Phillips 1080 TV

I just got a Phillips 1080 TV and when I hook it up to my MacBook Pro with a DVI>HDMI adapter the highest resolution I get is 1920x1080. With overscan turned off I get black around all the edges. With overscan turned off I get cropped video on the top and bottom and black bars on the left and right. Is there a way to set my TV to a resolution other than the ones in the display preferences?

Check your TV's user guide for information about making a connection to a PC. If there is a way to set the TV to display pixel-for-pixel, it should be referenced in the manual. Either that or it will say to only use the VGA input for making a computer connection, in which case the HDMI port may force overscan and you are out of luck that it will ever work correctly over HDMI.

  • Unable to capture HD 1080 video from HDCAM deck using Decklink HD

I have an original decklink HD capture card with SDI I/O. I have a rented Sony HDCAM F500 deck for the weekend. I can not get FCP to digitize even a frame. All my QT, FCP, OSX and Decklink software is up to date and compatible with one another acording to Decklink's website.
The capture tool shows no video input. I am conecting via SDI from the HD output of the deck to the SDI input on the card, the capture settings are set to the HD format I need to work in, 23.98 PsF. I get the error mesage when I select the setting I want: Unable to locate the capture device Blackmagic HDTV 1080. Your system config may have changed or your deck/camera may be disconnected or turned off.
The system will work in SD using the downconvert output of the deck, but this does me no good on this job. I hope someone has experience with this problem and can help because I am out of ideas!

sorry mate, if I was in the office I would try to help troubleshoot this thing, but here at home its a bit pointless.
other than suggesting you check that you really do have an Declink HD card an not the Declink SD card, or th epossiblity the card may be faulty, the best I can offer is to point you to the Decklink forum at the Cow.
    http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/newviewposts.cgi?forumid=124
have you tried to capture any other HD flavour with this card? how about capturing via the downcoverted SD and using the card to upconvert to HD? (this is not a suggested workflow, just trying to ascertain whether the card is working in HD at all)

  • In my time line, either the 720 clips or the 1080 will play. How do I get them both to work?

I have half my film in 1080 and half in 720. I can set my timeline to be in either or, but not both. When it plays 720, the 1080 is scrambled colored snow and vice-a-versa. I found a way to fix this in the help section but I can not navigate back there. I would love some advice.

The cutaways and titles should be linked above the timeline clips, not below

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

  • HP Envy 4 1080-ex Sound disappear

I have a HP Envy 4 1080-ex Ultrabook, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, it is not under warranty.
Unfortunately the audio does not always work on my HP.
After starting my computer, I hear the check-in sound normally, after 1-2 minutes (sometimes 30-40 min.) all of the sound disappears. When I look at the volume mixer, I can not see the green bar rising and falling so I think there are not generated sound.
I checked everything in Control Panel, there are nothing disabled and there are everything all right (according to Troubleshooter).
But there are one thing what I noticed: Sound/Playback/ my IDT HighDef. Audio speakers properties/ Advanced -> TEST.
When I click at the test button, I can see a Windows message "The device is being used by another application"
I think that my system is up to date, because HP Support Assistant checked all of my drivers and these are up do date..
Today I checked my operation system, it is up do date as well.

    @kissgergoHU ,
Hello and welcome to the HP support forum and thank you for posting.  First thing you would want to do is try a system restore back to when you know the sound was working.  This will remove any updates and software changes that may have happened.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If that fails you can run the system back to the original settings by doing a system recovery.
Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)
I hope this was of help.  Please post back and let me know

  • Mac Mini G4 Unsupported Video Format DVI to HDMI 42 Phillips 1080P LCD TV

When connecting my Mac Mini G4 to my 42" Phillips 1080P LCD TV using a DVI to HDMI cable I get a message on the TV "Unsupported Video Format" message. I can connect my PowerBook G4 using the same cable and it connects great.
One thing I have noticed is when connecting my Mini via DVI cable to my 17" LCD monitor the screen is a fated red. But using a VGA cable the screen is fine. I don't know if this is having to do anything with the issue of connecting to my LCD TV.
    Any suggestions?

Make sure the connections are good and tighten down the thumb screws on all connectors. If two monitors are giving problems with DVI, it could be there is a hardware problem with the DVI port on the mini.
Also, try starting in Safe mode (boot while holding down the shift key) and see if you get a useable screen in that case. If you still get the unsupported video format message, then that would further suggest some hardware problem with DVI.

I'm trying to finalize/share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I'd like to finalize it 1080 hd and have tried several times, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying it can't be done because "File already open with with write permission."  What does this mean?  All files are closed; this iMovie project is the only thing open.  Does it mean one of the song files from iTunes? And should I just settle for saving it as a "large" file, which is what I'm trying right now?
    Thanks,

Hi all newbie here can someone give me the name of software that can read my panosonic HDC-HS700 1080-50p files from my camera i can read the HA 1920 files okay but just cant read the 1080 file, people tell me that the imac doesnt support the 1080-50p files but surely there must be some software that can read from my camera.
                 Regards to all Pete.

