Phone Software Update: Razr v3c, Bluetooth and iSync...
This morning, I found a software (read: firmware) update for my Razr. I installed the updated and was pleasantly surprised that on my Windows PC the OBEX file transfers started working. (Now I can finally get my pictures off of it.)
After getting upstairs and re-pairing the phone to my Mac, I was annoyed to learn that the update doesn't allow me to use Bluetooth to sync my contacts, anymore. (Although, USB still works correctly.)
This is more of an FYI to those who run across the same "Software Update" from Motorola.

Hi Dion, My phone is a Verizon Escapade. I found a table on Verizon http://search.vzw.com/?q=Verizon%20Wireless%20Escapade that says I need software version "WP8990 W8990VW9331F.179 HW: REV_01" which is an older version that is currently installed on my phone, "W8990 VWA531F.188 HW REV_01"! So my dilemma is do I back install an older version or wait it out and get a phone Volvo blesses

I did the ios6 software update on my iphone and it did not complete because it said there was an error. It then gave me a message that I needed to restore my phone. When I tried to restore my backup it says it cannot be completed because there is not enough storage. I cant delete anything to make more storage because my phone is not usable because it wont restore. What do I do?
Something in your backup may be corrupt. Try wiping it and setting it up as a new device, then sync your apps, data and media back to it from iTunes. DO NOT resotre from your backup. If the problem is contained in the backup, it will bring it right back again if you restore.

now when i put my phone into recovery mode it connects to i phone software update server and sftware starts download but after much time of download error=-39 occurs
my itune keep showing message that i tune is downloading software for my phone. but downloading for several minutes it displays message that i tune cannot connect to my phone because it is locked with a passcode. first entre the pass code.

I might be blind, but I didn't see a backup option on my 6131.

I checked the software update link on Nokia-UK site and found the follows info in update over PC:
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory may be deleted during phone software update. Before updating your phone software, we recommend you back up this data to your PC using Nokia PC Suite Software. Once your phone software is updated, you can restore the data using PC Suite.
This is correct text. And update over-the-air text is not correct. Just push next if you saved all data from your phone.

My 3rd Gen Ipod Touch was undergoing a software update when it stopped and itunes threw up a message saying "Update cannot be completed due to an unknown error". I disconnected and reconnected the ipod, and itunes suggested I restore the ipod. I started the restore and it froze midway and again said "Cannot be completed due to unknown error". The ipod is now frozen with the apple logo and an empty progress bar. It is not responding to anything. Windows is recognising it by opening Itunes but Itunes is not showing the divice in the pane. After buying this phone and spending ages setting it all up, I find that I can not activate the my xperia feature. Sony website says go to settings/about phone/software updates to find options but nothing is there, just stating that phone is up to date !
How do I activate my xperia on the E1 ? I am wanting to setup the lost phone feature.

There might be a dozen or so different product codes for the same phone model - different operator models carry different firmware and has a unique product code.
You will not get the update for your phone until the operator says yes to it. How long does it take? It depends on the operator, but it might take from a few days to a few weeks. If you want to be sure when an update is available, sign up for the email notification.

The recent software update deleted my notes and they are not in iCloud. I can email some of the material to myself. Is there a way to make an email into a note?

I have just agreed to software updates on my imac and now can't open my mail. There is a message saying this version of mail isn't compatible with this latest software. I have located the updated mail in the applications folder but it won't open. I don't have the original operating software disk. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are. -
I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

My Ipad has a black background now and everything is color faded after the latest software update? I restored and reset the Ipad. How can this be fixed?
How much data is being backed-up from each Mac? (see what's shown for Estimated size of full backup under the exclusions box in Time Machine Prefs > Options).
Is there any other data on your Time Capsule, besides the backups?
Most likely, there just isn't room. Time Machine may be trying to do a very large (or full) backup of one or both Macs, and can't. Since it won't ever delete the most recent backup, there has to be enough room for one full backup plus whatever it's trying to back up now, plus 20% (for workspace).
