Phantom movie!

Hi
New to i Web, managed to build a page containing a movie, published it to 'mobile me' and it worked! Brilliant. Realized that eventually I'd need to publish to an ftp, so got some space, re published my site to ftp - seemed fine, hyperlinks working - but no movie! Several days and forum searches and much coffee later and I have built another page (similar but different colours so I can tell which is which!), put movie on that, published it to mobile me and it works!
Any suggestions? I didn't use a 'movie page' template, just dragged it into the page. It's an .mp4 file.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What is the URL of the ftp situated site so we can view it first hand? When viewing the page go to the Windows menu and bring up the Activity window. There you can tell if any files that should be there are not.
If you plan on making many edits to the site and want to avoid having to upload that movie file each time look a these two methods:

Phantom movies keep re-appearing on iPad when syncing with iTunes.

Ok, so I purchased a few movies and TV shows on my iPad, downloaded them, watched them, loaded them to my computer for storage, and deleted them from my iPad- no problem. However, now whenever I plug my iPad into iTunes, that same content shows up in "Phantom" form (greyed out writing etc). They don't take up room on the iPad, just show up when you click on the "Movies" tab under the iPad in the "Devices" column. I have my iPad set to manually manage my music and movies. I can plug my iPad in, snyc it, right-click and delete the "phantom" content, hit sync, and BOOM! there they are again. They just keep showing up! It's really more anoying than anything, but I'd love to know how to get rid of them for good!

Hey, I was having this problem, too. The solution I've found is to go ahead and plug your iPad (this works with iPhones and iPod touches, too, I think) into your computer and check "Manually Manage Music and Videos." Then you want to click the "On this iPad" tab and scroll to the albums that are missing album artwork. Delete these manually and sync. Then you can uncheck "Manually Manage Music and Videos," check to sync music in the "Music" tab, and apply. After the sync your newest albums that you've downloaded directly on your iPad should be back in your library in the Music app with their album artwork displaying correctly.
Not sure what causes this, but it seems to almost always happen to me when I use iTunes on my iPad or iPhone to buy things. Sometimes it also happens to items I've purchased from iTunes on my computer as well and that have automatically downloaded to my iOS devices.

QT movie exports taking up double the disk space?

I've been using FCP 5.1.4 to edit a feature film. When I've exported QuickTime movies (Final Cut Pro) movies, I send them to a designated hard drive (Bay 2 of my MacPro). But during the last two exports, I've noticed that when I export to my scratch drive, roughly the same amount of data is suddenly used up on my main start-up drive (in Bay 1).
So, for instance, if I have a 20 GB movie to export to my designated scratch drive, I will suddenly "lose" about the same amount on my main hard disk, even though no movies or FCP settings are saved to that drive. It's quite frustrating, because I'm losing serious disk space with each export, and I can't seem to find the "phantom" movie files on my main hard disk. Simply put, I have no idea what's going on.
If anyone has experienced this (or can refer to to the proper forum, as it might be a MacPro or OSX question), I would appreciate it immensely.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I hadn't thought of the render files possibility... but all of my saved info is going to my designated drive, NOT my main system drive. At least, that's how I set it up. Is it possible that I made an error and accidentally re-routed the file path to my main drive? Possible, but I consider myself to be pretty thorough on such matters...
As for the project info: it's a feature film, and the reason I'm rendering is because I have to create use one of FCP's filters to create a running timecode through out the project (for composers, sound team, etc.). I basically create a QT movie of the sequence, then reimport that movie into FCP, and then apply the timecode filter, and then output a NEW movie with the timecode filter rendered into place.
I'll search around for any errant render folders/files on my main HD. If you (or anyone else) happens to consider some other possibility, by all means, give me a shout out.

How do I delete a video from my iPhone if it only shows in desktop iMovie?

