Phone Car Mounts for Frequent Traveler / Rental?

I travel quite a bit for work and have been looking around for a car mount that can be transferred to different rental vehicles. During a busy month, I might be in a different vehicle each week (more than some, definitely less than the hardcore traveler). Just wanted to ping the forum to see what others in this situation do. I can't be the first one with this issue.I've been playing around with different configurations and was wondering what others were using. I grabbedthis inexpensive magnetic mountwhen it was on special last week, and it seems fine except that I don'twant to stick a magnet to my phone and don't use a case.Possible solution: use aneasily removable caseon the road. Any suggestions here? Maybe silicone that can beeasily popped on and off when I get in the car? Then stick the magnet to the inside of that. Maybe.Just saw...

Best car mount for iPhone WITH case

ive tried car mounts in the past and some worked fine...until I got a case for my iphone. lots of mounts have custom fitting so that it will fit the naked iphone just fine, but i need one that works with my case on it. so i guess just an adjustable one would be good...being able to turn it to landscape would be nice as well. anyone have suggestions?

yeah but this is a custom holder for a "snug" fit...which is my problem. snug fit = doesn't fit if you have a case around your iphone. so i need one thats adjustable. im looking on amazon now and some of the reviews are so-so...so i was just wondering if there was a definitive iphone case out there.

trying to figure out what is the best solution for iphone car mount

ProClips is expensive and yuo need to buy two different parts. I am not driving a brand new car and when I change cars this is a big investment in something that wil only work with VW beetle.
BUT I found the PERFECT SOLUTION aqnd wanted to share with all.
This car mount is adjustable and will work well with the iphone in a case too. It has a low profle and easily removed from car to car too.
It is mountable on windshield or on the dash and that is where I mounted it right in between my two air vents and just above radio on my beetle. From here it is easily viewiable and accessable tor my charger & for plugging into car speaker system.
Best thing is the price......under $20 with shipping. Okay, what is it.....IOTTIE.

Car mount for playbook iGRIP

Well it had to happen sooner or later, long drive with the kids and I didnt want to bother with that blasted skipping dvd player thing we have.
So iGRIP to the rescue!!!
Mounts very nice to the head rest and sturdy in my 4x4 truck. Skip free video playback, output sound to truck stereo for nice sound. What more could I ask for? another one since I have twins.

I use an audio cable to send the sound direct to my stereo.
With 8 hour battery life, no need to use a car charger.
Vertical mode isn't nice for videos but it will swivel.
It has its own snap on case but does not interfere with a Tru screen protector.

Can anyone recommend a good, solid Car Mount for 3G

Can anyone recommend a good, solid car (windscreen or lighter mounted) iPhone 3G holder. It must enable the phone to be recharged during use.

Any decent car mounts for the 3rd gen nano that are not a total rip?

The only one I find so far is Proclip and there is not a chance I'm paying for that. Their separate mount and clip system just seems to me to be a way to gouge you twice. You have to buy the nano clip for $25 which by itself is useless until you buy the dash mount to connect it to for another $30. Add in $10 shipping and you are paying $75 for 2 pieces of about 10 cents worth of injection molded plastic and some adhesive tape. Gee can I please?

Good iphone car mount that works with case?

I need a car mount for my iPhone so that I can use the phone's GPS app. I've looked around and so far I can only find mounts that work for iPhones without any case.
I would rather not have to remove the case everytime I got in my car, so are there any recommended mounts out there that work for phones with cases?

Griffin makes an FM/lighter mounted model, which has several bottom mounting brackets, to fit several phone models. I tested it out today, but the ipod buttons on the model don't work correctly, and FM was spotty to awful, as always on these type of setups. It did hold my naked cellphone well, and wish it had worked as advertised - cost about $100 at Best Buy.
Belking has a similar model (about $70 at Best Buy), without the FM transmitter, also on a lighter stalk, which may work, since it grips the top of the phone with a wider clip, made to adapt to case thicknesses, I presume. I have not tried out this model, but may do so, since I have never found a single FM transmitter that works well - too much static, fading in and out, etc.
Is there anyone who can recommend a lighter mounted (on a flexible stalk) charger for the iphone, that has a stalk long enough to accommodate any rental car, I would very much appreciate it.

