Phone and ipod not connecting to itunes or in my computer.

Hi Ive tried to update my phone and ipod (nano) but they will not appear in the source list so I cant update, last time I tried to back up my iPhone it was going through the process but then at the last minute said the USB had been disconnected. This was not the case as I had the laptop and phone untouched. Now neither of them connect/sync/appear anywhere Ive tried the five R's for the iPod and the troubleshooter for the phone, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, turned everything on and off but no luck
help please.

Doublechecking. Have you tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Since downloading iOS 8 on my iPad 2 it has stopped working and will not connect to iTunes

Since downloading iOS 8 on my iPad 2 it has stopped working and will not connect to iTunes to do a restore. I have tried to do a reset using the sleep button and home key and all I get is a white band across the screen and then it boots into the main system but it is just a series of white lines going across the screen, how can I do a restore on this?

After trying to down ios 7, iPad will not charge, will not open and will not connect to itunes. The only display I will get is the apple logo, or low battery warning.

Connect with cable to computer. Your ipad is in recovery mode.

my ipod is broken as well, my mother threw it at me & it busted. at the top, it says "IPOD DISABLED CONNECT TO ITUNES" the thing is, is that it doesnt connect to anything. when i plug it up to charge, the charging symbol doesnt appear, yet the ipod still charges. Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem! My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar. When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over! I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good. I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work! The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated! I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing! I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos,since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol. my ipod shuffle will not connect to itunes and it is brand new and i have used other ipods on this computer.

When you take this one back, be sure to have your USB docking cable checked, to make sure it is not the thing that is defective.
Also, make sure you have USB cable plug completely inserted into the headphones jack. The fit is sometimes tighter than expected, especially when the shuffle is new. This is apparently enough of an" issue" that Apple has a tech support doc about it

Hey, so my iPod touch 2g freezes at start up ipod logo when in the charger. Then when off the charger after a couple minutes it goes black. when i connect it to my computer does not connect to itunes so i can not restore it. please help!!!

Try to reset it by pressing and holding the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Maybe it help.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Featurs appin the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

- Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem

Ipod not connecting to iTunes but it is connecting to mac

My Ipod classic stopped connecting to itunes a couple of days ago. I went and update itunes to the latest version and updated my mac to mavericks and it still is not connecting to itunes.
It appers on my desktop so I know it can connect to the mac and it will charge while connected. I also plugged in my ipad 2 and iphone and both of those can connect and sync with itunes. I used the same USB cable to do this too.
I have tired to just delete itunes and reinstall but I am not able to.

It sounds like you are unable to see your iPod in iTunes, but you can see it on the desktop. I would use the following troubleshooting in the following article:

Start with resetting your device. There are additional steps in the article to try if you need them:
To reset your iPod:
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Ipod not connecting to itunes or windows but displaying connect to itunes message.

I have an ipod classic 5th gen and it says connect to itunes with the usb logo and everything. But when I plug it into the computer running windows 7 the ipod changes to a full white screen with do not disconnect on it but if I disconnect it changes to ok to disconnect. When I plug in my ipod to my computer neither the computer nor itunes recognizes the device. Also if I reset (hold menu and center button) it comes up to the same screen. Please help!