As subject, really - somehow I've got a 3m37s video on my iPhone 4S which will ONLY show up in iMovie on the Mac when I go to import other clips. I cannot see it in Camera Roll on the phone, or in iMovie on the phone, or in any of the other photo / video apps. The ONLY WAY I can see this movie is through Mac iMovie - which only has the option to import clips, not delete them.
How am I supposed to get rid of this video? I've already tried resetting my Photo Stream and it seems it didn't work. iTunes shows 1.1gb of "Other" when my iPhone is plugged in, and I have a feeling it's this video since it doesn't seem to know it's there, other than - well, you get the idea.
Any help appreciated.

Ipad mini storage issues!!!

I use an ipad mini, it has 16gb of storage. I have not used even 1 gb of it yet, and yet it is telling me i have used 10gb and only have 2gb left???
I don't know why it is doing this. I don't download movies, i buy them, leave them in the icloud, then when i want to watch them i stream them from straight from my icloud, but everytime i do so my storage shrinks and won't reset or go back up. Please help!! The nearest Apple store is an 1.5 hour's train ride from here and that's gonna cost me nearly £40

I had a similar issue with a phantom movie taking up space. In my case, the solution was a "Restore."
Note that it could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

Create table with overlapping parallel dates in individual columns

I am trying to combine data from two different tables into a single table.
The data in table 1 contains unit locations of patients within a hospital where each record represents one location. Patients can be transferred many times between different beds resulting in many records for a single visit.
The data in table 2 contains operating room activity of the patient in the hospital where each record represents either the OR of the recovery room stay. A patient may have multiple operations in one visit.
I would like to join/merge/mashup the data into a single table that has the data parallel to each other. That is, the dates for the unit activity on one side of the table and the OR activity on the other. The difficulty is that the two sets of in/out dates overlap. I would like the final table to split the original records into new records when the overlaps do not coincide.
Example:
Original Events in two records (one per table)
> Unit Event A - from 2pm to 6pm
> OR Event B - from 4pm to 5pm
Results in 3 records (in final table)
> Event 1 - Unit from 2pm to 4pm, OR dates null
> Event 2 - Unit from 4pm to 5pm, OR from 4pm to 5pm
> Event 3 - Unit from 5pm to 6pm, OR dates null
Of course the overlapping may be more complex that the above example, and adding in and out code to indicate "phantom" transfers will be needed as well.
In the code below, the first OR visit occurs during the first unit record.

I edited one of the dates in the original post.
Both the inpatient unit and OR events are contiguous for a given patient (no overlaps and no gaps -- after data is cleaned) .
I have no problem with a view instead of a table, and would probably prefer a view.
There are about 3 million records in the inpatient unit table and 0.5 million in the OR table.
Below is how I would like the final table (assuming I correctly split the records). I've used X's to represent the phantom movements. It seems that one should never have a phantom X in both the UNIT_IN_CODE and the UNIT_OUT_CODE (same for out codes).
FYI, The B's mean transfer within a unit (change room/ed), the T's transfer between units, O's enter OR, R's enter recovery room.
Also, the may be a future need to add an additional set of parallel dates (attending physician service)!

Can you drag it off holding down the CMD key?
Do a search for it with EasyFind (try different settings in "Operator")

I am trying to apply a lens filter in CS6 to a mp4 movie from the phantom 2 . I do the normal steps of lens filter and choose dji, phantom2 , and I click ok and the picture improves and there is less curve etc. What I don't know is why it seems to revert

I do the normal steps of lens filter and choose dji, phantom2+, and I click ok and the picture improves and there is less curve etc. What I don't know is why it seems to revert back to the old movie when I come back later on. I know I saved it but I must be doing something wrong. Here are my steps:
Open an Mp4 movie
Choose filter, lens correction
Choose dii
choose Phantom FC200
click ok and the image improves.
I then save as a name.psd and close the file.
I reopen the file and it looks good. When I play the movie it just jumps back to the old curved horizon.
What am I doing wrong? If you can help me I would be very grateful.

