Phone lock out

How many incorrect trys on passcode before phone locks you out completely? and once it does lock you out how can i still back up my phone for when I get a new one?

Then you are NOT using the same computer it normally syncs with. That, or the passcode was set/changed since the last time you synced the phone with that computer.
It's too late to back up at this point. You will need to force the phone into recovery mode and restore it. You will lose everything since your last backup.

  • Cisco 7940 phone - lock out handset

    Hi,
is it possible to lock out the handset, we use IPPC Enterprise and want to stop our call centre agents from using the handset for making calls. Instead we want to force them, to use the dialing function in the CTI OS application, with the result being that we can report through webview on outbound call usage against agent ID.
Have heard we might be able to do this via an ACL on the phone vlan interface wherein we may be able to deny CED's (Caller entered digits) Would apprecaite any help with this or any other suggestions.
    Regards

    Norm:
We were looking for the same result and ended up removing the handsets altogether during training. This helped to communicate the need to use the CTIOS/CAD interface with the headset.
This may be another option for you.

  • How many times with wrong password will phone lock out

how many times with wrong password will phone lock out

Depends on whether you have it set to erase data after 10 attempts. Otherwise it will lock out for a certain amount of time and then you can try again before it locks out again. However, if you cannot remember the passcode, you will have to restore the phone on the computer you normally sync with http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.

  • Phone locked out

I've been using an iphone 4 that was a refurbished replacement provided by Apple when my previous phone broke outside of warranty. The phone was sim free and I've been using it on Vodafone for approximately 6 months.
I've recently purchased an iphone 5 and restored my old phone to factory settings prior to selling it - the new owner of the phone cannot activate it as the phone is asking for the sim card that came with the phone to be inserted. I no longer have my sim card that I was using as it was deactivated when I changed over to my new phone. Therefore the phone appears to be locked out which seems wrong considering it was sim free when I first received it.
    Any help would be appreciated

Do you have any information on your device that you do not want to lose?
The next step is to perform a hard reset on your device. This will wipe off all your info from your device so make sure you have everything backed up before doing a hard reset.
A hard reset is performed by holding down the power/call end button while sticking something thin (your stylus, paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power/call end button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power/call end button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.
After performing a hard reset, see if you are still encountering this problem and write back if you still need help.

  • My old Apple Id can no longer be accessed due to my original e-mail being locked out. How can I switch Apple ID's without access to the one my phone continues to use?

My old hotmail account which has my old Apple ID (which is still connected to my phone) has been locked out. I have forgot the password to my original Apple ID and a recovery cannot be sent to my old account due to me not being locked out (believe someone has hacked it). I have set up a new Apple ID with a seperate e mail adress, however I cannot use the App Store because of my phone only recognizing the original e-mail I can no longer acess. Please help.

Contact the Apple account security team for your country and ask for assistance resetting the password: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.

  • I am locked out of my phone, so I can't access iTunes to try and reset my phone?

I am locked out of my iphone 5s.  Finger touch won't work until I put in my passcode.  I can't get into itunes to reset my phone, because my phone is locked.  I don't know what else to do.

  • What is the difference between the passcode on my iPhone 5 and a password?  I am locked out of my phone.

What is the difference between the passcode on my iPhone 5 and a password?  I am locked out of my phone.

Not entirely sure what you are asking, but a passcode to unlock an iOS device is normally 4 digits long (so is a 4 digit code), though you can make it alphanumeric and longer (so effectively becomes a password).
If you don't know the passcode to unlock your phone or it's showing the disabled screen then there are instructions on this page for how to reset a device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 - you should then be able to restore/resync your content to it.

  • I was told to create a password for my itunes backup, which i did.  Now its telling me my passwords is incorrect.  I dont know what to do because i am locked out of my phone and don't remember its password.

I forgot the password to unlock my phone.  I read online to go to itunes and create an encrypted password for my backup and then sync my phone and then restore it.  But now, when i try to enter my passcode into itunes to backup, it tells me it is incorrect.  I don't know what to do..  I am locked out of my phone and my itunes backup.  please help me

The backup encryption passcode has nothing to do with locking a user out of their backup.
If the encryption passcode has been forgotten, nothing can be done.  There is no reset for the encryption passcode.
Delete the backup and create a new one.

