Phone goes silent for no reason

For some reason my iPhone goes into silent mode. In settings I have the volume bar all the way up. All of a sudden I can't hear my phone ring. When I check the volume settings the volume bar is all the way off (to the left). Does anyone else have this problem?

Glad to hear it.   And....?

  • My phone goes silent mid song, the song shows its still playing but no sound. if I try to turn up the volume its greyed out

My phone goes silent mid song. It shows the song is still playing but no sound. If I try to turn the volume up its grayed out...how do I fix this?

try doing a soft reset. push and hold the home button and power button at the same time until the phone powers off completely. only release the buttons when you see the white apple pop back up on the screen if this doesn't work you will likely have to do a complete factory reset which can be found in general settings of the phone. hope this helps!

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that audiobook and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

  • 6120 problems, phone goes silent

I bought a 6120 claasic, the camera didnt work and the phone kept going into a silent mode , i returned it and nokia gladly replaced it for me with a new 6120.
the problem im having with the new 6120 is same as the 1st one, after the phone sits for a while it goes silent, no keypad tones, ringtone or any sound, so i cant hear if people are ringing me or i am recieving a message, i have to restart the phone to fix the problem, im not changing any of my profiles in the phone like to slinent or anything else
i have updated my software in the phone, i'm wondering if anybody else has had this problem or is it a fault with this particular model, it just seems strange that 2 brand new phones do the same thing
    thanks

Yes, this is normal behaviour. You can silence an incoming call without rejecting it by pressing either of the volume buttons, or the sleep/wake button. In addition, if you quickly press the sleep/wake button twice, iPhone will reject the incoming call.

  • My phone goes silent in conference call, but others can still talk??

When I start a conference call, after a random time period my end goes silent, but the other callers can hear eachother. What's going on?

Have noticed this problem as well and the work around seems to be to enable Accessibility Mode/ Assistive Touch.  With this on you do get the transparent little button floating around the screen, but you will then find your phone rings when it should.  To turn the volume on of off use this and then chose Device. The icon is a bit counter-intuitive as it will show Mute with the diagonal arrow (meaning press to mute the phone).  If the icon shows Unmute, then your phone is actually muted and will not ring.
So far this is the only solution I have found.

  • My phones keeps draining for no reason

When ever i put my phone in the dark it runs out of battery for no reason. It doesn't usually go to 0% but after school it did. I always put my phone in my locker, where it is very dark once you close the door and when the school bell rings i check my phone and see that my phone has lost some of it's battery. Please help me to solve whats wrong with the phone.

  • Phone turns off for no reason! Help!

    Hi
I've got a Nokia 6300 phone. For some reason, all of a sudden, its been turning its self off for no reason. When i switch my phone on, it starts up like normal, but then a letter 'G' in a box appears in the top left hand corner of the screen, along with a yellow envelope which rotates and turns into a paperclip. Then the screen turns white and the phone turns itself off. This seems to happen everytime i turn my phone on now, i have restored the factory setting, but this has not solved the problem. Can anybody help??? cheers.

Thanks to everyone who has had input into this problem for me. I now have my phone working again. What did I do...?
1st I got two of my smarter younger brothers to help and they proceeded to try a variety of things including:-
    a) swapping batteries from their phone with mine, which didn't work
b)swapping SIM cards with mine, which also didn't work but did allow us to have a longer play around with my phone as it didn't turn off when a different SIM was in the phone
What worked? We decided to "Restore factory settings" on my phone. My phone doesn't remove Contacts, Calendar entries and one other personal item which I can't recall when you use this function but we still saved my contacts to one of my brothers SIMs and also moved a number of photos, recordings, and video over to my memory card.
Once this was done I put my SIM back in then restored the factory settings. There was just enough time to get to this function, just note that if you do this function you may need to have your "Security Code" handy.
I don't think that there is any conspiracy with the phone companies (I'm with Virgin Mobile), but what I think happened was that my Brother in Law sent me a Xmas message that had some inbuilt functionality (packet data??) that my phone needed to download to view it. I think this was the cause because when my brother's SIM was in my phone I received a msg on my phone that read "Unable to receive msg from..." and I select "OK" which I think rejected it.
Hope this help someone out in the future? Hope that I haven't been to vague. Let me know if you would like any more info.
Cheers, and I hope all get their phones working again.

