Phenom II x2 545 on K9N6PGM2-V,success!

Got a great deal on this Callisto cpu,it's not on the supported cpu list for this motherboard,so took a chance and upgraded my Athlon 64 x2 5200 Brisbane.I have bios version 9.5 (7309v95).Been running smoothly for the last week,no hiccups or glitches.Thought I'd post this in case anyone else is looking to upgrade their cpu on this board.

 Thanks for the info.

  • [SOLVED]Who controls LCD blanking?

    Hi
I have ASUS k50ij, XFCE is installed as Desktop environment. After 10 minutes of inactivity i got a blank screen. I have disabled XFCE power manager, i have stoped acpid and laptop-mode-tools daemon, but i still get a blank screen after 10 minutes of inactivity. Who controls that actions? How can i change it?
    Thanks

  • Broken Xorg after update

After I did system update (pacman -Suy on Sunday 22th from ftp://lysator.liu.se - official repository) the Xorg didn't started I just got the screen:
    /etc/profile: line1: n#: command not found
/etc/profile: line1: thennfor: command not found
/etc/profile: line1: dontest: command not found
/etc/profile: line1: thenn: command not found

gdm-binary[1181]: WARNING: GdmLocalDisplayFactory:maximum number of X display failures reached: check X sever log for errors
Before update I deleted the "/etc/profile.d/locale.sh" due to manual at archlinux.org.

I tried to generate and use new xorg.conf with "Xorg configure" but it didn't help. I tried the copy back the deleted locale.sh file, but it didn;t help either. When I deleted the corg.conf, the starting process was successfull in way I got to gdm login window, but I was unable to login due to infunction keyboard and mouse also. Did somebody also have or had the problem like this? Can somebody help?
    Thanks

For better investigation I add also "messages.log". I do not have the command "xorgcfg" available on my system. As I understood from "x.org.wiki" the xorgcfg command is just the graphic configuration tool with same function as Xorg -configure.

  • MSI 770-C45 - Windows Install stuck on 'system is starting windows'

    Hello,
I am trying to get a machine setup, everything seems to be booting fine and nothing wrong hardware wise.  When I attempt to install Windows XP Pro SP1 or Windows 7 Pro, I don't get to the 'select partition' step.  It gets stuck on 'system is starting windows' each time.
I have flashed the bios to the latest (1.4) and it didn't help it either.  When looking online I just find too many individual problems and answers to this issue.  I am at work now so when I get home I will update with more info as well as try a few more troubleshooting steps.
-MSI 770-C45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
    -AMI Rev 1.4
    -AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor Model HDX545WFGIBOX
    -OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Model OCZ3G10664GK
    -BFG Tech BFGEGTS2501024DE GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3
-Antech (Will update the power supply later when I get home)
-Maxtor 500GB Sata 3.0 (7200 RPM?, again will check when I get home)
    -LG dvd+/-rw drive
-Still attempting to install the OS
    Thanks,
    Steven

Couldn't edit post so just posting again with the real specs:
-MSI 770-C45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
    -AMI Rev 1.4
    -AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor Model HDX545WFGIBOX
    -OCZ Gold Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Model OCZ3G10664GK
    -BFG Tech GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 Model BFGEGTS2501024DE
    -Antec 500 W PSU Model EA-500
-Western Digital 500GB SATA  Model WD5000CSRTL  (Originally attempted the install on a IDE 200GB Seagate but that failed as well)
-DvD drive: Magicspin  Model DVDRW 1016IM
As a note, I am troubleshooting a friends computer that he was setting up.  Further troubleshooting steps by me:
Fredrik, I was unable to find the speed/memory handling option in the BIOs to change it down to UDMA2.
I don't have a spare set of DDR3 Ram to test that out.  Have a spare PSU to test with but haven't done that yet.
Switched out the DVD Drive to a Lite-On IT Corp. Model LH-52C1P DVD burner and it got stuck on 'Setup is loading files (Windows Executive)'
Attempted to switch out the IDE Cable for the DVD Drive and found I couldn't put a new one into the Motherboard.
Seems two pins (one over the other on the far left side) are bent just a little out of place and are loose.  Looks like I might need to exchange the board for a new one by the looks of it.

    Hi,
I hope wiping the drive works for yeah.
As far as the psu is concerned, I agree with what the others are saying.
Looking at your psu specs, you only have 24 amps on the 12V rail.
Your video card requirements call for that but you have no head room.
Total watts is not the only way to pick a psu.
How those watts are deligated to the various voltages it puts out.
Plus you want a psu that offers "clean" consistant power.
When you get your w7 installed we can help you pick a better psu if thats what you want.

