Phone won't charge from standalone chargers, will only charge from a computer.

This is a bit strange.  My iPhone 4 (at&t) won't accept a change from any of my chargers (the one that came with it, the iPad charger, third-party chargers), it will only accept a charge from a computer.  The same chargers work OK for other devices (iPhone 3G, iPod, iPad).  This happened both in 4.x and 5 (I just upgraded, hoping to fix it).

Clean the iPhone Dock Port with a clean dry toothbrush. See if this helps. If not, clean again with the toothbrush and a small amount of Isopropyll Alcohol, clean especially the Pins which are on top of the Dock Mid Rib.

  • HT4623 My phone won't charge

My phone won't charge through I tunes or charger

What store did you get it from?  All we can tell you is Apple will NOT touch that phone. It is no longer eligible for in or out of warranty service from Apple or any Apple authorized service provider.
Apple does not sell iPhone parts. if you had someone replace the screen, they had to use one that was either:
    Counterfeit
    Stolen
Salvaged from a damaged or non-functioning iPhone.
There are NO legitimate sources for iPhone parts.

  • Phone won't charge, I've tried everything that I could possibly think of.

Okay, currently I'm losing it because my dead phone won't charge. I've been nice to it, it's 3 months old and has lived in an otterbox case for it's whole life. Yesterday I tried to plug it in when it told me I had 15% battery left, it charged to about 30% and then the charger just stopped working. I tried multiple charges from multiple outlets and from my computer and taking the battery out. Nothing is working. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

If you have tried multiple chargers and multiple outlets it sadly leaves only 1 likely conclusion.  It is most likely either damaged or defective.  The only steps left to take would be to determine whether the issue is with the battery or the phone itself.  I strongly reccomend calling in to tech support to help you determine the issue and help you resolve it.

  • Phone won't charge when shut off

I have a new Blackberry Classic and most of the time the phone won't charge when it's shut off.  It's not a problem with the charger, as the phone will charge when it's turned on.  Sometimes (not all of the time), I can get it to charge when shut off by turning the phone on and off a few times.  It's also not a question of the charging lights not working, as I've left it turned off and plugged in overnight, and the charge will be less in the morning than the night before.
Aside from this, the END CALL button normally turns the phone on and shuts it off (as it did on the Bold) when the phone is unplugged.  When the phone is plugged in though, the END CAll button won't turn the phone on.
All of this makes me wonder whether the phone has some underlying power/charging problems that will get worse as the phone gets older.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice everyone, the software update solved the problem.
QM, even without the software update the phone should charge when it's turned on.  Is the battery so dead that the phone can't even be turned on?  If that's the case, then I would return it.  Otherwise, I would plug the phone in, turn it on, wait for the battery to charge and then do a software update.

  • HT201412 phone won't charge

I have gone through 3 chargers now the phone won't charge unless I put a rubber band to hold the wire in. And lay it still

That sounds to me like you have some debris stuck in your charging port on your iPhone.  I know that happened to my wife's iPhone a while back and using a clean dry toothpick to get teh debris out solved her problem.

  • HT4061 My phone won't charge with any battery what could be the problem?

My phone won't charge with any charger what could the problem be?

Dock connector. Try to clean out lint and dirt from the dock connector with a toothpick or paperclip and make sure there aren't any sprongs missing or damaged. Try another charger and/or a different outlet. Change the battery

  • My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. It was working fine up until this and I have been trying to fix it for 2 days. Please help! I am unsure of what version the phone was currently running on before this because I have another iphone that's my primary phone and have not used this one in about a month. I do not believe it was updated to IOS 7.

Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

  • My I phone won't charge, what might be wrong??

Phone won't charge, what could be wrong, is less than a year old!

If the iPhone won't charge when connected to the power adaptor or when connected to your computer, the cable may be bad.

  • My podcasts won't download from the computer to my ipod touch all of a sudden!

All of a sudden my podcasts won't download from the computer to the ipod touch anymore.  It still downloads changes in music and apps, but it just seems to be podcasts.  Can anybody help me diagnose my problem?

If they are video podcasts, they now appear in the Video app after iOS 5.

  • After mixing a project i select bounce and burn the disc that is burned plays on any cd player but when i try to burn the wav or mp3 file that was created the resulting disc will only play in a computer this also happens with video projects help please

after mixing a project i select bounce and burn the disc that is burned plays on any cd player but when i try to burn the wav or mp3 file that was created the resulting disc will only play in a computer this also happens with video projects help please are there any settings i need to alter as it seems the wav or mp3 file i ceated is being converted to a data file somewhere between the folder and disc drive

Same thing for a movie file.. If you want to play back the movie via a DVD and a DVD player you must create a Movie DVD  and not just burn files to a data DVD... as Data DVDs are just storage devices for files and therefore will only work with computers...
Movie DVDs are special formats that include things like menus and special file formats.. so they can playback via a DVD Player...
You will need a 3rd party DVD Burning app like Toast which is what i actually use.... or the more popular DVD Creator app...to create and then burn a Movie DVD that will playback on a DVD Player....

That's not entirely true, when I upgraded to Leopard I found the phone continues to charge even after my Powerbook is asleep.

  • Phone won't charge from computer

I changed some setting today that connecte my phone as a media device to my computer.  This same setting also allowed me to charge my phone from a computer.  I cannot find it to put it back.  Anybody have any clues how to put it back?  It is a setting on the phone, not the computer because now my phone will not charge from any computer.

This is weird, I plugged my phone in the first time, it started charging
from my computer, but my computer didn't acknowledge it, and there was
no notification bar to pull down.  I used the same USB port that I
always use because it seems to charge the phone the fastest.
I wanted my computer to recognize the phone like it has always done in
the past prior to me changing whatever I changed on my phone.  I
unplugged my phone, it showed that it had quit charging, then plugged it
back in to both ports on the phone and the computer.  The phone did not
recognize that it was attached and start charging, and the computer
    didn't recognize it either.
I unplugged my phone, and rebooted it.  Then I plugged the phone back
in, and things were initially the way they were, the phone brought up
the notification bar, it showed as being connected as a media device.
My computer recognized it as well.  So now it charges, but all that I
can do is to install the Motorola assist software.  I have downloaded
and installed it repeatedly, but I still can't access my
pictures/music/etc. from my computer, the only thing that shows up is to
install the software which I've installed.
