PHD - 10.5.2 - New sync fail- possible fix

Upgraded clients and server from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2, and clients stopped syncing.
checked logs on client, and noticed that sync starts ssh to server
checked server log and showed that client can't ssh because login shell set to /dev/null.
Changed clients in WGM to have /bin/bash.
sync now working.
Apple, What did you do?

This may not have been a change on apples part, although it certainly feels like they changed sync from afp to ssh, and for users to use ssh they need to have shell.

  • 2.2.1.23 Sync Issue 'Possible' Fix

Sorry if this is already out there - there are so many posts, I wasn't sure.
Like so many of you I have had sync issues with the latest update - 2.2.1.23
I got the following reply from Nokia Customer Services when I sent them a **bleep** email and having followed this, my N95 now syncs automatically again on 2.2.1.23
I think the secret is in 5,6 & 7 as I had tried everything else.  If, like me, you are running Vista, for 5 & 6 look for and delete any Nokia folder in C:\Users\<my user>\AppData
    1. Disconnect phone from PC
    2. Go to Control Panel-> Add and remove programs.
    3. Uninstall ALL Nokia software. The Ovi, driver, software updater etc etc.
    4. Restart windows
    5. Once restart is complete, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Application Data.  Delete all Nokia folders
    6. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<my user>\Local Settings\Application Data and delete all Nokia folders
    7. Go to C:\Program Files\ and delete all Nokia folders
    8. Download latest Nokia Ovi suite from the web (Nokia_Ovi_Suite_webinstaller.exe)
    9. Install latest Nokia Ovi and try to resync again.
    Good luck one and all

Sorry folks - bad news - it has failed again and now it is worse than ever.
I will update if I get a fix.

  • Possible to force new sync?

A look at my router stats shows this:
    5. VDSL uptime: 2 days, 21:48:26
    6. Data rate: 18542 / 60493
    7. Maximum data rate: 21383 / 69520
    8. Noise margin: 7.6 / 9.1
    9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 14.4
    10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 14.6
I've noticed my maximum data rate is higher than my actual data rate, is there a way to get my data rate to match the new sync rate?
Also, just 10 minutes ago I clicked the disconnect button in the HH5 and clicked connect 30 seconds later, seeing if it would force a resync but nothing happened.
And if you take a look at my VDSL uptime, it says 2 days 21 hours although I just did a disconnect/reconnect PPP connection right now. Isn't this what VDSL uptime is? (although when DLM forces a new sync it always gets reset to 0 )
So question is, is there a way I can get the modem to use these higher new maximum data rates and how do I go about doing it? My current IP profile is 58.56 Mbps and download speed 56.9 Mbps
    Appreciate all your help.

Wow that worked! Haha. Thanks Deathtrap!! I know it's such a simple solution but you earned your star anyway haha. New stats:
    5. VDSL uptime: 0 days, 00:07:04
    6. Data rate: 18998 / 68565
    7. Maximum data rate: 21076 / 68523
    8. Noise margin: 7.3 / 6.5
    9. Line attenuation: 0.0 / 14.4
    10. Signal attenuation: 0.0 / 14.5
Max data rate did go down from 69520 to 68523 though, but not a big deal. Hopefully sync rate will keep increasing over the weeks
Speed test is now 64.3 Mbps and IP Profile 66.37 Mbps. I'm getting amazing upload speeds http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3268299412

  • New iPad Mini sync Failed to Start in iTunes

I got a iPad Mini for Christmas and I set it all up that day. I connected it to my Macbook Pro days later and it is telling me the sync failed to start. Both devices are updated to the most recent software. My iPhone can connect to iTunes just fine. Why won't my iPad? I tried unplugging it and replugging it back in and turning it off and on. I tried restarting. I have looked on many questions and nothing seems to help. Thank you!

I restarted my ipad and it fixed it.. I am not sure what I did.

  • FIREFOX 35.0 'NEW' SYNC: I'm already signed-in to Sync but when I click on FF Sync/"Manage" in 'Options' I receive a message that my password is incorrect. Why?

