Phone Number Tapping in Calendar

So why is there not a feature that allows me tap a phone number in the calendar to call it? For instance I set a reminder "Call John 323-555-5555" - the alert pops up and then I just tap the number from there.
That's kind of annoying that I can't do that.

It should be a feature, but isn't. It works for mail, but not calendar. Asking here, however, is fruitless, as this is a user forum, not a way of communicating with Apple. Submit a enhancement request to Apple. The link is at the top of every discussion board.

  • Dialing a Phone Number in a Calendar Entry

I give myself reminders in my calendar to call this person or that business; however, I am surprised that when I enter the phone number in the calendar event (I happen to sync up with Google Calendar) I cannot tap on said phone number to begin a phone call. Is this truly a limitation or am I doing something wrong?

I will give Apple no excuse whatsoever on this point. Firstly, my Blackberry phones (2 curves and a bold) allowed me to dial from the location field with no problem at all. Others in the organizations I work with invite me to meetings and put dial info in the location field. This is an essential feature that Apple failed on before, and failed again in iOS4. Don't tell me its the carrier, or MS or anything else that Apple can't control. Other phones can do this simple thing. Apple can also. But they have chosen not to. Secondly, dialing the conference line, pauses, meeting ID numbers, etc in a SINGLE STRING from within a calendar notes area, or any other field is again, an essential smart phone feature that people like me are frustrated about. It worked beautifully on my BB phones. The new iOS4 greatly improved the DTMF tones. And the single string thing works in favorites and in contacts. But not in Calendar. Apple - fix these things please!

  • I deregistered my phone number from imessage but am still not receiving texts on my android phone

I went the the deregistration process. This improved the annoyance but is still not fully resolved. I still am not getting texts in certain group message settings. The problem seems to be in group texts where everyone else is using imessage except me.

    Hello Laurie33,
This can be accomplished by deactivating iMessage.
To deregister your phone number, tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.
If you can't deactivate iMessage after you perform the steps above or you can't access the iPhone, please contact Apple Support.

  • On an iphone 4s, when I tap the phone number in my contacts list instead of calling the number it goes to a "Welcome to mail screen" how do I make it call the number instead?

On an iphone 4s, when I tap the phone number in my contacts list instead of calling the number it goes to a "Welcome to mail" screen with icloud, Microsoft exchange, Gmail, Yahoo, Aol & Windows Live Hotmail listed beneath. How do I make it call the number instead?

Never heard of that.  I suspect it thinks that's an email address and you're seeing that screen b/c you don't have an email account setup on your iPhone.
Assuming the number is valid, try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Iphone 3g: Clicking phone number in calendar doesn't work

Clicking on phone number in email will prompt for calling the number but the same doesn't work in calendar. Is it a known issue ?

Adding my agreement to this issue. Since iPhone recognizes phone numbers everywhere else, it's very disappointing that it doesn't work in calendar. This is probably the most important place for phone number recognition. considering there is no cut/paste feature, this means I have to write down the number on paper and the manually enter into the keypad, very inconvenient!
When this is addressed, it will be very important to include recognition of additional numbers and characters used for conference calls, like the blackberry has done for years.

  • My phone number is 00000000000, receiving no tap to pay link neither

HI all, Dropped my S5 down the toilet, so bought a S6 edge to replace it. Did that, got a new sim (needed NFC and nano sized), but my number is showing up as 0000000000 in the status screen. I think this may be related to why i am not getting any links to register the tap to pay service on my phone (supposed to be within 2 hours), so far, it's a little under 2 days. Phone EE today and the young lad tried to help.He said go into ti and change it (i can't), I asked him to reset my network settings but i got the feeling he got bored and said go to the general settings and find reset network there. I know the android settings pretty well and knew only too well that option is not there. Anyway for me to get this working. I am hoping the 2 problems (phone number 00000000000 and Tap to pay service not sending app) is related. Cheers all, Stuart

I personally believe this is all down the the SIM card.
When you update your account with a new SIM, the network has to send a SIM update. This tells the SIM what features you can use on your account and also on some phones; displays the phone number.
Because your SIM is currently set to 00000000000, the SIM will not tell the network to send you the Tap to Pay service links because this is 1. A invalid UK mobile number and 2. Your SIM has not been updated to allow it to register for the Tap to Pay service.
I'm confident once your SIM has been updated with a SIM update, everything will begin working fine.

  • In the calendar app, is it possible to link directly to a phone number or address? This function exists in my Palm phone.

