  • Just received a Phishing attempt for Quicktime 2009 How do I report?

I just received a obvious Phishing attempt email just hovering over the link has nothing to do with apple. And to beat it all I use a Mac and its for the windows version.
I'd like to send the email to an abuse or spoof@ address to apple. I hate stuff like this.

If this email came via a MobileMe account, you can report it to [email protected] You can also try [email protected], though I don't know if that is still a valid email address (reports are that it was at one time, but I haven't sent any message there myself).

  • Phishing attempt via email.

I've just received an email from ''[email protected]'' telling me that my iCloud has been frozen and to click on a link on the email. The email has no Apple or iCloud branding included which made me very suspicious. Also I've just checked my icloud account which is not frozen. Just wanted to send a note out to warn other icloud account holders. I would also like to send the email onward to iCloud but cannot find a contact/ support email address... If anyone has contact details would gratefully receive them.

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.

  • Phishing attempts to steal Verizon users' e-mail passwords

For the 2nd time in a week an e-mail got past Verizon's filters and into my Inbox. Both were phishing attempts.
The first time I called Verizon because I didn't know of an e-mail address to send it to and the person at the other end didn't sound very interested but indicated that Verizon knew about it.
Here's the text (I'll leave out the link, which begins with econtact dot verizon dot com:
    Dear Verizon Internet Customer,
At Verizon, we continue our efforts to enhance your online experience as well as ensure ongoing security for our Internet customers.  As a result, Verizon Online has modified the way email is handled when sent or received through an email application other than MyVerizon.
If you only use MyVerizon to access your email account, no action is required and you may disregard this email.  If you do, however, use other applications to access your Verizon email, such as Outlook Express®, you will need to modify your email settings to take advantage of enhanced security we now offer.
In order to make these modifications, please visit ...://verizon.com/emailsettings for information about the  email settings you need to update.  Additional information may also be available by going to our online forum at ...://forums.verizon.com/.
Thanks for being a valued Verizon Online customer and we encourage you to act now to ensure your email account has the proper settings on a going-forward basis.
    Sincerely,
    Verizon Online

It you are not sure if something is a phishing email or not, NEVER click on the link to go into your settings.
Just log into your account manually without clicking clicks, and udpate your settings to be safe.  That way you know you are not going to a phishing site.

  • How do I report a phishing attempt to download Firefox?

In the link area, I typed in the address for my bank. Up popped a window with a tab that said "Please Update Firefox" from address '''ab3m'''.'''info/affy/lp/ff5.php?keyword=ron_98795'''. The window had the Firefox logo, next to which it said "Outdated Browser Detected" (I kept a screen grab if you need it). It also said "You are currently using Firefox 222 which is now outdated. Please Update The Latest Version Of Firefox (Recommended).
I downloaded the file and realized there was something not right about it. I promptly threw it away. I went back to look carefully at the window that suggested a download and at the bottom, it says
"Disclaimer: We are not affiliated with Firefox. Firefox has not authored, participated in, or in anyway reviewed this advertisement or authorized it. All trademarks, service marks, logos, and/or domain names (including the names of products and retailers) are property of their respective owners."

    kristinanewhouse,
Thanks for reporting that. It is the sort of thing deliberately designed to catch people off guard, and who knows what the site will actually do.
I did not actually try to see what the site offers to download. It could be Firefox bundled with something or even outright malware.
I have made the link in the OP none clickable, and attach a quick screenshot of the site.
Phillip, <br />Thanks for the report link. It is something I was aware of but have never tried. The report form however would not work for me. I have not attempted to file a bug for that, but I did at least fire off an email reporting the problem and the violation. No doubt someone will follow up both as necessary.

  • Is there somewhere at Apple that I can report a phishing attempt?

  • Reporting a Phishing Attempt

I received the following email today--looked very professional with Skype logo and came from "skype" ([email protected]). Of course, my purchase history shows no such order.
    Problem with your payment
Unfortunately, your payment failed, but don’t worry, we didn’t deduct any money from your card.
Here are your order details:Skype Name: xxxx
    Total amount: EUR108.00
    Transaction date: Jul 30, 2012
    Order number: [removed for privacy]
    Order status: Refused
Why was my payment refused?Reasons for your card payment failing can be:
    1. You entered the wrong details. Make sure you have the correct details and try again.
    2. You didn't have enough money on your card. Make sure you have enough money before you try again.
    3. You might be using an anonymous proxy or proxy server to access the internet, which we don't allow during the purchase process.
    4. Skype is always doing its best to protect you from any kind of fraud. Sometimes this can cause perfectly legitimate purchases to be refused. What can I do?We recommend using another card or one of our other payment methods such as Skrill, one-off bank transfer or retail vouchers. I received the email below today, the page the link tried to load was Russian.  I've recently been the victim of actual fraudulent use of my Skype account so I'm tempted to think that someone has access to Skype user records.  There is no record of any transaction on either Skype or PayPal.  The 'To' field contained my real email address.  I've also forwarded this to PayPal.

