Phone stops syncing before getting through step one.

What to do about it? I noticed it was not updating podcasts and now not finishing all steps of a sycn so nothing syncing.

Try to delete the latest backup, step one of the sync process is backing up the phone. If the backup can't be read by iTunes, it will stop the sync process. You can find your backup list in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices.

Have you talked to your carrier (or your friend to his)? Could be an issue at their end.

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.

ICloud sync problem - getting messages from one contact on two different phones

My partner and I accidentally synced our phones to the same iCloud account and all of our contacts merged. We solved that problem but now we're both getting messages from one of my contacts at the same time. We've both deleted the contact and the message string, and that hasn't seemed to help. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Reset iMessage by turning it off and then back on. You might have to restore phones as new because I message Registers the phone with the cloud.

Are all these songs associated with the same Apple ID or were some purchased on another account?
Are they tagged properly? In the library does it break an album out into several different albums with a few tracks each?
Check your sync settings for each device. Do you accidentally have only certain songs/albums syncing?

Why did my phone stop syncing with husband phone with calendars?

Just an update; after an hour chatting with an Apple support person, I had to wipe my iPad & reload everything. Now it syncs fine, but it has taken way too long to reload everything. Note that iCloud or computer backups are all or nothing; you cannot do selective restores if you do not want to restore a lot of old stuff.

I tend to be a bit clumsy with my phone and drop them pretty often. I'm currently get rid of my Nokia E71 because the camera function no longer works. That being said, my buddy has a spare 3G Iphone that he could give to me. Lets say I break that one 6 months from now, how do I go about getting a new iphone? Do I buy it from the store and renew my contract for another 2 years?

As long as you understand that Apple can rightfully refuse to replace or fix the screen since it is not a covered issue. If you are near an Apple store you might try going in and talking to them. Some people have claimed that Apple store reps replaced their iPhone on the spot when they presented it to them with a broken screen. At the end of the day, the worse answer you will get from calling or going in is that the phone isn't covered and you have to buy a new one or pay for the repair yourself.

Sync contacts gets hang at one particular contact

recently i buyed new bb 9320 , when i am syncronizing contacts with outlook , out of 1500 contacts, the sync gets hangs at 84 contact and not moving forward from that till 4-5 hours. i cannot cancel the sync and if i do, there is no contacts in new bbm..
can anyone guide for the solution??

I have the same problem with a curve 9300 and the desktop software. It is not new but it is yet unsolved. Basically the problem used to be, that some non printing characters (such as formatting etc) were included in a filed of the contact or the calendar and this caused the sync to stop. I have the same problem now and this is why I joined the forum today. I suspect that many many users have the same problem. Blackberry pls help

Did you backup all your documents and data first? Normally your user profile contains a Music folder which in turn holds the iTunes folder. All the important details of your library are in there, with the media below in a folder called iTunes Media. If you lose this information and then connect your device to an empty iTunes library it will want to clean it out the device and start over.
You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new windows installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Stopping half-way through step 3 will do...?

Just a quickie...and I'm not sure if this has been addressed already (I tried looking but all the answers I came across dealt with crashes and the like).
So here is my question: I am half way through the 3rd step of my iTunes match...the uploading part. It has taken HOURS (I was warned it would) and I'm not the only person who uses this computer at home.
So..if I were to hit "Stop" on the bottom, cancelling the upload halfway through...will I need to start over again, or will it pick up where it left off when I stopped?
I haven't tried yet for fear of losing the hours of waiting it has already taken.
A swift answer would be fabulous!

The process will pick up where it left off. It will, of course, rn through steps one and Teo again but it won't take long.

BlackBerry Storm (the first one) stops syncing after starting

Out of the blue my Storm will stop syncing part way through the address book. A pop-up appears with the following error code: 0x8004fd28 Check Documentation. I have been syncing with a laptop with Windows 7 Professional without difficulty for three weeks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ipod touch stopped syncing with itunes since ios 5 upgrade

Can someone PLEASE ADVISE ME!
I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing. Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT. Starting using ios 5 and was loving it. Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours. never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes. Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up. I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperate

ah now i see your reply in the thread. well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized. *** is going on with this stuff. i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!
I really hope someone can advise me. Cuz i fear I may have to try and revert back to factory and spend like 6 or 7 hours again trying to resync and re set up my ipod
