Phone won't play purchased ??

My iPhone won't play purchased songs after I synced with my iTunes. Any ideas ??

Could you be more specific?
The songs get synced but don't play or they won't sync at all?
What happens when you try to play? Do you get a message?
Are you logged into the iTines and App stores on the phone?

  • IPod won't play purchased music from iTunes Store

My iPod won't play purchased songs from the iTunes Store. They play on my computer, using iTunes, through the iPod, but my iPod won't play the songs with headphones, or in my BOSE speaker station, nor in my car using my Belker radio adapter. I've purchased a few songs before, and haven't had this problem. I wasn't prompted, as I have been before, to enter in a password before playing the songs.

i have the same problem, and i looks like there are another 4 or 5 discussion threads with the same prob. my ipod is about 14months old, got one of the first 4th generations when they came out -- have never had a problem, then when i downloaded itunes 6, all of a sudden everything i have purchased since then plays fine on my computer and just keeps scrolling thru and not playing on my ipod. very very frustrating. i have tried everything, right down to a complete restore on it, and nothing helps. also, when i downloaded itunes6, my purchased music playlist disapeared -- i spent 2 weeks and 5 emails going back and forth with tech support because they wouldn't address the issue, and am wary of going to them with this one. i thought the drive or memory on the ipod was corrupted and was going to buy another one, but now i'm not so sure -- is anyone having this issue with a 5th generation? because what it looks like is itunes 6 downloads may not be compatible with 4th G, and that makes me a little cranky. any one find a solution for this yet?

  • Iphone  won't play purchased music

Songs ripped from cds play fine, even songs purchased from the iphone play fine. But songs purchased on my mac now won't play on the iphone. I have been away from home for a couple of weeks, so no sync recently. The music stops, the pause button changes to a play button, and pressing play doesn't work; the pause button quickly shifts back to play button. Thanks for any help.

If you have all music that was purchased from the iTunes store in one playlist and you are syncing selected playlists, deselect this playlist under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync to remove all music that was purchased from the iTunes store from your iPhone. Follow this by reselecting the playlist followed by a sync to re-transfer the music to your iPhone to see if this makes any difference.
If you don't have a single playlist or multiple playlists for all music that was purchased from the iTunes store to deselect and reselect, deselect Sync Music under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync which will remove all music from your iPhone. Follow this by reselecting Sync Music and selecting the playlists, artists, or genres you want transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.

  • IPod won't play purchased music after upgrading.....

    Help -
My boss has the 30g video IPod. He has upgraded his Itunes software to 7.0 and also upgraded his IPod to 1.2 (whatever the newest version is). He is not having the problems I have seen others are having but the issue he is having is that his IPod will not play his purchased music.
I did find this article (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303854) on the website and have tried everything it suggests to fix it. All the software is up-to-date, we have deauthorized and reauthorized his computer, and I have followed the instructions to recreate the Itunes Library. Still the songs won't play - he can navigate to the folder of purchased music on the IPod and it will let him hit play but it will just display the song and album cover and then keep skipping to the next song - never actually playing the song.
Can anyone please give me some advice for what else to try? If all else fails he would like to just restore his IPod and go back to ITunes 6.0. I tried this by uninstalling ITunes 7 and then installing 6 again but when I open 6 it says it can not be opened because the library was created by a newer version of ITunes. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have this exact same problem since I bought my new 80GB iPod.
All purchased songs play fine in iTunes on my Mac but they just skip past each track when I try to play on my iPod. As mentioned above I have tried the advice Apple give and have restored my iPod and recreated library but I still have the same problems.

  • Mapped Drive to a OS X Shared Folder won't play purchased videos in iTunes

I have a MacBook Pro sharing out a folder where all my purchased movies are stored. I've got a Vista box to which I've added the full library. All the music has shown up, but none of the movies or TV shows. They won't play from the shared directory.
If I move the files locally, they play fine, so there must be some permissions issue with the files. I can read/write to the directory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HAve you seen these video FAQs?

  • Nano won't play purchased music from iTunes 6!