  • BO XI R2 - "Blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window - attempt to print report

My company recently set up a Business Object Enterprise XI Release 2 server.  On the server are a number of crystal reports that are run interactively by users, through the user console.  The expectation is that the user will log on to the BI server, click on the report title, enter the parameters, see a preview of the report in the Crystal Report Viewer, then click the print icon on the Crystal Report Viewer toolbar.
Our corporate standard is current Windows XP SP3, with Internet Explorer 8;  By default, users are set up to use the DHTML report viewer.  The reports were developed with the Crystal Reports XI R2 report designer, and connect to an Oracle 10g database through Oracle client.
When users attempt to view, then print the reports, the user is able to select the report, enter the parameters, view the report data, and even page through the report preview with no issues.  However, when the user attempts to print the report by clicking the print icon on the Crystal Reports Viewer toolbar, a blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window pops up and remains indefinitely.
The really puzzling thing about this issue is that for about 1/3 of our users, printing will work - a print dialog will appear, allowing the user to select a printer, and when the user clicks OK, the report will print.   For the other 2/3 of our users, the blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window pops up.
I have added the BO XI R2 server's address to trusted sites, adopted the lowest security settings for trusted sites, and enabled all activity I could think of in IE security settings (ActiveX controls-related).  I also ran the web site in compatibilitiy mode.
Has anyone on this forum experienced this issue, and does anyone here know how to resolve it?
    Thank you,
    Bob Gardner

I suspect that this behavior occurs because the client computer is unable to download ActiveX controls.
The report viewer requires the PrintControl.dll to print reports from the client computer. The PrintControl.dll downloads automatically if it has not been previously downloaded on to the client computer, provided that the user that is currently logged on is able to download ActiveX controls.
To enable the download of ActiveX controls on the client computer, perform the following steps:
    1) Open your Internet Explorer.
    2) From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
    3) In the Security tab, select the web content zone that corresponds to your web application.
    4) Click Custom Level.
    5) In the Security Settings dialog box, scroll down to find the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section.
    6) Select Enable or Prompt for the Download signed ActiveX controls item.
    7) The print dialog box will now appear successfully when clicking the print button in the report viewer.
If the above does not help, try to troubleshoot this as follows:
    1) click the print button (this will cause a postback to the web page) and then cancel the print dialog. right-click in the web page and select "View Source".
    2) Search for the word "printcontrol.cab". This will show you where the application is trying to download the printcontrol from.
Paste the URL into a browser.
    3) If you get prompted to "open or save to disk" the url is correct and there is a browser setting or possibly even a system policy preventing the download.
    4) If you get a "404 page not found" or a similar error message, investigate the URL.
    5) If the issue is on your local web server, see if it is possible to browse to the URL in IIS manager.

  • Error TF255050 when attempting to install reporting services in TFS 2013 in-place upgrade.

    Hi,
Last week we performed an in-place upgrade of our TFS 2012 server to TFS 2013.   During the upgrade process all went well until we hit reporting.   After placing the reporting server's name in the input and click populate URLs we get the TF255050
error.  We are running a dual tier setup, the reporting server is on a different server than tfs.  (Though the tfs database and the reporting database share the server).
Myself and my partner did a lot of digging on here and have tried most everything we could find to no avail.
-We have ensured myself(installer) and the tfs service account are local admins on both machines
-Sql client connectivity tools are installed
-WMI seems configured correctly when compared to other resolutions to this issue others have posted
    note: this site
ProBlog on artiso.com was mentioned in several posts as part of a resolution but is a broken link.
-I can connect to the reporting services manager from the tfs server without a problem, as both myself and the tfs service.
-I've followed suggestions mentioned in this post (ERROR (TF255050)
    while configuring Reporting Services)
-I've also looked into windows logs on both machines and really seen nothing useful.  We do know that we can successfully talk to sql server though, as the TFS 2013 install already did so.
I could really use some direction/help on the issue.
    Thanks

    Hi Kyleco,
    Thanks for your post.
Your TFS 2013’s SQL Server instance and the Reporting Server installed on the same machine?
On your TFS 2013 Server machine, open the SQL Server Management Studio and try connect to your Reporting Server, ensure can connect successfully.
You didn’t configure the Reporting Server for your TFS 2012 Server? If yes, we suggest you in-place upgrade to TFS 2013 Server first, then manually configure the Reporting Server for your TFS 2013 Server:

  • Account hacked or phishing attempt

    Hello all,
I just got a couple of e-mails, supposedly from Apple, about my Apple ID.  The first said my billing addess and credit card had changed, and the 2nd was a bout a purchase I didn't make.  I logged on (not using the links from the e-mail of course), and checked my billing address....it's all the same as before.  How can I tell if a purchase was actually made, and if so if my credit card was used?

Apple actually does send out email like that when something different occurs on your account; bank card is changed, a purchase is made from a different computer, etc. But if there is no such change, perhaps it is a phishing expedition.
To see your purchases, open the iTunes app and in the iTunes Store sign in to view your account and check your Purchase History. There are invoices for every purchase made in the iTunes Store, iTunes App Store, iBookstore and the Mac App Store.
Check with your bank about recent unauthorized use of your bank card(s).

  • Who to report evening slow speeds too?

Hi, Just wondering is there a special department to report slow internet speeds too? In the evenings only with a wired connection directly to the router the internet speeds drop from the 45 Mbit speed ( speedtest) down to 15 Mbit (speedtest). During normal day hours same setup speeds are fine. Seems that perhaps the fiber node is overloaded with everyone online during the evenings. Thanks,

Have the exact same problem. We pay for 18Mbps and at nights get less than 1Mbps. It's ridiculous.

  • I believe I've encountered a phishing attempt via FireFox sync

I was using firefox 3.6.12, and noted a small pop-up box advising me that FireFox sync had encountered a password problem. It wanted me to re-enter the password in the popup box. Since I'm new to Firefox sync (I'm an x-marks refugee), I'm a little leery.
It did manage to make the 'sync' logo in the lower right of the window show a problem.
I closed the box, and opened the Sync area under the 'tools' tab. I forced a re-sync, checked my password, and everything was ok.
I provided no info to the pop-up box.

Ok.. I figured it out.. Somehow the old Firefox sync addon also got added to the addons.. Was clashing with the built in one.. :P
