Philips tv

I am trying to connect my imac 27" (May 2010) to my philips TV 42PF9831D/10.  I am using a DisplayPort to HDMI connector cable.  What I am finding is that the TV recognises the Mac and shows the picture intermittently, with frequent cut out.  I have tried changing the display settings but with no luck.  Furthermore, I have bootcamp on my Mac and tried the same with Windows XP, the picture result is fine once I have reset my resolution to 1024.  So is seems like there is an MAc O/S issue with philips compatibility?
Any help much appreciated.

Do the following steps:
# Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
# Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1492 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 70
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2307

  • How to connect my Satellite A200 with a Philips LCS TV?

Hi, I have problems to connect my Satellite A200 1E1 with a Philips 32 PF9967D LCD-TV HD ready.
The manuals recommend a HDMI extension that is unfortunately not availble with my Laptop.
However, isn't is possible to use a S-Video connection instead? I could accept a reduced quality. When I connect the Laptop with the TV, I have the impression that the Satellite does not send any signal out. The "FN F5" combination does not show the opportunity to switch between the screens. Once I connected a beamer and had no problems at all with switching between beamer, laptop screen or both.
Any comments would be highly appreciated, thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello
In user manuals is written in almost each chapter about ports or slots a short comment: depending on configuration. That means that this users manuals can be used for different A200 notebook models.
Every notebook delivered with HD-DVD optical disc drive has also an HDMI port. According the notebook specification your notebook has no HD-DVD ODD and because of that there is also no HDMI port.
For TV-out there is sonly one port S-Video. Using this port you can send video signal to your TV. I have LCD TV too and I have used it many times with my A200 notebook. It is very simply but be sure you use the right channel (S-Video) on your TV. Using FN+F5 key combination you can switch to the TV.
If this does not work you are doing something wrong.

  • Using Mac Mini dvi to vga on an Philips plasma

    Hi
I have an Philips plasma tv that dosn´t have an dvi. So I use the vga instead.
But I get the message non supported picture format. Sorry for my bad translation från swedish. The tv is an Philips 42PF9945. Please if any one can help me

If you have a second Mac or a PC at your disposal on the same network as the mini, I suggest you try making a VNC connection between the mini and the second computer. In this manner you can control the mini remotely and make different selections in Display Preferences on the mini from the other computer. Hopefully you will be able to find a resolution that will cause the screen to come to life.

  • New Infinity install and Philips Smart TV

Any ideas on how to resolve my connection issue. I have a Philips smart TV which until I had Infinity and the new HH3 installed on Thurs(7th Feb.) connected without any issues with my previous supplier's BB (Sky).  Tv is connected and finding net ok but cant/wont connect to Smart Tv.  I've enabled Port clamping as advised in other posts but still no joy.  Any other suggestions appreciated.  I pretty sure its not a TV issue as It worked no problems pre Infinity and TV is as up to date as you can get,Software update etc.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have the same problem with a Philips 40pfl8605 and a home hub 3 (but not the infinity package). the tv connects to the router, either wirelessly or via ethernet, but will not load Net TV. I get an error message which says 'Philips server not found. Try again later).
Keith, I'm on my home network now but you're link wouldn't open a few minutes ago. I can't work out how to message you directly on this forum, but if you can send me the content of that link on the thread, i'd be grateful. I'm pretty sure this problem stems from the router as the Net TV has connected in the past, when I've had a netgear router. Philips have been useless and after running through standard checklists such as clearing the Net TV memory, reinstalling software (which is up-to-date) etc, simply advised to send the (3yr-old) tv for repair.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Use a DVI to micro-DVI adapter if you're on an original MacBook Air, and a Mini DisplayPort adapter for a newer one.

  • How do I connect my Apple TV to my Philips surround sound DVD system?

I can't seem to get surround sound when watching Apple TV (or when watching live or recorded TV via my Virgin Tivo). I use a three-years old Philips DVD home surround system to get surround sound when I'm watching Blu-Ray (I have connected my Philips Blu-ray and my Philips DVD player without difficulty). But I can't figure out how to get surround sound whne watching Apple TV. I bought an optical cable with an audio jack on one end, to connect to the DVD player and the optical end clicks into the ATV. Still nothing. Any ideas?

The surround system seems to support digital audio - it has settings for HDMI audio and video (even though it doesn't actually have an HDMI port) I bought the optical/audio cable on the advice of a staff member in the Apple Store, but frankly, she didn't see, to understand my problem. She recommended I insert the cable into the "MP3 cable IN" port but that' not working.
I'm probably not explaining myself very well - bottom line: I have a DVD surround system and an Apple TV, so how do I connect them?

