Phone got wet now screen is black

i did the rice thing for days and my phone recieves calls and texts but i cant see anything! what should i do

Get a new phone. Water damage is unpredictable. You can try an independent shop and have they try to diagnose the problem, but you have a 3 year old phone that is out of warranty and no longer updateable. You deserve something better.

  • My phone got wet and screen is black, please help?!!

My phone got wet and the screen turned black after a while, it is still on because I receive phone calls and can answer them by swiping the screen where I know to swipe. The phone rings and I can even have a conversation on it. The screen is black however, I cant see anything else or do anything else. I'm going to take the phone to apple tomorrow to see if its repairable. Any suggestions??? Its a 4s, have it for about 4-5 months...

    Try resetting the phone:
Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

  • Phone got wet,now it's only showing the apple icon and sometimes connect to itunes

3gs phone got wet,now it's only showing the apple icon alternating with connect to itunes

You didn't connect it to your computer or to power, did you?
Wipe it down, put it in a baggie with raw rice or new silica gel packets and set it in a cool, dry area, like a cupboard. Leave it there for 3 - 4 days.
Take it out after this time, wipe it off, use a soft brush to wipe any rice dust from the dock connector, and connect it to your wall charger. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and then Reset it while it is connected to power. May take several tries. If it revives fully charge it.
If this does not work you can do an out-of-warranty replacement with Apple for $199 USD.

  • Phone got wet, now black screen

Last week my wife's BB went for a ride in the Washer/Dryer, so it's spent the last 5 days tucked in a bed of rice with its innards pulled out.
Today I put power to it and the keypad lights up, and the LED flashes but the screen stays black.  I've tried the battery remove hard reboot a few times... not even a flicker.
The phone can make and receive calls, and can receive emails and texts (just can't see them).
Is there anything else I can try? If I bring it in can the screen be replaced or is the cost the same as a new phone? - the phone is less than a month old.
    Thanks,
    G.

I doubt Rogers will be able to fix it. Worth a try though. Even if they can fix it, it most likely will cost too much.

  • Phone got wet now wont work

Help, my i phone 4 got soaked in the rain and now will not start or respond in any way.

You find it odd that an electronic device got soaked and now does not work?
You should never try to turn on a wet device.
Let it dry for a week or so.
    It is likely dead.

So my phone got wet the other day. I dried it out completely, but the touch screen still isn't working. Is there anything I can do short of getting a new phone? Anything that can be done at the nearest Verizon store? I am one of three phones on our plan and I am trying not to need to get a new phone before our contract expires next month.

    Hello wetphone!
We're sorry to hear that your phone isn't working. It's very important to have a functioning touchscreen!  Let's explore your options OK? If the phone is taken to a store, troubleshooting can indeed be done. The store representative can even contact us while you're there.  Do you have insurance on the device? Or, do you maybe have a prior vzw device that can be activated until the upgrade is available? You can also check your My Verizon account to see if your line( or another line on the account) is eligible for an upgrade. VZW always has options for you.

  • IPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black.

I bought an iPhone 5 in New York last December. Now I live in Bogotá, Colombia and I can't find an authorized service center because they said that only if I bought it from a local carrier they attend the warranty.
My iPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black… The only way to make it work is to reboot with Home and Lock buttons pressed at the same time. But in the process most of the times it flickers again, and again, and again. I couldn't find a reason to identify what could be causing the issue. Also sometimes when it freezes, some group applications get ungrouped, causing a big mess.
I already tried to restore the phone, remove the SIM, delete all applications with no luck.
    Any sugestion? Thanks!

    Was this phone ever jalbroken?
If restoring as new, without using a backup, didn't help, there is certainly a hardware problem that only replacement can fix.  Your warranty is void unless you return to the USA.  Short of that, finding a local independent iPhone repair center would be your only option

  • Ipohne 5s got wet, now there is no service but works perfectly fine. help ?

is it because it got wet ? or just a service problem?

One or the other or both.
Contact your cell carrier and/or take the phone into an Apple store.
FYI: wet is considered accidental damage and is not covered under warranty.
$269 (in U.S.) to replace the phone at Apple.

my phone got wet a year ago and dried out...I was in fla on vacation and it died last week. what if anything can be done?  Only assuming the humidity caused the phone to be "wet" again.

The best you can do is a 149$ out of warrenty fee for the device to get it repaired.
Or throw it in rice for a day or two cross your fingers and pray to the Apple Gods that it comes back on

  • Iphone 5 got wet, now apple logo keeps blinking and phone is unresponsive. When I try to restore it I get error code 21 then on another computer I get error code 2006.

My iPhone 5 got wet and I dried it out for 3 days. Now when I charge it the apple logo keeps blinking. Phone is unresponsive, so I tried to restore it but got error code 21. Tried on another computer and got error code 2006. Any suggestions, or is it impossible to get it back?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.

  • Rebel XSi got wet, now saying "Card Full"

My camera (Rebel XSi) got wet a few weeks ago. It was in the bottom of my backpack, on my back, for 6 hours in wet rain/snow. I brought it into the tent that night and kept it in my sleeping bag to dry it out as a precautionary measure, after removing the battery and card. Fast forward to the next night when I tried to turn it on and got NOTHING. I know I should have had it in a ziploc bag, but what's done is done
So I put it in a bowl of rice for like 4 days. When I removed it and put the battery in it turned on!
It's now been like a week and a half and I tried to take the first photo today. The camera was showing "card full". I erased everything on the card (using the camera), but it still said full. So I took the card out of my point and shoot because I KNOW that one is fine. Rebel still said it was full.
I tried turning it on and off as well as removing the battery, and turning it off then removing the card and turning it on and re-inserting the card. It DID take a couple photos then but I was unable to see either of them (it was showing a screen I'd never seen before), so I turned it off. It showed the "saving" screen (or whatever it says, can't remember off hand) for several minutes until I removed the battery. When I put the battery back in it was saying card full again.
Freaking out here... I've had this camera for like 5 years and it's been through some rough times (very tough little camera!). I'm not in a spot to buy a new one right now, and I'm on a trip where I'd LOVE to get some photos.
    Any suggestions??

Is it the same card that was in it when it got wet?  I'd use another card just to rule that out.  I'd also reformat the card, in camera.  If that doesn't do it, then I would start to suspect the electrical contacts on the card reader, or a short somewhere in the system.
Canon of course doesn't recommend anybody servicing their own cameras, but me personally, I'd pull it apart and look for corrosion or contaminants forming a bridge between contacts.  Clean with IPA (not the beer) and Qtips.
