Phone heats up very quickly

I have bought my IPhone 5 16g Last week and unfortunately I'm thinking of returning it back to apple. I found that when using the 3G function the phone heats up very quickly. But if I use wifi there is no problem.
The lower life of the battery would be a product of the overheatin I would think.
I Hope Apple would replace my phone. Can any one guide my how can I replace this?
Cheers
Suresh

The phone heating up is definitely concerning.  Overheating can happen when processor-intensive applications are running. Maps is a good example of this.  While the phone will get fairly warm, it should not be hot to the touch.  Has anyone noticed if the overheating begins when using a specific application?
Here are some steps to try:
1) Note the application that you're using when this happens. (If it's just random, skip #2)
2) Clear the cache on that application. Settings> Applications> Manage Applications> (May have to choose All at the top)> Select
      App> Clear Cache.
3) Touch and hold on a blank spot on a home screen> Motorola Widgets> GPS Toggle. Turn off GPS quickly this way.
4) If you have a live wallpaper, that may cause the device to overheat as well.
5) See if your software is up to date.  Settings> About phone> Android Version 2.3.X. If it's still 2.2, go to system updates at the
      top.
6) Last resort: Master Reset (Settings> Privacy> Factory Data Reset).
If none of this has worked, please reply back with the following information:
1) Temperature of the battery: Dialer> *#*#4636#*#* > Battery Information> Battery Temperature.
2) Android Version: See step 5.
3) Whether or not you have tried a master reset.
4) If you do have Gingerbread, did it only happen after Gingerbread.
If something above worked, and your phone has stopped overheating, please reply back with what worked. Perhaps it will help someone else or identify a trend.
Thanks a lot for bringing this to our attention.

  • N8 Bettrey heat up very quickly

Hello, I am having this problem with my nokia N8. Very recently, since I’ve gotten the AIS internet package. My mobile's battery heat up quickly within 20 to 30 minutes battery getting very warm and also charging goes down quickly. Some can please tell me what's wrong with the battery. Is it normal? It’s not a whole year that I bought this mobile so in how much time we should replace the battery. Can it harm my mobile? Should I replace it?

It's not unormal that the phone gets hot during charging or use, but it depends on how hot "hot" is, if you get me.
If you feel that it's too hot and that your battery drains fast without hardcore use I would bring it to a Nokia care point along with the charger.

  • My phone heats up easily since lollipop update / Battery Drain

Unlike Kitkat, my phone heats up very fast. I just like browsing my facebook for 30 mins and I can feel the heat from my ringke fusion case.
I thought updating my the firmware yesterday will solve the problem but still no chance.
I joined a group of sony users here in Philippines and they said I can have more battery life if my stamina mode is off. In other words, it is not working.
    Even after the firmware update.
    Any thoughts/suggestions about this?

    Jeff14
If you use your device to talk, transmit data, or play games or music for an extended time, the device may get hot. This is normal because in these conditions the device uses more power than usual and therefore generates more heat. If your device gets hot after only light usage or for no apparent reason, i suggest that you make sure you use original charging accessories and follow Phy's advice.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - Battery draining very quickly

Since installing iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6 the battery has started to drain very quickly with little to no use. Anybody else having the same problem

I too was having some serious battery drain on IOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5S. The phone kept getting warm (like I was using maps navigation) I think I just fixed it.  On the hunch that it had to be something with location services I went to the following location in my phones settings: Settings->Privacy->Location Services now scroll all the way down and Click System Services. Disable Cell Network Search, Setting Time Zone, and Wifi Networking. You can also try disabling these one at a time. I really don't need these services so I disabled them all.
Your phone should now cool down and hold a charge like it did before, mine does. Here are what those settings you are disabling do:
Cell Network Search:This tracks cell tower usage and congestion, and sends the data back to Apple for analysis as to what towers are being used the most, how you move between cell towers, and which ones are overused. It does not help your phone locate a cell tower. Turning this off will not affect your phone’s performance, according to Apple.
Setting Time Zone:Your time zone will be instantly adjusted according to your geographic location. Ever notice how as soon as you turn on your phone after a long flight, it displays the local time perfectly, even before getting cell signal? It’s this setting. If you turn it off, you’ll lose that functionality.
Wi-Fi Networking:This particular setting is interesting, and requires some explanation. As you move around a city, your iPhone is constantly picking up WiFi signals. It geotags that data (“XYZ WiFi is at this GPS location”), encrypts it so that it is anonymous and unique (otherwise the data would look like all hotspots are named “linksys”), and stores it as what Apple calls “crowdsourced Wi-Fi Hotspot locations”. Next time someone walks by that exact hotspot, their iPhone will know where they are without using GPS – because you basically already “marked” the area. Shutting this setting off will stop that info from being sent to Apple. It will not affect your phone’s performance.