  • How to connect MBP to Philips HD ready TV with DVI-I

I've managed to connect my Macbook Pro (bought Jan 2013) to my Philips HD ready TV (model number 37PF5520D/10) with the following cables:-
    1) Cables 4 ALL Supreme 2M DVI-I Cable / Dual Link 24+5 Pins / Gold Plated / HDTV
    2) Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter cable by Neet® - ( for Unibody MacBook - Pro - Air etc. )
Getting picture no problem - but no sound.
I understand that I need a separate audio cable. I tried a 3.5mm cable from MBP into DVI audio socket on TV - but NO sound.
What cable to I need to be able to get sound along with vision?
    Thanks if you can help,

You need to set the Audio in on the TV. This is from page 16 of your TV's manual:
Audio Selection: to choose the sound

  • How to connect a Philips fidelio to airport extreme?

I just purchased an Airport Extreme Time capsule. I cannot connect my Philips fidelio AD7000W to the network. There are no WPS button on the Airport Extreme. There is a WPS printer connection option in the Aiport app menu option but nothing for sound system. Anyone knows how to make the connection ?

Instructions on how to connect the Fidelio to a non-WPS supported router is covered in the User Guide starting on page 13. On step 4 you would enter the specifics for your wireless network. That would be the network name, the wireless security type & wireless password. You will also want to choose the DHCP mode as enabled for these speakers.

  • Mini-DVI to HDMI output to Philips HDTV not working with Yosemite

I've recently upgraded to the Yosemite OS, and was surprised to find out that the output to my Philips HDTV no longer works. I have a Mini-DVI to HDMI converter, which I then plug into the TV. Before the upgrade everything worked fine (I think I was running 10.7), however now it just says "Video format not supported". I've tried every video format too...nothing seems to work anymore. With my friend's Windows laptop direct output via the HDMI port to the TV works fine, so it's not a hardware issue.
The Philips TV is an 8000 Series HDTV and I've already checked for the latest updates, but it says the software is up-to-date.
Anyone have a similar problem or know of any solutions???
    Thanks in advance!

I would contact Phillips and see if they have a solution.
    Ciao.

  • Mini - DVI/HDMI - Onkyo TX-SR674 - Philips 42" LCD | Problem

OK, I just got my new Mini (1.66 Core Duo) to hook up to my Philips 42" 1080P HDTV LCD. I have the video signal going via a DVI to HDMI cable through my Onkyo TX-SR674 Receiver. The reason for this setup is that the Onkyo receiver controls my video switching and sends the video signal through only one HDMI cable to the TV. That way with one press, I switch audio and video signal at the same time.
Well, the Mini works great with this setup... until... I start up Safari. As soon as Safari starts, I lose the video signal. I can run iTunes, System Utilities and it doesn't cause this problem. The video signal flickered a bit during a repair of permissions, but as soon as Safari brings up the Apple page, I lose the signal.
My video res is setup at 1920x1200, 60 Hz.
Any idea why this is happening. What in the Safari browser would cause the video signal to all of the sudden freak out?
    Thanks!
      Mac OS X (10.4.9)

OK, I had no problems with a direct hookup to my TV and bypass the TX-SR674, but I was not satisfied with that solution!
I found other programs and not just certain webpages in Safari that caused the display to freakout in the old mode, too.
I downloaded and installed switchResX and it had two (2) 1920x1080x60 resolutions listed. When I choose the other 1920x1080x60 resolution, it works fine. Doesn't freak out. Not sure what is different about the second setting, but so far it seems to work OK.
If worse comes to worse, I could always lower the resolution and just have the TX-S674 upscale it to 1080 for me. I may do this eventually anyway since everything on the screen is a bit too small to read from my couch. Not sure on that yet.
But anyways, just thought I'd report back on my results. Thanks!

  • Mac Mini With Philips CRT - 1080i issues

I have a Philips 34PW9818 High Definition CRT TV connected to my new 1.83 Mac Mini. My TV has a DVI input and supports 1080i or 480p. The only one of these options coming up under System Preferences/Display was for 1920 x 1080 (interlaced). When I choose that option the top and left portions of the screen are cut-off and the screen flickers. If I chose 848 x 480, which is the closest I have to 480p, the screen is much clearer, doesn't flicker but portions of all sides are cut-off. I had planned to use this for web browsing, Front Row and to watch DVDs. I assumed that this would work considering my TV has a DVI input and it could handle up to 1080i.
    Can this be fixed?
Is it possible for this TV to work well for web browsing, Front Row and watching DVDs?
Will DisplayConfigX or SwitchResX fix my problems?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
mac mini intel duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I have the same issue with my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo. 480p just isn't enough, but 1080p should be enough. What you need is a scan converter.
    Edit: http://www.provantage.com/startech-vid2dvidtv~7STRV012.htm
seems like an inexpensive solution compared to what I had quoted earlier. Though it requires DVI on your computer end, and Composite on the TV end. Let us know how it works?

