Phone keeps deleting contacts.

I have an iPhone 4 (without the latest iOS update), and I keep having issues where while using different apps, my phone just suddenly closes them unprovoked. When I turn the phone off and on to fix that, my contacts disappear. Is there a fix for this or should I bring it in? Thank you!

  • Iphone 4s keeps deleting contacts and calendar events

I've had my phone for about 4 months now, and twice within this short time my phone has randomly been fine and then I'll text someone and the next thing I know all my contacts are gone as well as everything put into my calendar. What can I do? I have stuff backed up on iCloud, and I noticed the first time this happened my contact photos eventually came back within a week, but I still had to program all my contacts again so I'd have them. Anyone have any suggestions or know why this might be happening?

Nope, and this isn't the first problem I've been having with this phone. For months now I've been unable to use itunes on my computer to sync with my phone because it keeps coming up as not being able to read it and asking me to reset my phone to factory.

  • I had a iphone 3gs on contract then upgraded to 4s then i allowed the sync between the 2 phones then deleted contacts off both phones tried a backup from iclud and now the phones are exactly the same and my main 4s wont work

i had a iphone 3gs on contract which ended so i upgraded to 4s. had the 3gs cleaned as a second phone for my partner. i then allowed the sync between the 2 so whatever was on mine would be on the other and vise versa. this meant the contacts was aswell so i deleted them not knowing they would be removed from both, i then tried a backup to icloud to restore the lost canotacts instead it seemed to clone my new 4s from my old 3gs and now the features on the 4s wont work. music and tunes have been lost along with all my messages
    please help me

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • IOS 7 Keeps Deleting Contacts!

I'm not one who normally jumps into forums and posts about problems.  Normally, I'm very patient and understanding of glitches and system upgrades.  This is the VERY FIRST TIME I've posted in the Apple support forums.
This is VERY VERY VERY frustrating!!!  I've had the new iOS 7 installed since the 19th of Sept.  Everything was fine until day before yesterday!  The functionality of the new iOS is nice, but the look is HORRIBLE in my opinion!  It just doesn't look like an Apple device any longer!
Regardless of the look of iOS 7, I plugged my phone into the charger two nights ago, set my alarm and went to sleep.  Woke up, all my contacts were gone!  GONE!!  I didn't DO anything!!!!!  900+ contacts from several years of data!
Rebooted, nothing.  Sat at my desk at work, stewing over it and about two hours into my day, they were inexplicably back!  Went to sleep last night, woke up this morning, gone again!!  Checked all my setttings, everything appears to be as it should be.  Got to work, back again, but now I'm missing approximately 300+ contacts of my 900+ total.  *** APPLE!!!  So much for trusting APPLE devices any longer!  This is such crap!  Quality control has gone STRAIGHT DOWN THE TUBES!!!  I've been with iPhone since the first release and have sworn by it!  But, things seem to be getting worse and worse!  What a CROCK!!!  Yeah, I backup, but that's not the point!  This is a problem!
We pay WAY too much money to be dealing with such problems!  3 iPhones in my household , 3 iPods and an iPad, along with full service through AT&T (since day one)!  I WILL WALK AWAY from my contract (regardless of cost) if problems like this don't stop!  Once I leave, Apple, I WON'T be back!!!  KEEP IT UP!!!!!  Steve J. would be appalled at how POORLY things are going!  Yes, I pulled the Steve J card because I truly believe his legacy is falling apart!  Look at the complaints!  I will NOT be taking any steps to purchase any new Apple devices for the foreseeable future!  iPhone 5 can kiss off!  I was thinking about a new Mac, but not any longer!
If I wanted reliability issues, I would have purchased a MICROSOFT centric device!   EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED LONG TERM CUSTOMER AND SOON TO BE EX-FAN!

This morning my contacts dissapeared and i discoverd it when i reached my work and wanted to call my wife to tell i arrived i do this becous i live in Iraq. Now my wifes number is not the biggest issue, but if i get in need to call some of the life lines i have here in case of any trouble, i vould have been in derp **** this morning. I have lost all relyability to Appel and wont ever buy an apple Iphone again, and i never use to be cheap when i buy appel products.
Now this morning i arrived safe and sound and i whent direcly in here when i reached wifi but found no solution. How ever i started playing around, restarting but no luck. I then whent to icloud settings and merged the contacts but still no luck, so i swiched the contacts of in i cloud again and what do you know 30 min later my contacts were there again.
Dont rely on your iphone keep you important contacts in your Nokia 3310 ;)
Im sorry about all the misspels i hope i made sence

  • BBM Keeps Deleting Contacts

I deleted an important contact by mistake. How can i restore it? My contacts were not backed up

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
When I read your subject line, I was very worried that we may have some system-level issue. Then, when I read the body of your post I realize that this is 100% user error...rather misleading that subject line is, don't you think?
The answer is -- no. Restore requires a data source that was created prior to the problem happening. Since you admit to not taking proper backup precautions, then there is no backup source to be used for a restore. So there is nothing to be done.
    Good luck.