  • The volume on my Ipod touch goes down for no reason. Please HELP!!

When running, my Ipods' volume starts to go down for no reason.  It works fine for the first 10 minutes or so, then it goes down.  I turn it up, it goes back down.

    With headphones only?
    With speakers only?
If only with headphones try another pair of headphones
    Then try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Text tone keeps going quiet for no reason

    Hello all.
Since the latest update I'm having a problem with my volume levels.
The text tone keeps going quiet on its own , so low I can't hear it properly but the ringer is still loud.
When I press the + and - volume buttons the ringer noise level goes up & down but the text tone stays the same.
Did it not used to change the volume of both the text AND the ringer?
To turn the text alert volume up, I now have to keep having to go into one of my videos and turning the volume up.
But then if I watch a video and turn the volume down the text alert volume goes down too!
    Can anyone please help?

    Hi Nutty1961,
If you are having issues with your text tone going silent, and you are not changing your ring/silent switch, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
    iPhone Buttons
First, quit all running applications and test again -
iOS: Force an app to close
Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • Satellite A200 - Display goes off for no reason

I've a Satellite A200-E530D running Windows Vista Home Premium. For the past month, i've had something strange happening to my computer, soon after boot up, the display goes off. for no good reason! the only option i have is to hard boot the system and everythings fine...though a couple of times after restarting it again went off.
I've tried updating to the latest display drivers (I have a Nvidia Geforce 7300 Go graphics with a 128 MB of VRAM)
Another strange thing, Vista SP1 doesn't install on my machine. tried uninstalling my Anti virus, but that hasnt helped either.
Can anybody shed some light on my dark display?

im hoping its not a failing inverter board. hardware support where i come from (India) costs a bomb, and for a laptop, its a hell of a lot more than a bomb.
i dont think its a failing inverter board though...shouldnt the board fail regularly while im using it then? the fact that my display switches off (and dude, it switches OFF completely, no backlight at all. my laptop responds only to a hard boot in the @$$) right after i switch on my computer points to a software malfunction. because, afterwards, my PC works just fine for the the next seven or eight hours that i use it for.
im guessing there something wrong with the way the drivers are loading up...or something.
maybe i should change the power options? i've configured the screen to switch off after a period of 1 min of no activity. and my laptops start up time (from the time i log in, to the time the little windows hourglass sign disappears) can be a little longer than a minute. is it possible that theres something wrong going on there?
like i said, im at my wits' end!

  • Phone keeps rebooting for no reason

I just replaced the battery in my Curve 8530 and it keeps rebooting for no reason at all.  Any suggestions/resolutions?

    Hey daVadar,
Have you tried removing and inserting the battery ? i would suggest trying to back up and complete a clean reload of the device software and test before restoring your backup: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320

  • Phone automatically reboots for no reason

My phone seems to be rebooting every couple of hours for no apparent reason. I have been checking other forums, and others have been having this problem, but no one can positively identify the reason. I just conducted a factory reset, and I have not reloaded any apps. It immediately rebootted again after listening to music (while plugged in) for about 15 minutes.
The only things I have running in the background are Backup Assistant and the Google locator facility.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and does anyone have a solution for this random reboot problem?

Thanks for following up on this issue.  I've taken a look at reports, and we do see some about the device power cycling.  This is being investigated by Motorola, and a maintenance release (MR1) is in development.  This is not all devices by any means, but we've received enough reports to contact Motorola about it.  All normal troubleshooting procedures should be taken (including a factory reset) to rule out 3rd party applications as they are the main contributor to random freezing, crashing, and power cycling.
While a software update is in the making, we don't have an ETA for release yet, but please know we are aware of this and have been escalating feedback to Motorola regarding power cycle reports.  If you would like troubleshooting options, please call the Warranty Center/Tech Support at 866-406-5154 or PM me with your phone number, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
    Thanks for your patience.
