Phone Static

I have the I Phone 5. There was a software update about a month ago. Ever since then, when using the phone function I hear static in the background. But I do not hear it on every call.  Does anyone know what is causing it or how to fix it?

Static is typically a network/carrier issue.  A software update is extremely unlikely to cause it.
Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Also contact the carrier.

  • 3GS I Phone Static/Interference - Does anyone else have this problem??

    Hi,
I bought the 3GS on a 24 month contract at the beginning of this month and have noticed that even though my phone is not receiving a call - its interfering being static with my fixed line at work. Its horrible and annoying as my fixed line at work rings and all you can hear is the interference of the I Phone colleagues started complaining - so I turned off the push notifications and wifi connection at work bearing in mind the phone isnt even on my desk!!! but it causing so much interference and this has resorted to me turning my phone OFF!!!!
I have never had this problem with any other phone.
The static/interference happens when in the car and it affects the radio!!!
What is going on? does anyone have any suggestions?
I called O2 and they were like dont know what that could be and we cant do anything!!! So now what???? Im not happy at all .....I dont have insurance on my phone either.
    Kind Regards

Perhaps I should clarify my question.  When I schedule alerts (reminders) in my calendar the phone reverses them.  Example:  Alert 1 - 1 day; Alert 2 - 1 hour.  When I save the reminders the phone reverses them.  Example:  Alert 1 now reads 1 hour and Alert 2 reads 1 day.  So frustrating.  I've even tried putting them in reverse order and saving them and the phone then keeps them in the right order. I think my phone is possessed...JK

  • 7940 phones ; static issues on line

    Hello,
I have a customer that has 7940 phones and about 3 out of 7 users are having static issues all of a sudden.
First thing I checked was the line cord, swapped out with known working and seemed to resolve problem - get anew line cord. Customer says still happening, can't see anything on 3550 or 3640 VG that would point anywhere. CallManager is registering phones.
Any idea where to look in either VG or 3550 for potential source?
    3550 = c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-13.EA1a
    3640 = c3640-is-mz.123-5.bin
    Thanks.

Yes, we have a vlan for voice and one for data, the switch is set for 100/full on all ports.
    ex of a user:
    interface FastEthernet0/3
    description IP Phone
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 79
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport voice vlan 80
    no ip address
    duplex full
    speed 100
    spanning-tree portfast
How do you set it on the phone, looked in CCM and couldn't see any settings. I have a 7940 on my desk and couldn't see how to change it.
did --> "settings", "Network Configuration", scroll down to item40-SW Port Config" but no way to change it.
My phone display shows "AUTO" just like the user having issues bu my phone has always been OK..
Thanks for your help on this....

  • 7925g phones static/hissing and roaming issues

    Hello,
We've been having an issue for several months now with our over 200 7925g phones.  Nurses are complaining that the phones have static and will drop the voice of the other caller and several times need to repeat the conversation.  We have confirmed several scenario's.  It occurs when both callers are on 7925g inside the coverage areas in the hospital; between 7925g and 7940 desk phone; 7925g and Nortel desk phone.  We've tested on 802.11a and 802.11b/g.  I do see a difference when on 802.11b/g however still get a hissing when connecting to a different AP.
    4 - 4400 controllers,  6.0.202 firmware
    1 - 5508 controller, 6.0.202 firmware
    234 - LAP1131AG AP's
    6 - AP1131AG AP's
    7 - LAP1142N AP's
    3 - LAP1310G AP's
    AP's are on 6.0.202.0 firmware
7925g's all are on 1.3.3 firmware but we have a select few that we are testing at both hospitals with the newest firmware 1.4.1 and still same results.
    235  - 7925g phones.
We have followed the 7925g setup & deployment guide, WLC Config Analyzer and made sure all checks were made.  The only setting we plan on testing this week is changing the CCKM authentication change which was recommended.  Currently we are WPA TKIP
We have disabled the higher rates (36-54) on the 802.11a.
We also have AirMagnet VoFi analyzer which is showing issues when roaming from AP.  The alarms indicate a one-way audio issue and points to the AP's and phones power not matching.  We have our Tx power level on the controller to automatic, Max Power Level at 30 dBm, Min. at -10 dBm, power Threshold at -70 (WLC Config Analyzer recommendation).  The phone TX Power is set at 8 dBm.  Call Power Save Mode has been tested with both None and U-APDS/PS-Poll.
We have a case open with Cisco TAC and she has requested debugs from our controllers.  I have sent over 7 and she is not coming back with anything solid and not much help so far.
Our tests between 802.11a and 802.11b/g (RSSI setting on phone Auto-a and Auto-bg) have shown better with the bg mode but still static and/or hissing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.

