Phone states 'OTHER' storage is taking up most of the space on her iphone 4, how do i find it to make more space?
Ok this may be a simple fix but I cant figure it out. I am trying to give my wife more room on her phone to take photos of our new baby, so I synced her phone to iTunes it shows the bar of whats taking up space on it, and 3/4ths of the phone space is categorized as 'other' but when you look at what is on the phone there is almost nothing on it, 30 songs no video or tv or books a few small apps, but nothing that would take up 3/4ths of the phones memory, its an 8 gb iPhone 4, how do i get this 'other' crap off the phone! HELP!
Try to restore the iPhone from iTunes.

It means that you did not deauthorize any of the computers no longer in your possession. You can deauthorize all computers once a year by opening iTunes Store and selecting your Account link under Quick Links. You can then reauthorize your new computer.

"Other" includes data such as iPhone settings, contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks/cache/cookies, email and email attachments, SMS/MMS/iMessages, notes, app data, Safari cache, cookies and bookmarks, stored passwords, search index, home screen organization, wi-fi network data, etc. It should normally be about 1 GB. Yours in an indication there may be corrupt data on your phone.
Unfortunately the best solution to fix your issue is a restore. Back up your phone, then restore it using iTunes. Follow this guide:http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414. -

Hi there kburgee! Other can be anything from App Data (information saved from apps like game progress, or passwords) to or old messages that you haven't deleted! The absolute best way to clean up some space is to restore your iPhone.

I just updated my iphone to ios 7 and updated itunes to 11.1. Yesterday I noticed I couldn't move music from my library to my iphone. Today I noticed that most of the music on my iphone is gone. What do I do?
I don't see how the AAC Version thing really applies here - the issue seems to be with
the time it takes for "Preparing to Update" to run when adding new songs and
the fact that a bunch of songs can get temporarily deleted from your phone, then need to be recopied over.
I should also add that I'm using iTunes for Mac (OS 10.6).
And Linda0410, if you view your phone's library in iTunes on your computer while it's copying, you should be able to see a bunch of grayed out songs, and there will be a little indicator on the left hand side of each song that's currently being copied. -
When I launch I photo it wants me to choose a library but it doesn't find one which is impossible, because i still have no storage. before i can clean up i want to back up them. how can i find my library?
You may very well have damaged your library - or even your system by not having adaquate storage available
And never select all of the pitcture and move them - that will destroy your library - the iPhotolibrary is a SQLite database and must always be kept intact as a single entity -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!
Log into the iCloud on your MacBook Pro and enable Photo Stream:
Then launch iPhoto and set iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences to the following:
Then check the Photo Stream section of iPhoto:
This is to confirm that the photos are still in Photo Stream. If they are they will be imported into the library.
NOTE: not all photos in an iPhone will be in the Photo Stream. PS only keeps photos in it for 30 days.
If you have the missing photos in your library put them in an album. Connect your iPhone to the Mac and open iTunes. In iTunes you can select that album in the library and sync the photos to your iPhone to get them back on the iPhone.

my iPad isn't accepting the wifi code - states it is wrong password, though it is the same on my iPhone and laptop. Toggled wifi off/on, tried 'forgetting network' and not getting the option. IP address etc fields all blank

Is this happening with one particular network or with all? Make sure iOS is updated on the device.
Try this:
Reboot ipad by pressing and holding both the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go. Then try to connect to network.
Go to settings, Toggle airplane mode on/off. Make sure bluetooth is off. Turn on wif (airplane mode off). Try to connect.
Reset Network Settings
Go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings. Then try to connect to network.
If its your home router, then reboot router by unplugging for 5-10min. (do this while you're resetting network settings).
If problem persists, then check for firmware updates on your router.(you check router manufacturer support website for downloads and instructions).

I was making new Apple ID with my other Email on iTunes, but I canceled the process on payment page. After a while I went to make a new ID with same Email but it says the Email is already in use! what should i do?
You will need to try changing the email address on the first account and see if you can then re-use it on a new account - you can try changing the email address via http://appleid.apple.com or by logging into it via the Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes (if you don't have a spare email account then you can create one via http://gmail.com or http://hotmail.com)

When using tethered capture I often get this notification "The metadata for this photo has been changed by both Lightroom and another application". This slows or stalls the loading of incoming photos. How do I find out which other application is changing the metadata and stop it?

I've had a look at the TC settings dialog and tried to keep it as simple as possible. I also had a copy of LR 4 on the hard drive so have trashed that also incase of any conflicts. LR seems to be running ok now but as said it's an intermittent problem.
I also have a copy of Capture One on the hard drive so am going to uninstall that also in case it is trying to launch. -
I want to restore 300 Gigs of data, saved to Time Machine, on my new iMac 27". I want my OS on the 256G SSD, but I want all the other data (which can be separated) on the 2TB internal hard drive. How do I do that?
The Apple article will transfer everything from one volume to another. Doing what you want is not simple, unfortunately.
See Transferring Home Folders not on a Startup volume, especially scenario #1 in the gray box there.

I have a mid 2009 and a late 2011 MacBook Pro, they both have the latest upgrade of Lion. Neither of them can "see" each other in AirDrop. I have reset the apple ID on both. Is there any way I can make them "see" each other?
As far as I know the older mac is compatible with AirDrop.

I'm pretty sure my Mac mini 2011 has that but for whatever reason I cannot send via AirDrop to the mini. The mini can see other computers like my 2010 MacBook Pro and send files to it, but not in reverse. The MBP is unable to see or send to the mini unless the mini has engaged it to send a file to MBP. Even then it's temporary and the mini will disappear from the MBP's AirDrop radar upon completing the delivery of its file.
So I'm a bit perplexed on how the Mac mini has AirDrop, can see other AirDrop computers and send files to them, but cannot be seen on other Macs to reciprocate. -

IPad "Other" Storage is Huge - Blame iTunes in the Cloud Streaming?
I have almost 6GB of "other" storage, according to iTunes. My iPad keep prompting me that my storage is almost full. My "other" storage seems to keep increasing every time I stream a purchased movie or TV show from iTunes in the Cloud. It seems like iOS 7 is downloading the file for me to watch, but then once I finish watching it, the file stays on my iPad. I have gone into Settings>Usage and my iPad says my Videos app is empty (which is true, because I was only streaming the movie or TV show). This problem caused me to already have to do a fresh install of iOS 7 once on my iPad, and I'm quickly approaching the point where I'm going to have to do a fresh install again. This bug is annoying. Does anyone else have a solution for this? I'm going to report the bug to Apple.
Go into your settings app and make sure you haven't accidentally switched the "show all songs" setting off. Even if you're reasonably sure you didn't do that it won't hurt to check, or turn it off and then back on again to see if changes anything. If that setting is turned off, the phone hides songs that have the "cloud" option (but you can still find them if you search by pulling down to reveal the "search" box above the top of your song list).
Other things that might help:
- "force quit" your music app by double-clicking the home button, then touch the music app in the bottom row until it squiggles, then tap the "x". When you start the music app back up again, it will reload the icloud data.
- shut itunes match off in the settings app, then open the music app, then turn match on again, and open the music app again - this should wipe out the icloud information on your phone and force the phone to get a fresh copy (you may want to do the "force quit" too, but just to hurry it up since the music app doesn't always realize it needs to update right away)
But these are all guesses, I haven't seen this problem myself. It could also be a temporary glitch on the apple servers, and may clear itself up without you needing to do anything.