    Hi  EZ  Jim,
After reading and following the info you sent through, i realised that the question i asked was totally wrong.
my question is that my mac cant read or even see the 1080/50p on the hard drive of my cam, because apparently the Panasonic HDC-HS700 is not compatible with Apple can you beleive that, so now i have got to go out and by the software from Panasonic install on a crappy windows machine and then onto a portable hard drive and then back into my Mac.what a load of c--p.
So thanks EZ for your help it was in any event usefull info that you gave me,
    My very Best regards Pete.

  • My iPod touch charges but no longer plays music thru docks on a Phillips an onkyo theater systems, both work fine with friends iPhone?

My iPod touch charges but no longer plays thru my Onkyo or Phillips home theater systems. Works fine with friends iPhone and both systems worked fully with this iPod in the past.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • My iPhone 4 doesn't seat on my new Phillips DC291 player

I have an iPhone 4 that was pre-ordered from the original launch two summers ago. It works just fine, but I've noticed lately that my usb connecting cable no longer stays locked into the 30-pin connector of the phone. It fits in there, and the phone will charge/sync, but if I bump the phone or the cable, it just falls out.
I also added a new Phillips DC291 iPod/iPhone/iPad clock/radio dock to my collection of gadgets. It is compatible with my edition of the iPhone, but the phone does not seat all the way down on the connector when I try to mount it. The phone slides about 3/4 of the way down the player's dock connector and then stops. It does not chirp and show any indication of charging, nor does the player recognize that there is a device connected. I can see that there is something blocking the iPhone from seating completely and making a solid connection. When I connect my iPad 2, it seats completely, connects immediately, and charges/plays back through the Phillips device as intended.
Are there mechanisms inside the phone's 30-pin connector cavity that might have broken away (hence the charging cable no longer remaining securely connected) and are now blocking its connection to the Phillips device?
I also tried plugging in one of Apple's older-style, larger USB syncing cables. With no case on the phone at all, I can see that the connector on the cable only makes it about 3/4 of the way into the 30-pin connector cavity on the phone, just like on the Phillips. It seems to me that there has got to be something in there blocking it. I have Best Buy's Black Tie coverage on the phone and am considering bringing it to the store for replacement, but I'd like to see if there is anything I might try first.
    Thoughts?

Hold the POWER and HOME buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears to reboot iOS. You will have to hold for 10-20 seconds.

Can't add files filmed in 1080/60i to Premiere Elements 12. I have no problem to add  files filmed in 1080/30p. My camera is a Nikon aw1

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update?
    If not, please do so.
Please clarify  "Can't add files filmed in 1080/60i to Premiere Elements 12."
Are you importing the 1080 60i into the project using (Expert workspace) Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets?
If so, are you getting an error message inside of the video appearing in Project Assets?
Are you setting the project preset manually or letting the program do that task automatically?
    What is the project preset?
    (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General).
The project preset should be, for your 1080i...
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    Full HD1080i30
What is the project preset for the 1080p footage?
    (Also see Edit Menu/Project Settings/General.)
The project preset should be, for your 1080p
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
DLSR 1080p30 or DLSR [email protected]
Since your camera appears to be producing AVCHD.mov files, do you have the latest version
of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 12/12.1?
The answers will be in the details. Please review and then let us know the details and results
    based on the above.

  • Upgrade to 10.5.7 and now i get 1080/24p on tv??

I was hesitant to upgrade to 10.5.7 considering all the issues specifically centered around the screen issues since id already had problems hooking up my hdtv and detecting proper settings. i finally made the jump yesterday, and lo and behold , instead of my tv reporting 1080p simply, it now reports 1080/24p!!
this is all well and good, except the slight problem, if i can call it that, is that i noticed the mouse has suddenly gotten very sensitive, even though ive notched down the sensitivity, and it seems a bit erratic.
secondly, ive noticed when watching tv shows through my mini, i now have audio/video sync issues. i realize thats probably because the tv is now internally converting all video to 24p, while sound is still synced with 30/60hz. any idea how to fix this? the wierd thing is i can no longer find a 1080p output option, its either 1920x1080 at interlaced, which will not cut it, or 1920x1080@24hz.
anybody else seeing this? i havent read anything about this yet.

I am having the exact same problem, have vista/hp media center also, sometimes if I double click it will open after all, the arrow keys do navigate however, any suggestions?

