  • Re started iphone after powering down, now is stuck in connect to itunes mode and wont do anything else. also has no service

re started iphone after powering down, now is stuck in connect to itunes mode and wont do anything else. also has no service, I was able to retrieve all of my photos so the device is functional on that level. have restarted several times & also have restored data from i tunes. it said my phone is damaged.

    Jailbreaking
Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.
Unauthorized modification of iOS has been a major source of instability, disruption of services, and other issues

Ok so i'm not very techi....phone connected to itunes to sync so I can transfer photos, request for upgrade i think it's 7.2.  Phone goes into connect to itunes mode and wont shift.  I have no idea if backed up to icloud and really don't want to lose photos

if you are seeing the image of connect to itunes then all data on your phone is gone.

if you backup on a regular basis, then you can use that backup after the phone is done restoring.

  • Ipad 2 stuck in connect to itunes mode

My ipad 2 was updating to 5.1.1, is stuck in connect to itunes mode and cant be restarted nor switched off and itunes is not able to recognize my device.. it has been like this for the past hour!!! i even updated to the latest itunes to try to make my ipad 2 work... Can anyone help please??

Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 for Windows and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 for Macs

  • Phone stuck on connect to itunes screen after update attempt

Hi, hope someone can help me. I connected my iPhone to my computer to transfer my photos from the phone to the PC. I have automatic syncing turned off.
When I connected, I was prompted to update the iTunes version, which I did. It's now version 9. Then I attempted to update the iPhone version. I got a message saying I had to transfer my purchases first, which I did. Then I tried the update again. The update seemed to take awhile, then I got a message saying it failed. There was a "More Information" button which just prompted me to send info to Apple, which I did. Unfortunately I didn't save the info.
At that point all my iPhone info no longer showed in iTunes, and the only active option is Restore. It does say "Your iPhone software is up to date," which would seem to indicate that the update did work...I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my phone. When I do this, I get the message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
I would rather not Restore the phone unless I have no other options, since I have 600 pics, contacts, etc on the phone...Of course not backed up since this is the first time I've tried to transfer data.
So I tried a few things:
    - I disconnected and reconnected the phone several times.
    - I restarted the computer several times.
    - I went to the Apple site and tried the troubleshooting steps for "stuck on connect to itunes screen" (which is what my phone is currently doing).
    - I ran the diagnostic checks in iTunes (output below - I ran this while the phone was plugged in yet it says it's not found).
    - I held down the Home and the Sleep/Wake button until I see the Apple icon.
    - I went to My Computer > Manage and tried to update drivers, but the phone doesn't show in the device manager.
    - I tried a different USB port and there are no other devices connected to the machine.
Nothing worked, my phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and I get the error message every time I plug it in. I haven't tried another computer bc I don't have one and I'm not sure how to create/use another user account on this machine.
I wouldn't mind calling support but my phone doesn't work...Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your only choice at this point is to restore your iphone. Since it appears from your post that you have never synced to this computer, you of course will not have a backup to restore from. That means your only choice is to restore as a new device & re-sync your itunes content. Unfortunately, all of your contacts, calendars, pics in your camera roll, etc., will be lost. Its not a good idea to use the iphone or any phone for that matter as a storage device, as things like this can & do happen. You should be syncing on a regular basis. The first thing done when you do sync is an iphone backup. You should also transfer pics in your camera roll to a supported application on your computer on a regular basis, much like any digital camera. You can always sync pics back to your phone, but if the only copies are on the phone, you run the risk of losing them.
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

  • My iPad 2 is stuck in connect to iTunes mode after the update. It won't restart when I hold both buttons down.

My ipad2 is stuck on connect to iTunes  screen and won't reset. I had just downloaded the os update. How do I get it back?

The iTunes icon and cable mean that it's gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
You will need to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use it to reset the iPad, and you can then restore/resync your content to it.

  • IPhone stuck in 'connect to iTunes mode' and can't restore via iTunes!!!

IInstalled new update last night. Then crashed and won't turn on, says connect to iTunes. I have tried to update and restore about 20 times but every time it says halfway through 'the iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3) I have done a hard reset about 30 times on the phone tried updating via computer, doesn't let me do that. Doesn't let me restore. I've turned computer on/off reinstalled iTunes. Reinstalled the new software of 8.1.3 or whatever. And now I stand to lose everything!!! What more can I do!! I'm in UAE. And there's no official Apple shops!! I'm soo annoyed and spent hours trying to fix it, I have had every single iPhone and am very competent in the use of them.. Right now I'm on my iPhone 6+ which has the update and it was fine.. Please someone help me, if possible!!

yes, just to say a big thank you to Apple ...realizing today while browsing these forums that I haven't been the only one. Happened to me when I updated from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3 OTA... device (iPhone 4s) stuck in recovery mode ... how nice, this has never ever happened to me after years of using iOS, whether I updated OTA or via iTunes, never. I was then delighted to experience the restore process ... wasted hours doing that thanks again ! (I have many apps and a big backup so...). Seriously, this is unacceptable.