CAR MOUNT / CHARGER THAT IS SIMPLE AND LOGICAL ?????

Here's the deal... obviously most newer car stereos have an aux input. And if not, almost all aftermarket radios do. What good is an UGLY suction cup mount with a seperate wire for power ? What good is a cigarette lighter mount with no power ? Why can't someone make a simple mount that plugs into the cigarette lighter and powers the phone while holding it in place ? THAT'S ALL ! A small wire could then connect the phone to the aux jack or even the cassette if you want to go back to the 90's. We all know FM transmitters SUCK, but they insist on only offering these things with the stupid transmitter on it ! Does anyone PLEASE have a link to a car mount for the iphone that plugs into the cigarette lighter, holds it there in a mount, and provides power ?????????!!!!!!!

Belkin HAD exactly what you want and I WAS using it with my Touch. But, of course it WON'T work with the 3G. They don't seem to be on track to replace it with anything simmilar and everything I've seen is clunky in comparison.

Too bad it was great while it lasted. It has a little mini plug on the underside of the plug so mini to whatever cable goes to your input AND it has a volume control so it acts like a preamp so you can keep a balance among your device and built in radio. Sigh: What are all these manufactures thinking, when something is Made For iPod why isn't it really??
Edit: I missed the mount part, I use a cupholder mount originaly designed for HP Ipaq (ebay) that fits great. I didn't want to put that much weight on the lighter socket, it would wear it down in time.

Car mount

Ive been trying to find a suitable car mount for my maxx . I use a vacuum type windshield mount in my truck which works wonder full. The way my car is designed that a windshield mount would be too far away for me to reach safely. Ive tried the stick on mounts but i have a really textured interior and they come unstuck in short order. Ive run across one that actually slides in the cd slot and would put the phone in an ideal location. The problem with this is it looks so flimsy that i dont think it would last long without breaking off in the cd slot. Has anyone tried one of these or have any ideas? Jesse

Just a thought, I once had a friend that used a small device that routed his cell calls through his audio system speakers.
In NY having a phone mounted in your dash would probably not be legal but a full featured bluetooth ear device is allowed for making and receiving calls.
They are passing so many laws on cellular devices that it is hard to keep up.
There was also some device on tv that held your phone like a sticky pad which they showed the phone within reach and yet it did not slide off the dash. They may also sell these at auto parts stores. I know Boscovs carries loads of the as seen on tv gadgets.

Car Dock for Samsung Droid?

I am considering upgrading from my OG Droid1 to a new phone and the Charge has my interest. I do not, however, see a car dock accesory in the online Verizon store just as I did not see any car docks available for the TB in any of my local Verizon stores. The turn-by-turn voice navigation through Google is something that I use daily and cannot give up this if there is not a dock available for the car. I also like that my Droid1 car dock uses a magnet to detect that it is in the dock and automatically puts the phone in car mode. Does the Charge do this? Does anyone have experience or an answer to this?

Jukebox zen car mounti

Does anybody know whether there is a specific car mount for the Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra? I want to listen to my MP3 whilst in the car but can't find a mount suitable for attaching to either the dashboard or the air vent.
The size of the MP3 is approx width 8.0cm & depth is approx 2.5cm
Any help would be appreciated - l'm going mad trying to find something suitable!!

I have the proclip padded tilt version but its for the 4th gen iPod. They DO make a padded adjustable version of this that might be a better choice for the 5th g iPod. email them and they will respond within a day. I just got mine tonight...its quite nice....expensive but I try to block that kind of stuff out =)

Will a magnetic phone mount for the CD slot ruin the mechanics of the phone?

Just got a magnetic phone mount for the CD slot on Amazon and was wondering if the magnet will ruin anything on the phone. There is a single sided metal piece that sticks to the phone case, and the mount itself has the magnet.
Not sure if prolonged or any usage of this will ruin the phone.

I think i got ripped off by this verizon store , I got the 4 line $140.00 edge plan, which I had to pay for the phone in monthly payment, i did the math it was 268.00 total.. At check out this guy charge me $50.00 care package for each phone and sim card