    Thanks!
We finally had an awesome Cisco Engineer on our SR.  We straightened out the code and now have the correct 1.4.1.1.1.7 ES image and also configured CCKM.
We are currently testing with about 20 phones before we deploy it to over 200 phones.
Below are the steps we took and so far the tests have resolved the issue.
    1. Downloaded & installed the 1.4.1.1.1.7 code on the 7925g's.
    2. Changed the Scan Mode on the device in Call Manager to 'continuous'
    3. On the Controllers, configured & implemented CCKM on the voice WLAN only.
    4.  Set the Radio Policy for the Voice WLAN to 802.11a only.
    5.  Only using channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161 on 802.11a
    6.  Disabled the 6,9,36,48 & 54 Mbps rates for 802.11a only
    7. Configured the phone with the new voice SSID with CCKM, Security Mode as EAP-Fast, & 802.11 Mode = Auto-a.
We are following up with these test users next week so I will post if this fixes our issue.
Thanks for all the assistance everyone!

  • How do I config "Roaming" Phones on Multisite UC500

I have two UC520's in two geographically different locations with 7970G handsets configured.
    Site 1: 192.168.10.xx
    Site 2: 192.168.20.xx
Intersite dialing works just fine and Multisite is configured via CCA with status of UP.
I have one user who will be moving between sites for long periods of time (6 months at site 1 and the other 6 months at site 2).
I want to the ability to phyiscally move his phone from site 1 and plug it into site 2 and have it retain all site 1 settings (understanding the limitations of having that phone statically register to site 1, call park, etc).
UC520's are currently configured for MultiSite full mesh however when I have tested plugging in a 7970 phone from site 1 into site 2's port(s) it does not register.
Under the dated Multisite deployment guide (https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9568) it states:
"Can I move my IP phone between multiple sites?
Yes. In this case the "roaming" IP phone will be statically configured to register to its home site even if it is physically moved to a remote site. The roaming IP phone will receive all its services, including PSTN & voicemail from its home site, essentially making it a Teleworker phone."
Does anyone have this configured and workding? Am I missing a configuration step outside of having Multisite configured between the two sites and simply unplugging a configured extension from Site 1 into Site 2?
Other than configuring the phones via CCA to their Home UC I cannot see how to "statically" configre them to register with the home site.
    Appreciate any guideance.

    Jordan,
Firstly, thanks for your continued replies, I really do appreciate them.
For what in theory seemed to be a simple configuration, this one has me pulling my hair a bit and of course it is for a single user!!!
I went with your initial recommendation of changing the Voice VLAN so that each site now has a unique Voice VLAN address range.  I then deleted all multisite configs and reconfigured them after the address change had been made.
Touble is I am not able to ping back an forth on the new Voice VLAN range and not quite sure where in the ACLs I need to modify or add the new Voice VLAN info (again all configuration has been done through CCA so it has made all updates)
    I have now:
    Site 1:
    Data: 192.168.10.xx
    Voice: 10.1.1.xx
    Site 2:
    Data: 192.168.20.xx
    Voice: 10.1.2.xx
I am able to do intersite dialing between the two using (Intersite Digit)-(Site ID)- (Extension) and calling back and forth works fine.
When I move a phone that was configured to Site1 and plug it into a switch port in Site 2 it does not register
I update the TFTP to use address of 10.1.1.1 (Site 1's TFTP Server) it still does not sucessfully register.
    I am able to ping:
    Data - Site 1 - to - Site 2
              Site 2 - to - Site 1
    (all good here)
Voice - Site 2 - to - Site 1 but not the other way around.
Obviously I need to include 10.1.2.xx in the range of IP's that can be seen throught he VPN however I do not know where to make those modifications. Do you have any suggestions on that or a good place where I can find that documented?
Also in this configuration should the "Teleworker Phone" option be checked for the extension that will be statically configured to it's home site?
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  • Numbers to Words on a Touch Tone Phone

  • Help with Nokia c3-00 Wifi x2 Phones.

