mm/pix * U (note that this is for horizontal direction, vertical direction is analogous)

Lines being printed that don't appear on PDF document created in Illustrator.. Pulling my hair out!

So here's the story:
I own a company that designs and sells sewing patterns for men's clothing to be made by home sewers. I have my patterns professionally drafted and sent to me as a poster-sized PDF. I then open it in Illustrator, move things around, change some fonts, etc... and make a 34" wide copy to be printed at a copy shop. That's all fine and dandy, and it prints out perfectly.
I then use Acrobat XI Pro to open the 34" version and print to Adobe PDF with the poster setting of 7.5" x 10" for people to print at home. Then I open each page of the multi-page PDF in Illustrator to add a border, alignment marks, page numbers, etc... and save as the same PDF.
Now here is where the weirdness begins. For some reason, there are random chunks of lines (identical to the pattern lines throughout the rest of the document) that aren't supposed to be there. They don't show up on my screen when I open the file in Illustrator or Adobe, but they get printed every time. I've even started the whole process from scratch, tested the 34" wide version at the print shop (prints perfectly), and split it into pages again, and the phantom lines are still there!
I've attached a photo I took of one of the pages in question. The file on my screen is the exact one I printed, and as you can see, they are definitely not the same
Can anyone help me? I can send the PDF files in question if need be!
Oh and if it helps, I have been saving the PDF files as Press Quality from Illustrator. Any other settings/info you need? Thanks very much in advance!

Yep, it definitely is a complicated workflow... But I'm not really sure of any other way to get from the 34" wide pattern to the home-sewing version which is split into pages and has alignment marks and whatnot. I'm very much an amateur that has figured it out as I went
I went through the page in the photo pretty thoroughly with the layer panel and I couldn't find any mystery lines... But I did find something interesting; when I click on any of the pattern lines, it shows the whole line of the pattern piece, which extends well past the edge of the artboard. So when I'm printing the poster-sized PDF to 7.5x10 pages, it's keeping all the anchor points of a line even if only a small piece of that is on the actual page.

Also, should I be keeping all the files I'm editing as .ai files and then only exporting to PDF for the very final product? I was doing that at first, but then using .pdf for the whole process didn't seem to make any difference.

... I wonder how this would effect the Xserve, all AD users can log into the machines my only problem is in pulling AD groups into OD. The Xserve OD DNS structure is seperate from AD, but I do have the Xserve bound to AD, I have unbound and rebound my macmini before I made the post to see if that would change anything but it did not, I think I will try the Xserve next.
Why is DNS independent? Not that it is related, but maintaining two DNS identities is going to lead to confusion at best and disaster at worst. If the primary domain is AD, you should be using only the AD DNS. In a normal AD promotion all the SRV records get created by default. While it is possible to create the service records for AD on OS X, it is usually not recommended. Too much management. My gut is to track down the absence of the GC service record. If you truly have independent DNS hosted on OS X and that is the primary resolver for the machine (assuming same domain), then try creating the svr record on OS X for the GC. Seems a bit odd but if you are at odds with the Windows admins, this might be your only way of proving that this is the issue.
You mention that users can log into machines. This is from the workstation. Have you tried dscl from the server or the workstation to see if you are able to browse the groups?

No signal from audigy 2zs line out j

Hey there....due to a virus, I recently had to format my dri've and reinstall XP and all my apps including software for my Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. Before the format I had my sound and video card connect to my TV to extend my PC display and audio to my home entertainment system. The external speakers were connected through the line out # jack on the rear of the sound card and I could hear everything playing just fine when my TV was on and the correct video signal line input was selected (video #2 in my case), but now I can't hear anything (video is playing back fine on the TV, just with no sound). I've checked my audio settings and I think they're correct - if there is a mute switch for any of the line out jacks in the creative audigy software or in windows' volume control panel I sure can't find it.
I'm sure its a settings thing because I didn't touch the cable connections, and I double checked to ensure they are all connected tightly/correctly as they were before the reinstall.
If anybody has any pointers, man that would be helpful....thanks!

Yup, my digital speakers are connected through the digital out jack.
Device manager shows the device working correctly - no issues or exclamation marks.
Not one ioda of hardware was moved, not one cable unplugged or any other config changed before or after the re-formatting of the hard dri've. Software o/s and applications only.
The soundblaster card properties in device manager shows no conflicts....everything is working fine, but there is a setting somewhere that is being missed I suspect; I have gone ever every option in all of the soundblaster audigy audio control software installed that came bundled with the card, checked online for latest drivers which I've got installed, and did a clean uninstall/reinstall using creative's 6 step-by-step guide. I also checked all windows xp based audio controls even though I've checked the option that enables the audigy controls to sync with the windows ones as you probably already know.
To my knowledge, there is no way to disable line out signal from this card - its there, you plug in your external and go. And with no config changes at all, no hardware changes, no cables unplugged etc. I don't know what else to do. (except email creative support which I did a few minutes ago).

