Phone died suddenly for no reason

I went to bed and the phone was working fine. When I woke up this morning the screen was black and the phone won't do anything. Has anyone had this happen? Did it die for no reason?

  • Phone goes silent for no reason

For some reason my iPhone goes into silent mode. In settings I have the volume bar all the way up. All of a sudden I can't hear my phone ring. When I check the volume settings the volume bar is all the way off (to the left). Does anyone else have this problem?

    Glad to hear it.   And....?

  • Phone turns off for no reason! Help!

    Hi
I've got a Nokia 6300 phone. For some reason, all of a sudden, its been turning its self off for no reason. When i switch my phone on, it starts up like normal, but then a letter 'G' in a box appears in the top left hand corner of the screen, along with a yellow envelope which rotates and turns into a paperclip. Then the screen turns white and the phone turns itself off. This seems to happen everytime i turn my phone on now, i have restored the factory setting, but this has not solved the problem. Can anybody help??? cheers.

Thanks to everyone who has had input into this problem for me. I now have my phone working again. What did I do...?
1st I got two of my smarter younger brothers to help and they proceeded to try a variety of things including:-
    a) swapping batteries from their phone with mine, which didn't work
b)swapping SIM cards with mine, which also didn't work but did allow us to have a longer play around with my phone as it didn't turn off when a different SIM was in the phone
What worked? We decided to "Restore factory settings" on my phone. My phone doesn't remove Contacts, Calendar entries and one other personal item which I can't recall when you use this function but we still saved my contacts to one of my brothers SIMs and also moved a number of photos, recordings, and video over to my memory card.
Once this was done I put my SIM back in then restored the factory settings. There was just enough time to get to this function, just note that if you do this function you may need to have your "Security Code" handy.
I don't think that there is any conspiracy with the phone companies (I'm with Virgin Mobile), but what I think happened was that my Brother in Law sent me a Xmas message that had some inbuilt functionality (packet data??) that my phone needed to download to view it. I think this was the cause because when my brother's SIM was in my phone I received a msg on my phone that read "Unable to receive msg from..." and I select "OK" which I think rejected it.
Hope this help someone out in the future? Hope that I haven't been to vague. Let me know if you would like any more info.
Cheers, and I hope all get their phones working again.

  • My phones keeps draining for no reason

When ever i put my phone in the dark it runs out of battery for no reason. It doesn't usually go to 0% but after school it did. I always put my phone in my locker, where it is very dark once you close the door and when the school bell rings i check my phone and see that my phone has lost some of it's battery. Please help me to solve whats wrong with the phone.

    Hi Shweta.P,
From your post I understand that you're having an issue where the battery on your iPhone is depleting faster than you expect.  To help troubleshoot this issue I'd like you to please follow the battery optimization information in the article below, as well as finding out what process is taking up the battery.

  • Phone keeps rebooting for no reason

I just replaced the battery in my Curve 8530 and it keeps rebooting for no reason at all.  Any suggestions/resolutions?

    Hey daVadar,
Have you tried removing and inserting the battery ? i would suggest trying to back up and complete a clean reload of the device software and test before restoring your backup: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
    Cheers.

  • Phone automatically reboots for no reason

My phone seems to be rebooting every couple of hours for no apparent reason. I have been checking other forums, and others have been having this problem, but no one can positively identify the reason. I just conducted a factory reset, and I have not reloaded any apps. It immediately rebootted again after listening to music (while plugged in) for about 15 minutes.
The only things I have running in the background are Backup Assistant and the Google locator facility.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and does anyone have a solution for this random reboot problem?

Thanks for following up on this issue.  I've taken a look at reports, and we do see some about the device power cycling.  This is being investigated by Motorola, and a maintenance release (MR1) is in development.  This is not all devices by any means, but we've received enough reports to contact Motorola about it.  All normal troubleshooting procedures should be taken (including a factory reset) to rule out 3rd party applications as they are the main contributor to random freezing, crashing, and power cycling.
While a software update is in the making, we don't have an ETA for release yet, but please know we are aware of this and have been escalating feedback to Motorola regarding power cycle reports.  If you would like troubleshooting options, please call the Warranty Center/Tech Support at 866-406-5154 or PM me with your phone number, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
    Thanks for your patience.