  • What is the best way to exporting a 1080 HD project to DVD

I am on the final stages of finishing my first ever HD project, having made the jump Premiere Pro 2.0 to Premiere CS5.  Mid-way thru I found it necessary to upgrade to Creative Cloud, so that is where I am working now.  The HD world is so vastly different from the old SD flow that every single step of this project has been a huge learning curve for me.  I am basically an 'oldie' but for all practical purposes I am a total 'newbie' at this.
That said, I am now finding myself ready to export my project to DVD in a SD form with Stereo sound.  This is where my first problem is.  After I get this handled then I will attack the BluRay Surround Sound issue, but for now I need advice on the SD disc.
I am working with footage shot on the Red Epic.  At my current stage I am working withh ProRes 444 renders from which I have created a full nested 74 minute timeline.   Frame rate is 23.976 and the source is1920x1080 with 1.0 square pixels.
So now my movie is done, and it looks and sounds like I want it to. The question now, in a nutshell, is what file type and settings should I use to export my movie so that I can retain aspect ratio?  Should I output a movie first or take the project into another program like encore first and make my disc from there?
Also, I have my first screening coming up (primarily for cast and crew and industry insiders) in a couple of weeks, so I need to create a 1080 HD File with my 5.1 surround track that I project from a laptop.  The screening venue has the capability to do that via a simple HDMI cable hookup, but does the laptop I use need to have any special capabilities to do the job?  And what is the best file type to use for that?
I have always been more of an artist than a tech head, but I am pretty much doing the whole post on this movie alone, with the exception of the Dissolve renders and the sound design, which I had done for me (I have a great finished 5.1 design in .wav format, as well as a stereo version).
I should also mention that I currently have Encore CS5.  Can I work with this on a Premiere CC project?
Any and all help would really be appreciated.

Thanks, this helps.  I am currently encoding the feature for the SD version and will take it into Encore as soon as it is finished.
I think I may bypass the bluray for now and go to my next question, which is:
Do I need anything special in the way of a laptop in order to project an HD 5.1 Surround Sound copy of my movie?  Does the laptop have to have any special capabilities?  I can create a 5.1 copy of my movie but my laptop only shows stereo features.  Will I still be able to project the movie in 5.1?

  • External drive requirements for FCP - multicam 1080

I am running FCP X on a 2011 iMac i7 with 16Gb RAM, a SSD boot/system drive and the original 2TB HDD for user folders/data.
I have started using FCP multicam editing with 6 1080/30 GoPro events/angles.  Without using proxy editing, playback within the angle viewer is very poor - lots of drop outs and pauses - essentially unusable.
I switched to proxy editing and now playback is much better, but when I insert a 'cut' to another angle, there is a 1-2 second pause before playback resumes.  Seems like I'm right on the edge.
I am assuming my problem is an old, slow and 60% full internal HDD.
(I may have enough space on the SSD to test working off that drive).
Thus, I am considering using an external drive for the video library, or even moving all the user data off the old internal HDD and onto a much faster and larger TB drive.
My question is around what is 'fast enough'.  For instance, will a modern 4TB (TB interface) single drive be 'fast enough' for the example video project without proxy editing?  Do I need a multi-drive array for speed?  I have been considering something like a Promise Pegasus2 R4 in Raid 5 config with 4x1TB or 4x2TB.  I assume that will be fast enough??
    Any recommendations?
    db

6 1080p angles need a lot of bandwidth.
Working with proxies, as you have, is likely necessary, unless you have a RAID or a large enough SSD.
One other thing is you can try is to keep the angle viewer closed as much as possible. If you know your material well you can cut "blind" by merely using the keyboard shortcuts 1 through 6.

  • Media Encoder will export H.264 720 but not 1080

I'm on Windows 7, using Premiere and After Effects.
I've installed updates for the OS, Quicktime, and Adobe applications.  I've, opened Premiere under a different user, tried holding shift and alt on opening Premiere and uninstalled  Premiere and After Effects.  I even tried taking the Media Encoder directory out of the applications directory, then reloading Premiere and After Effects (no joy). The Media Encoder directory didn't rebuild itself.
The problem is specific to exporting H.264 in 1920x1080.  It doesn't matter if it progressive or interlace, or any of the other variables, up or down.  1080 fails and 720 will export.
Does anyone have another suggestion for me to try?
    Thanks in advance.

I was able to uninstall Media Encoder by uninstalling a long list of CC applications; Prelude, InDesign, Flash, After Effects, Premiere, Speed Grade, and Photoshop.  In addition to uninstalling the applications, I did a search on my drive for any file with "media encoder" in the name or directory and deleted them.  That search, by the way, was the only way I was able to confirm how many applications were connected to Media Encoder.  There was suprisingly little on the subject in the Adobe library.
When I reinstalled Premiere, Media Encoder came along with it.  Media Encoder is now working again.
