Phone boots with messages and restarts in loop

Hello Everyone,
I have a strange issue which I didn't find answered in this forum. My computer crashed when updating the firmware of me Iphone. Unfortunately I don't know from which version to which version. However after this, my IPhone reboots in a loop. It starts with the apple logo and after that you can see many white lines appearing on a black screen just like if Linux is booting. The lines rush by so fast that I cannot read them. After 30 seconds, the phone will show the apple logo again and starts all over. I assume that the firmware is broken.
ITunes won't recognize my phone on USB. Seems like it cannot even start the USB services. Pressing the button on the front and the button on the right top corener has no effect. Is there any way how to fix that? My big hope is that I could somehow bring the phone into booting from a rescue firmware which would allow to reflush the firmware correctly.

I have a similar problem. When my iphone reboots I just get a black background with the white apple logo. My options seem to be have the iphone off of the apple symbol. It also vibrates randomly when the apple logo is on the screen. It is recognised when i plug into itunes. Any ideas??

My iPad has it's own phone number through Verizon. Before I knew this, I had already set up messages to use my iPhone number. Now I can't figure out how to set up the iPad phone number for messages and facetime on the iPad.

HT2558 I am trying to upload software but each time I am asked to upload a box pops up with install and restart. I press this, the computer restarts and I start all over again. No authentication icon appears.

I am trying to update software on my macbook pro. From the apple menu, I click "check updates", software is then checked and a list presented of software that I require downloading. I then tick the relevant applications. The blue bar with "install and restart" appears, I press this, the computer goes into restart mode, I login and start all over again.
i seem to be in a loop! No authentical dialogue box appears for me to enter my name and password.
Any suggestions please!

Hi, try a refresh that'll bypass the cache with the Shift key + F5 (or Shift-click on reload) which is the same as clearing your browser cache (Ctrl+F5 for the Internet Exploder). If that doesn't work, then you can try a new firefox [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles profile] just to see if it's (your) Firefox-related or maybe an actual problem with the site (maybe starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] can be a quicker check).

Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried?

Phone heats up, hangs and restarts due to problems with the media index.

A few times a week my phone heats up, hangs, and goes into a restart loop every few minutes, which drains the battery quickly. After some research in the diagnostics app I have come to the conclusion that it is the Media Storage app that hangs. I see spontaneous restarts in the android.process.media process every few seconds. A work-around is to go into settings, apps, all apps, media storage (Lagring av Media, in swedish, or android.process.media in android) and clear data. This immediately stops the problem, but then I usually need to reboot the phone manually once to get it to rescan all media again, since all that indexed data was lost.
I suspect that my sd card (SanDisk microSDXC Mobile Ultra 128GB (Class 10)), with 90GB of MP3 files has somehow related to do, or at least makes matters worse, although I haven't tried to go for a week without it. The media data is usually around 50MB, when I clear it, this quickly rebuilds, until next time...
The media storage index seems to be prone to corruption, and/or one or more processes reading or writing is corrupt.
This is a nuisance since if I don't catch it rebooting right away I can be without battery quickly.
So, even though the fix is easy now that I've found it, I would rather not have the problem at all. Worst of all, is when this happens when I'm in a call, or when someone tries to call or text me, but I don't notice, since the phone is hung. Also there is nothing wrong with the phone, this must be a software issue, where an error isn't handled correctly.
In the early days of researching this problem, I did a factory reset, which actually cleared up some other issues I'd had with bluetooth connection in the factory installed software (even though it was of the same version). After this I waited to install any apps, and just went with standard vanilla android and sony apps. Still the same problem occurred after a couple of days. So it isn't related to third party software either. I see lots of posts online which detail this workaround, some as old as a few years old, but none with a real solution.

I recieved a reply from Sony Xperia Care support. They suggested removing the SD-card to see if that helped. Fingers crossed I have now gone three days without acting up. The next time it does I'll try removing the sd card and see if I can break the record of seven days without a problem.
They claim that it can be a hardware fault with the SD-card (highly unlikely in my opinion). Or a corrupt file on the card. I have only used the phone operating system and the Sony PC Companion application to transfer files. None of them have warned me about corrupt files. Also, if I can go seven days without a problem, why not eight? It's not like it acts up every time I access a particular file. It's just random, and rarely when I'm doing anything that access files on the sd-card.
My guess is still that the media storage indexing is buggy. It's much more likely that the storage index is corrupt, than a file, for this behaviour to occur. Note that I work as a software test officer, with 25 years of IT experience, so I have a vague idea what I'm talking about.