  • 3gs phone turns off for no reason

iPhone turns off for no apparent reason. Battery is at full capacity and I just synced it. I have the latest 4.3.3 software. Any ideas? My girlfriend has the same issues and we use different computers and accounts to sync our iPhones. We've had the phones for a little over 2 years now.

  • How to stop my phone from restarting for no reason after it being updated recently?

Hello, I have had the Droid Razr Maxx HD for almost a year and everything has gone well until about 2 weeks ago I noticed that my phone keeps turning itself off and restarting every 2-3 days constantly all day. Not sure why its during this but also the screen keeps freezing and the apps either wont run properly during this time or they will react slowly... Does anyone possibly know either why this is happening or how to fix this or am I just out of luck and need to look into a different phone?

        Hi ds755!
No need to look into getting a different phone.  I'm sure we can resolve this issue for you.  It appears there may be temporary files on your device memory that may be causing this device symptom.  We can remove those temporary files by wiping the cache partition http://vz.to/1x7Q87M.  This step will not affect your personal files and settings on your device.  Please try this and let me know how your device responds after wiping the cache partition.  Thanks!

  • Phone keeps restarting for no reason!

I have had the z3 for 3 days and it randomly restarts of its own accord.sometimes when it's sitting doing nothing! Any advice?

Hi, you have a few options.......first run the phone for a little while in Safe Mode, this will see if any 3rd Party Apps that you have installed are affecting your phone (if you have downloaded any that is)....2nd option is to perform a PC Companion repair of your phone, you must however back up your phone before doing this.
I have added the links for you to read over.....good luck

  • HT1766 my phone turned off for no reason and I can't get it to turn back on...what do I do??

My phone turned off unexpectedly and it won't turn back on...what to do??

A reset may help: Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears release both buttons and await restart.

  • Phones shutting down for no reason, acting "erratically"...

Troubleshooting "troubled phones" (not only BB's!):
What you need: patience, 2 clean cotton swabs (Q-tips), one drop of alcohol (rubbing, eau de cologne, vodka... The less fragrant the smell, the less of the oily residue film remains).
Power off your phone, take out the battery, the SIM and the memory (if available!) cards.
Using one cotton swab just moistened with alcohol, GENTLY clean all electrical/electronic metal  contacts in the phone, whipping dry, using the other (dry) swab.
    Do not over moisten!
Try to clean gently, from inside-out; same applies to the pins, don't apply pressure, try whipping out any possible OIL FILM left from the assembly line!
Same apply to the battery contacts and to the SIM and memory cards....
"Cures" 80-90 percent of the time!

I just ran the PRAM reset, so we'll see how that does.
I have the problem when nothing except the power cord is plugged in.
The external is a USB drive with an AC source. The power cord for it acts the same way even when there's no drive attached, the light barely winks on then fades out. When the drive is attached it tries to start then turns off when the adapter (for the drive) turns its light off.
The power adapter for computer is fine according to all the standards on that page. I replaced it back in December, so it's not been used all that much. The connection looks good and the DC in board port looks fine too.
The fan comes on without problems and whenever I've checked the temps in istat it seems within normal levels.
What's the Apple Hardware test? I may have heard of it previously, but seem to drawing a complete blank on it now.
Also, at this point I'm leaning towards a power surge being the root of my problems. A bulb in an overhead light blew out the same day, I went to replace the bulb and had bought a high wattage bulb then found that the light had 2 bulbs inside and both had blown at the same time. My dad has some background in electronics and when I consulted him about the power surge theory he said it was likely. I went ahead and filed a report with the maker of the surge protector to try to get a claim in and possibly some kind of funds to help pay for whatever repairs are coming.
Thank you so much for your help and advice, I appreciate it!

  • Safari closes suddenly for no reason

safari closes suddenly and randomly.  One touch of the icon and its back smoothly BUT it never happened until recently and i have recently updated safari??

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
