Phone number given to another customer and i am be...

Hi, my land line number has been given to another customer who has moved house and wanted their old number to be given to their new property. When i log in online i can see they have made 50 phone calls so far and i am being charged £3.93 so far for this. I have called my land line number (which felt weird) and a lady answered who explained they had bought BT infinity 2 weeks ago and were given this number (whch is mine) They have complained to BT who keep calling her husband Steve Kimberley which is my name. He is a Steve by the way but i don't know his surname. I have tried 4 times on the instant chat thing to explain this but each time i al told give them 24hrs and they will sort this out. Nothing has happened so far, I can't use my land line as its been disconnected and they keep saying my line is active and in use. They put me through to the technical team twice and they just cut me off.... any help on this please?

Hi, this is the help so far?
and my response...its my phone number so why are BT accepting someone elses word for it? I am the account holder shouldnt they be contacting me?
Hi, what address is the number listed to? I live at xxxxxx. My phone line has no dial tone so i suspect it has been disconnected. Can you check this? What the mans name you spoke to? i have their mobile phone number xxxx perhaps call that and speak to his wife. They have told me that they ordered BT Infinity 2 weeks ago and wanted their old phone number transferring over and some how my number has been given to them instead. I am being charged for their phone calls which i will refuse to pay when the bill is generated at the end of the month. I also want a refund on the phone line rental as i have been unable to us the phone line. Please keep me updated. I have requested an engineer to visit as the Indian help line keep telling me its not their issue and get an engineer out to look at the line.
Will this be resolved by the engineer when he visits on Friday?

Same thing here. I love how they include this nice and easy to follow guide in the box and the KEY step for activation (the phone call) is a total fail. To verizon: the automated just says Terms and Conditions have been accepted for this number. Press 1 to enter another phone number in the order. Well, I HAD NO other phone number in my order. The message gives no other options. She repeats the same line 3 more times and after the 3rd time, it says please hold while we transfer you, call may be monitored etc. Guess what, its 2 am ET and customer service is closed?
Do you guys expect thousands of iphone customers to speak to a CSR just to activate? Why not just let us do it online? I have activated plenty of phones even LTE phones, online. Now I'm going to have to compete with the other 30,000 people who ran into this same problem overnight tomorrow on the phone....

They already have your number and/or email address and maybe have sold it several times already to others as well. They also use number generators - software that will automatically create them - some work and some don't, they don't care, they send out millions and a few will fall for it and send them money. The only way to "hide" would be to change both and your password, but then it would happen again at some point.

I've changed my account's country, address, and phone number because I've moved and my purchased apps (from previous country) does not appear anymore, how do I fix it?

That is the expected behavior. You will also no longer be alerted to any updates for that content.
If any of the content is sold in the new country's store and you find out through the grapevine about an update, you can update the content for free, but you will have to go through the steps for buying the update as a new purchase. Then the store will notice in the final steps that you own this content and update for free. It is the end of the road for any content from the previous country that is not sold in the current country's store. You will not be able to update the content in the new store.

  • Safari locks up on iMac - Safari is locked up with a message that says email account is temporarily suspended and phone number given.

I attempted to open a post on Facebook posted by a relative. The screen goes to http://www.applehelp.net and posts a pop-up saying the apple email is temporarily suspended due to suspicious activity on my computer and leaves an 844 phone number. I'm using Google Chrome right now but I prefer Safari. Has anyone found this in the past and what can I do to restore Safari?

Oh - thank you for posting - saved me a trip to the genius bar!!  Very easy fix!   I will stay away frtom certain websites from now on, and will only use Chrome or Firefox, something expendable.

  • Phone number held hostage?  Security and Privacy Risk

Let me preface this by saying I do not own an iPhone.
The previous owner of my phone number, however, was an iPhone user.  Apparently there is a way he could link the number to his Apple ID.   After getting rid of his phone, he never disassociated the number from his Apple ID.
The problem this creates is that now anyone who wants to text me from an iOS device is unable to do so without turning off the iMessage service.  Since my (his) number is registered to an Apple ID, my HTC appears to iMessage as another iOS device and thus texting never goes out to the cellular network... the previous owner is getting any text sent from an iMessage-enabled iPhone meant for me.
Effectively, Apple has created a situation where this person, or any person with an iOS device for that matter, can knowingly or unknowingly manage to hold a celluar number hostage from a texting perspective, creating a security and privacy risk.
Has anyone run into this before and if so what is the recourse?  There has to be some was for Apple to dissociate a number no longer used by a previous user.

Unfortunately, I don't have an iPhone or a support contract so Applecare won't even talk to me without me ponying up $19.  I see no sense in having to pay for a problem I didn't create.

  • Phone number given

Why is it that I was given a phone number that's not from my area code and that I wasn't even asked about it when I made the purchase at the store?!
    (iPhone 5 ATT 16GB)

Does it really matter that much these days? There is virtually no such thing as a charge for long distance any more. Heck, I couldn't even tell you my wife's phone number... It's all stored in the phone. My son lives in New York and still has a Cleveland phone number. Why should he bother changing it.
You probably should have said something before you signed the contract when you bought the phone. You would think you'd notice something like your phone number after all...

