Phone number won't verify for iMessage after 5.1 Upgrade

Anyone have any solution yet? I have tried hard resets and still nothing. Under the iMessage slider it say Waiting for Activation and clicking through the "receive at" button it says "Verifying" next to my phone number. People are able to receive iMessages from my email though? Strange. Any help is appreciated!!

i cannot select my phone number in my appleID for imessages, and i dont know why! its there but will only let me pick my email address. and when i try and change the phone numbers in my appleID settings, it says i have invalid phone number, when i KNOW it is valid.

Phone number missing on iPad or iPod touch
If your phone number isn't listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow these steps:
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Verify that you're using the same Apple ID that you're using on your iPhone.
On your iPad or iPod touch, sign out of your Apple ID in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Sign in to your Apple ID with FaceTime and iMessage.
If your phone number still isn't listed, follow these steps:
Sign out of your Apple ID on all iOS devices, including your iPhone, in the following locations:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

Using more than one phone number on single iPhone for iMessage?

Is it possible to intentionally have more than one phone number listed under Settings > Messages > Send & Receive? I know I've heard of 'glitches' where more than one phone number is shown accidentally and how that is solved (signing out of iMessage and then back in), but if you want to intentionally have more than one phone number listed there (say, the phone number of your own device and also the phone number of your work-related iPhone), is there a method? I'm leaning toward the answer of 'no', but I'm wanting to double check.

I have a macbook air and whenever i try messaging my daughter's phone who has an iphone 5, it ends up in coming back to my mac. So that means my mac is using her phone number as imessage. You are doing all of the right things. Just keep trying. I never owned an iPhone until last week, and I was having fits getting my phone number to appear in my settings. I signed out of Messages and FaceTime on my iPhone and my iPad and just kept trying the whole cycle over and over until it worked. It took about 4 or 5 tries before it finally worked.
Sign out of both apps on the phone and the iPad, then start with the phone and sign in again on that device first, then try on the iPad again

What shows under Settings>Messages>Send & Receive>Start new conversations from? Is your number ticked rather than your email address?

You can take a look at this support document for troubleshooting iMessage and FaceTime activation. If you have difficulty activating FaceTime or iMessage - Apple Support
I believe with the iPhone, you need to have a SIM installed, since the activation sends an international SMS to servers in the UK. Check to see what that support document states.

Why has my iPad stopped using my phone number to send and rec iMessages?

A few problems since IOS 7 came out. I updated my phone to this miserable IOS7 and now my ipad will not send or receive texts on my ipad. I also do not have the option of putting the phone number in when it was there before. What happened?
I also can not text my sister after she switched back to android from iphone. My phone keeps defaulting to imessage. My ipad will not text her at all. (but that may be a thing about imessage not liking texting.) Which brings up what good is imessage if it will not send a text to someone? All my other devices, blackberry, samsung etc text between themselves regardless. Apple should allow imessage to realize it is not an apple phone and text to it.
So, what is the deal?

I have the ipad, Iphone, and a mac mini. I am confused as to why my phone number is not showing up in imessage and facetime on my mac mini and ipad. I had it set up but for some reason it is not working now, it just shows my apple sign in email address. How can I fix this?

TS4268 cant link my phone number on new ipad for messages

Hi, I have just purchased a new ipad mini and set up, as per instructions, however on the first set up i chose "set up as new" rather than back up from my iphone 4/itunes..... the reason for this is that my harddrive on my pc crashed at xmas and have lost everything for the time being, including itunes etc....
anyway, everything worked ok with the new ipad, but none of my apps synced (i am guessing due to the fact my phone was not linked to icloud at the time?) and what ever i try, i cannot get my phone number to display on the ipad for tex messages/imessages & facetime etc, it only displays my email address associated with my apple id.
no matter how many times i have signed out on all devices & signed back in, it doesn't change??
can anyone help with this please?
