Try to reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, if the red slider appears ignore it.
If that does not work, it needs a visit to the Apple store genius bar for testing.

is there an app that can turn off battery charging while plugged in?
I regularly fly from Australia to Europe (22 hours on the plane!) but the power outlet usually stalls when draining too much power
(e.g. 85 Watts for my Macbook Pro battery).
Any solutions available?
I used to just take out the battery, however, that is not possible anymore on the Macbook Pro.

ChristophBut why turn off battery charging, makes no sense in this case. You either run off the battery or plug it in and run off the battery while it is charging.
The power draw won't change appreciably.
My bad power consumption will change
It would seem the best strategy would be to get on with a fully charged battery plug in the laptop and let it trickle charge as you use it. Given the length of the flight this should give you the longest use with the minimum amount of draw from the seat outlet. -

two issues here
first is that my phone just turns off on its own. happens 1-2 times a month. anyone else having this happen to them?

Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
If the same contact Apple for appt. for full in shop diagnostic and possible repair. -

My 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo shuts down without warning after I start it up. Sometimes it's 1 minute into the startup, sometimes its 10. But after installing snow leopard 10.6, it does this everytime without fail. My screen doesn't work, so I have it plugged it into an external monitor. When it's turned on and working, it functions perfectly. But all of a sudden, it will turn off. I copied the power information from the system profiler, which is pasted below. Any help on possible fixes would be great. Maybe some sort of MPU reset or something. Also, I tested the battery I'm currently using in another Macbook Pro of the same exact model, and it works fine. Help Me!

All lithium-ion batteries lose some charge when the computer or device is powered off.
If the battery is entirely depleted after the iPhone is powered off with a fully charged battery at the time, something is wrong - unless powered off for a number of weeks or months. -

If you've left the phone plugged in for at least a half-hour with no results, then try holding power and home buttons simultaneously to do a soft reset (settings) only. If that doesn't work, try seeing if iTunes will recognize the device and let the computer charge the device.

My phone started acting up and I noticed my text messages were not being sent. So I turned my iphone off. My iphone 4s turned off properly but when I went to put it back the apple icon came on and then an image I have never seen before of a UBS pointiing towards the word itunes in a circle. And the phone no longer goes beyond this message. I try to turn it off and on again and same message over and over. If I hit the any button on the phone nothing happens. Thank you so much for your response. I had these photos backed up on iCloud but, had I not, its good to have an alternate solution as the one you suggested. Actually, I went to the Apple store today and yes, you are absolutely correct Restoring in iTunes will result in permanent loss of photos unless backed up somewhere such as iCloud or other solution. Well, what they did was restore the phone in itunes ( I did not have iTunes downloaded to my computer which is why it did not work when I went to do it myself, I needed to go to the iTunes site and go to the download iTunes button because my windows based HP laptop does not come with itunes already downloaded). This retoration process took a while and I was forced to upgrade to the latest 7.1 iOS software which I was not too happy about -sometimes you like the way things work now :-) Anyhow, they said this restoration request happens as a result of a software update (which I was NOT in progress of an update or doing an update) or sometimes when you remove the power cable too quickly from the iphone (which I do not recall doing this either but...). Since I had backed up on iCloud all of the photos were downloaded back on my iphone 4s. Best of all was that my phone was back up and runnning and there was NO CHARGE at the apple store for this service of restoring my phone. Well, I just wanted to share the results and I appreciate all the responses and support I received. Thank you kindly. -

When you erased the disk did you select Mac OS Extended Journaled as the format option?

Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced. -
My phone crashed and has an icon showing a usb cable and the itunes emblem. when I connect to itunes it does not recognize my phone and treats it as just iphone. when I try to restore about 9 to 10 minutes into the restore the phone turns off and then on and then loses the connection with itunes and at the end of the download it just asks me to restore it again.
Be prepared to lose everything on your iPhone but it should be backed up in iTunes so you can restore from your backup.

Restore as a NEW device. Don't use backup at all. Your backup may have corrupt data causing the issue.

If I understand the question correctly, it is not about turning off keyboard clicks, it's about silencing the beeps made when manually keying in a phone number. With keyboard clicks turned off, the beeps still sound when keying in a phone number. If I'm reading the iPhone User Guide correctly, it explains how to turn off keyboard clicks but not how to silence the beeps when keying in a phone number. The only way I have found to silence the beeps is to put the phone into silent mode.