  • I unregistered my phone number with my apple id and now i need to register it back

I went from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung Galaxy s4.  When I made the switch I was unable to receive text messages from iPhone users, so I "unregistered" my phone number from my apple id.  I also called tech support and they had to remove the license from the phone number.  I was still unable to receive messages from iPhone users, so I caved and ended up switching back to Apple products and bought an iPhone 5.  I can't figure out how to register my phone number and device with my apple id.  Can someone help?  Thanks!!!

  • When a contact gets a new phone number, I delete the old and enter the new.  Then when I text or call the old number shows up as a selection yet it's no longer under the contacts info.

When a contact gets a new phone number, I delete the old number and enter the new number.  When I try to text or call, both the old a new numbers. One up as a selection choice, even though the old number is gone from the contact.

That's normal behavior as the old one will remain in the memory cache for a while until it's eventually overwritten.  If it's particularly bothersome to you, you can restore your phone as NEW and this will empty the cache.

  • IMessage waiting for activation. Phone number not listed in Send and Receive at?

I'm going to try to be as descriptive as possible, as I'm not too sure what else I can possibly do to resolve this issue.
3 or 4 days ago I requested a number change through my provider. Not knowing that I had to turn off iMessage whilst waiting for the change to occur, I left it on.
Later that day my friends were complaining that I was sending them texts from two different numbers, one being my new number, one being my old number. The thing is, I'm using the exact same SIM card and it's a little unusual to have two numbers for one SIM. I then realised that iMessage is ONLY registering my iTunes e-mail address and OLD phone number as an option to 'Send and Receive at'. I have spoken to Optus (my provider in Aust.) and Apple, I have gone into an Apple store, had the phone replaced, restored newtwork settings, restored phone altogether, turned on/off iMessage and Facetime, checked date and time, made sure my correct number is listed in Settings > Phone, etc etc etc I've done EVERYTHING listed in all forums that I've read from people experiencing this same issue.
I can choose to select my old phone number in iMessage, and can then send messages to others using iMessage from the old number, and if I switch it off, I'm then using SMS to send messages, and it's from my new number again! It's very frustrating not having all features on my phone working correctly.
If I switch iMessages and Facetime on, not using my Apple ID to sign in, it simply says 'waiting for activation' and after a few hours, tells me it was unsucessful and to try again. I'm all out of options now, Optus don't know what to do, Apple don't know what to do and I don't know what else to do! It's been 4 days! Someone please help!?

Just thought I'd let everybody know how it finally got resolved 1 week later!
After trying absolutely everything, and I mean EVERYTHING that Apple support, apple forums etc told me to do, the only thing that worked was turning iMessage off, waiting for at least 24 hours at then turning iMessage back on.
It activated itself within a few minutes, no dramas at all!
    Hope this helps!

  • Can i maintain a same number for both the customer and vendor

    Hi all,
i have a scenario, as a vendor is supplying some assembly  components to the client. the client is assembling the components. and sending the same to the vendor
since the same person is acting as a vendor and a customer i want a common number for both the vendor and customer in their master data's.
    Thanks
    KV

It's not mandatory to use the same ID for vendor and customer if they are the same entity, you can use different IDs w/o any problem.
It might be difficult, if you are using internal number assignment. It may occur that the ID is already occupied by a vendor or customer.
You can link your customer to your vendor both in XK01/XK02 (LFA1-KUNNR; control tab) and XD01/XD02 (KNA1-LIFNR; "Control Data" tab). One assignment is enough.
In this case you can always see, which customer belongs to which vendor.
Sometimes plant vendors, customers are defined via external number assignment, to have the same ID as the plant, but this should be decided in advance...(separate account group is used generally, with separate number range)

  • How do I get my imessage to recognize my phone number, it currently is gray and cannot be selected

So my phone, iPhone 4S  randomly stopped recognizing my phone number as a possible option to receive messages. I have reset my phone, turned it on and off, completely restored it, and it still only allows me to select my email as an option. Please don't tell me to go to messages>send and receive>select phone number, I'm well aware of that and it does not work. Please help.

Try turning iMessage off and back on.

  • How do I edit the phone number associated with my iCloud and iMessage account.

    Hi All,
I recently synced my moms phone onto my MacBook and this has effected my iCloud,Facetime and iMessage accounts on my Mac,iPad and iPhone.  When I look at preferences on iMessage and facetime, it lists my moms phone number, how can I edit that phone number to be mine ? We are both on the same iTunes account.

  • How can i update the phone number associated with my iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air?

I recently moved to the US from Canada and have a new US #.  I have updated the phone number on my apple ID but the iMessage and FaceTime on my macbook air are still connected to my old Canadian phone number.  How can I update this?  Thanks so much!

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

    M4r - which is MP4 and no - not without a hack.
Is it possible to "bluetooth" phone number from old cell phone to the Iphone?
No - the iPhone does not support Bluetooth data transfer. All data syncing is done with a USB connection with your computer via iTunes.
