Phone not updating Facebook Contacts

I recently had to get a new Droid 2. I used backup assistance and all my phone numbers are in the new phone but my phone will not update the pictures with Facebook. When I go into my contacts it does not even show a facebook profile linked to the client. I have tried everything. I have deleted the Facebook app and re-installed it several times. I even let the phone sit overnight and it never connected the accounts, it has on those contacts that have a twitter or google+ account. My previous Droid 2 connected to the facebook profile. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

Seems you have tried multiple troubleshooting steps to resolve the Facebook Contact issue. I would like for you to check one more setting for me. Making sure you have re-added Facebook as a syncing account, check to see what "Display groups" are selected to be displayed in your contact list.
Please let me know your findings.

Perhaps by verifying that you are using "icloud group" of your contacts on pad and mac.
Open contacts and see if icloud is your default.

Iphone 4 automatically sending nuisance/ viral e-mail messages from my yahoo account to members of my phone/ e-mail/ facebook contact list. What can I do to stop this?

This has occurred on 2 different occassions. In both cases, I can not identify a viral email that I would have opened that could have started this as we are very cautious about opening unknown emails, and definately NEVER double click on links that come through in nuisance/ spam type e-mails.
This morning was the second time that it appears my iphone was somehow involved in automatically sending out a mass nuisance message to all my contacts (phone contacts/ facebook contacts/ yahoo contacts). The email contained no message - except for a single link to an unknown destination of course since I refuse to dbl click on it to see what I have sent out to my friends.
This is the second time it has happened. I have posted on facebook to all my friends to not open the message. I have deleted ALL my contacts from both my phone and from yahoo contact list. I even deleted facebook and all it's info. from my phone to remove their contact lists. I don't want this to keep happening to my friends. The only thing I haven't deleted is my phone contacts (phone numbers) but I am assuming it may very well happen again since the automatic message was also sent to my phone contacts. (Not sure how that even happens - an auto email to a phone number?)
I have been reading on this site that it is nearly impossible to get a virus on your iphone - however, what other explanation is there? I don't have a PC - I don't have any Windows products in my home. We own 1 ipad and 2 iphones at the moment. I never access my yahoo account from anywhere but my MAC products. What is happening and how can it be resolved?

if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

Android phones not sending new contacts to GW

What are the default folders that should be set to syncing to the phones? I didn't see anything in the docs, but I could have easily missed that. It used to be that (GWmobile 2 & 3 I think) wanted a folder called "Unfiled" where it sent any contacts created on the phone that were not put into a folder. That doesn't work, with Android at least.
What it does do, is very strange.
0. You have two phones hooked into the same email account. In my case, an Epic & a Hero (both Sprint).
1. Let's say you have two folders set to sync - Unfiled (legacy) and Contacts (because the program seems to want a folder named "Contacts" - if you don't have one it will frequently rename your first syncing folder as "Contacts" on the phone side).
2. You add a new contact, but are unable to put the contact into a folder (the Sprint Epic, for example, does not allow you to change the folders that Exchange contacts are assigned to evidently - I just received a test model and this "feature" is driving me crazy).
3. The contact will show up on the other phone, but not in either of the syncing folders in your Groupwise address book. What? Crazy right? No - it's in Frequent Contacts!
4. Even though you don't have Frequent Contacts set to sync... the contact created on your phone is syncing "via" Frequent Contacts (while the rest of your Frequent Contacts are, thankfully, NOT syncing).
I'm guessing that Groupwise by default sets contacts with no "folder" attribute to show in Frequent Contacts... or something?
Anyway. What am I doing wrong here?
Note: I just verified that it does not matter what folder you put the contacts in (the Hero lets you file them), they still show up in Frequent Contacts and sync to the other phone mostly in the correct folder ("none" on the Hero -> "Not Assigned" on the Epic, "Contacts"->"Contacts" and "Unfiled"->does not sync !?!?).

I skipped some clarification as well. There is another bug, one which I cannot reproduce predictably, but that I have seen a dozen times or so, where the first contact folder you have set to sync (regardless of the name, I've had it happen to "A Architects", "Consultants", "Unfiled", etc.) gets renamed to "Contacts" when sent to the phone. Had this happen on Android & WinMo devices. The original book in GW is fine, but the folder/book on the phone has the label "Contacts".

Well, as I said, I can assign folders on the Hero, but they still don't go to the right place in GW - and they sometimes go to the right place on another phone (they go to Frequent Contacts in GW, or sometimes nowhere). I guess the device could be assigning them in a way not supported by GW? I'm not sure, the ones that get sent down show up exactly like the new ones I create.

Seriously. Do people actually use the FC folder? No one here does - it gets filled up with junk so fast it would a) render a phone much less useful and b) seems like it would waste a bunch more server cpu time & disk space with the extra syncing.

OK, I'll have to look into that. I'm new to this whole Novell "support" arena, as this server (& GMS2-3) are the only Novell products I'm responsible for.
Thanks for the feedback! Is there somewhere that Novell at least has a "known issues" section, or a "features coming in next patch"? I've searched around this site (and googled the net in general) and no luck yet.
In the mean time, I'll just keep my fingers crossed for patches and continually apologize to my users and reset their phones and contacts on a weekly basis. Which is tons of fun.

Updating Facebook Contact Profile Pictures

Is there anyway to update the facebook contact profile pictures? Is there a button where i can press sync and it syncs them?

