Phone radio drops out of service for several minutes multiple times a day

I have the Droid Razr Maxx as does my wife. I've had to go through the warranty process several times (due to a headphone and a power issue) and I have one of these refurbished "like-new" (ha!) phones.
I finally got a phone that seemed to work top to bottom. But I noticed after the phone has been on a few hours that my phone connection would drop completely. It would go from 3-4 bars of 4g to no signal and sometimes it would stay at no signal for 5-10 minutes until it found the phone connection and then slowly started the data connection. The only way of resetting this process more quickly was a complete reboot. I have tried to do a couple tweaks (setting it to LTE/CDMA only or using LTEOnOff to go 3g only but the problem persists.
The thing is, my wife has the same phone in the same configuration and has none of these issues, even though our phones are usually within a few meters of each other constantly.
If this can be fixed without sending it back, that would be great. I've dealt with four different Razr Maxx's over the past two months and while they've all had different problems, they never had this one. Going through the frustrating process of going to a store and convincing someone that I'm having a problem (especially one like this) is not something I look forward to. Getting on the phone with someone who just says to restart it every time I have this issue if it fixes it (restarting every 4 hours, are you kidding me?) is unacceptable.

    Hello thelance,
Yikes! It is never good to have a fluctuating signal on your device. I understand how aggravating it can be to have to restart your device every so often. Often times, devices will drop the connection and automatically regain connection within a few minutes. The best way to resolve this issue would be re-power your device once a day. Also, please remove the SIM card and re-insert. Once this is completed you should notice a steadier data connection.
If you are still having issues with the fluctuating service, please let us know. Have a great weekend!

  • Ipad air "out of service for 60 minutes"

my ipad air sent a message today that it would be out of service for 60 minutes today and it was. Was this legitimate from Apple or some sort of virus or hack?

    Sent a message to whom?
There are no viruses that affect a device running iOS.

  • XOrg is maxxing out my CPU for several minutes after start [UNSOLVED]

Since the last update, XOrg has been using 99% of my CPU power for about three minutes after it is started. This happens whether I am using Slim, console login, whatever; I checked with top and it is definitely X that is using up the CPU power. This happens on Debian as well as Arch.

So I reenabled "glx" and "DRI" and everything seems just fine.  I believe the culprit in my case was simply the "NoAccel" flag being false by default.
This is now what my xorg.conf looks like:

  • I have been having a lot of problems since downloading the IOS7 on my iPad whereby it freezes for several minutes.  Can anyone help me or is there something I should be doing right away when this happens?

I have been having lots of problems with my iPad 2 freezing since I downloaded the IOS7.  It freezes for several minutes each time this happens.  Is there something you can suggest that I do to eliminate this problem in the future?

First thing to try is a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

I have attempted all the regular trouble shoots such as resets, complete restore and reinstallation of ios 8. no change.

I don't have an answer for you but from my experience iOS WiFi syncing has always been a hit and miss affair (more miss than hit I'm afraid). I have gotten to the stage where I rarely use the WiFi sync. It is just quicker, easier and much less stressful to use the USB cable. I am having the same issues with all the iOS devices in our family which includes various models of iPhone, iPad and an iPod Touch and have been having them since WiFi syncing was introduced (in iOS5 ???). And then I have not even mentioned my favorite iTunes syncing messages: "Waiting for items to copy" and "Waiting for changes to be applied"!
iTunes is always extremely quick and eager to pick up the devices but as soon as I click on sync it shows "Looking for iDevice" and then the device disappears. I have found that initiating the sync from the Settings app on the device prevents this issue.
It does however seem as if it is worse with Windows 7. I did not have so many issues with my previous Windows Vista PC.
Sorry I cannot be of any help.

Bought Premier Elements 13 yesterday. EVERY time I try to open a set of clips with Editor, I am told I have to sign into my Adobe first. I do this and wait for several minutes for the password dialogue box to open, enter my password. then wait and wait until my pw is recognized. Accept agreement. Agreement screen disappears and I'm back where I started. Try to open video clips with editor again and get the same demand to log in. Please advise asap. thx

Please do not duplicate a thread. The threads are answered as soon as possible. We are not Adobe. Just user to user.
I have answered your most recent of the duplicates
Premier Elements 13 Organizer Works. Editor doesn't. Log in doesn't work
It is uncertain just how far we can go to help you since you do not appear to have Premiere Elements any
longer.Seems you demanded a refund from Adobe Chat, got it, and now are left with a non purchased program which I
am not sure can be used.
Duplicates tend to confuse the person asking the question as well as those attempting to reply. As I suggested in the
above mentioned thread, try to sort out your situation with Adobe via its Adobe Chat.

