Phone plug doesn't go in all the way.
Phone plug stops before engaging all the way in. Was fine for 1 year and suddenly stopped working. Probed with tooth pick and seems to be free on any debris in hole.
Oh my gosh thank you! I didn't wanna apply too much force in fear of breaking a brand new iPod, but I was seriously about to throw it at a wall the next time the plug came out. You're a life saver.

Headphone plug doesn't go in all the way
when i try to plug in the earbuds that came with my new ipod (4G, 8GB) into the headphone jack, the plug doesn't go in all the way and only goes in about halfway. i can hear music but whenever i play a song and drop my ipod in my pocket, the slightest movement causes the plug to move and pause the music. its really annoying and happens everytime. is this an abnormality with my ipod or are all ipod 4Gs like this?

So my late 2012 MacBook Pro was sitting on my desk when the desk collapsed. The computer fell with it and I was quite scared at the moment, but thankfully I opened it up and it worked perfectly fine again.
I was later watching a YouTube video and pressed the back button. The screen then froze, and I could not force quit safari. Then this weird clicking noise started to happen. It was coming from the right of the trackpad. That's when I decided to force shutdown the computer with the power button.
I let it sit and then decided to turn it back on. The clicking noise then came back and there was just a blank screen on the boot up. Eventually a grey folder with a question mark started flashing on the screen. That was all it did so I decided to turn it off again.
I'm going to take it into the Apple store ASAP, but I'm curious if my hard drive is damaged and if I will need a new one, which would erase everything on my Mac. So I was wondering if there is anyway to back up the hard driver even if it doesn't boot up all the way, or turn on the computer all the way.
P.S. I have never backed up my hard drive so I wouldn't know what to do.You may have damaged the HDD which is located in that spot. I would take it in for service.

MacBook pro keyboard doesn't light up all the way, I don't know why and I was wondering how much it could cost for repairs.
If there is Warranty or AppleCare it will be covered at Apple Store. If no coverage, Apple does not repair iPhone 4 Power/Lock Button, for $149 they will give you a perfect replacement iPhone 4 exactly like yours with a 90 day Warranty. For the time being or as a permanent solution you can use perfect Virtual Lock Button. Tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap the new small white screen button > Device > Lock. You can even use this button to turn the iPhone OFF. To turn iPhone ON, connect to power, ie charger or USB port of computer.

My iPhone 4 vibrate button doesn't go down all the way, could I get that fixed?
If it is defective and still under warranty then they wil replace the iphone for free.
If it is not under warranty then you can buy an out of warranty replacement. In the U.S that would cost $149 -
I just got a new I Phone 4S and my volume is all the way up but the other person sounds far and i could bearly hear them. i checked all settings and they are all up as high as they can go. This is my first I Phone and don't know if this is normal for this phone
Hi Flex,
Congrats on the first iPhone. This is not normal. First check if moving the volume up or down either way has any impact on the sound. Then see what happens while on speakerphone. If you can hear ok on speakerphone, and there's no change from the regular earpiece with the volume changing, check with the carrier you received it from or the Apple store you purchased from. They will have other things to look at for you. -
Ear phone jack won't go in all the way
My earphone jack won't go in all the way. I've tried cleaning the hole with compressed air, and a Q-tip with rubbing alchol. Nothing seems to be working. Plus, my ipod is showing the headphones are plugged in, so I can't even listen to anything with the speakers.
Try looking inside the jack It appears something is stuck inside. Look at your headphones plugs. Maybe the tip broke off.
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store before try the below since you may cause further damage

