    My phone froze while updating

    Hello CazVa,
You may want to take a look at the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant for some troubleshooting steps. If you continue to have issues, then I would recommend that you contact Apple Support using http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

  • HT1600 Froze during update what do you do

My Apple TV froze during update, I can't turn off. What do I do?

Thanks for the reply. I have always enjoyed your posts.
I figured that I would be looking at a restore event for my ATV3 when the update appeared to have frozen.
So since I had nothing to lose I did a hard reboot on the ATV3. (off and on again)
The device restarted and as expected, the update had not been applied.
Did the update again. ( I was surprised at how long the update process took after the download.)
After the update seemed to have completed, The lone white apple icon blinked off the black screen, the TV/Flat screen via HDMI stayed black/blank. After turning the TV off and on and replugging the HDMI cables and still having a blank screen.  I had no choice.
I did another hard reboot on the ATV3.
System started up with no problems and the update took hold.

  • IPhone froze during update and lost CD I purchased.

I plugged my iPhone 4 in after downloading a music CD on the iPhone. I was trying to transfer the CD to my iTunes library. When I plugged in my phone it said that there was an update available, 4.0.1 and asked if I wanted to update my phone. I clicked yes and when I came back a few minutes later the phone froze and had to be completely restored. However, the music CD was not transferred to my iTunes library prior to freezing and the CD is lost. Is there a way that I can get this music back into my iTunes library of back to my iPhone without having to pay for it again since it was a software issue with the phone?

Unfortunately, you may have to pay for the CD again. You should have had the option to backup your iPhone or been prompted to transfer purchases before the upgrade.
You can contact iTunes support and let them know what happened and see if they will authorize another download for your account.

  • My phone froze during a game and when I went to hard boot, it got stuck during shot off. What do I do now?

My phone 4S froze during a game. I went to hard boot to turn off and it did nothing for 15 minutes. Then it froze during the hard boot. It has been stuck now for over two hours. What do I do know?

First open the iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot:'
Look for the file named iPhotoLock.data and move it to the Trash in the Dock. Launch iPhoto and see if that helped.
If not Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Phone froze during IOS4 update

HELP!!! Have a 3GS, during the new OS update, it froze!! and my iphone now has the picture of a USB cable and Itunes disc on the screen....keeps telling me i need to restore. i click ok to restore and the status bar moves a about a 1/4 of the way and stops. NOW WHAT?

    Thanks for the quick response.
I finally got it to work: re-installed iTunes, rebooted. No change.
Downloaded the update again (by deleting the previous one), re-install and it worked!. This was the third download and all downloaded files have exactly the same size, up to the last byte (so perhaps there is lame bit somewhere in the file: don't they have a check-sum?)
But whatever, I have my phone again!

  • HT201442 my phone froze during an update and gave me the error code 3194, what do I do?

The support document that you linked to the forum from is the only one on that error. Did you attempt to downgrade iOS, install a custom ISPW, or anything like that?

  • My Mac OS X 10.5.6 froze during update.

I tried to update the software and it froze after restarting. (At the 'patching files' stage). I shut down the computer and when I started it back up it got stuck in a restart loop. It will not get past the Mac icon page with the turning wheel. The screen goes black and it restarts itself. Help!

Did this happen while installing 10.5.7? I've had two macs run the update very slowly. One hung up on the Leopard screen, one just took about 30-45 minutes but rebooted successfully.
Try shocking your PRAM (ctrlalt/opt+PR) while rebooting. I did this as a precaution when hung up on the Leopard screen after a hard reboot. Worked fine.

  • Phone bricked during update to 4.01

After an attempt to update the iPhone 3G to the new software, the update failed with an error 2008, and will not restore the initial firmware, or any firmware.
Here are the specifics... Has this happened to anyone else, what is this about?

  • IPhone froze during update.  How do you unfreeze?

When updating iPhone, a partial setup of iTunes was made.  iTunes is not wanted or needed - user is deaf.  iPhone is now froze with a request to connect to iTunes.

    EKeller_MT wrote:

I'm guessing you mean iTunes on a computer (as opposed to iTunes on an iPhone).
    EKeller_MT wrote:

iTunes is used for a whole lot more than sounds.  For one thing, it is used to update the iPhone!  For another, unless you are running OS X Mavericks on a Mac, it houses iBooks.  It also houses movies and apps.
Bottom line:  Get iTunes on your computer and then connect the iPhone to it.

  • Ipod froze during update

Just tried to instal the latest update and my touch froze. Itunes displayed could not restore   ipod.
Now my touch just diplays the connect to itunes picture. but itunes doesnt reconize it

Try resetting the iPod to see if it appears in iTunes.  If it does restore your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next try placing the iPod in recovery mode to see if iTunes will see it so you can restore.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Lastly see if placing the iPod in DFU mode will make it visible.

  • IOS 7 on my 4th gen IPad froze during update.

I was asked after the reboot during the install if I would like to add security questions. I chose not now and hit next, nothing. IPad not responding to touch, home button just gives me a pop up that says IPad is not upgraded. Power button dross nothing as well.
I'm in limbo as I can't revert, or continue. Please help!

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.