    Hi Mozilla support,
My query is twofold but interrelated ... and sorry for the protracted dialogue, in advance :)
    (1) Regarding my Sync "Password" + (2) Strange issue in Options/'Sync'/"Manage
Set out below is my 'issue'.
Perhaps you can clarify what is going on here for me and help me to stop this strange occurrence.
I've used firefox since 3.5 and love it.
I now have Firefox 35 on Windows 8 (64-bit) with the 'new' Sync successfully set-up on a newish HP Desktop computer (Envy 23).
While my 'issue' doesn't cause a huge problem, it IS a source of unnecessary frustration & confusion.
If possible I'd like to eliminate that unnecessary stress and enjoy using FF again.
Additionally, I thought this peculiar 'issue' may be an indication of something else amiss in my FF Sync or my FF settings.
    Here is the scenario:-
At the moment, I'm signed in to Firefox "Sync" and it IS definitely syncing successfully - the 'circular arrows' spin around & tell me when it was last synced, so I know that's okay.
However, after the last update (to 35.0), I had to "reconnect" sync because it has "disconnected" .
I had terrible trouble signing back in, even though I was using the exact same password I had been using prior to the update.
After several failed attempts to sign in and FF repeatedly telling me I was using the 'incorrect' password, I closed the browser down & restarting FF 35.
FF had somehow 'signed me in' automatically - with the same password I thought was correct or not, I don't know.
Anyway, after all the trouble signing-in I not only felt dubious that all the data WAS syncing, I wanted to take a closer look.
But also I needed to check which password was being used for Sync, when FF signed me in (after the update & restart).
To double-check sync was working properly, I went into - "Options"/Firefox Sync/"Manage" - and was told that I needed to (quote): "Sign in, Continue to Firefox Sync".
I thought it was strange as only a couple of minutes before that, FF had already signed me in & sync seemed to be working. (the circular arrows were spinning)
Not knowing what was going on, I did as suggested by FF and entered my User-name & Password (for a second time).
I was then informed my password was 'incorrect' (please see uploaded/attached image).
I found this odd, considering this 'message' came up even though FF itself had signed me in to Sync after the update to 35 & restart of the browser.
What is confusing to me is the mixed-messages I'm receiving from FF.
FF must have signed me in to Sync using the very same Password that I've used since the 'new' sync was set-up & had been using for some time, but was now informing me in - 'Options/Sync/"Manage" - that the password was incorrect.
Although I am, at this moment, signed in to sync & it is working, I'm utterly confused as to what is or isn't the correct Password.
*If it can be avoided, I don't want to change it because I've saved it in so many places in PC, for future reference.*
Can I 're-save' the same password for Sync again, so that I can be sure that it's correct?
Also, for me, this strange behaviour by FF sync is an unnecessary source of angst and would love you to tell me what is going on or how to fix it please?

    # Yes, if you go to accounts.firefox.org, sign out, you will now be signed out.
    # Sign back in, and you will be asked to save the password you entered.
    # This will save the password and autocomplete if you have this option turned on.
I am not exactly sure why the menu did not detect the password change or if it was stored incorrectly after you changed it? But after storing the correct password you can manage any duplicate passwords in the password manager.[[Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox]]

  • Sync failed to start w/ iTunes 10.7, iPod Touch 3rd gen

Since upgrading to iTunes 10.7 on Windows 7x64, I have had trouble getting my iPod Touch (3rd gen, 5.1.1) to sync. I am getting the message "sync failed to start". This happens with either WiFi or USB connection to the device. I know the iPod WiFi is working because the Remote app shows my iTunes library, fetches email, etc.
After installing iTunes 10.7, when I connected via USB, Windows tried to search for and install new drivers. After a very long delay, I canceled the search and continued using the existing drivers. I'm not sure if this is related.

I have resolved the problem by 'shutting down' my MacBook ('restarting' the computer was not sufficient to resolve it). While I was at it, I took the battery out briefly before rebooting – don't know if this made the difference, but I do know that Apple Tech Support have instructed me to remove the battery momentarily on previous occasions when resolving other issues with the computer. Anyway, either just shutting down (or shutting down + removing the battery) seems to have resolved the problem, as iTunes is once again recognising my iPod Touch and I'm able to sync again. Phew!

