PHD Sync interval of Automatic

Hi,
Today I was playing around with setting up PHDs. I am running a MacMini Server with 10.6.3 and the clients are also MacOS 10.6.3.
In WGM the most frequent background sync interval is 5 minutes but I noticed if I access the sync options on the client machines, there is an option called "Automatic" that is not available in WGM.
I couldn't find any documentation on this. Does anyone know if it does indeed work as the name implies? That is, automatically sync after a file is modified.
Thanks,
Andy

Hello,
BIS is no longer in play, so it's capabilities are now moot. As you recall, for non-PUSH email systems, BIS would poll the server every 15 minutes, and shorten that interval whenever there was something found on the server, slowly lengthening the interval back out to 15 minutes for as long as nothing was found on the server.
With the BB10, it's all ActiveSync directly between the device and the email service provider. If the service provider supports PUSH, you can configure the BB to use it, and it indeed works. If the service provider does not support PUSH, then you are limited to 15 minutes as the shortest interval available.
Typically, it's a matter of properly configuring no the device. For PUSH-capable email services, it often means bypassing the wizard configuration on the device and instead using the Advanced settings.
Lastly...as to your actual question..."why"...well, the only answer is because that's they way the programmed it. As to why they chose to program it that way, an answer would require access to proprietary "internal" decision making information...not very likely.
Good luck!

  • PHD syncing and OmniGraffle package files

I am having an issue where package files synced to the home directory are appearing empty at a later date.
This issue seems to be directly related to OmniGraffle documents, affecting anything that is a .graffle (OmniGraffle Document) or .gstencil (OmniGraffle Stencil) that are stored as packages. We are using OmniGraffle 5.2.1. I have the ability to save the documents as a flat file type, I am unsure of the stencils.
Our enviornment - clients are running on MacBook Pro's with OS 10.5.8. Servers are Mac OS Server 10.5.8. Home directories are stored in an xSAN enviornment (2.2). Users belong to a group (portable homes) in OD that manages the Mobility Preferences and PHD syncing.
I performed a test where I logged the user in, added a .graffle doc to their desktop, logged them out, restarted and logged back in. Upon login, the "outer shell" of the package was still there, but had no contents.
Below I have a few excerpts from the FileSyncAgent-verbose.log from the users system. The file I was monitoring was named "NetworkDiagramMaster-2010_vB.graffle"

This time, when checking the file on the desktop of the users system, the file was there, but there were no contents in the package.
The user has since logged out and left for the day, but I checked the server and for now, the file seems to be OK. It appears that when the person syncs later, the "blank" file is pushed from their system back up to the server. Then both files are blank.
I am not sure, but the phrase "Found 'empty' package job. Ignoring." appears a few times in the log. I think this may have something to do with the issue, but I am not sure how to fix it. I have many users and it is beginning to worry me that there may be other files which are not getting copied properly.
Has anyone out there run across this or have any ideas for a fix?

You need to ask the Dropbox people about that, but I'm pretty sure that it's like having an external drive and it can't sync that precisely. It will act just like dragging and dropping a file on an external drive and back up the whole thing each time.
For that kind of syncing you need an iDisk from Apple's MobileMe service. Certain note programs, like Yojimbo, are made with idisk syncing built in, but I don't think Devonthink supports that.

How can I STOP iTunes from automatically trying to add podcasts to my iPod when I plug it in and sync it, so I can manage the files? I have already unchecked "Sync Podcasts" and "Automatically include,"yet EVERY time I sync it,it still transfers podcasts as the last step, and at other times randomly, when trying to just add some MP3's to a playlist, for example.  I can't seem to find any other option to uncheck, and can't find an answer from my so-far internet searching.

erict, you blew me away with that suggestion! It was something so simple I couldnt believe I hadnt thought of it! But in the end it didn't work, which I was really surprised about. On Windows anytime anything was moved itunes was hoplessly lost, but on this mac it still kept up with everything. I tried renaming folders, moving folders, and even renaming moved folders but it still kept trying to import.
I even went as far as deleting EVERYTHING i had moved to the Mac, which didnt really work. It still kept trying to import what wasnt there which made it continue to freeze up. However, after doing this it, the freezing was not nearly as bad. It gave me enough of a break to cancel it through the itunes dialog box at the top of the app. So in the end, thats all I really needed to do, only before I had deleted everything the freezing would not allow me to do it.
So now Im reimporting everything again, only slowly, and only a few Artists at a time.