  • Mac Mini and Philips 32PF9966 LCD

Hi all, I've posted this on another thread but no one's replied yet,
hope I will get more attention here!
I just got a mac mini C2D and hooked it via DVI to my philips 32pf9966 flat tv HDTV ready. The panel has a DVI socket so I used a DVI cable. The mini automatically resolved to 720x1280 50 hz resolution, the TV would recognize the input as 720p but the characters are bloated and the top, bottom, left and right edges bleed off the screen. If I choose from the mac the 768 x 1024 resolution, the top and bottom edges are fine, the characters are perfectly readable, but I have black borders on the right and left sides. The TV recognizes an XGA input.
From my TV spec, I see that the supported resolutions are:
    Computer
    Res. Refresh rate
    640 x 480 60Hz
    800 x 600 60Hz
    1024 x 768 60Hz
    1280 x 768 60 Hz
    • Video
    Res. Refresh rate
    640 x 480i 1Fh
    640 x 480p 2Fh
    720 x 576i 1Fh
    720 x 576p 2Fh
    1280 x 720p 3Fh
    1920 x 1080i 2Fh
    1920 x 1152i 50 Hz
The 768x1366 is advertized as WXGA on the leaflet cover.
The question is: I have DisplayConfigX but I'm afraid of making some blunders playing around with the settings since there are no clear instructions on the site...I tried using "timing" to set it to 768x1366 but the program automatically switched it to 1368. Is this OK? If not how do I adjust it to 1366? After I click "install", will I be able to use the other configurations I already have in the Mac mini display options or will they be cancelled?
One last question: I'm in Italy, where allegedly the frequency should be 50 not 60Hz...Shall I go with 60 anyway?
Thanks a lot for your patience.
    Andre

    Hi, thanks for you reply.
Tonight I'll try the suggested settings and see if it works...
Re the manual, I don't think I can post any attachments here, anyway here is the link to the technical spec sheet
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/32pf996610/32pf9966_10_psseng.pdf
where you can see that is supports PC connection and res. up to 768x1366
and here is the link to the manual:
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/32pf996610/32pf9966_10_dfueng.pdf
on page 22 there's how to connect to a PC via DVI...
Do you know whether switchresX would support 768x1366?
    Thanks again
    Ciao

  • Mini to a Philips W/S, HD tv with dvi to hdmi

ok, so i finally got the display to gome up regularly, i just bought a 30 in, wide screen philips hd with a hdmi hookup in the back. i got a dvi to hdmi cord with it, and i got the diplay to show up fine in 720x480 rez, but the whole point of the new screen was so i could run imovie hd. i had my mini hooked up to an old monitor that i used the adaptor for. the only other rez higher is 1920x1080, and i think i need 1080x720, or whatever the minimum rez for imovie is. when i run the 1920 rez, everything is on screen (as long as overscan is off, took me a while to figure that out) but very very small and it donsen't seem right. i can at least use it on the new monitor, but i still cant run imovie because i cant read a **** thing. any help would be much appreciated. pleaze? anyone? i hope i can find out before it's too late to return this thing...

  • Mac Mini Doesn't Display through Philips Tube HDTV

I have a Philips tube HDTV with a VGA connector in the back, and used the DVI-VGA connector that came with my new Mac Mini to connect. I don't have a computer monitor at home. The TV doesn't display anything.
So then I took the Mac Mini over to a friend's. He has a VGA monitor, and so he ran the Mac Mini through setup and set it to the lowest possible display settings. I came back here, rebooted and plugged it back in; still no display.
    Then I tried this:
"First thing to try is to boot the mini into safe mode by holding down the shift key as it boots up. This should allow it to boot, and then give you access to the display preference pane to adjust the settings back to those that worked.
If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the TV, and rebooting the Mac with no display attached. Once it has fully booted and enough time has passed to allow the desktop to be displayed, reconnected the TV. This should force the mini to boot into a low-res mode that works with just about anything, then when you reconnect the display, either cause it to auto-sense the correct resolutions, or give you access to display preferences."
This didn't work either. Any suggestions?

    Hi Alan,
Check your TV manual to see what resolutions your VGA/RGB connector on your TV will accept. Being a HDTV it is likely to be from 480p to at least 1080i.
You then set the resolution in your Display preference pane to 640x480 and you should get a picture on your TV. The trick is to set it when you can't see anything! Attaching to another device may not help because the Mac detects that device when you set the Display and will know its not that when attached again to your TV. When attached to your TV it is setting another resolution it thinks will work. It is clearly guessing the wrong screen resolution when you do connect it.
I overcame this situation myself using a VNC client. That requires you to have another computer you can use to control your Mac Mini via VNC. You can then access the Display pane via VNC and set the 640x480 resolution which will work.
For setting 1080i (and the VNC process) please see:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060319073027371&query=1080i%2BMac %2BMini
I am guessing you can also use an S Video adapter - available from Apple - to connect to an S Video port your TV may also have. That won't help with the VGA connection though.
    Hope this helps.
