Phone died after failed reinstall

Today AFTER checking for updates through PC Suite I decided to reinstall the OS, something I was thinking of doing for some time. Just before the process got completed a message comes up saying that "connection got lost, remove the battery and cable and put them back in..." But holding the power button didn't turn the phone on and it's been off since than... ANY HELP WILL BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

OK. If you believe that.
When the disk is starting to die it can be bad for a moment and then be good for a while. If there was no problem while you were checking it of course it shows up good.
I tell you those are the signs of a disk that is about to die.

Phone locked after failed 1.1.3 update

I have an iphone, current itunes, running osx 10.4.11
After downloading the update file, the update failed while the software was attempting to 'update firmware' and an unknown error message was returned. I deleted the original downloaded update file and tried 3 more times. I tried a different computer and jumped through all of Apple's 'flaming hoops'. The phone always sticks while 'updating firmware'. I can't restore the older 1.1.2 version, either.
I've received errors 1002, 1004, and -50 that I remember.
Is anyone else having any trouble ? The phone has not been modified in any way. Apple arranged to have the unit sent back (3-5 days) and the gal at tech. support told me she hasn't talked to anyone who is experiencing this problem. The first guy at tech support said all of his calls this morning were people with my same issue.
What's the real story ?

First, for safety, do a quick diagnostic of the iPod.
You can do this by starting a sync as usual with iTunes, then enabling Disk Use. Now, go to Utilities/Disk Utility on your desktop, and perform a diagnostic - it should take only a few seconds. Now, go back onto iTunes and Disable Disk Use (so you can take your cable out).
As long as you have the iTunes desktop up, click Check for Updates, and then Update. (They update thee software every month.)

Phone died after 20 seconds in water

I sumberged only this part of the phone in sea water for 23 seconds (exactly how long the video I took is). Then I washed it with proper water to clean it and after a couple minutes the screen went dead and there was some condensation inside the lens. Didn't know what to do so I put the phone in rice for 48 hours. The condensation is now gone but the phone won't turn on or vibrate. The charging led turns on when I try to charge it but goes off after 15 minutes give or take. And I also checked the leakage indicator. It's completely white. Plus I'm very certain the flaps were completely closed especially the one in that side as I never actually open it. What should I do? Do you think Sony will fix it?

I was gonna post this but then i saw you post it i've had the same exact problem but i submerged the whole thing for a like at most 5 min. and the led light works and the water indicator is green! i triple checked the ports and almost everything u did I thank you for posting this

After failed reinstall of Snow Leopard, MacBook shuts down on startup

Went to reinstall Snow Leopard on my 1.5-year-old MacBook, and inexplicably it told me it "can't install" the OS on the hard drive. Had to restart, and upon restart, it gave me a progress bar at the bottom of the gray screen with the Apple logo, and shut down. This is now what happens every time. What's happened??

See if it will boot in Safe Mode. (hold the Shift key when booting.)

If your computer doesn't see the phone when you plug it in, you may have to take it to an Apple Store.

Did you have the phone set to backup things to the One Drive on Microsoft servers?

restart your design premium installation, select custom install and you should see options to pick which programs you want to install.

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to start.

N97 phone start-up failed

After making a software update using my Nokia software updater on the PC, I first got the "software update completed" message. Then, the phone restarted by itself. Once it restarted, I got the "Phone Memory full: Move or delete some data" (which didn't use to appear before). This message blocked my phone. My phone was unresponsive, and I wasn't able to press anything. So I decided to switch off and on the phone. All of a sudden, the phone didn't switch on anymore. I'm getting "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer". I really don't know what happened.
I updated the software of another N97 a couple of days ago. Everything was good with that one. I did the exact same thing for the second phone, and it crashed for no reason. What can I do other than contacting the retailer???

I feel you buddy, mine died too during the update...took it for repair yesterday. Ask them to swap it for a new one because there's no guarantee that it's going to start behaving itself.

Why does my phone die unexpectedly?
Phone is 2 years old.
It stops working several times a day by just going black.
It does not cycle off like it does when the battery goes dead or when I turn it off.
Just goes black in the middle of what I'm doing.
When I try to charge it, nothing happens for 20 minutes, then the screen sorta backlights (light blue).
Then it will work again after 2 hours of charging.
Then after using it normally for an hour or so, it dies again.
Everything is updated and backed up.
I have tried restarting it.
Any thoughts?

If I had to guess, it's either a heat related problem or the battery is failing completely.
I'd say it's time to consider an upgrade as it will probably be less expensive than a repair.

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