  • What is the default sync interval for firefox 29?

Only like to know the sync interval for firefox 29 in android.
    Thanks.

hello danielgomes, sync doesn't always happen on fixed intervals, but it depends in part on user actions and certain situations: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Features/Instant_Sync
''edit: it appears that the normal interval with multiple devices connected to an account is 5 minutes & with only one device that changes to daily: http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-release/source/mobile/android/base/sync/syncadapter/SyncAdapter.java#62''

  • How Do I Stop iTunes syncing my iPhone automatically?

I have owned an iPhone 5 for a little shy of two years now.  I love it but it has one irritating feature that I can't seem to get rid of.  When I had an iPod years ago one of the things I liked about it was the simple drag and drop method of loading songs onto the phone but that's never been possible with this iPhone.  Whenever I plug it into the computer it starts removing songs I want on it and adding songs I don't want.  I have been through iTunes' settings and as far as I can see I've set syncing to be manual and still it does this.  Increasingly I find myself avoiding adding new content to my phone because of how awkward the process is.
    To be clear, I want:
    1) When I plug the iPhone into the computer I want NOTHING to happen unless I tell iTunes to do it.  No music to be synced, backed up, deleted or anything.  I simply want iTunes to detect the phone and be ready for my instructions about what should be added or deleted.
    2) To be able to drag and drop the music I want from my library to the iPhone.
    I am using:
    iPhone 5 with ios 8.2
    iTunes 12.1.1
    I have already:
Used "Device Preferences" to select "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPhones from syncing automatically"

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you mean.  My iphone is connected to my home wifi, it doesn't change whats on the phone unless I plug it directly into my laptop though.
I've just had a look at the setting you mentioned and its not currently set up to do the wifi syncing.  It says "to enable wifi syncing with itunes connect to itunes using a cable and click sync with this iphone over wifi"  Obviously since I want things much less automatic rather than more I won't be switching that feature on.

  • How to sync two tracks automatically?

How to automatically sync bpm of a track with another track?
    Thank you.

I believe it is a limitation of the Sun MQ product that only 1 broker can be instanciated per machine.
    There is no workaround, afaik.
I believe that this limitation is documented in the installation notes of ISW.

  • Ipod Touch no longer syncing/backing up automatically

I recently had to get my laptop "cleaned" due to a nasty virus, I had to reinstall Itunes but when I plug in my ipod nothing happens, itunes no longer syncs or backs up automatically, although it does recognise my ipod and everything is just the same as it was. I have to manually sync and back up. I have checked the settings and the box preventing automatic back up is not ticked.

    I would try:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • PHD Sync Errors (Sync Fails)

We are having a problem with PHD Mobile home directory synchronizing. 200 users on iBooks & MB's all 10.4 or greater. About 20 have constant errors when manually starting the sync, or when loging in or out. Sometimes the sync starts and then poof its gone without actually copying the data to the server. Other times the error window locks up with hundreds or thousands of errors. Locks up the entire computer. Nothing to Force Quit. Have to hold the power button. Have tried deleting the ~/Library/mirroragent..did not help, also deleting the com.apple.mirror.plist did not help. We have deleted all files from the server and then tried to sync to recreate the network folder. Sonetimes this works...for a while. Then the errors come up again.
Welcome any sugestions. I don't see many postings for this type of problem, so we must be doing something wrong?
    TAI

Those 2 items were useful, but did not have any effec on the problem. I really thought it would help, but not in this instance. Here is the latest log. As the sync runs until it gets to ~Library and crashes.
    The log states nothing.
Another item is every log in & log out sync asks where the most current doc's are, local or network. And then crashes.
    Still looking for help

  • Does syncing to iTunes automatically update the iPad 2?  Or is there another procedure to updating the iPad 2?