Phantom hairline showing up in shape, transfers to After Effects, doesn't move on art board

Hi,
First time posting here so hope I'm following protocol. We're having an issue at my office with Illustrator (5.1) and After Effects. This just started happening this week.
For some reason, when a file is created in Illustrator and you zoom in extremely clost on a shape, a thinner-than-hairline line appears on it. This has showed up as both a vertical and horizontal. When you zoom in or out, the line disappears, but it also appears in After Effects. It doesn't seem to be part of the shape or a fragmented shape because if you move the shape, the line stay stationary.
Anyone seen anything like this? The video editor and I have NO idea and we've been trying to figure it out for a few days now. Also, the issue isn't in just one file; it has happened in two separate project files now.

This is an issue with current PDF libraries used by Adobe apps. For some reason content gets tiled, even if it doesn't actually require flattening. Same issue occurs when rasterizing the files in PS. Anyway, with regards to AE the sane advise would be to safe back to CS3 no matter what, because there are bugs in its handling of newer AI formats... This potentially also avoids your issue...

Phantom Files in iTunes Movie Sync Page

Hi
I seem to have a few movies shown available to sync up to both my iPad and iPhone in the sync movies page in iTunes, however I can't locate them anywhere on my Macbook. They are really old files that I once had synced to a previous iPhone and they seem to be stuck in iTunes. I have tried to look for the files using Spotlight with no luck and when I tried to sync one to my iPhone a message box came up saying the file couldn't be found but the file still remains.
Does anyone know how to clean up iTunes and get rid of these dummy files?

I've managed to sort this out. I didn't have "Movies" selected in iTunes preferences. Once I checked the box, the said movie files appeared in iTunes under "Movies" with the exclamation mark next to them. I was able to highlight them all and delete.

How do I transfer a movie file from my iPad to my MacBook Pro?

I recently accidentally deleted all media files that existed in the iTunes Media folder on my MacBook Pro. I have managed to recover almost every file, the only one I have yet to recover is a movie that was redeemed through iTunes after I purchased it as part of a DVD/Blue-Ray/Digital Copy combo pack. It is no where to be found on my hardrive yet the 'phantom' file still extsts within my iTunes library. After checking all of our family's Apple devices (2 iPhones, 5 iPads, 1 older MacBook, & 1 MacBook Pro) I was delighted to discover the movie still exists on my stepson's iPad Mini! Only now I cannot seem to find a way to 'transfer' this movie file back onto my MacBook Pro. I am refusing to sync or update his iPad Mini in fear that I might loose the only copy of the movie I have left! Can someone please help me transfer this file back to my MacBook Pro? Thanks so much!

This talks about iTunes 10, but it should work the same way in iTunes 11. Transferring purchases for an iDevice to your Mac.

It should be File>Devices>Transfer Purchases, I think
You must be using the same Apple ID in iTunes on your Mac that your son is using on the Mini or the movie will not transfer.

As to why it is not functioning when loaded - probably

I've been transferring stuff from PAL composite video via a Canopus ADVC300: http://desktop.grassvalley.com/products/ADVC300/index.php It creates huge AVI files which I then convert to a size I want to work with.
I've been working on something that was edited 20 years ago on a VHS suite (no seriously!) and had no probs until creating a QT movie that I want to transcode on to DVD. At this stage I've started seeing 'ghost' fields of material from the frame before and after (actually it might be only the frame before, but I'm not sure) which I've not seen before.
What has happened?
My workfow is way too complex to describe here, but what should I do in the future to assure it doesn't happen again?
And what tweaks in the Premiere render settings should I try out that might fix this now?
I'm currently rendering to NTSC D1/DV (well, something like that).

What conversion method and what file format/CODEC are you converting to?
I has seen "phantom" Frames and even small Clips, when MPEG-2's were edited. I would guess that it has to do with the GOP structure. In these cases, the users had little "snippets" from much earlier, that just appeared much later.
I strongly recommend editing the Edius/Canopus DV-AVI Type II's, as you will have fewer issues. Yes, they are large, but worth the HDD real estate.
