Phone screen is cracked. was in a lifeproof case. just bought phone in january 2013. is it covered under apple one year warranty?

my iphone 4s was in a lifeproof case, when the screen got cracked. (yes, i have contacted lifeproof) i just bought my phone in January of this year, so i havent had it a year. im just wondering if it is covered under apples 12 month warranty? and do i just take it into where i bought the phone from? Thanks!

Did you purchase AppleCare + with your iPhone? If you did, then you are covered for two incidents of accidental damage subject to a $79 service fee plus tax. Otherwise, you would have to pay for the out of warranty replacement.

Have you checked your Control Panel to make sure you don't have the flashlight turned on?
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the flashlight icon (bottom left-hand corner) is not white. If it is, tap on it to turn it off.

In the extremely unlikely event that the screen is damaged due to a manufacturing defect, it would be covered under the warranty. You would have to prove that to Apple that it is a manufacturing defect and not accidental damage. You can read this to see what you replacement options are.

I was able to get it into recovery mode, I unconnected it from my Find my iPhone (i couldn't erase that way because I can't connect to WIFI with the screen not working). if the cable is damaged you will need any way another one, so call Apple and ask for replacement and in case they recieve the Cable and they find out that it's covered they will bill you and then you will see that the deposit is less expensive then to buy new Cable