  • Whenever I connect iPhone 3GS to sync with Mac sync fails to open

Whenever I connect iPhone 3GS to sync with Mac sync fails to open. Brand new are there any upates I am unaware of?

"sync" fails to open?  Do you mean, iTunes?
If you manually open iTunes, does your iPhone show up in the left column?
    If so...
Click on your iPhone in the left column of iTunes.
Click on the "Summary" tab in the right colum of iTunes.
    Scroll down to "Options"
Select "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected"
    Apply
My apologies if I misunderstood the question.

  • IPod sync failed. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again.

Over the past month or two, I have gotten this message quite frequently with my iPod. It usually happens after I sync my iPod once, leave it hooked up to my iMac for charging, and then try to sync again (sometimes not even more than a few minutes later). I also often have trouble getting my computer to recognize the iPod (or getting my iPod to recognize that it's supposed to start syncing) without having to disconnect and reconnect it and shake the USB cord around a few times.
I had a little bit of this problem with my iPod 5G and XP PC, though no "iPod sync failed" messages ever. This is a new iPod classic and an iMac. What's going on?
Does anyone else have this happen to them?

I'd been having this same issue and kept trying all the suggestions on the forums to no avail. Then I just disabled "Enable Disk Use", which required me to first disable "Manually manage music & videos". I unchecked all of my music, videos, podcasts and photos, applied the settings, then chose which media I wanted in my iPod. I synced successfully and even cleared it out completely a couple of times to re-sync. No issues anymore.

  • I'm trying to update to the new sync, but cannot find "unlink device" in Options/Sync.

I am trying to sync two PCs. I have successfully used FF Sync on two previous computers. I am now using 2 other computers, with FF 36.0.4 on both. I believe I have not used Sync on one of these computers before, but I think I've used it on the other one. (I'm talking about the "new" Sync.) However, it's possible that I haven't used Sync on either of these computers in the past--that is, I have an existing Sync account but it is not associated with either of the computers I'm trying to sync.
I've tried to follow the instructions, but they don't help me at all. When I click on the menu button, I do not see "Sign into Sync" as the Mozilla help page illustrates; instead, I see my email address. When I click on Options > Sync, I do not see "unlink this device" anywhere (see screenshot). This is true of both computers.
I don't know what to do.

hi, your screenshot shows that your firefox is already linked to a new sync account - no action is needed in this regard...

  • BB Link - Sync not possible - Support needed

BB Link advised me to upgrade to the new designed BB Link Version 1.2.3.23
As immediate effect, the sync of the calender does not work anymore with the remark "Sync failed - calender data could not be processed"
    Two questions
    1) how can I solve this
    2) how can I download the previous BB Link version (which worked well even though it took sometimes 30mins to update the calender and contacts)

There are many reasons this can happen, you may find a answer in this post.

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version.  You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes.  Or you can adapt to the new look.

  • Update Sync Fails with 0x80131500

    Hello,
I've looked through the forum for an answer to this recent problem. I went to sync updates for the new out-of-band IE patch and discovered the last time my catalog updated successfully was 4/26. We did have patches install on production servers the next
day including a service pack for SQL server 2012.
This software update point has worked for months, has no proxy, no change of the WSUS location, nor did adding credentials to connect to WSUS (on the same server) help any. I also looked on both the SQL server and the SCCM server for update
KB2840628 which had been mentioned in some posts.
Due to the proximity of the breakage to the updates I would assume either an update or the reboot of the servers caused the issue. We've rebooted both SQL and SCCM since to no avail.
WSUS on the same server shows synchronizations as "success" so the underlying structure seems to be working fine.
I have not deleted the Software Update Point and re-added since I wasn't certain exactly what that does.
The logs show the following errors. I've looked for answers based on these but haven't found anythign that works or fits my situation (WSUS hasn't moved, etc):
Error: The Microsoft Software License Terms have not been completely downloaded and cannot be accepted.
Sync failed: Failed to sync some of the updates. Source: Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatesManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncUpdates  $$<SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER>
Too many consecutive failures. Aborting sync.  $$<SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER>
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Even I had similar issue however it got resolved by itself, so it could be something to do with external to CM12 as Umair mentioned.