Under the details tab, you can see this unit is rated at 46 amps.
Being this is a top of the line psu, it delivers that at clean power.
Researched the heck out of this before I bought it.

wipe the hdd with manufacturer tool, then try again
I just tryed doing a FULL HDD wipe and tryed install win7 agian but it gave me the same result.
I allso borrowed a gfx PowerColor Radeon HD 5450 to test with.
When i tested i also tryed removing everything not needed inside the case. 2 x Case fan`s, 1x2gb memory brick.
But it gave me the same result.

  • Athlon II 265 on K9N6PGM2-V

Hi, I'm using a MSI K9N6PGM2-V and I'm thinking about upgrading the processor pretty soon. At first I was thinking of a AM3 Athlon II 260, since it's pretty much the best of the ones on the list of supported processors for what I'll be using it for. However, the new Athlon II 265 has just been released, It's got the EXACT same specs on everything as the 260, only it's clocked 100MHz higher, and after reading about people using processors (not the 265, but other processors) that aren't on the supported list I was thinking a 265 shouldn't be a problem?      Btw, I'm using the latest BIOS version, 7309v99

Well perfect time to post this,I've inherited from a buddy an Phenom II X4 945 (95watts),he went to intel.I'm using the same motherboard you are with bios ver 9.5.I just popped it in and it works fine. The extra two cores make an amazing difference( I had a Phenom II dual core 545 cpu before).I know it doesn't say it's supported in the list, but if it can support an older  Phenom x4 (95w) and a newer Tri-core PhenomII (95w),I thought I'd take a chance and try it,glad I did!
Alright, great news! I'll be buying a 95W AM3 CPU too then. I just can't thank you enough!

    Muthu,
This issue usually occurs when the AM.class file is not available at the given location. Try to find out on the server whether this
    tflsm.oracle.apps.po.per.server.TflsmAM exists.
If still the problem persists then go for redeployement by deleting the existing one.

  • Palm Z22, Vista, AMD Phenom X4, Asus will not sync

I have a Palm Z22 and a computer with an AMD Phenom X4 CPU, an Asus motherboard, and Vista.
Sync problems range from unrecognized device to no progress when HotSync tries to connect.
I have worked with Palm techs and with Microsoft and tried every trick I have read about including modifying the register.
My hardware vendor has also tried, including going back to XP with no luck on this hardware.
Has anyone had success connecting in this configuration?
    Post relates to: Palm Z22

I do not have bluetooth on either the PC or the Palm, but I have tried a USB to IrDA dongle.  No help, same result.
In my most recent attempt, the USB driver window in the lower right says the Palm driver is loaded.  I also have an entry in the USB window that says an unidentified device has been found.  Sometimes I get the window that says connecting.  Next, the Palm shows that the connection could not be established.
Just tried again to sync with the cable, and the USB window in the lower right reports that the device is not working correctly, replace the device.  As mentioned before, the Palm works perfectly on my old XP based machine and on another Vista computer
The Desktop software from Access has a note that it will not work with multi-CPU machines; however, it also states that this does not apply to multi-core CPUs.
Is it possible that I am the only person using a multi-core CPU ?  Or maybe the AMD quad-core Phenom is seen as multiple CPUs. The speed advantage of this CPU and motherboard are why I selected this configuration.

  • K9N6PGM2-V No Audio

    Hello,
Can someone please help, I have 3 MSI K9N6PGM2-V Boards and the onboard audio doesnt seem to work on any of them... I have struggled for hours with these, the drivers have been installed from the CD, then I have also tried the drivers from the MSI drivers page and its still the same thing.
The systems are running Windows XP Pro, device manager shows an Unknown PCI Device on each of the systems when the HD Audio is activated in Bios, I have tried all the drivers I can find, however nothing is picked up for the sound... I have even tried Realtek HD Audio drivers from their site with no success...
Can someone tell me if there are any other drivers or are all 3 of these boards faulty
Live Update crashes when searching for updates each time... I dont know how to update the BIOS on these...

  • MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 -WinXP Home- Eide HDD -

I purchased this  MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 MB with a Bare Bones kit from Tiger. I assembled everything and put in an old Maxtor Eide 120 Gig HDD from
my wife's previous computer so I could clone it to a Seagate Barracuda 500 Gig that came with the kit.
It would come up to a green error screen with some instructions and hex info if I tried to boot normally.
So I went to Safe Mode and tried to load drivers from the CD and it came up with an error message ... DVD "Failed to Load Hardware Monitor Driver" . I went through various setups
in the Bios and took out the sata DVD drive and installed an Eide DVD at the end of the HD cable all with the same results.
I started thinking it was a video problem so I changed the Bios setup from the default PCI to the Internal setting and went to the display settings in Safe Mode.
There was no info or ID about a video chip set just "unrecognized". I disabled the driver and figured if I rebooted it might recognize the Nvidia chips.
No Dice. But... Now I cant get past the text loading screen for Safe Mode, it just hangs at Drivers\Mup.sys.   if I try to load Windows normally I no longer get the green error screen
but do get a powder blue Windows Copyright screen that's all jumbled and then it hangs also. It sometimes has a splash of orange but mostly just blue.
So... I still think it's a video thing but where do I go from here without being able to get into Safe Mode?
Is there a jumper to disable the internal video on this board or just in the Bios setup.
I have UBCD4Win and that loads in fine off the CD with multiple VGA resolutions but how do I get my XP Home to correctly recognize this MB's video ?
How do I get Safe Mode to fully load again?
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanks
    Tim