  • TS4515 - MY OWN phone locked me out?

Ugh, I'm freaking out here. >:(
TL;DR - teenager, given an iphone 4s, restored it a bunch of times, connected a few different emails to them. Restored after iOS 7.1 update, now I'm locked out. Bought new from legit mall retailer years ago, don't know what to do?
I have an iPhone 4s that I got 2 years ago as a graduation present from my parents. And in the past, my phone has needed to be restored more than once. I chalk it up to the fact that I've dropped it quite a bit and the thing has some weird quirks now and again, like closing apps or restarting itself. Anyways, if an update came out and I didn't download it right away, it would shut itself down after a while (couple of weeks) and need to be restored. I didn't keep track of all my passwords (dumb teenager) and made five different accounts for my iphone over two years before finally sticking to the last one – since Apple used to have a limit on a maximum of five accounts associated with one phone, and that any of them could be used at any time to re-activate the phone.
Now, thanks to iOS 7's clever anti-theft thing, it won't accept my current apple I.D. Despite the fact that I have been using it on that phone for MONTHS, since it wasn't the first email I set up with Find My Iphone. It says “this phone has been linked to b*****@gmail.com. Awesome – I think have that one, same number of characters and everything. My notes from my iphone is still on my icloud, everything is fine. After much password searching, I got it to finally log in...but oh, wait, this ID can't be used to activate this iphone. I don't remember any of my others, or if I do, they aren't working. So what am I expected to do? I only used 2 different passwords for all five accounts and not one of them is working.
I've looked around for similar issues and everyone is basically shrugging their shoulders, going 'that *****. You lost your device.” when I DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO RESTORE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. This is ridiculous.
And before anyone says anything, THE PHONE IS NOT STOLEN OR SECOND HAND. This is even more annoying – anyone who has my problem seems to get that thrown at them, and this time that's simply not the case. The phone was bought, new, from a Rogers store with myself and my parents over 2 years ago, like a year after the 4s came out and it was still pretty new. I have multiple copies of paid bills with my phone's number on it, attached to THIS iphone. They might even have the initial reciept somewhere still. . I'm on a serious budget and a family contract with my phone company that continues for another year, so I refuse to up and buy another phone. I shouldn't have to, and I don't understand how this company can just go 'whoops' and wash their hands of the whole thing, while I'm out $500 on a bricked phone PLUS cutting my contract OR buying a new mobile. What can I do?

Try reseting the phone, then connect it to Itunes and , Use "Help" run Diagnostics from the Itunes menu to check
communication between the Phone and Itunes.
If you are using a firewall such as Zone Alarm or similar check that it's no preventing communication between the Iphone and Itunes. Turn it off or if you can make sure that the correct communication ports are open.
    good luck

  • Upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 - and locked out of phone

Just upgraded to iOS 7.0.3. I enabled passcode lock (for the first time, so I could try out this new Keychain thing). I am CERTAIN of the code I chose. (And obviously had to enter it twice to set it). It is a significant number for me. But 5 mins later I tried to use the phone, and I'm locked out. I've seen the threads on how to restore, so will go ahead and do that now. But I am posting this in case others have the same problem.  Of course it is possible I've had some kind of mind storm, or entered the code I wanted to use incorrectly twice. But I am 99% certain this is not the case, so I'm thinking there must be a bug. Anyone else had the same problem.

Apple - what is going on here? I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.03 this morning and all seemed fine.
It is set to lock WITHOUT any code after 5 minutes...
I looked back at my phone, swiped and it asked for a code....
I entered my normal SIM lock code thinking it wanted that but NO. Now it is DISABLED.
What is the QUICK fix please as I am MANY MILES AWAY from the laptop I connect my phone to and it dies NOT have location services turned on.
    PLEASE ADVISE ASAP.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

  • I forgot my phone lock code, how do i recover it so im not locked out permanently

i forgot my phone lock code, how do i recover it so im not locked out permanently

You'll have to wipe it out and restore from backup to recover, that'll reset the code but you'll lose any data since your last sync.
