Phone Config Files Missing/Corrupt?

We just had an issue with a customer where all of their phones went down at once... when they rebooted the phones all got stuck at "Configuring IP Address".
I logged into the system to take a look, all the phones were unregistered.
When I did a debug on tftp events -- they were all trying to pull their config. (though it seems only the "Default" configs were going through successfully)
I did a "no create cnf-files" then "create cnf-files" in telephony-service.... this IMMEDIATELY fixed the problem -- all the phones were re-registered within seconds.
Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions on what the cause could be?
It seems to be a 2-fold issue, 1. All the phones rebooted at the same time, 2. The config files were seemingly gone, corrupt, or inaccessible in some way.

I have seen this before a few times, only ever though on a UC-520 and once only on a 540 but never on a UC-560... I don't know why each system exhibits different results/symptoms.
Something goes feral with the CNF files and in particular to SPA phones and older 7960/40 series (Never for the 7965 or 7975 phones), the only way to resolve it was to do what you did and replace the CNF's with new ones by running the "NO" command and reinstating it again.
This also mainly happens when it is a bad shutdown, moreso when it is a SAG or a Brownout and then complete powerdump, it is one of the first things to get effected by this.

CUCM Node FQDN in phone config file

Hi,
I am running in to an issue: the CUCM node names a phone receives are not the FQDN, but only the host name. This ofcourse is the case because they are configured like that in System -> Servers. Most phones do get from DHCP the correct domain name, so they look up the hostnames without a problem.
However, now I have a phone in another site, which from DHCP gets a different domain name. This phone is now looking for hosts in a subdomain where it cannot find them, and thus cannot register with those CUCM nodes.
I also figured out that if a phone can't resolve those hosts, it tries to register with the node at the TFTP server IP instead. However, when that node is not in the CUCM Group for that phone, it will get rejected.
Is there a way to make CUCM push out FQDN node names in the phone config files?

Just change the names in System -> Servers to FQDN ;-)
But....I'd strongly suggest you do one server at a time, and give time between each server name change. If you don't, the phones won't recognise the security certificates from CUCM, will fail to register, and you'll have to delete the TLS file from every phone. (Either manually or use a third party tool)
Also, be *VERY* careful as you type in the new FQDN. If you mis-type it and hit "Save", you risk breaking your cluster. (Been there, done that, got the scars to prove it) If you're running on VMWare, a cluster-wide snapshot could be your friend here (regardless of whether Cisco support them or not)
Oh, and before you start, make sure your DHCP servers are dishing out DNS Server IP addresses BEFORE you make any changes.

Vi analyzer config file is corrupt

Hello,
I have an analyzer cfg file that I was given to use for a project. It works on the computer of the guy that created it, but when the file is copied to the network, emailed, or copied onto a thumb drive, I get this in th eattached image.
Is windows xp goobering the file with some kind of appended data when it is copied?
Also, is there some easy way to suck the values out of this file so I can recreate it? Since we can't transport the file, I'd like to build my own, and we don't want to write down all th edata from the original file on the original computer.

The relative path stored in the .cfg file is "Final Inspection Project\Final Inspection Project.lvproj". So this should be the path to the .lvproj relative to wherever you have the .cfg file. So for example, if you have the .cfg file stored at c:\temp\General VI analyzer file.cfg, then you would want your .lvproj file to be at c:\temp\Final Inspection Project\Final Inspection Project.lvproj.
If this file placement doesn't work, is there any chance you could zip up your project and attach it here so I can further debug the problem? I have already filed myself CAR# 232362 to make the error reporting better in 2011 for an unfound .lvproj when loading a .cfg file.

Nokia 6230i Files Missing Error

Hi,
I am using the Nokia 6230i on Vodafone (sw version 3.50).
When I use Nokia PC Suite I am able to establish a connection however when I try and synchronise or use App. Installer I receive an error telling me that my phone has files missing.
I am aware that a software upgrade is available but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems.

Satellite Pro A60 won't boot: config.sys missing or corrupt

Hi,
I turned my computer off on Friday, went back to his Monday - and it won't boot up. I'm told that the config.sys file is either missing or corrupt.
I've tried all the usual methods - safe mode, last known good setting, OS etc but none of it works. The computer doesn't recognise that the recovery CD is in the drive, either.
As I don't have an original installation CD - the computer came with the software already installed - I can't try that either.
I don't particularly want to recover the whole system but if I have to, I can live with it. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I checked out the recovery disk and it attempts to work in another non-Toshiba computer and it attempts to loadhe local computer store (PC World) tested my laptop and told me the DVD/CD drive was faulty (they'd only replaced that a few months ago) and I need a new one. However, that wouldn't have anything to do with the original non-bootup error, as far as I know (config.sys missing or corrupt).
The drive recognises CD perfectly.

I'm trying to restore my phone from back up but am being told the file is corrupt or incompatable with the device, but it's the only device I have! Am quite desperate as I lost all my photos and have no idea where they went or how to get them back.