  • K9N2 SLI platinum - another problem w/ Phenom II

I decided to upgrade my K9N2 SLI Platinum from Phenom 9850BE to Phenom II 940 3.0GHz.  I switched the CPUs but I didn't update the bios from 3.2 to 3.3.  When I powered up the bios 3.2 system with the Phenom II it posted and booted but then blue screened.  I restarted and went into the bios settings and checked the hardware monitor and it showed the CPU temperature at 80C!  I looked at the voltage and this bios was giving the Phenom II 1.8 volts.  I immediately shut down and felt the CPU sink and it was quite warm after only 60 seconds or so.  That wasn't a stock heatsink either - it was a CNPS9700 with AS5 - a lot of copper to heat up.
It seems that the 3.2 bios, if it didn't recognize the CPU, should not have set the VCORE to the maximum of 1.8 volts and continue to run.
Also, I replaced the Phenom II with a sempron to upgrade the bios and had a problem after successfully flashing 3.3.  I spent the weekend back and forth with MSI support and they sent a beta bios 3.3.3 that did work.  My problem with 3.3 was that the machine would freeze before POST with the Group 2 LED flashing green/red.
I'm waiting for a new CPU and wondering if I should also RMA the motherboard.  How come so many people seem to have flashed 3.3 with no problem but mine didn't work?
    # CPU:  worked: 9850BE with 4 2Gb sticks of CORSAIR DOMINATOR 1066 (worked at 1066 all four)

Thanks for all the information.  As I said, I have the MB working on a spare Sempron and I am waiting for a new 940, but here are some facts I'm still curious about:
    1. With a plain vanilla Sempron 3400+ and a plain vanilla one stick of slow memory my K9N2 SLI Platinum will not boot correctly with bios 3.3, even after resetting cmos, unplugging, etc.   MSI tech had to send me 3.3B3.  Anyone know why that would be.   Is there something wrong or different about my MB compared with everyone else that has 3.3?  What bug in 3.3 is fixed with 3.3B3?
The sempron should boot correctly. (3.3Beta3 is a pre-3.30)
    Quote
    2. I'm sorry but I think that with 3.2 or 3.3 or 3.3B3, before flashing, after flashing, with cmos reset, with cmos not reset, the bios should never put the red maximum 1.8 volts on a CPU it doesn't recognize.  I never set that parameter. It is a bios bug for it to switch up to 1.8 Vcore.  I had the 9850BE at Auto (about 1.1V I think).
You need 3.30 and after reset the cmos.
    Quote
    3. "I doubt it burned the CPU"  Really? The max case temp for 940 is 60C.  Mine got to 80C.  That's not good, even if it does still work.  Fortunately I purchased from NE who will RMA it.
I doubt yours even got 80C as you where using the wrong BIOS...did you measure it with a digital temp-meter?
Did you burn your fingers on the heatsink?
It's not the first time a CPU temp is being read wrong in the BIOS.
    Quote
    4. digit123abc said "i have the same board and 940BE, 3.3 sets the cpu voltage to 1.8volts even after bios reset and loading defaults"  So, when I get the new 940, with 3.3B3 am I really going to have to rush into the bios and change the 1.8Volts to auto before I burn that CPU also?  If so, that's a bad bios bug.
A BIOS default is Vcore at Auto, never seen anything else....not a BIOS-bug but he didn't reset the cmos after flashing.
And again 3.3Beta3 is older then 3.30 that is release version.
Same as with Windows7 Beta....thats prior to Windows7 Release.

I have opened the link, through my phone, and it tries to open a restaurant-piano something something page ( I can't see the entire address) but is redirected to a Microsoft.com page.
The email ends with Your Apple Store Customer Service Team. Also, there is an order number starting with a W2....

What are you planning to do with it?
If you're not overclocking, then the standard cooler that comes with retail boxed CPU will be just fine.
i bought this CPU without retail box, so without cooler ,and i do want to overclock it in the future.

I am afraid that is the full potential according to AMD for this nice CPU. What you intend to do is to unlock cores that were deliberately locked by AMD to ensure that you have the stable use of this nice CPU.
The potential instabilities that may result, far outnumber the probabilities that it will actually be successful. Count yourself very lucky if you do have success, otherwise be happy that you got a working Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition that you paid for.