Myself and my wife have both bought the same phone. Both can connect to our wireless Linksys router seperately but cannot connect at the same time as each other.
I belive the problem is that our router wont except two of the same Ip address', so I believe I need to set up a static Ip on my phone, which I have (I think).
The problem is that even though my phone says its connected to my network, it still wont actually aces the internet.
I'm not that great with Pcs and I've tried to solve this but I can't and I'm getting frustrated.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Try to assign two different IP addresses for Your phones static by administration of Your Linksys router from computer. Then let phones to get IP address automatically, so it should work then.
Don't say you want to help - just do it! Happy user of Nokias: 6150 SAT (still work), 6021 (used as backup, still work), 5220 XpressMusic (Drown, screaming for Contact Service), C3-00 (my current phone).

  • Socket connection to a cell phone by using emulator

    Hi,
I have been studying on the client-server communication between my cell phone and the emulator.
I want to connect to my cell phone from emulator.
For this reason, I can get my cell phone ip with getLocalAddress() method by using an instance of ServerSocketConnection.
However, my cell phone ip changes constantly(once per second). Because I can't get the true ip of my cell phone at that time, I can't connect to my cell phone from emulator.
Is there anyone who knows what I must do?
    Thanks in advance.

How doesn't a cell phone have an IP?
Each cell phone has an IP.
This IP is generally assigned as private by some operators Whereas, some operators assign a public IP to cell phones.
I learned that my operator assigns public IP to cell phones and I wanna try to connect to my cell phone by giving IP address of it.
I can read the IP of my cell phone dynamically. But, my problem is that my cell phone IP changes constantly.
What should I do to make the ip address of cell phone static?
    Thanks.

  • CER 9.0 One Line number on two phones at different locations

I'm putting some phones statically into CER and I have a line number that is on two different phones, the phones are at two different building locations. Is there a way to put both phones into CER with the same number but have the correct information be pulled up when dailing 911?

Got it, you can only have unique manual phone extensions defined, so you cannot have the same extension assigned to 2 different ERLs.  If one it to be build manually and another one is tracked then CER uses the following order to figure out which one to use:
    Call Routing Order
Emergency Responder directs emergency calls based on the location of the phone from which the call is placed. The location of the phone is determined by the following methods, in order of precedence:
Synthetic phones—The MAC address of the phone matches that of a synthetic phone and is assigned to a test Emergency Response Location (ERL). See Synthetic Phones and Set Up Test ERLs.
IP Phones tracked behind a switch port—The MAC address of the IP phone is tracked behind a switch port assigned to an ERL. See Switch Port Configuration.
IP Phones tracked using IP subnet—The IP address of an IP phone belongs to an IP subnet assigned to an ERL. See Set Up IP Subnet-based ERLs.
IP Phones tracked by another (remote) Emergency Responder server group in the same Emergency Responder cluster—The remote server group tracks an IP phone behind a switch port or by IP subnet. When an emergency call is received, it is forwarded to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager cluster served by the remote Emergency Responder server group. See Phone Moves between Clusters.
Manually configured phones—The line number of the phone is manually assigned to an ERL. See Manually Define Phones.
Unlocated Phones—The MAC address of an IP phone is assigned to an ERL. See Identify Unlocated Phones.
Default ERL—None of the preceding criteria is used to determine the phone location. The call is routed to the default ERL. See Set Up Default ERL.

  • 7936 phone - can't hear user calling in

We have 7936 conference phones in place and are finding when someone calls into the conference phone, we can answer the call and the far end can hear us but we can not hear them.
Can not see anything that would cause this in configuration.

