Phone call hearing problem

My curve is about 3 months old. i have problems where i cant hear anything in my phone. I can make a call and they can hear me but i cant hear them. It started happening after i was on the web for a while no it happens about twice a day. After i take the battery out and let it restart it works fine but its a real hassle if i need to make an important call

I have had this problem too and posted about it back in July. There is something else you can do; record a voice note and play it. Sounds weird but that is what they told me and it worked. I have the problem when opening an audio file with a text message. So from now on, if I receive an audio message, I will automatically do the voice notes thing. I know it is ridiculous, but it is all we have ...for now.

  • Long phone call, backlight problem.

    Well sometimes i have long phone calls to deal with, say for around 3-4 hours. When i want to end the phone call i obviously move the phone away from my ear and press the "End Call" button.
    Problem is, that the backlight doesnt come on. I dont know why this is, its happened a few times and ive had to press the unlock and home button together for it to restart itself or whatever, but having to do it everytime is really annoying!
    Anyone got any suggestions? Tweak the settings or anything?

    If you're using a case, take it off. A lot of people re-use cases meant for the Original iPhone and the case blocks the proximity sensors.

  • Answering phone call got problem!!

    After I update my iphone 5 to IOS 7.0.2, many times when I answering a phone call, it will auto open speaker. How come it will be like this? Previous version it didn't happen this at all.

    Not sure why it would do that. You can try resetting your device. Sometimes that will clear up odd behaviour (nothing will be lost):
    Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen comes back up, see if the problem is resolved.

    My cureve 3G has a following issue.
    The volume is too low when I make a call, and like I'm listing a person who speak to his/her mic far away.
    The volume is already max. And I also turned the boost treble on.
    What the problem could be?

    When I try to make a call it will go through and I can hear the other person but they cannot hear me, is there a setting that disables the speaker when using the headphones to try to make a call, also speakerphone automatically goes on when I start a call which I do not like, any suggestions how to fix this?

    I'm having same problem with my 3G. When I adjust my ringer volume it says headphone in parentheses. I can still hear thru headphones. Until u get it fixed maybe u could try this as a temp solution. Good luck.

I've synched w healthy Macbook Pro, replaced SIM cards, replaced iPhone 4s when Apple Store thought it was probably a hardware problem, called Applecare (no mic issue admitted). OS problem??? I think so! [Possible] good news: for the past 2 days, since updating to 5.1.1, no one has reported problems hearing me!
    I'm concerned Applecare folks did not admit to me that so many other 4s users also has malfunctioning mics.

    Why would that even matter?
    The device obviously has a hardware issue and is under warranty, take it to Apple for replacement and move on with life.  No reason to make things difficult.

    it's only not working with the "phone program" ..
    tried using headphones still no success .
    I've read alot of threads .. a month old .. but without any solution
    I tried Restoring which fixed the problem at first , then it came back again !

    You should ask your relative to physically take the iPhone to the store rather than shipping it because as diesel vdub has said:
    "No Apple store will accept an iPhone shipped to them"
    All you have to do is safely pack and ship your iPhone from the Philppines to your California-based relative.

  • When receiving phone calls, the background apps play through the speaker making it impossible to hear the person on the other line. How do i fix this? This started happening on my iphone 4 and now i have the same problem with my iphone 4s.

    I once had a phone call in the middle of a trip. I was listening to my music and phone rang. It was work calling. I answered the phone and the music continued to play. I had to tell the person to hold, then i had to use multitask to find the app and manually turn it off. Once that was done, i retrurned to the phone call to find out that when i receive an email it too plays through the speaker while i am on the phone. Why wouldn't it mute these things while i am making a phone call? Is there a setting for this? It seems to me that this only happened since IOS 5, but i can't be 100%. What i am 100% on is the fact that it happened on my Iphone 4 and is now happening on my Iphone 4s.

    The music continued to play with the iPod?
    If so, when a call is received while listening to music with the iPod, when the call is answered the music should be paused. When ending the call, the music starts playing again from where is was paused.
    There is no automatic mute with notifications for received email or messages while on a call and there is no setting for this.

    I have the same problem!! It lead to many other problems with my phone
    I just arranged a repair with apple. Yes its inconvenient to be without a phone for a while but if your phone is in warranty its good to get it looked at professionally!

