Phone Wallpaper Display Name

Hi all,
We have uploaded the images and we can change the wallpapers as we want.
But when we went to Preferences->Wallpaper, the pictures we uploaded there just showed the file names directly i.e. "pic1_thumb.png" and "pic2_thumb.png". But the system built-in wallpapers show the cool names like "City Lights" and "Blue aurora".
Is there any way we can change this appearance? Thank you.

What about receiving calls ? Does it display the name ? The most common reason for this to happen is Duplicate entries in contacts.. meaning the SAME number stored against more than ONE name ...

Brand new 5s- sometimes phone numbers display when receiving calls and texts instead of contact name. Hard to know who is calling/texting! A few times I've tapped on the text message icon and I can actually watch as the conversations turn from showing just numbers to the contact names. Same thing when looking at call history and voice mail- sometimes it shows numbers and then I'll go back and the contacts will be back. So frustrating!

You don't dial *228 to update the Preferred Roaming List on 4G phones; I"m surprised the call went through. The PRL updates are handled by the SIM card.
Try this and see if it helps: turn off the phone, remove the SIM card, and wait a few minutes. Then re-insert the SIM card, turn the phone back on, and give the phone a few minutes to re-establish a network connection.

CSCsj18014 is:
Caller ID string received with extra characters
Symptoms: A caller ID may be received with extra characters.
Conditions: This symptom is observed when caller ID is enabled on both
routers and when the station ID and station name are configured on the FXS
side.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
The reference of FXS ports makes be believe that CSCsj18014 is not the applicable bug. However, in the same results page, we see another bug matching better a problem of garbage w/o FXS ports:

Symptom: Garbage characters in called name displayed on calling phone Conditions: When placing a call from one phone to another phone on CME using 12.4(11)T3, the displayed name on the calling phone gets some unidentified characters at the end of the displayed name after a few seconds have passed. Now, the bug toolkit does not give the number for this "related bug" and I was not able to localize it.

How to change display name in iMessage?

My son has an iPod that's using iMessage to text. When he text to my phone, it has my name as the display name and not his. How can I change this so it can display his name instead of mine?
I am using my iCloud account on this iPod, not sure if it has anything to do with it.

Do you mean you want their name to display when you ipad imessages your iphone?
2 ways to do it
You can either add another contact and call it iPad Message for instance and just add your iMessage email in there.
Or
If its another persons phone they simply need to add the same email address into your contact on their phone.
I dont think its possible to not display your email address mind you if you are not already added at all in their contacts, i.e if you're imessaging an aquantaince and not a close friend via iMessage.
iMessage i designed for more personal use between friends and family unless you dont mind sharing your email address.
Why not just add another email address in iMessage to use if you're worried?

3201: The publisher display name FooBar, specified in the package doesn't match the publisher name, FooBar

I've updated a WP 8.0 application to WP 8.1 Silverlight. When I try to deploy a demo application I get the following error;
3201: The publisher display name, FooBar, specified in the package doesn’t match the publisher name,
FooBar, that’s associated with the developer account.
I've seen several cases with people encounter this issue and then solved by modifying WPAppManifest or the Packages file. My problem is that the
display name and publisher name is exactly the same. Both in the application xml files and in the error message displayed by windows phone store.
Any suggestions?

There is no requirement that source code files are in the correct directory structure. If you want javac to be able to automatically compile dependent files, then the source code must be in an appropriate structure and find-able from the classpath.
Also, when you use the -d option, javac will create an appropriate directory relative to the directory specified in the -d option. That's how it is supposed to work.
So it is working as designed and specified.

Email display name different iphone / macbook iCloud

Since upgrading to Lion / iOS5 and iCloud I have the following oddity.
When I send an email from my macbook or iCloud.com the From appears as Nick B********m which is great and is what I want
When I send an email from my iPhone 4 the From appears as Nicholas B*******m which is not what I want!
My appleId is set up as Nick, in fact I can't find anywhere that I'm setup as Nicholas! Can anybody nudge me into the correct direction to change this.

I have worked with this issue today. The answer has two steps.
1) Login to appleid.apple.com and get your name correct there.
2) Delete that icloud account from your phone and add it back after a small delay.
It seems that the "display name" for email _sent from an ipad or iphone_ using _a me.com or mac.com_ account is pulled from the appleid profile.
AND
changes made to the appleid profile don't get reflected on the iphone or ipad until the account has been deleted from the device and added again.

Received texts/calls display name

Hi I have a Nokia 2310 and would like to know I can get the phone to display the caller's name and not just their phone number. I have phone numbers/names recorded in my contacts and saved, so why doesn't the name appear when I receive a text from one of those people? My other Nokia phone did this and it is a fairly basic model too. I can't remember people's phone numbers and don't want to have to check through my contacts to match up numbers to received calls if those people dont sign off with their names. thanks for any help on this.