I was trying to copy the photos from my iphone onto my laptop, had them selected and then the laptop froze. Was also doing a software update on iphone (which I thoughi had finished). When I went back to the phone the photos were gone. I was also unable to find them on the laptop :-( (they were all of my new little baby)
On trying to restore from previous backup, I got a message that the file was corrupt or not compatable with the current device, but I only have this phone to use and no other devices.
I am unable to find any appropriate help topics on apple support. Any advice would be really appreciated

Because it says it's incompatible when it can't be, I got hope. I get error messages all the time with my iPod and iPhone that it cannot sync and that 'this device is not capapble of connecting to iTunes' stuff. I literally forget that happened, plug it in again and it works, I later realize that iTunes made a mistake, they do that.

Missing palette - Config Files

The Config Files are missing from the subpalette in LV 2014-64 bit for Mac OS. I am not sure whether they were ever there. The files are in the expected locations. The palette is OK in the 32-bit version.
I have installed a bunch of stuff with VIPM and this may have contributed to the problem.
What I have tried:
Edit Palette Set... Restore to Default and Insert VIs.
Re-install LV.
Delete the config.mnu file.
Edit Palette Set... Delete icon. Insert subpalette. ... This gets me a config subpalette which contains every file in config.llb, not just the subset in the original subpalette.
So I am now to the point where I can work again but I would still like to get back to the default palette. Any suggestions?

Try copying the mnu file from your 32-bit install (since that one works).

Adf-config.xml file gets corrupted

Hello,
I have observed in many instances that adf-config.xml file get corrupted in the sense it looses (wipes out) mds conenction string and as a result the projects won't compile or you will not be able to fecth anything from MDS like wsdls ect. Making this file as read only or backing it up seems to be the work around. I have seen this in 11.1.1.3.0 version.
But can you please suggest why this happens and any permanent solution to fix this?

In your adf-config.xml the password property is not properly closed and your property name is incorrect.
Replace following:
<property name="password" value="p$ssword1"*with this in your adf-config.xml
<property name="jdbc-password" value="p$ssword1"/>

Corrupted IP config file?

I have a broadband cable connection in our building. Im not sure of the exact setup as I just plug an ethernet cable into my mac and I have internet. (The broadband company serves the whole residential building and the modem or router isnt accessible by the users, only the ethernet cable).
I was assigned an IP address (xx.xx.xx.176) to use and all worked well. Then one day I had a 'IP address in use by xxxx etc' message, the internet continued to work for a couple of days and then nothing. My network status showed I had a connection to the network (green lights) but the internet and server status lights were red and so i couldnt access any sites.
After phoning the company they said they would send someone,(still waiting..I live in Moscow, Russia after all:-) Anyway, in desperation i entered an IP of xx.xx.xx.255 and all works!!??
I assume i stumbled across a test IP address and the company might eventually figure that out and stop me from using it.
My question; is there a configuration file on my iMac that holds IP address etc that could of got corrupted? Can i delete it and re-enter my proper assigned IP address so it creates an uncorrupted config file?

The file you are looking for is in /Library/Preferences/Systemconfiguration/ and either Networksomething,I'm not at my mac at the moment-sorry, or preferences.I'll check and get back to you. Try renaming the preferences file to preferences.old and see if that helps any.

Error Cab1 file is corrupt or missing in Reader 8.1

I've tried installing Reader 8.1 on two different machines and keep getting the same error message about the Cab1 file being corrupt or missing.
Its not missing but it is most definitely corrupted. Ive DL'd the darn thing 5 different times, all with the same results. It worked a few weeks ago on a very old Compaq (300MHz PII, 176MB RAM, Windows 2000 SP4). Now this week it wont install on a Gateway (900MHz AMD Athlon, 512 MB RAM, WinXP Pro SP2) or a Dell (1.5 GHz P4, 1GB RAM, WinXP Pro SP2). Doesn't make any sense to me.

Ok. I located the folder in the folders panel and found it was in red, not white. I clicked on it and went to library but the synchronize option was grayed out so I'm kind of stuck at this point. Thanks for your help.

but have still been unable to backup data using the third party software.
TouchCopy tells me I have no photos or Video ad won't alllow me to copy any of the critical files e.g. Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Messages, etc.
Anyone have any other suggestions for backing up my iPhone? Or help using TouchCopy?
If I am ever able to get TouchCopy to work, should I be using Copy to iTunes or Copy to PC option?

Jailbroken phoned are not supported here. Anything could be wrong with it - it is jailbroken.

On the Cisco SPA VoIP handset range, there is an option for a 'System Configuration User Password'. This feature allows additional security within the GUI and also locks down some of the menus on the phones. These phone menus can be overridden, leaving the GUI password in place. However, this is a manual process on the phone itself. Is there any way of removing the user password on the handset, but keeping it live on the GUI and to do this all via the config file.