Is it possible within the native iPhone calendar app to link an appointment directly with a phone number or address or person?  This function existed in the software on my 3 previous Palm phones.

No, it isn't possible.  It would be nice but it would be very tricky to do since usually the files themselves also hold the data and can only hold it for one album at a time without changing a widely used standard for audio track tagging.  Frankly, I suspect the space savings would not be all that great.

  • When I access my contacts and tap on the phone number to call ..... the call immediately drops.... is there a setting set incorrectly?

when I access the contacts and tap on the phone number to call the call immediaely drops...... is there a setting that is not set correctly?

No setting would cause that.  Try resetting your phone (hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release).

  • E7 calendar and phone number

I useally put contact name phone number to calendar notes. In e7 number it can be putted at description field, but there is no direct method to call to that number. only options is to copy and paste number.
wish list: phone number  and location to calendar.  (location =  starting MAP application, when selected)

The items/data are stored on the iPod and can be accessed w/o wifi. Finding a wifi spot depends upon where you are.  Starbucks and I think McDonolds have free wifi.  Most uses have wifi at home.

  • Trying to call a contact by tapping phone number, but keeps sending me to message screen

I'm trying to make a phone call to a contact by tapping phone number, but keeps sending me to message screen.  How do I call a contact without emailing them?

    Try do a hard reset.

  • Store and call phone number in calendar

I use a program called Agenda One which I can enter a 10 digit telephone number and can then go back at any time highlight the number and call. I do not have to cut and paste the phone number to call. Its very simple and I am hoping for a similar program or application.

If you store the phone number in the Notes field of a calendar entry on the iPhone, you can touch it to dial it.

  • IPhone Calendar Problem and Phone Number Problem

I bought the iPod 16 GB on Friday. I immediately upgraded the O/S.
I tried synching with my Outlook 2003. Here are the issues:
    1. Not all phone numbers came over - I have friends with a Work Phone, Work Fax, Work Mobile, Personal Mobile, Home. It didn't bring over their Personal Mobile.
    2. Phone Numbers that were formated like this (416) 555-1212 - ext. 8040 got changed on the iPhone like this 4165551212ext8040
    3. Calendar entries were off despite I had the correct date/time. For example I had an appointment from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (EST) and it changed it to 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

#2, check Settings > General > International > Region Format and make sure it's set the the US (I'm making that assumption based on your preferred phone number format).
#3, check Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Time Zone Support and make sure that's set correctly.
    Not sure on #1.

  • Can't click to call phone number in Calendar subject

can't click to call phone number was input in iPhone 5S calendar subject, but work in notes field. any idea?

I also can click to call numbers in email, and the numbers pasted into iCal's notes field are recognized (gray box when clicked) but they don't call.
On your suggestion I created a number in the notes field - it called.  But until recently numbers pasted into the field as part of a document worked, too.
I'd rebooted my phone, but I tried the reset, too.  Unfortunately it didn't help.  Strangeness...
Thanks for the suggestion and troubleshooting ideas, anyway!

  • Why won't a contacts phone number appear in a new event added in calendar?

I'm new to using the Apple Calendar to list new events added. Previously, I used Microsoft Outlook 2010 for my business needs on my old PC and that worked perfectly for adding new jobs. Recently I made the change to a 27" iMac running Yosemite (which I love) and I purchased MS Office 365 for all of my business templates and approximately 1,000 customers. The MS Outlook program is having a lot of trouble syncing to the Apple Calendar which wasn't a problem on my old PC. So, I thought that I could just use the suite of programs included with my new iMac instead of Outlook. Unfortunately, when adding a new event and add a customer as a location, it will only list their address and not their phone number which is something that I must have. I understand that I will have the contacts listed with me always, but I don't want to have to switch between programs to pull up the listed contacts #. If this is not available then I fear that I will have to revert back to MS Outlook and just figure out what is preventing it from properly syncing with Calendar. I use the Calendar app on both my iPhone 5 and my iPad Air religiously so in the end it all comes back to Calendar.

Would you prefer that I request this post be moved into the Mac OS & System Software > Yosemite support community where you are likely to receive considerably more visibility and support to your email problem?
This current location is not heavily visited because it is for AppleWorks, the long since discontinued Apple Office productivity package.

  • TS4337 How do I alter Calendar's Phone Number Format?

On earlier versions of iCal I could set the format for phone numbers. With Calendar 6.0 I don't seem to be able to do this. Is there some way this can be accomplished?