At this time the only option to do this is with a third party application. The name of the application is SyncMyPix. Keep in mind all applications are from third party developers and are download at your own risk.

Sync does not update Touch Contacts from desktop Address Book

I add names to the desktop computer's Address Book. When I sync the Touch, the new entries do not appear in Contacts. One entry is for "Dave". So I created an entry on the Touch named "Dave" and then synced, to see if it would acquire the data for Dave from the Address Book. Instead it created a new entry in Address Book for "Dave". So there are now two cards for Dave on the computer but the Touch still doesn't know his phone number.
What's going on?

I phone not updating

i spent 30 mins downloading the latest update pluged in then lost everything and had to use another computer to restore my iphone i have tried this twice now any ideas?

now first you got to delete all lines containing the gs.apple.com file in the host file in your computer here is how you go about doing that
go to:Local Disk C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
open the etc file you will have a file with the name HOST then open this file with either notepad or blocknote
then you will fine either 1 or 2 lines which have the gs.apple.com file embedded between delete everything on those lines including the gs.apple.com
but before doing so make sure iTunes is close on you computer
then do restart your computer
Next now make sure you have internet running on this computer the go ahead to open the iTunes application, then next you should connect just the USB dock connector of your phone to the computer without the phone connected yet
then next make-sure your phone is switched off
then next push-down and hold the home button for say 15 to 20 seconds
still holding the home button connect your phone to the USB Dock connector(not it should be connected already to your computer)
while still holding down on the home button and phone now connected to the computer you will get a message on itunes which prompts you to restore your phone before using
Now you can let go of your home button then click okay and restore

Email Issue + Phone not silent + facebook

My first issue with with the emails. I have my email setup and its on googlemail. Now I have several folders to ensure mail is easy sorted etc etc, I have a folder on Gmail called "AllHostOne" where all my company emails go, it seems that on my phone under my email it has the AllHostOne folder but it wont sync the emails. As in I wont get notification of any emails coming through to that folder, I'll get notifications of emails coming in from other folders but not the "AllHostOne" folder. I've tried looking through the options but the options are very vague and hardly any option to change
2) Secondly, the "Silent" phone setting is not silent at all, even with this enabled it is not silent, the phone still beeps etc just a little quiter, now i've selected the "Silent" phone setting and told it sound off, but then gone to select "normal" and thats got sound off so it seems that the sound options are global and all "silent" does is makes the sounds quiter and is not actually silent. Is there a way to truely have silent?
3) Another issue, I seem to have a misterious facebook notification unread on my Z10, it has the "1" in on the facebook hub but there is no unread message or anything, I've even gone to the facebook hub settings and selected unread and there is nothing, I cant make anything as read because every thing has been read, and syncing does nothing.... any idea?

To have your Gmail folders synchronized with your BlackBerry Z10, go into Settings>Accounts, click on your Gmail account then click edit. Choose the Advanced option at the bottom then choose Edit Folder Settings. Place a check mark in any folders you want to synchronize with your device.
When your BlackBerry Z10 is in silent, are the "beeps" coming from email, Facebook or Twitter notifications?
In regards to the Facebook notification, have you checked the application itself to see if anything appears?

Updating Facebook Contacts in System Settings crashes.

Twitter and LinkedIn update fine, but Facebook just hangs when I click "Update Profile Photos..." from "Internet Accounts" in System Settings.
The only clue is this output from Console but I have no idea what it means. (This is just the first few lines, not the entire output.)

Likewise, with the same call stack. Running OS X 10.9.4 here. I can't begin to guess what the problem is without seeing the source code, but it looks like FacebookContactUpdater (a system process that talks to Facebook and updates the address book) is passing nil to a method on ABAddressBook that's documented as throwing an exception (and thus crashing the app) when nil is passed. Gross. The question is, is there a workaround, or are we stuck waiting for a fix from Apple?

I connect my iphone 4 to my itunes and when I press update to get the new iOS 7 software, it says "This version of iTunes (10.6.3) is the current version" and it tells me to press ok. Why is my phone not updating??

My phone says it is connected to itunes and beside the update button it says "a newer version of iphone software is available (version 7.0)...." but when I press 'update' a box pops up that says ""This version of iTunes (10.6.3) is the current version" and then I press okay and nothing else happens. I'm getting frustrated. if anyone can explain to me why I can't update please tell me! Or else I'll have to call up Apple I guess.

MBAM "Enterprise Compliance Report" not updating "Last Contact" date/time for any/all systems.

Running BitLocker/MBAM 1.0.1237.1.
About 1 month ago, "Last Contact" date/time listed in MBAM "Enterprise Compliance Report" stopped updating (last updated 1 month ago) for all systems. However, reporting against these exact same systems individually via
"Computer Compliance Report" shows current/correct "Last Contact" date/time (last updated today).
Have tried http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2620269/en-us but no luck.
Hoping someone has experienced this before, fixed, and can share insights.

You may want to look for communication errors under the MBAM node in Event Viewer.

Email on phone not updated when I log on via laptop internet

I have Gmail that I access at home on my laptop, then of course I have the same account on my phone. So earlier I was on my laptop and deleted some email that still appeared on my phone afterwards. Shouldn't it have been deleted from my phone too? Thanks.

Only if you went into your gmail settings and set the account as an imap account.