  • Spinning wheel stays on for several minutes at a time, can't connect to app store

Hi I have an imac, about two years old. It has recently started freezing constantly, can't connect to the app store and the rainbow spinning wheel stays up for several minutes at a time regardless of what apps are open or what I'm trying to do. Safari will work for a minute or two then will say it can't connect, I then have to quit the app then open it back up to have it fail again shortly after. I've cleared out my cache, started it in safe mode, done the disk repair through disk utility, done virus scans and nothing has helped. It started doing it suddenly - fine one day then not the next -  but I haven't put any new apps on or made any changes I can think of that might be the cause. Can anyone help?

One possibility is that your hard drive is failing. If you don't have backups of any data you don't want to lose, that needs to be your number one priority. Get that data backed up. Once you have done that, you can start exploring options.
Open Disk Utility, select your hard drive and take a look at the SMART status:
If it says anything other than Verified, the drive is definitely failing. If it says Verified, all that means is that it isn't failing in a way that the drive can detect.

  • Getting increasingly frequent system shutdown with appearance of the apple splash screen for several minutes then back to logon in the middle of using a variety of APPs or just walking on Safari.

Using an IPAD 2 running 5.0.1 is frequently shutting down in the middle of a variety of Apps and showing the Apple splash screen for several minutes. This happens occasionally at inopportune times. Once the splash screen clears it goes back to the logon screen and the App that was open is closed. Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a resolution?

    RockHunter wrote:

I don't think that there is ever a good time for this to occur.
What do you mean the Apple splash screen? You see the Apple logo on the screen?
It appears as though your apps are crashing. Have you tried quitting apps and restarting? Reset the iPad?
Quit all apps and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My laptop locked after I don't use it for several minutes.

    Hi everyone,
I have a really troublesome problem.
My laptop is locked after I don't use it for several minutes.
When I say locked, I mean it turns to where shows my account name and below it says locked.
At first, I think it is cause by the Auto-lock .cuz I am really annoyed by it, I uninstalled it.
However it still does not work.
Could anyone tell me what the problem is on earth?
Perhaps it is just because I am really not familiar with my new laptop.
    Solved!

That's a power setting that determines how long before it enters the screen saver, sleep more, or even hibernation mode. You can change either the requirement of a password (somewhere in the screen saver section of Windows) or the duration before it enters those modes (you should be able to set that with the Lenovo Power Center thing). Of course, doing either is a security risk, but that's up to you as to how much security or comfort you want.

  • Why does every change I make to my iTunes library completely freeze my computer for several minutes??

I am running a clean up program on my computer (Tuneup Media).  Everything runs smooth until I try to apply the changes.  After the songs with new tags save to library Itunes runs 100% of CPU and freezes for several minutes.  After several minutes, it goes back to normal and I fix more song tags and it all starts over again...  Is there something I can disable to prevent this?  HELP!!!

I am experiencing similar freeze with each change to the iTunes library (example: Song's Tag Info).

  • After Thunderbird opens, it is unresponsive. can't open an email for several minutes, etc. Will someone please get in touch - online advice is beyond me.

I am using Windows 7 on a desktop pc.
I can download email just fine. But then I can't open or delete a message or do anything else for several minutes. Meanwhile, I see at the top of my screen that Thunderbird is not responding. This happens whether I am connected to the internet or disconnected.
I sometimes get a message that a script on this page is busy or not responding. The scrips have been
    "Script:chrome://messenger/content/mailWindow.js:179" and "Script:chrome....js:173" and "Script:resource"//gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:323"
I have also gotten messages that say the problem signature is AppHangB1, followed by a long list of detailed data.

    Perhaps this

    would help?

  • Why does my OS X 10.6.8 have various applications hang for several minutes, then resume. This is not a startup problem.

I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.8 a few weeks ago. It seemed to be running OK, so we upgraded another system also. Now both machine are, from time to time, stalling whatever application is running. Everything stops or runs veeeeeeerrrrrry slowly for several minutes even including bringing other windows to the front. The disk runs almost like it is swapping a lot. Then the system frees up and runs normally for a while. This is not a startup problem. I occurrs on systems that have been running for a day or two or more. It happens on an iMac and on a MacBookPro. Neither of them had this behavior before the 10.6.8 upgrade.

What do you mean with corrupt?
Why did you suggest that I created a new profile?
There are cache files and other system files that are created every time a user account is created.  Sometimes these are corrupted in the OS and it really has no bearing on the specific application but it can lead to erratic behavior.  Creating a new user recreates all these system files and thus it's almost like starting fresh.  It's one step shy of re-installation of an OS.  So because changing the user fixed the issue, then we have eliminated the fact that the application is causing the error and we know the OS is causing the error.
I can't just go in to that profile when I want to use?
I wouldn't recommend it.  This can lead to more problems with the OS down the road with other applications and depending on where the corruption lies it can lead to issues with OS upgrades or even installing new software.  The files that are typically most critical to users are stored in the Applications folder or the Documents/Sites/Pictures folders.  You can easily drag them over to a new user account.  If you have email being backed up for a product like Thunderbird you can also bring over many of the Library items as well.