  • I can't hear anything during a phone call

    This just randomly started up this morning, and the nearest Apple store is 2 hours away, so I'm turning here. I have an iPhone 4 (not the S) and the newest IOS. When someone calls me, my phone rings like normal, but when I answer, I can't hear them at all. I can make phone calls, but when I do, I can't hear the phone ringing before the person answers, and I still can't hear anything on the other line. I only know that the call went through because the screen says a call is in progress, and the people I've tested it on can hear me just fine.
    I've tried resetting my phone to factory settings, and I've turned it off and on multiple times. I don't know what else I can do. My phone is in good shape: a hairline crack in the screen, but it's just cosmetic. Nothing else is wrong. I hear all the alerts and everything else I'm supposed to hear, and I was able to have normal conversations as of last night. I dropped my phone early this morning from about 3 feet off the ground, but it's in an Otterbox and well protected. I am somewhat panicking that I can't talk to people, and I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July. Also, I did not purchase the extended Applecare plan.
    If someone could please help, I would really appreciate it. I'm planning on taking it to Best Buy once they open. I don't know if they can do anything, but I'm stuck.

    One more thing:
    I suspect that this problem is not related to the “headphones mode problem” because I have no problems with the laudspeaker.
    Maybe an HW issue?

And have already tried different SIM cards but the problem persists.
    I have taken my phone to an authorized Apple service center, where they restored my phone to factory settings, but still facing the same issue. They service center directed me to Apple Customer Care Hotline, where I have now spent 3+ hours explaining my issue and yet no one can resolve it. The easy answer if to replace the phone - and since it is out of warranty, I am expected to pay for it.
    Additionally, the customer service has been so rude and confrontational that it has completely changed my view of Apple and its customer focus. I am a disappointed and angry customer today - people would be surprised to hear just how rude customer service was including making statements such as "Apple doesnt make infallible products, that's why warranty is needed for our products" and that "every product undergoes a problem at some stage, so do ours!" There goes whatever confidence I had...
    My concern is simple - if no one at Apple and / or its CS hotline is able to address my issue comprhensively and keep telling me that they have never encountered a precedent before, then with what right can they expect me to pay for a replacement?! I am NOT here to fund Apple's research into their product faults and manufacturing.
    And even though a customer is out of warranty, is it too much to expect an Apple product to work well for at least a 'reasonable' period of time. My phone is less than 18 months old and has been facing this issue for the past 2 months - surely the longevity of Apple products is more than 18 months!
    Just a sad sad day for an Apple customer, compounded by unjustifiably rude and aggressive staff. And still no resolution to my problem.

    I am having the same issue - with my last 2 iPhone 4's. My first handset each time I was on a call wether it was up to my ear or on loud speaker, the call would automatically mute even though the mute button wouldn't show up as highlighted. Pressing the mute button on and off during the call doesn't fix it either. I rang Apple and asked what some of their trouble shooting solutions were. I got told that it might be a software issue and to install the latest software update. This failed. I then got told to uninstall the software on the phone and do a complete restore. This also failed. After trying the troubleshooting suggestions, I took the phone into my provider and they sent me out a new phone within a week under warranty claiming it was a hardware issue and probably just a "glitch" with that particular phone. This was not the case....
    After receiving my second iPhone 4, I was hopeful that it would work. For the first couple of days, making/receiving calls was not an issue. Until after about a week, the same problem started again. In one instance I had to hang up and call back 4 times and the call would still automatically mute after about 5 seconds. Also on the second handset, the main camera located on the back of the phone has red and blue lines running through it and can't take a decent picture. So back to the store I go to get another replacement - Again.
    For a phone that is rated highly and as a keen Apple product purchaser, I am a bit disappointed with the experience I have had with the iPhone 4. Let's hope they find a fix sometime soon because this is becoming a bit beyond a joke.....!!

  • I recieved a new 4s today in replacement for my other one shutting down after installing the new update. Made a phone call, person on the other end cant hear me though i can hear them! im about to loose my block...what is going on? Help PLEASE :-(

    So, i recieve a new TODAY due to my other ones software stuffing up due to a stuff up in the new software update. Alls well and good, i leave the store drive home which is a hours drive mind you, make a phone call we talk for a while, it cuts out. I didnt think anything of it. Next phone call the person im speaking with cant hear me, 5 phone calls later i turn on speaker phone horray they can hear me. WHAT IS GOING ON??? I have had that many problems with my iphones but this is behond a joke...brand new phone thats already not working!!!!! I've tried to restore it and do everything i can but its not fixing anything. Im hoping someone out there can help because im done with Apple after this because this ludacris. Thanks in advanced :-)

    If you've had it for less than a year, then it's still under warranty.  Take it to an Apple store or an authorized service facility.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434

  • It takes forever to make a phone call go thru.Often does not get thru. Hard for others to hear me.

    Both iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 in same plan can't place calls or when call goes thru the other person can't hear me. I went to the Verizon store and they are replacing the iPhone 4 but suggested I go to Apple store(ugh!) to get replacement of whic I know they won't have.  So I want to know what the heck is going on that both phones have this problem after attempting other phones, in-network, out of network,landlines, etc. I can do my apps, sometimes the texts don't go thru for non-verizon or non-iPhones. I can recieve most emails, twitter but at times even they lag for a day behind. I reboot and that helps.
