Phone is locked because I can't remember password

I cannot turn my i-phone on because I can't remember my password.  Went to the ATT store and they said to connect to Itunes.

If you can't remember the restrictions passcode, the ONLY way to remove it is to restore your phone as a "new" device in iTunes. That will erase all data on the phone, including the restrictions passcode. If you try to restore from backup, you'll merely continue to restore it, as the restrictions passcode is included in the iPhone backup.