  • IPhone stuck in connect to iTunes mode after restore

I attempted to jailbreak my original iPhone with software 3.1.3 using Spirit. This process failed, and I decided to restore it. After the restore was installed, the phone rebooted, and attempted to access the iTunes Store. However, it cannot reach the store, and I get a window saying error -9813 occurred. My phone is stuck in the emergency call mode now, and any help would be much appreciated! I am running iTunes 8.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 (outdated, I know, though if I must upgrade iTunes/the OS itself in order to get my phone to work again, I will). Thanks
Edit: also, I can log in to my iTunes account and browse the iTunes store itself without any problem. The issue is that I can't access the iPhone activation screen.
    Message was edited by: DP154

Never mind, the problem seemed to resolve itself. I guess the issue here was on Apple's/AT&T's end and not mine, which I was concerned was the case. The phone successfully connected to the iPhone server, and then proceeded to copy data from a previous backup of mine.

  • TS1538 my iphone 5s is stuck in "connect to itunes" mode

I literally just bought this phone today, and theres already an issue. After updating my iTunes, as the notification indicated necessary, I also clicked to update my phone as well. Halfway through the update, my iTunes screen read "waiting for iphone" and my iphone just shows a picture of plugging the cord into the iTunes logo. Ive tried holding the home and hold button in different variations for different durations (as told by youtube and support forums...) and nothing seems to work. It's still stuck on the screen with the cord being plugged into the iTunes logo.
    Please Help!!!

    UPDATE:
So I finally got it to work again! After being on the phone with apple support for 40min, we came to the conclusion that I was going to need to bring it back to the apple store and exchange it for a new one. Let me emphasize this is a BRAND NEW iPhone 5s, literally bought it less than 12 hours ago. Just as I do not know why this problem occured, I also do not know why the problem was fixed. I will outline the steps and issues I faced throughout this process incase anyone else is in the same boat.
-plug my phone into my computer
-must update iTunes in order to control phone from computer
-(after update) popup indictating new iOS software update
-halfway through iOS update, iTunes reads "waiting for iPhone" (where you read which song is playing)
-iPhone stuck on screen with Lighting USB cord --> iTunes logo
-tried putting it in recovery mode; fail
-may or may not have put it in DFU mode; still no progress
-call apple support and go over similar steps with him
-(still on the phone) uninstall iTunes & ALL APPLE software in particular order
a.iTunes->Quicktime->Apple Software update->Apple mobile device support->Bonjour-> Apple application support
    -re-install iTunes via apple.com
-plug phone back in and still no progress: iTunes not acknowledging the phone & phone still stuck on same "connect to iTunes" screen
-conclude (with apple support) it to be a system hardware failure and scheduled an appt. for the genius bar tomorrow evening.
-in order to see if the problem is my phone or iTunes, I plugged my old iphone 5 into my comp. and iTunes registered it just as it normally would.
-while my old iPhone 5 was plugged in, I plugged in my new broken iPhone 5s and wouldn't you know, it came up onto the screen. From there I just followed the steps on the screen from restoring it to setting it up all over again
-I did have to do the fingerprint thing again, type in my wifi password, and although my texts were all there, none of my apps were so I need to redownload them.
So I guess if you're having this issue, try plugging in an old ipod or iphone just to see where the problem lays. If it is iTunes, you need to uninstall the prgrams in that (above^) particular order for it to be completely erased and reinstalled. Hope this helps you guys out! Happy holidays

  • IPod Touch 3rdGen stuck in connect to itunes mode and driver missing

Ok what happened was I wasn't at my own house and and I wanted to put some new music on my iPod touch 3rd Generation. I had to update to the new itunes first. Then once I was finished I remembered I had to update my iPod touch so I clicked on update. Then at some point the ipod screen had the USB connect to itunes and a window comes up saying Windows needs to install driver software for your apple mobile device ( recovery mode ) and my computer cant find it. I have went into the device manager and when i click on properties for the apple mobile device recovery clicked properties and in the device status box it sais
"This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."
I have looked to re download the drivers and I can't find them. The other problem is my primary computer is not working and if i have to completely reset my ipod i will lose practically everything because I have a feeling my primary laptop is getting reset.
So to conclude it's really saying my apple mobile device recovery mode is there, but there is not a driver installed to it.

    - First I would remove and reinstall all the Apple software using the following and then restoring the ipOd.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Next see if manually placing the iPOd in recovery mode will allow a restore. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next try DFU mode:
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - Next try another computer/cable to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - If the other computer works and yours does not see:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