  • Battery BL5C charges and discharges very quickly

    Hi,
I am using Nokia 1650, Battery BL5C. This battery fully charges in less than 1 hour(the messgae saying battery fully charged pops-up). And this, so-called fully charged battery discharges very quickly, in a days time and mobile gets switched off. Mobile is used only for making and receiving calls which are very few and also i usually do not use it for playing games on it. (Point is, its not so heavily used to discharge the battery so quickly.)
Is this battery problem or phone's hardware/software problem? I heard its happening to quite a many cell phones.
The mobile phone I used earlier also had this problem.
    Thanks.

    Try to calibrate it.
    1. Run the battery empty.
    2. Charge it without turning the phone on.
    3. Once battery full, turn it on, and try to charge again until you get the full warning.
    4. Let the battery run till dry again
5.Charge without turning the phone on
    6. Boot then charge to full
Battery should be calibrated by then,.

  • Phone heats up, hangs and restarts due to problems with the media index.

A few times a week my phone heats up, hangs, and goes into a restart loop every few minutes, which drains the battery quickly. After some research in the diagnostics app I have come to the conclusion that it is the Media Storage app that hangs. I see spontaneous restarts in the android.process.media process every few seconds. A work-around is to go into settings, apps, all apps, media storage (Lagring av Media, in swedish, or android.process.media in android) and clear data. This immediately stops the problem, but then I usually need to reboot the phone manually once to get it to rescan all media again, since all that indexed data was lost.
I suspect that my sd card (SanDisk microSDXC Mobile Ultra 128GB (Class 10)), with 90GB of MP3 files has somehow related to do, or at least makes matters worse, although I haven't tried to go for a week without it. The media data is usually around 50MB, when I clear it, this quickly rebuilds, until next time...
The media storage index seems to be prone to corruption, and/or one or more processes reading or writing is corrupt.
This is a nuisance since if I don't catch it rebooting right away I can be without battery quickly.
So, even though the fix is easy now that I've found it, I would rather not have the problem at all. Worst of all, is when this happens when I'm in a call, or when someone tries to call or text me, but I don't notice, since the phone is hung. Also there is nothing wrong with the phone, this must be a software issue, where an error isn't handled correctly.
In the early days of researching this problem, I did a factory reset, which actually cleared up some other issues I'd had with bluetooth connection in the factory installed software (even though it was of the same version). After this I waited to install any apps, and just went with standard vanilla android and sony apps. Still the same problem occurred after a couple of days. So it isn't related to third party software either. I see lots of posts online which detail this workaround, some as old as a few years old, but none with a real solution.
    Help please?

I recieved a reply from Sony Xperia Care support. They suggested removing the SD-card to see if that helped. Fingers crossed I have now gone three days without acting up. The next time it does I'll try removing the sd card and see if I can break the record of seven days without a problem.
They claim that it can be a hardware fault with the SD-card (highly unlikely in my opinion). Or a corrupt file on the card. I have only used the phone operating system and the Sony PC Companion application to transfer files. None of them have warned me about corrupt files. Also, if I can go seven days without a problem, why not eight? It's not like it acts up every time I access a particular file. It's just random, and rarely when I'm doing anything that access files on the sd-card.
My guess is still that the media storage indexing is buggy. It's much more likely that the storage index is corrupt, than a file, for this behaviour to occur. Note that I work as a software test officer, with 25 years of IT experience, so I have a vague idea what I'm talking about.

