Phone Unable to Restore

An odd thing happened today, I was just browsing the internet on my iPhone, doing the iPhone thing when it decides to restart. That's all fine and good, these things happen, but when it rebooted it showed the screen with the USB cable and the iTunes symbol indicating that a restore was needed. A bit annoyed, I plugged it in to my computer and it began to sync but after a short period I received an error from iTunes saying "iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required."
I've tried unplugging and replugging it back in, restarting it, restarting my computer, removing the SIM card and putting it back in but nothing seems to work, iTunes refuses to interface with the phone. The whole thing is just annoying as sin, any help would be much appreciated.

  • How can i Use my apple 4 phone again - I was instructed to restore my phone with itunes and now it's stuck with the itunes logo and black screen Itunes has said unable to restore and now left unable to use my phone and not sure if I have any data on it?

I was instructed by I Tunes to restore my Iphone 4 - ITunes has since said it is unable to restore.  I  am now left with a black screen with Itunes logo on it and a picture of the charger attachment at the base of the screen and I am unable to do anything now with the device.  I think I may have lost all of my information on the device too ~ can anyone help please?

You have lost all your data, but hopefully you were backing it up with iCloud or iTunes. You can try this:
Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

    Hello there, Jeanne2919.
There is a great Knowledge Base article that is right up your alley:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
    Specifically this section:
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
    or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities!

  • Unable to restore to N91 phone via Pc suite

I backed up my N91 phone to my PC. I bought another N91 phone and when restoring the backup to this new phone, I get an error after initialising and restoring a few files that the phone has disconnected. The entire backup is not restored. what could be causing this problem and how can I restore the entire back up to the new phone.
    Rgds,
    Sammy07

    Did you use PC Suite?
Did you back up the "Memory Card" also (i.e. the Hard drive) by using the settings in Back-up app?. If you did, this may be causing a time-out.
Another thing you can try is to connect your N91, then open PC Suite and select "Get Connected" Button (even if the N91 is already been detected and loaded) this will force the installation of the Sync utility into your new N91, you will be prompted on the phone screen to accept the installation.
Once this is done proceed to restore the back-up.
    Hope this helps.

On 2 occasions my iphone has come up with the message that it needs to be restored to factory settings, but on trying to do this, itunes displays the message that it is unable to restore phone due to unknown error.  Any tips?

Unless you have a jailbroken phone that has altered the baseband, that usually a hardware failure, in which case you'll have to take it to the Apple store for evaluation.

  • I am unable to restore my iPhone 4 from recover mode for almost a week now.

I am unable to restore my iPhone 4. It is in recovery mode and shows the connect to itunes screen. Itunes gives me many error messages, one saying "The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The network connection could not be established." and I do not understand if it is referring to my internet or a Network on the phone. My internet connection is fine and the phone does not have service on it since I havent gotten it to work for the last week. I have also tried multiple computers to try to restore it and recover images, but nothing has worked. Please help me!