Is there anyone else that is having problems playing purchased music from iTunes 6 on your iPod? My 4GB iPod nano is not playing (i.e. skipping over) songs that I have purchased AFTER I upgraded to iTunes 6. My iPod software is up-to-date and I tried resetting the iPod, but neither helped. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
    -Ben Powell

From what I've read, resetting your nano erases the music, etc. from your nano, putting the software back to its original state.
This really has to s*ck, but if it works, its good that you can fix it that way. It does, however, make a great real life case for backing up your music.
I've been using software (no I don't work for them) called e-backup for my email. I have receipts and other email from 2002! But, the point: it allows you to backup other folders/files. I included my music as an option yesterday because I remember losing term papers, etc. that I didn't backup to floppy or disk. Just in case!

  • Won't play purchased iTunes since 7.0.1 upgrade

Is anyone else having a problem playing purchased iTunes since upgrading to 7.0.1? There are so many things i love about the upgrade (easy transfer of photos from iPhoto) but ever since I upgraded, iTunes refuses to play any of my purchsed songs (which are still in the library) and will not update them to my iPod. (I have an iPod photo -- though most people haven't heard of them, they were discontinued so quickly).
If I click on one of the songs, I get a message saying that my computer is not authorized to play the songs, then am prompted to put in my apple ID to authorize the computer. It goes through, and apparently "authorizes" the computer successfully. But then if I click on the song again, I get the same prompt.
    What am I doing wrong?

Same problem here. Does anyone from Apple actually read these and provide any answers since I can't seem to find any other way to contact them?

  • Apple TV won't play purchased content

Apple TV 2 and Apple TV 3 - Software version 6.2.1 - same problem happening on both of my Apple TV devices.
I have almost full access to the iTunes store from both of my Apple TV devices.  I can access Netflix and I can make iTunes purchases of movies and songs, etc.  When I try to watch the movie I've purchased, it begins to load, goes to "authorizing" and then I get the message:  "iTunes is currently unavailable.  Try again later."  This has been happening since last weekend.  I talked to numerous representatives who really never helped and seemed to just try and placate me with a generic answer that would get me off their phone so that they could move on to a problem they COULD solve.  The last rep, who was supposed to be a higher level rep told me that a server was down and it would come back in 24-48 hours.  I didn't believe him when he said it and clearly that wasn't the problem since I am still having problems.  AGAIN TODAY I've tried everything I can think of including restarting over and over, reseting the Apple TV and finally restoring the Apple TV to factory settings, which seems to have disabled my iTunes account and required me to go to "iForgot" to reset my password.  I did all of this which took at least an hour of my time and in the end, I get the same error.  Over the years I have spent literally thousands of dollars on content that I cannot access.  I have read older issues where people have had similar problems but they usually get a few minutes into the movie before that happens.  I can't get the movie (or song, etc.) to even start to play.  I can get the movie to play from my iPad though.  I have reopened my case.  I am so frustrated right now because I have movies that I bought that I can't watch.  Any ideas??

I have been getting frustrated with this as well.
I purchase content on my iMac, download it to my HDD then normally access that content on my ATV via "Home Sharing." Prior to the iOS 8 and Yosemite updates to all of the devices, this scenario worked perfectly.
Ever since the updates have been installed, I have to reboot EVERYTHING (router, iMac, ATV) to get my iTunes library show up on the ATV, then after I watch a movie and come back to watch another, I have to reboot EVERYTHING again.
My fix has been to unplug the ATV and access my Ultraviolet movies on my PS3 until such time as Apple can come up with a proper fix. It's nice to have a device that works properly.