Window doesn't open window all the way using "+" sign
I made the switch from Windows to Mac a few years back and besides not having a HDD activity light, the biggest pet peeve I have about Apple's OS's is that they don't allow you to click on the "+" sign in the upper left hand corner of an open window to get the window to open fully or maybe it's a trick that I haven't been taught. I works when you use it while using "TextEdit" but not on other applications that I've used. They added that feature to Safari for Windows so I'm sure that it would be no problem to insert that line of code in Leopard or Tiger that would take care of that. It would be moot point to ask Apple why so my question is, does anyone know of a 3rd party app. that does that job for you? The only reason I'm asking is because it's a real time saver for me and I'm sure for a lot of others.
firstmacnewbie,
I'll explain the issue, even though it doesn't help you. You see, Windows does a few things as a result of historic deficiencies that it has had. Just so we're clear, these deficiencies are no longer present in modern versions of Windows, but Windows users are accustomed to the little quirks that accompany them- all of which still exist in Windows- nonetheless.
Most of these issues relate to Windows' historic lack of multi-tasking. In your case, you are used to the behaviors of a machine and OS that will only display one window at a time, one application at a time (again, this is historically, but the tendencies still exist). When Windows would only display one application window, users got into the habit of viewing and using only one thing at a time.
Another glaring difference that springs from the same historic lack of multi-tasking is the use of "cut and paste" for file system objects. Because Windows would only display one "snapshot" of the file system, in one window, some "workaround" had to be invented to allow users to move files from one place to another. Thus "cut and paste." Because the Mac OS has almost always been able to display multiple windows, and has almost always had drag and drop functionality, user were able to simply drag files from one place to another. No "cut and paste" was needed. Keep in mind that "cut and paste" is an abstract concept, not related to reality, while drag and drop is very much intuitive and realistic (when you want to move a real object somewhere, you cannot simply toss it up in the air, trusting that it will stay in some abstract "ether" until its destination is convenient. No, you must physically move it from the first place to the second, holding it in the meantime).
Getting back to your specific issue: You would be better served by getting used to the way things are in Mac OS, which is designed around the concept of having and using multiple open windows. This precludes opening windows up beyond their reasonable usefulness. This is especially true with today's modern displays, which sport high resolutions and large amounts of Desktop "real estate." I actually have my Safari window opened up a little beyond what is necessary to display any and all web pages, and it still consumes not much more than half of my display. Why would I want to open it more (it wouldn't show any more of any web page), hampering my ability to access either the Finder or some other application? Why would you? Again, you would be better served by "unlearning" your Windows habits.

Hi all,
I plugged in my phone, went to my computer, iphone, storage, and deleted photos from there. But in my phones photostream, they are still there. Why is that?
CheersHi Isaacprobert,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you still have photos in Photostream. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Iphone 5s doesn't start up all the way... HELP
My 5s shows the usual apple logo at startup but then goes straight to a black screen. the phone doesn't vibrate like its supposed to when you just turn it on. it just goes to a black screen and does nothing. I dont get any notifications or anything. plugged it into my PC and my itunes said it was recovery mode so i did the restore option and as the software is being verified by apple, my phone turns itself off and the restore fails. i have no money so i cant send my phone in to get fixed by apple because my screen is also cracked. i thought it was an lcd issue but then i would still be getting notifications so i know it has to be a software problem that isnt allowing ios to function correctly. is there anything i can do to reset my ios? i erased the phone and took it off my icloud btw and since im not sending it in, i'm not afraid of opening up and working on it myself.
Do not open the phone up yourself. If you do, you will never get any support from Apple if you need it. I would guess that you dropped your phone, which caused the screen to crack and clearly it was more injurious to the phone than just a cracked screen. You really don't have any real cost free solutions available. You can take your phone to Apple and pay for a new screen and hopefully they'll be able to get it up and running again. A screen replacement from Apple on a 5s costs $129.

Startup Disk Doesn't Shut Down All The Way (restart required)
Is anyone experiencing problems using the Startup Disk in System Preferences?
95% of the time all my system does is close all applications, including the Finder, and then pause with my desktop picture, no mouse and no choice to try anything. I have to press and hold the power button to restart and when it does it doesn't start on the disk I asked for...
When it works it works as it should, but mostly it doesn't at all. Any ideas?inknpaper wrote:
Leopard should be a more efficient operating system than Tiger and thus everything should work slightly faster, if not a lot faster.
In every version of OS X, improved speed is largely the result of caching more data. Hopefully, it is obvious that creating the caches initially takes substantial time, & that updating them may also do so if there have been substantial changes to what should be cached.
This could be done on the 'back end' before shutdown, on the 'front end' after restart occurs, or with a combination of both techniques. From what I can tell, Tiger uses mostly the 'front end' approach, which makes for quick shutdowns but sometimes long startup times. Leopard seems to favor the reverse, doing what cache housekeeping it can before shutting down.
For me, this usually results in quicker overall restart times with Leopard, especially after doing anything that requires much cache maintenance. I guess your mileage may vary.... -

You may have to open Mail, go to the upper left corner of the screen and click on the word Mail, open Preferences, click on Accounts, and make sure your Gmail account is still fully set up properly with all proper account and incoming and outgoing Mail Servers properly completed. When you added iCloud capability it may have upset the account settings for Gmail.
Hope this helps -

Like it says, I go to my bookmark for Chase Financial and it opens up inside the blank tab as a separate window on the left side. This is the only website that does this so it has me perplexed.
It is the default action in Firefox to open a new window with the home page(s).
A possibility to avoid that is a bookmarks (e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar) with the location set to about:blank and use Shift + left-click to open a blank window or set the Home page to about:blank and use a bookmark to open the home page.
