Phone switches to Spanish when texting

Hi. I just updated my iPhone 4S to the new iOS, and I have all my languages and keyboards set to English. But for some reason, when I send a text message to a couple of friends, both iMessages and text, the keyboard and autocorrect automatically switch to Spanish. How do I fix this annoying issue?

Can anyone comment on whether or not their phone has this same behavior running 4.2.1? This severely reduces my enjoyment of streaming music. Loading MP3s onto my phone isn't an option because I haven't bought any albums since shortly after CD's became popular and buying from iTunes isn't an option either because I feel like that may be what Apple is trying to bully me into doing.

Phone Switches to iPod When Streaming Music

I recently installed a bluetooth streaming capable stereo in my truck and upgraded my phone to 4.2.1. Whenever I make the bluetooth connection to stream the music, my phone switches from Pandora to the iPod. Same thing happens to my wife's phone with Ford SYNC in her car.
How do I make it stop? If I already have pandora running, it should stay running. Having to pull my phone out of my pocket (and her having to pull the phone out of her purse) severely reduces the enjoyment of having the phone stream music.

My phone doesn't talk when texting

I lost the ability to correct spelling while texting.

Check Settings > General > Keyboard
Check Spelling = "on"
Auto Correction = "on"

No texts come through when phone switched off

When iPhone 4 switched off and someone sends a text message through why don't I receive it when phone switched back on? Is it my provider? My settings? Or phone? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SMS is a carrier function. It's going to depend a lot on how long you have the phone switched off. Different carriers hold messages for different amounts of time before they are deleted as undeliverable. iMessages are a data function unless they can't be delivered, which case, depending on settings, the sending phone will try to send them as SMS messages.
If this is an issue for you, I'd recommend considering putting the phone on mute rather than turning it off. Of course, if you are, for some reason, required to turn it completely off, that won't help. The only places I've been required to turn my phone off in the past year were on airplanes and while being detained at the border.

I've had iphone 5 for about 2 weeks and recently when I turn my phone to landscape when texting it doesn't switch to landscape

Again make sure rotation lock is disabled as TJBUSMC1973 kindly suggested. Then what you want to do is:
- leave the multitasking bar up
- hold your finger on the messages app till it starts to wiggle
- tap the red button with the - in it on the messages app
then do a reset:
- hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time
- the iphone will turn off(keep holding) then release both buttons as soon as you see the apple logo appear
Now try opening the messages app and view it landscape.

I do not use iCloud because I have no wifi at home, limited data available for regularly backing up, and I have a 64GB phone and don't wish to pay to upgrade from the 5GB iCloud storage. Am I doing something wrong? It worked so seamlessly on my loaner phone that I am completely stumped as to why it will not restore those items to my original phone again.

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service. Your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have chosen to sync.
If you have failed to do this, then they are likely gone.

you should get a notification at the top of the screen for a usb connection. pull it down & select mass storage.
in my computer or windows explorer, you'll see motorola as the next available drive after the hard drive, cd, dvd, etc.
click to open & the sd card can be viewed.

I have the most up-to date software and I have pulled that battery.

That's just what happens when you do a battery pull. If your phone is turned OFF, the cache is not accessible. As you're probably aware, anytime any electronic device is acting up (PC, printer, modem, etc.), unplugging it will correct many issues; it's the same with your phone.
I can't offer a really technical explanation, just trust me on this one and remove your battery while your phone is ON.

When spellchecking table, dictionary switches to Spanish for no reason

I am spellchecking an InDesign 4 document. On page 9 of an 80 page document, in the middle row of a chart, the selected Dictionary switches to Spanish and begins questioning every word in the document because the document is in English.

In the Control Panel or the Character Panel, check the Language field for the text that causes the switch.
You can do a global find change by Language if you leave the Find what and Change to fields blank, click on More Options, and change the formatting in both fields. Select the language in the Advanced Character Formats pane.