  • Ipod mini won't play purchased music after not plugged in

iPod mini, Windows XP system (sorry).
If iPod is plugged into the computer at least once every couple of days, everything's fine.
But if the iPod is left unplugged for more than 3 days, it skips over all the purchased music.
Copied music works fine. Just the purchased music.
Just updated to latest ipod software, no joy.
This has got to be an ipod software bug -- or perhaps a really dumb "misfeature". Has anyone else seen this?
      Windows XP

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • ITunes 9.2 won't play purchased TV Shows

Life was great before I downloaded iTunes 9.2
I have quite a couple of TV shows and this is what happens:
    1. Video doesn't play, iTunes freezes, iTunes is slow and I have to end the program using the task manager (Windows 7)
    2. Okay, so I thought I had the wrong version of iTunes and I downloaded the 64-bit Windows 7 program
    3. Works fine
    4. After a random number of playback times, video doesn't play again. My external hard drive, where I keep my library, works fine. My computer detects it. Music files can be played. But no videos.
    5. Need to uninstall iTunes and install again, miraculously it works. But one day like today when I wanted to get my workout done real quick, I instead have to spend an hour looking for an alternative to this program, uninstalling and installing again.
The screen just appear black, Quicktime wont even play the file, and it's not an authorization issue, I also checked that as well. It just decides to stop working whenever it feels like it, and once it does, restarting the program or the computer won't work.

  • ITunes won't play purchased songs after upgrade to 8.1.1

For 6 years this forum has been incredibly useful in solving problems with my various Macs, but now I've run into an issue I can't solve just by reading about the misfortune of others.
After upgrading to 8.1.1 this evening, I am no longer able to play any previously purchased iTunes music. I end up stuck in the "loop" described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389. Unfortunately, the remedies described in the article are not working. I have de-authorized and re-authorized my computer twice, restarted several times, checked for an "SC Info" folder in my /users/shared folder (don't have one), repaired permissions, and even downloaded and played the free single of the week from the iTunes store (at the suggestion of another post), all to no avail. There are no other accounts on this computer other than mine, and I do not share my library. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

    That might help.

  • IPod won't play purchased music from iTunes

I cannot figure out why my iPod mini skips over purchased music from iTunes. I looked at the files and they are .mp4 & there is a little lock symbol on the file. Someone help! I have already dowloaded the latest updates and nothing has changed...

I have the same problem as others mentioned here. I just updated my mini to 1.4, and iTunes to 6.0. Just purchased an album and went to play it and all the songs were just skipped over by my mini. Then checked and the same happens for all purchased music.
I then check in iTunes and everything plays fine there. Then uploaded the songs to my 40GB and everything plays fine on the 40GB. I recently updated the 40GB to the latest firmware as well.
The mini plays all other music just fine.

  • IPod Mini won't play purchased songs

My wife's iPod Mini (all software current and running iTunes 7.1.0.59) will not play songs purchased from iMusic. When a song is selected from recently purchased music the iPod rapidly scrolls thru the songs and returns to the Music folder. After the Mini is synced with the computer and ejected, the purchased songs will play for a day or so then begins scrolling thru the songs until synced to the computer again. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • IPod 5th gen won't play purchased tracks - my solution

    Hey folks;
I recently came across the same problem some of you experienced. I bought a new iPod 5G and sync'd it with my iTunes music library. All my mp3-files and podcasts played fine but my purchased tracks were simply skipped by my iPod.
iTunes played them fine; just the iPod wouldn't.
Here's what I did to resolve the situation.
    0. Make sure you have a backup-copy of the music files in your library. If not - do not proceed. // Write down which podcasts you have subscribed to.
    1. Deauthorize your computer
    2. Uninstall iTunes using the control panel in windows
    3. Uninstall Quicktime Player
4a. Run "regedit.exe" and make sure all registry-keys regarding apple have been removed from "HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer, Inc."
4b. If they're still there; remove them (Right-click; select "Delete" and click Yes)
    5. Delete the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\<YOURUSERNAME>\Application Data\Apple Computer" if its still present
    6. Reboot
    7. Re-install iTunes
    8. Re-import your music into itunes from the backup-location, resubscribe to your podcasts and play a purchased song to re-authorize your computer.
    9. Plug-in iPod and have fun.
This worked for me. So I'm just glad, that my iPod wasn't defective.

forgive me for my apparent stupidity, but I am not much of an IT person.
when you say to back up the music library, do you mean the itunes library or the ipod library? I have cleared my itunes library (to keep space on my pc free) and only have music saved on the ipod.