Dual boot with archlinux and windows issue

Hi again!
This is what i did from the beginning :
windows was already installed and then i installed archlinux after shrinking the windows partition . I made a partition for boot , one for swap and one for root(i wanted to do for home too , but only 4 primary partitions are allowed) . I made the boot partition bootable , and so was windows bootable and i got the message that there are two bootable partitions so it couldn't write the partition table . So removed the bootable tag from windows and left only the boot partition bootable . I then installed the grubloader to boot partition and then i edited that grubmenu and uncomment the part where windows was like it says in wiki. After restarting i could see the menu to choose between archlinux and windows , i chose windows , i succesfully logged in and after restarting again i couldn't see the grubloader and i automatically logged in windows .
Does anyone know what might be the issue ??

yes i only have one hard rive , i managed to find a solution not that elegant though , i 've installed acronis os selector from windows and i can choose between windows and linux with acronis on boot . If i choose linux i get to the grub menu and i can choose between arch linux and windows . So it seems that the grub menu is still there but it doesn't appear when i boot for some reason .

Is there a way to change the phone number in Messages and FaceTime?

I have scoured these forums and cannot find a straight answer to this.
Here is the scoop. I switched networks with my iPhone 5, so I bought a SIM for it. I then had my old number switched to it. However, in FaceTime and Messages it still displays the original number for the SiM. Is there any way to change this number to the correct one?
Also, I have two Apple ID's to two different email addresses. One for business and one for personal. Is there a way to use them both for Messages and FaceTime? I try to add the address and it shows a 'sent verification email' but I never receive it.

Regarding the iMessage phone number, when you connect your iPhone to iTunes, which number is displayed? Have you tried disabling and re-enabling both iMessage and FaceTime?
About your two iCloud accounts, do you have both configured on your phone as two separate accounts?

HT3529 Issue with messaging and icloud after ios7.1 update. Need Help!!!

My husband and I have been having problems with our iphone 5c since the ios7.1 update. We can't seem to send messages to each other now without incurring data charges, because our icloud messaging seems to have both phones synced to my itunes account. I have tried logging into itunes under each of our user id and syncing our respective phones to them, but it is not working. Any Ideas on what to do to fix this?
When we updated last week on Friday, we had other problems with loss of ringtones, no calls coming through do to the do not disturb feature being fully enabled and no alert to incoming calls while phone is locked. Spent a good hour on the phone with support and didn't resolve, tried resetting, rebooting etc. We ended up in an apple store on Saturday, where the guy got the ringtones, etc. working, but disabled our messaging and when tryng to sign back in, we found both phones linked to my itunes account. Since then, having problems with messaging... At a loss as to what to do now.

Thanks. We did do all of that, and still kept having problems. I finally figured it out about 5 minutes after I posted. After signing each phone into respective itunes accounts and setting up all of the messaging features to sign into the same, I had to disable the "send as sms" feature inside messaging. Once I was able to force routing text messages addressed to his phone back through imessage from turning this off, my phone finally recognized his imessage seperate account and let the message go through properly. After a couple of tests, then I enabled the "send as sms" again, and it seems to be working fine.
This update has really been a pain, caused us several issues this go around.

Start, stop and restart while loops

Hi, my qustion is i have 2 example a and example b. Example b lets u start counting up in seconds when u want to. as long as the toggle switchs are in correct position. it also lets u start, stop and restart if need be. i want to be able to that with example a, but for some reason the while loop always sets of running independent of what position the the toggle switch. Any help greatly appreciated.

Anyone else having issues with messages and alerts being delayed on their iPhone 5?

Numerous times now, I have received message alerts from various apps but mostly iMessage on my iPad long before they ever show up on my iPhone 5. Then when I open iMessage on my iPhone, the messages start arriving, even though I have already had them on my iPad for sometime. Often, I will get a notification on my iPhone five that I have received a message. But then, when I open iMessage, there is no message at first, but after a while it will finally come through.

I've had no problems with Facebook on my iPhone 5 but here are a couple of suggestions.
1. Quit Facebook like I describe then reset the iPhone. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
2. If the first thing doesn't help, quit Facebook again, delete Facebook, and reset the iPad. After the iPad restarts use the App Store app to download Facebook again.
