Phone saying sim not allowed

hi , my phone regularily says 'sim not allowed' the network shows sos, and then it has to be restarted and it happens at least 10 times a day . any ideas what to do?

Sounds like your phone was software unlocked, or hacked/jailbroken, to work with any carrier. Updating the phone restored the original carrier lock. All you can do now is contact the carrier it is locked to and see if they have an unlocking policy.

My wife and I both have T707 phones that will give an error message that says SIM NOT ALLOWED MM #3 at random times. It seems I have to turn the phone off and then back on to make a call even when I am some place where there is T- Mobile 3G coverage. What's up with that?

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

There is no such thing as an "unlock code" for an iPhone. If someone sold you one you have been scammed. iPhones are unlocked by the carrier the phone is locked to updating the master iPhone database maintained by Apple.

SIM not allowed

My BB9000 works fine for the most part, but sometimes I get a "SIM not allowed" on the screen and my signal strength meter says "SOS" (meaning I cannot make or recieve calls). This somewhat annoying as I usually have to re-boot the phone to get it back to normal.
1. Why does this happen?
2. Is there a setting that I can switch in the phone that will prevent this from happening?
3. Is there another way to reset this without having to re-boot?

Hi Pete you need to change the sim card, go to your carrier store and change for a new sim card.
To reboot the device you can press at the same time the ALT key, the right aA key, and the DEL key

There are three possibilities:
1. Your phone is locked to a different carrier and will not work with any SIM card except those from that carrier.
2. Your new card is from a carrier not supported by the iPhone.
3. Your new SIM card is defective.
In order to determine which is the right answer you could try a different sim from the same carrier or try your new card on a different iPhone. Also check to make sure your new carrier is a supported carrier.

It was bought from apple unlocked. No carrier's logo or name at all on the box... It turns on, I connect it to iTunes. It even asks me if I want to update for ions 5.0.1 something like this, but still in the main screen for iTunes it says:

Sorry, you can't. If your phone is carrier locked, you will need a sim card from that carrier, to activate it.

Because you're trying to use a sim card from a carrier other than the carrier your phone is locked to. That's why. To use different sims, from different carriers, you need to get your phone officially unlocked.
If you got this message & are using the correct sim, that's a different problem. If so, post back.

hi all, my apple iphone 3gs has been working fine for months and i have now just bought a new iphone and given my 3gs to my mum, she has put in her sim card after signing in with her apple id and for some reason it is now saying sim not provisioned any ideas??

More info please. Did this occur while you were trying to set up the iPhone new, or while you already had it registered and working? If it was already set up and working when this happened, then go to the settings and reset the network settings. If this doesn't work then press and hold the power button and home button for about 10 seconds until the phone shuts off by itself and then reboots.

I rebooted my BB today and after it was switched on SIM not allowed :3 appeared on my screen top!
I am just not able to receive any phone calls or texts.. But my BBM is still working !!
What should be done to solve this problem !!

I had recently updated from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and thus had to re download Adobe Digital Editions. I downloaded Version 4.0 but the problem seemed to be with the authorization between the e-reader and the computer. While in ADE click the help button and click erase authorization then re do your user id and password. It worked for me.