RWIN to automatically add line items in FI document

Hi all!
I wish to know if is possible to automatically add line items in a FI document via RWIN and how.
My final goal is the following:
A user try to create an FI document with FB01 transaction.
He/She insert the appropriate line items manually.
He/She press the "Simulation" button
In simulation screen there are user's line items, PLUS some more that are necessary in some circumstances.
Is it possible to achieve this scenario?

Thai script line breaking in CS6

Hello,
I am having serious difficulty finding a way to implement acceptable line breaking in a long document I am working in Thai script. I am working with InDesign CS6, using the World-Ready Composer. I have tried a variety of differnet Thai fonts. The text I am flowing into the document has already been marked (by the author) with a large number of additional acceptable break locations (which I have converted to different types of spaces). The text still breaks randomly in the middle of strings (and also at the space locations -- but not seemingly with any priority).
I have tried using the standard Paragraph Composer as well. Some line spacing changes, and cursor behaviour over some strings is different, but the bad line breaks still happen.
I have also tried the same text in CS5 and CS4. Same problem.
The Language setting for styles is set to 'No Language'. I was certainly hopeful that the extra breaks marked in the text with thin or zero width spaces would provide enough line break flexibility. Does not seem so.
Would anyone here have any advice, or other (better) experience working with Thai?

Thanks very much for your reply. This was quite helpful. I was able to wrap all runs of Thai script letter characters with no break. I am actually importing InDesign Tagged Text into InDesign. I used the following regular expression to search and replace in the tagged text files.
Search: ([\u0E01-\u0E5B]+)
Replace: <cNoBreak:1>\1<cNoBreak:>
Using a GREP style in InDesign is an easier solution. Unfortunately there is a chance in the text I am working with that the resulting style will become nested within a piece of text already wrapped with a character style, so the local noBreak instruction is the only reliable way.
The World Ready Composer has added so much needed support for the OpenType font features required for complex script rendering. Much appreciated! I do hope in future versions of InDesign that support for these South Asian languages will continue to improve by adding the necessary text (morphology) analysis needed to implement real support for line breaking. (The characters in Thai belong to the Unicode line breaking class "SA", which indicates that software needs to provide this added support -- such as a dictionary lookup, or other analysis, to indicate which characters should be allowed to break after)
It feels like InDesign (at this point) is just treating all characters in these Thai text runs as an acceptable breaking location, and doing its best to stick close to the prefered justification word and letter spacing values.

Two Thin Pink Vertical Lines accross my Screen

I purchased an HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC early this July, 2014. By August, I realized a thin pink line was flashing accross my screen. I freaked out inmediately. Now, in September, two thing pink lines appeared.
What can I do?
I need a solution. Fast!
PS. HP has guarantee up to a year, is there a HP tech support that can change my screen in Manhattan?

I saw your post regarding the two pink lines you are getting across your screen. You can confirm that this is a hardware issue by connecting an external monitor to your notebook. If the external monitor has the lines then we know it is a software/driver issue however if you don't get the lines then we know it is hardware issue.
If it turns out it is a software problem then please reply back with your operating system and the product number for your Envy and we will look at reinstall your graphics driver.

Why did my audio & video lines change colors?

I was working in a sequence when suddenly all my lines changed colors on me. The audio and video lines are the exact same shade of blue and its very disorienting. Even after I alter an audio clip in Audition the colors don't change. I've tried quitting, restarting my mac, opening older projects... I can't get the original colored lines back. Is this some new software update? How do I get the different colored lines back?

Okay let me rephrase. The color change is weird but not a major issue. The major issue is that my audio waveforms aren't being displayed anymore.
Even after I expand that audio line theres no waveform... I need to see where my audio is peaking. Any idea whats going on or how to fix?

At present, I find it difficult to read the data correctly as the rows and columns are very close to each other.

This cannot be done with the *Reader* which is just for reading
documents (as it names says).
It would have to be done in the *source* documents prior to publishing
them as PDFs.

While you are in the wrong forum, the answer is no. Users of Reader
cannot alter a pdf, except for form filling and commenting when allowed.

CS6 - Brush bug - randomly draws straight lines when sketching

Hey everyone,
I noticed this bug that occurs when I use the brush tool. Whenever I'm sketching in a small region, it randomly draws a straight line, as if I never lifted my pen. It's like when you hold the shift key to make a straight line, except I'm not holding the shift key. However, this only happens if I'm drawing semi-closely and/or if I'm drawing semi-fast (not that fast though. The lines will connect even though I lifted my pen. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I updated my video card and tablet to its latest drivers but it hasn't fixed the issue.
Specs:
Windows 7 64 bit
Wacom intuos5 tablet
Nvidia GT 520 Graphics card
Photoshop CS6
Any help would be appreciated.

Allso have this from time to time.
The brush loses response and does little short straight lines here and there, it's a software glitch. I usually save my document when that happens, this usually snaps it out of it but a few times I had to wait then save again. I used to be able to just swap apps or click on layers or something but that doesn't work anymore.

I had the same promlem with CS4 trial, with my old Manhattan tablet and with my new Intuo's. I think it's a bug that comes in from time to time with panel, window focus changes. Or Id get up to fetch a cup of coffee and when I come back it's like that.