  • HT204150 We have multiple phones active in the home sharing.   When I sync my phone all of the other phones share contact information.  Is there a way to have each phone keep there contacts without sharing?

Is there a way to have contacts stay exclusive to each phone after syncing?

I don't even see the iMessage option on my iPad anywhere. Maybe it needs to be updated?
Does this have anything to do with iCloud or just iMessage?

  • HT1766 Phone keeps dropping contacts--how can I recover these??

There is no rhyme or reason as to which contacts it drops nor can I locate these in the phone anywhere. It is irritating when I do not have a phone number that I think I should have stored in the phone. Anyone else have or had problems with this and if so, how did you fix it? How do I even go back to original contact list and copy that to my iphone?? Using iPhone 5 with current update and have all Apple products connected via the cloud. Thank you.

This problem solved by referring to "My contacts have gone missing on my iPhone 5" and using the suggested solution there--it worked very well and contacts are back.

  • IPhone contact list reimporting deleted contacts

I keep deleting and consolidating Facebook contacts in my iPhone contacts list but it keeps reimporting them. I don't want all of these Facebook contacts in my iPhone contacts list. Is it possible to stop the phone reimporting deleted contacts?

but wouldn't i then lose all of the facebook contacts from my iphone contact list? I want to keep some of them and delete others.

  • How do i keep my contacts if i delete my icloud account from my phone?

i am trying to delete my icloud account from my phone but how do i keep my contacts? my broher is on the same icloud account how do i get his contacts off of my phone

First, turn off using iCloud for your contacts. Go to:
Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> (your iCloud account)
    Switch "Contacts" to OFF.
You should get a dialog box asking you if you want to keep the contacts on the phone or not -- choose the option to keep them.
Now you can delete the iCloud account but retain the contact information.

  • Deleting Contacts on phone (but keep them on my mac)

Is there a way to delete contacts on my iPhone but keep them on my Mac (Macbook Pro) or vise versa.  I use iCloud, so Im not sure.  Some people I no longer need to contact via phone, but would still like to keep their contact info, in case I ever need to contact them.

Drag them to your "on my mac' group in address book, contacts in this group won't sync with iCloud.
This user tip might help you understand how accounts work with Address Book.

  • HT204150 I have 2 iphones registered under same account, but both phones had different contacts in them, somehow icloud duplicated, exchanged them. and deleted could not restore the contacts, how do I restore it? plz help

I have 2 iphones registered under same account, but both phones had different contacts in them, somehow icloud duplicated, exchanged them, and I turned off the icloud on one of them, while doing that it asked me if I want to keep them on my phone or not. I pressed the one saying not to keep them. I deleted all of them and could not restore the contacts, how do I restore it? when I sign in to my icloud account online it only shows the contacts that were on the other phone. plz help

I access a personal iPhone and iPad, and a business iPhone with the same Apple ID.
The iPhone's passcode lock feature is completely separate from another iPhone or iOS device.
All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps. If some apps were downloaded with one Apple ID and then a new Apple ID is created, in order to download an app update that was installed with the original Apple ID requires using that Apple ID and password.

  • My phone seems to delete contacts and info when the battery gets low, is there a solution to this issue?!

After the most recent update, I've noticed a couple MAJOR changes! 1) The battery life can barely make it through half the day. I have to keep charging it no matter how little I use it. I've even turned off apps running in the background, it didn't make much difference. And 2) When the battery gets really low, at the 10% mark, it deletes contacts and settings. I've lost so many contacts all of the sudden and I constantly have to restore my iPhone. It's so frustrating! And when the battery gets low, it also deletes my e-mail account to receive e-mails on the phone. I'm tired of having to constantly reset my phone carry a charger with me, it's not reliable any longer and I'm not sure why. Help??

Here is some information on the applecare +:
    http://www.apple.com/support/products/iphone.html
It appears that you have to buy the applecare within 30 days of buying your phone - you said that your phone warranty is almost over, so when did you buy it??? That could be the explanation for the error.