I need help with my back button. It goes crazy and instead of erasing one letter, it very quickly starts erasing the whole message...one letter at a time. But very quickly!

Try resetting your phone: hold the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo (ignoring the off slider that appears first), then release.  If the problem persists, try restoring your phone.

  • Does gaming heat up your mac and how can i stop it from heating up so quick?

    can someone help?

First than all, depends on the specs of the Mac you own. As an experience, my MacbookPro Mid 2012, heats up after 20 minutes of using the game (with very high graphics), but I have a solution that I can tell you.
This solution is called SmcFanControl. It's an app that allows you to increase the RPM's (Revolutions Per Minute) of your Mac's Fan, which prevents it of heating up so quickly.
    Hope this helps you!

  • Can some 1 help me, since yesterday when i bought this phone, my device very hot and drain my battery so fast

can some 1 help me, since yesterday when i bought this phone, my device very hot and drain my battery so fast, i've already turn off what ever i can , especially for time zone, but still drain my battery so fast, anybody know how to solve? my ios is new

I had the same problem and went to see the genius bar and they swapped it no problem. The heat is because the battery is draining fast not the other way round. iPhones do get hot sometimes but not always with fast battery drain. They have a powerful processor and no fan so they will get warm when thinking hard.

  • IPhone heats up very soon

    Hi there
I got a brand new iPhone 4S yesterday. The query what I have is- It heats up very soon (while charging, playing games, etc). Please advice?

    Hey,
I have recently received my iPhone 6 - 64gb.  I noticed that the phone heats up pretty fast. so as usual I searched the web and went through every single solution out there. like turning off apps in the background, location services, suggested apps, force-closing all the apps, brightness mostly around 20%, and every other possible solution out there.
Also I don't use the phone for games or stuff, and I don't even use it with like a lots of apps, just a simple use of phone, messaging and maybe instagram now and then . but I noticed that even when having one app like instagram running for a less than 5 minutes, the phone starts heating up, not so hot and burns my hand, but hot enough so that my hand starts watering.
I hope someone can help me with a really useful solution, because I am familiar with phone stuff and I have done everything I knew that could use the battery.
Also I know for a fact that restoring my iPhone to the factory setting and setting it as a new iPhone won't fix it, cause I already done that as well.
Thank you in advance for any useful solution,
Then schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar and take your phone into Apple to have it looked at.

  • Battery Dying Very Quickly

In the past week my Samsung Galaxy S3 has been dying very rapidly. Before this started my battery would last the entire day. Beginning about a week ago I noticed that after a complete charge my battery will drain to 40% or 50% after just one hour and I am not even using it but for maybe 5 minutes during that hour. The battery continues to drain very quickly so I am constantly having to charge it during the middle of the day. I also noticed that if I am using it while it is charging the battery life will not increase, whereas before it would. Also, when the battery level gets low the message to plug in your charger appears, but when I hit "okay" the message just keeps reappearing over and over. Before it would just appear every few minutes or so. I did a cache wipe a few days ago which seemed to improve it for a day, but all the issues are reappearing.
Any ideas on what I should do?

There have been reports of the s3 battery charge not being detected correctly, and it stopping its charge when it thinks its at 100% even if it isn't. (However it was said to be happening with International versions as opposed to US versions). Someone reported that Samsungs website recommend turning off power saving, rebooting the phone, and then charging the phone to get it to report correctly. Don't know if that will work or not, but you could try it. If you haven't already looked up battery issues on the Samgsung website give that a try.

Well, you sold your phone so I guess it's not really all that important now.
You will find these posts on any forum about any modern day smart phones. While obviously sometimes a fault can cause a phone to become very hot to the point it can't be held in most cases people seem to consider the phone becoming warm to the touch as hot. This is quite normal really. When my nephew is playing around with my brothers iPhone it gets warm, same for several Android phones I come across. You are basically carrying a full fledged PC in your pocket but without any active cooling. COmponents will get warm and that is (again) quite normal.
Really, 'my phone is getting hot'  and ' my phone battery drains' are the most seen posts on any  smartphone form and nothing new or specific. That said, if it gets so hot you can't hold it that is obviously an issue and shouldbe dealt with by a repair facility but that's a different story.
