Phone is searching

My husbands iphone 4 is cycling through Searching , No Signal and etc several times a day ( worse in the evenings ) . I have tried a hard start , tried factory reset ... any other ideas ? We have Verizon but it doesn't seem to be a network error my iphone 4 is working perfect . Thanks for all the help !

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
If that doesn't help either, restore the iPhone > iTunes: Restoring iOS software

My phone keeps searching when I am at home and always have good service; I also can't get Wi-fi.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Connections.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these steps in order until the problem is resolved.

  • Since reconnecting bluetooth on my 3G after accidently dropping (the ap not the phone) I have successfully reconnected only to find the phone continuously searching for devices. To stop excessive draining of the battery I turn bluetooth off.

After successfully reconnecting my 3G iPhone to bluetooth (I accidently dropped bluetooth) the phone contantly searches for devices. Everything works fine now but it appears the battery is draining more rappidly because the phone is constantly searching in the background. I turn bluetooth off when I exit the but it drives me nutty. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to find out what serial or UDID info is stored on iCloud being used by the FindMyIphone site?  The FMI website doesn't show anything but the name and the device image (which is a generic iPhone image, and definitely not the 5S )
    Unfortunately not.

  • My phone says searching and won't turn on

My phone has been saying searching all day and I know it is a hardware and antenna issue this happened before 6 months ago and I was able to restore my phone on my own when my carrier couldn't fix it. Now apple says they can't and I'm 3 weeks past my warranty I need to see if I can reset it using my computer and restore it back

I haven't needed to, but you can try the reload feature in Link, plug the phone into the USB, click on Blackberry, should see 'not connected to Blackberry' click on 'reload software', choose Z10, LED will turn green. Unfortunately you will lose all your data, Hopefully you have made a backup and your media is on a sd card.

  • Cannot make calls or receive calls . . .phone says "searching"

My phone is staying on "searching" and "my number" is gone in my phone settings . . .says "unknown" . . .cannot go in and change it.  I've tried resetting it and so far nothing is working???  Has anyone ever had this problem?

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Remove and reinstall the SIM card.
    Replace the SIM card.
If problems continue, and the network is not the issue, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

Phone did an auto update to 6.1.2 and this seems to be where the problem emanates from??? Tried factory reset etc and also snyc which then produced an error code on itunes of - 42110. Had to take emergancy action by getting vodafone to swap sim into old phone. Does anyone have any advice if this can be rectified?

  • E72 Contacts missing in Phone Book search

    Hi all,
My new E72 devolped an interesting problem:
When i open the phonebook and start typing to look up a contact, a lot of contacts do not show up in the resukts. The same happens when i start typing on the home screen, however in messaging the lookup works.
    Example:
I want to call "Anna B."
I type search for "Anna" in my phonebook, "Anna K." shows up, but "Anna B." and some other contacts containing "Anna" don't.
The search also does not work for the last name (for completeness).
Interestingly, the affected numbers also don't show up on my car kit when the phone can't find them.
I can, however just scroll through the contacts ( on the phone, not on the car kit) and, bang!, the missing contacts are actually there. so just search and car kit sync are affected.
The problem can sometimes be solved by resterting the phone, sometimes not. In OVI Suite all (~280) Contacts show up and can be found.
I have yet to determine wether the affected contacts are always the same, but it seems that way. They are a mixture of old/new with/without picture/email etc. so nothing obvious in common.
    Any hints?
    3110 - 6150 - 6210 - E70 - currently E72

    And here we go again:
I can now reproduce the problem. And also explain why it seemed to work removing the search.
The problem seems to kick in after manual sync of MfE (z)
I'm syncing my contacts through MfE as well...
I've repeated the steps below multiple times both during off peak and peak hours.
My E72 is set to sync manually off peak (18-08) and always on during peak (08-18)
07:00 Quick search did not return all contacts, contact Search did, right after that Quick search worked.
    07:30 Quick Search Worked
    07:45 Still working
    07:55 Still working
08:00 (MfE Peak hours kick in)
08:04 Mfe signals new mails received during night/morning
    08:04 Quick search still works
    08:05 Manual MfE sync (z)
08:06 Quick search fails, contact search fails
    08:35 Failing retrieve contacts
08:36 Change Peak Hours to Manually sync, disconnect MfE
08:36 Contact search Works, quick search retrieves contacts.
Would be nice if someone experiencing the same issue could confirm... For what purpose I don't know though...

  • Phone keeps searching

My phone suddenly just started saying searching...I have tried pulling out the sim card but no joy, HELP

you can try a reset, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release then wait for the phone to boot back up.
if that doesn't resolve the issue, you will need to contact your phone carrier and see if they are having any network issues.

  • After iOS 6, does your phone occasionally search for signal?

Every since I installed iOS 6, every few hours, I have noticed that my phone will lose the 4G signal, the bars will go down to 1 and then "Searching" appears at the top and it looks for signal. It eventually goes back to its normal state of 5 bars, the AT&T logo, and 4G.
Has anyone else noticed this happening to them after the installation of iOS 6?
    Thanks!

Oh!  and without going into my 7 hour frustrating upgrade to iPhone 5 debaucle yesterday,...
    Siri STILL won't send a dictated text with a voice command!!!!     W    T    F??????

  • My phone shows "searching" in the left top corner where my provider should be and I can't make or receive calls....what do I do?

My phone will not make calls or receive them and my messenger does not work...in the top left corner it says searching....please help

I would either bring the phone to your service provider or go to your local Apple Store.

  • Unable to make or receive phone calls; searching for service.

Last night my iPhone 4 started constantly searching for service. I would get full bars in 3G then go to searching, no service, then back to full bars. It does this constantly. My battery drained by 50% within an hour. Any call I try to make instantly drops; I can't receive phone calls (or voicemails) and I can't send or receive texts unless I'm in WiFi. This just started last night. Any help?

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart..  Reset..  Restore from Backup..  Restore as New...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the Phone Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If you cannot Resolve your Issue... Then a Restore would be the way to go...

  • Phone saying 'searching', restore did nothing.

3 days ago I was on a phone call when my phone battery died after being at 1% for a while. When I plugged it in and it turned on again, it said 'searching' up at the top where it usually tells me my provider and how many bars I have. It has been 3 WHOLE DAYS and I have tried updating to the newest IOS, newest carrier settings, restarting the phone and even resetting it and nothing has helped. It is so inconvenient, I don't have a car and rely on the online bus schedule to get me around. Apple support says to just give them a call - as if it's that easy! I have no access to my cell phone, as after I restored it, I can't activate the bloody thing to even connect it to wifi and use it normally. There was no damage to the phone that spurred this to happen - I simply plugged it in where I was sat.
I have followed all of apple's advice yet there is absolutely nothing of use for this situation and the poxy company doesn't do email (which seems idiotic, but at this point I have lost all my faith in Apple. Everyone else on my plan has no issues, all able to use data and celluar functions.
Thanks for any help you can give me - I guarantee it'll be more than Apple!

Restore as new, not from the backup.

  • Safari search history on phone shows searches not by me?

Every time I go on to safari new search history shows numerous searches not done by me, my phone provider says no one else could access this unless they were a spy which seems a weird thing to say.
I do not have a shared computer and no one has access to my phone, how can this happen?

If you are talking about the suggested search terms that appear when you begin typing into the search field these are not searches done by you. This is a list of the most common search strings beginning with what you have typed.