I had the same issue. It is caused when the contacts of the person exist on the SIM chip and then on your phone memory. Removing the name from one solve this issue. However, I updated my phone to the latest firmware and it resolved the issue.

My BBM display name keeps updating?

For some unknown reason, my BBM display name keeps telling my contacts that it's changing (sometimes every two minutes and other times every five or so minutes) when I'm not even doing anything to it.
My phone is a Blackberry Curve 8900
Anyone know what's wrong with it?

When your contacts are getting the notification of the change being made, what is being displayed as the change?
Back up your BBM contact list as shown in KB20554 "How to back up and restore the BlackBerry Messenger contact list" and clear your BBM database as shown in KB10167 "How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone". Restore your contact list and monitor the changes.

How can I change the display name when I call someone?

I recently gave a re-provisioned 8300 to a new employee. I wiped out the phone, and re-setup the phone in our exchange server to match the new user's settings.
The only problem he's having is that when he calls someone, the display name shows the previous users name as the person calling.
How do I change that?

You don't say what model the device is, but if GSM, make sure the SIM card has not been edited to the preview name.
Options > Advanced > SIM card > Menu > Edit Sim Phone Number

How to alter my display name when sending from an alias?

When sending emails from my iphone, using an alias, I've noticed that it sends it using my real name. This defeats the purpose of using an alias!
When I send it from my Mac using the mail app, or from icloud on the web, it uses the name I've designated for the alias, but this is not the case on my phone.
How can I get the mail app on my iphone to use the display name I've designated for the alias?

Just go to icloud.com and click the gear in the top right corner (Preferences). Then go to the "accounts" tab and click on the alias you are trying to use and then when it comes up, insert the name you would like to use. If there's any more questions you have, just reply.

From: field (Display Name) incorrect

Hi, we have a number of N97's and E series phones that we have hooked up to our mail system which uses Zimbra mobile (mimics Activesync).
My problem is that when a user sends a mail, the display name is incorrect (it shows company name instead) though the email address is correct. e.g. companyname ([email protected])
If I create a mail on the device and lookup the message info I can see that before the message has left the device it has the company name as the display name => I am 90% certain this is an MfE issue. Also we don't have this problem with iPhones.I cannot see a field in MfE to set the display name manually.
Any ideas as I can't see any other people with this problem. Also multiple versions of MfE in use.

The affected names are there - but shown in caps initial, followed by l/case letters. I've removed them anyway to see what happens.

Contact display name problem

Since upgrading to ML I'm having a problem with contact display names in Mail. When I go to compose an email, some contacts have a problem. EG for "John Smith" email [email protected], I type in smith and autocomplete. But Mail displays "[email protected] Smith" as the name. When I look in Address Book the contact card for John Smith is formatted properly. Any ideas?

2100 SMS messages is a lot ! On a Series 40 phone you will be lucky if you get more than 400 messages in your inbox.
I think you should ask your question in the smartphone discussion /discussions/board?board.id=smartphones as the behavoir you describe is something not seen on normal (S40) Nokia phones.

Phonebook not displaying names in groups.

I just got a new macbook pro and when I connected my iphone to it, it erased all my contacts. So I manually put them in but now instead of displaying them by letter, eg-A-NAMES,B-NAMES,C-NAME,D-NAMES. It just shows one single list of people.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix it.

It depends on if your iphone is not displaying your contacts alphabetically or is address book not displaying names alphabetically.
If it is the iphone, go to home screen > settings > phone and check the contacts section to see how the names are supposed to be sorted and displayed.
If you have the settings correct, try power-cycling or resetting the iphone.
Both shut the power down so you can turn back on. This link will help.

If it is the address book that is having the issue, check the address book preferences to see how the names are supposed to be sorted and displayed.
If these are set correctly, you can rename your address book preference file.
To rename the file:
Make sure you quit out of address book.
Open finder and drag the following file to the desktop.
~\library\preferences\apple.com.AddressBook.plist
This will reset any preferences you have set in address book.

Gmail Display Name Using Senders Nickname

Just had an embarrassing moment. On my GF phone she has a nickname for me instead of my name in my contact info.
Now when she sends email this Nickname appears on the To line on all outgoing messages. Problem is when she emails other folks and cc me, like business folks in this situation, the display name appears as my nickname not my real name. How do one avoid this?
Also, it looks like any correspondence that I am having with these folks the display name is this nickname. How does one go about fixing this?

What happens is she adds your contact by typing your name instead of "smoochieface"? Does she have your real name in her contacts? She can have your real name and also your nickname (it's an additional field). What happens if she turns off Prefer Short Name under Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendar>Short Names?