    Hi,
I very recently bought an iPad 2 for my wife.  She tried to do some online shopping and couldn't get past the checkout screen.  Poor girl tried all day and was so frustrated when I came home.  I told her to use my PC laptop and she was done in minutes.  I went to the local Apple Store and their advice was to disconnect and reconnect the iPad WIFI connection.  And to update the iPad.  I sync'd to iTunes and couldn't figure out how to search for updates.  Does syncing automatically do the updating?
    Thanks

No - to update the operating system (iOS) on the iPad connect it your computer's iTunes, and in iTunes select the Device on the left-hand side, and on the summary tab click 'Check for Updates'. The current version is 4.3.3 - you can tell which version your iPad has by looking at the Version field in Settings > General > About on the iPad (the bit in brackets is just the build number of the iOS release); the iPad's current iOS version is also shown on the summary tab mentioned above. If you do not currently have the most up-to-date version then the download is just under 600 meg, and therefore may take a while to download.

  • Subject: Number Range interval deleted automatically

    Hi
At the time of Accounting Document Posting system is giving error message for maintaining number ranges interval for the corresponding Number Ranges (For example: 50, 51, 49, 19) for the fiscal year 2010. But Number range interval has already been maintained in the Tcode FBN1 for the fiscal year 2010.
After maintaining Number range interval again for the corresponding number range in Tcode FBN1, when we are trying to post accounting document system is again giving one error message that document number (5000000000) is already been used. When we are looking into Tcode FBN1 the current number status is 0.
So to resolve this problem  we have to provide the Number range status into FBN1 manually (suppose if 10 doc are already existing in the system for number range 50 then we have enter the number range 5000000010 manually in FBN1).
After Number range status setting in FBN1 System is allowing to post the Accounting Document.
Along with this one more issue is appearing related to MM posting period.
The current posting period in the system is 08/2010 and the initial period in the system is 08/2007. System is automatically going back to the initial posting period 08/2007. After opening the Posting Period with Tcode MMPV we can post the document only.
    Both Issues are appearing repeatedly.
    Plese help
    Thanks..
    BRSR

Dear If you have already maintained number range for particular period then again for same period and series system should not allow to maintain but as you said above it is allowed so i feel it was not done correctly first time and the given series number could have already been used so when changed the current number in status it's working fine.
For  MM posting period issue please check transactions MMRV,OMSY,OMWD with your MM consultant
    Cheers

  • Firefox sync doesn't automatically sync on exit.

This was a great feature of xmarks, and while I understand the two are not the same, it would be excellent if it could be set to sync automatically on exit if that's what I want.

Yes! Make an option to sync on exit. It's frustrating not to see a page you've just bookmarked before exiting Firefox on another computer.

I had been using it fine for ages, then it stopped syncing, I deleted the account on the mac book and logged in, it then created and ran a full sync (123GB), then after the full sync it refuses to sync again, and in the system bar it states that it has never synced.
I am assuming I have a stale sync file on the server, Does anyone Know exactly which files to delete on the server and the macbook to kick the sync back to life???
Deleting the account on the server is not an option, I have shared address books, 25 calendars and loads of email accounts and data, together with a mail account on the server too. I do not want to have to delete this account.
I am sure it's a case of removing some plist files or something but I can't find out which ones??
    THanks in Advance

    Try backing up and deleting:
    ~/.FileSync
    ~/Library/FileSync

I've started using PHD successfully yesterday and today it stopped working. The tool bar control says that the "Home Never Synced"
Any suggestion on how to get it to start the sync process again?

I am having the same problem. I tried deleting ~/.FileSync and ~/Library/FileSync and all the temp file on both the client and the server but am still not able to sync. I would love not to start from a fresh profile if there is a solution.