We experienced this a few months ago. It seemed like the issue would occur seven days (the DHCP lease period) after the DHCP server (a router) was reloaded. The TAC said it was an issue with the phone load, and told us to use a newer load 3.3(10). We still had issues and ended up assigning the conf phones static IPs and we haven't had another one-way audio problem (knock on wood).

    Mobile.showDevice,Phone.device
Please help me .. am confused....

Static variables are not over ridden. No member variables are overridden. The onlythings
that are overridden are instance methods.
    very true. Actually, Only public(protected,
    default access) (static)
un-final methods can be overridden. You mean non-static (i.e. instance) methods. Class (static) methods cannot be overridden. Hidden or shadowed (I keep forgetting which is which), but not overridden.
I'm not actually sure about package-private though. If they can be overridden, the child class that does the overriding would have to be in the same package. I would guess that they'd be overridden in that situation, but it's possible that they'd be hidden/shadowed. I haven't bothered to look it up or try it.
But otherwise, yes, your statement is more precise than what I said. :-)

  • Email Blacklisting - New IP address

Not sure if I am on the right forum. I work from home and have a dedicated email address etc hosted by HeartUK. Every 2 weeks or so I keep getting blacklisted by dnsbl etc saying that the ip address has been listed of sending spam etc. I have an imac 2014 running mavericks. My provider said You can get around this by either contacting your ISP and requesting a new IP address. Please advise as it is getting very frustrating whem email keeps getting rejected by clients servers.
    Thanks

Unfortunately you have dynamic IP addresses if you are a BT residential customer. This means, as imjoly has said, it changes every time you disconnect and re-connect to the internet  If you work from home and a static IP address is important to you, you should consider getting a business account with BT and you can have a static IP address.

  • WRT54G Router Locking up

    I have two WRT54G routers, v.5 and v.8
I upgraded the firmware on the v. 5 router and now I can not get my IP Phone and inbound port 25 to work.  At first I thought Comcast was blocking port 25.  I have confirmed that this is not the case (it works without the router).  SMTP will not work on port 25 with any type of configuration using the latest firmware for v.5.  I have used Port Forwarding and put the server in the DMZ.  Also, with this rev of the firmware, the IP phone will not work.  I have these ranges forwarded:
    TCP Port 1720
    TCP 30040 - 30042
    UDP 30000 - 30001
This is not a VoIP home service.  This is an Altigen IP phone that connects back to my office so I can work from home.
When I talked to tech support and installed the v1.01.0 firmware, the IP Phone would work but the SMTP forward would not work at all.
I purchased a new v8 router with the latest firmware on it and I can now get the SMTP to work, but the IP Phone will not work.  I also have connected the IP Phone directly to the cable modem and it works fine.
    Any help would be great!!!!
    Thank you

I'm also having the same problem. Here are the details.
    WRT54G v8.2.05
    Local IP: 192.168.1.1
    subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP Server is enabled.
    Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Max number of DHCP users: 50
Altigen phone static IP set to 192.168.1.99
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.1.1
    Under port range forwarding:
    1718-1719         UDP
    1720                  TCP
    30040-30042     TCP
    30000-30001     UDP
All these ports forward to 192.168.1.99
I can receive calls without any problems, but when I pick up the receiver to make a call all traffic stops, both wired and wireless. I have to pull the power plug on the router to get things working again.

This is a wireless carrier issue.  The fact that the speaker & microphone work properly for other apps is a great indicator that your device is fine.

I did every step in the link that i have been provided with (thank you), but I’m
still experiencing the same issue. My experience with Apple has been
excellent and this has been the first time I have experienced something
like this with an Apple product. I hope we can find a quick solution.
In order to get the iPhone 5 as soon as it launched (being a major fan of
Apple products!), I purchased my iPhone 5 from the UK through a friend of
    mine who lives there.
My question is: can I have the faulty device replaced within Saudi by one
of the official resellers here (we have 3: STC, Mobily and Zain)? I want to
avoid the disruption, complication and expense of sending it back to the
    UK.
Could you advise whether this is possible or not, and if not how should I
go about having the device replaced?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

    Nice try! Take a hike.
